( This is a private RP between Teralinth dKalin and ZEE DARK TERA. Feel free to watch the spectacle. )
It was too early in the month to be making his usual delivery of goods, so Maq had decided he was going to leave the travois behind on this particular trip to ZDT's place. It had taken a while to convince Sin to come; eventually Maq had just started over, and found the 'tiger bounding after him before too long. Now the pair stood on the edge of ZDT's front yard, both looking for an open window or door that would quickly let them into the house. Past experience had taught that waiting on the front porch usually resulted in having to fight off curious two-by-fours as the porch railings detached themselves and attempted to swat down the Feien from mid-air.
( 32 points total - 16 Tera, 16 ZDT )

Few days were quiet days, lately, with ZDT providing di'Lesn so much raw pain to feed upon. Curiously enough, today the woman seemed almost normal, calmly and quietly trimming plants in the flowerbed that curved around the side of the house. Nevermind the fact that all plants therein were dead, long so, and most every snip-snip-snip of her shears reduced the stems to splintered dust.
Above her head flew Bertrand and Ernestine, the two Feien tossing between them a set of brightly painted pebbles. Every once in a while one of them would try something complicated with said pebbles, resulting in the other either catching it with a joyful exclamation, or them missing it and it falling to become entangled in the matted mass that was ZDT's hair. Mostly the latter, but it seemed to be every bit as entertaining as the former was, given the way whoever had to retrieve it laughed before diving in.

The sound of Feien laughter was kinda weird, in this place of twisted shadows and dead landscaping, but Maq took it as a good sign and headed in the direction he heard it coming from. Once he was within hailing distance, he lifted an arm and called out, "Special delivery! So who wants it?"

Startled, Bertrand promptly lost his hold on his trio of pebbles, green, red, and black falling from his hands and landing, plop, plop, plop, atop ZDT's head, who paid no notice and merely continued humming an off-key tune. "Monsieur Maquinar!" he cried out happily.
A little more controlled, Ernestine dipped down to lay her own blue, orange and white pebbles beside Bertrand's, before she returned Maq's wave. "Hello, Mr. Maq!"
Neither seemed to be ready to fly over to meet Maq halfway, both preferring to remain close to their Bond.

It never failed to amaze him how at-ease the pair were with ZDT, who sometimes seriously creeped the hell out of Maq. She seemed harmless enough today, unless you were one of those flowers she was chopping to bits, so Maq flew in closer than he usually did, almost landing on her head. Looking between the two, and then down at the pebbles, hidden though they were in the tangles of dirty blonde locks, he raised a crimson eyebrow. "What were you guys doing, exactly?"
A roll of paper, not quite forgotten, was held in his left hand, and he tapped it against his hip idly while waiting to hear their tale.

They exchanged glances and grinned; for two Feien who looked so dissimilar, they sometimes shared *very* similar facial expressions. Simutaneously they looked back at Maq, and Ernestine said, "We were using our special stones to juggle--"
"--Or an adequate facsimile of, by any chance," Bertrand finished, nodding as she did. His eyes caught the roll of paper in Maq's hand, widening slightly. Mon dieu, could it be? So soon? He wanted to ask, but refrained from it, feeling that a sudden change in conversation would be quite impolite.

And it wasn't hard at all to catch the boy glancing furtively at what Maq held. His grin grew broader, and he held it up. "Special delivery, just for you, Bert." He started to offer it to Bertrand, then pulled it back just as the other started to reach for it.
"Aw, come on now. Not going to tip me first?"

The disappointment was clearly evident on Bertrand's face when Maquinar revoked the offer of the letter, big blue eyes looking up at the much larger Feien confusedly. "Tip... you? But I have no--"
It was at this point that a realization came to Ernestine, who exclaimed loudly, even as she launched herself towards Maq, "Sure, we'll tip you!"

Maq laughed, catching her easily, glad one of them had caught on. His arm wrapped around her waist and he lifted her over his right shoulder, ignoring her protests, playful as they were. "I'm not tipped yet, am I?" he questioned Bert, turning the letter this way and that.

Catch on he did as well, launching himself with a flutter of his wings at Maquinar.
The miniature scuffle atop her head seemed to not bother ZDT in the least, and she continued to clip away. All seemed to go as usual until the woman suddenly stood upright, her movement knocking all three out of the air and tumbling towards the ground.
"We won! You've tipped!" Ernestine cried out, to be seconded by Bert, as they all righted themselves.
"That is correct! Now you must present the required prize."

Maq half-heartedly muttered something about cheats, only to raise an indignant protest from the pair. "All right, I give!" he laughed, finally handing the letter over. Truth be told, he was ready to give it up and be gone, now that ZDT was on her feet and acting as oddly as ever.
Pointing at the letter, which Bert had quickly snatched, he added, "You've been invited to come over to their place whenever. Just come see me at the House when you're ready, and I'll take you out there."

While he had taken the letter enthusiastically enough, Maquinar's words brought him pause, and Bertrand looked up in obvious disappointment. "You are taking your leave so soon?"
Behind him, Ernestine first adjusted her wings, then fixed one of the folds in Bertrand's, adding nothing to the conversation. She knew how fond Bertrand was of the other Feien, but she wouldn't mind it in the least if he were gone, and she and Bertrand could return to their practice.

"'Fraid so, Bert." Maq reached out a large, friendly hand and ruffled the boy's hair, chuckling a bit at the woebegone expression on his face. "I just came by to drop that off; Ter needs me back at the House."

Bertrand nodded unethusiastically, glancing in the direction that ZDT had wandered to see if she had noticed the mention of the other Tera. Fortunately, she seemed to be out of earshot, as she hadn't immediately gone into the shrieking hysterics she usually did. "All right then, I suppose..."
When he trailed off like that, Ernestine pointed out, in hopes of perking him up a touch, "But we'll be seeing you soon, right? And the rest of the House, too!"
"That is correct!" A bright smile lit his face. "And onward from there, to greet my genetic contributors!"

It never failed to amuse him, that term that Bert had come up with to describe what Ian and Aria were. They'd had a long talk about how Feien didn't really have parents, just other Feien who added something to the whole pollination process, but "genetic contributors"? That almost sounded like something Simon would say.
Chuckling, Maq nodded again. "Go on and read that letter. I'll catch you both later!" Flipping out his wings so that they formed small sails behind him, he took to the air, and headed off in the direction of the House.
