There was a strange odor in the air, both floral and smoky and emanating from a hookah smoked by a man sitting on the patio. As he exhaled, a ghost drifted up through the street to mix with the silvery vapor. The man laughed. Fish shivered, looked away, and kept walking.
The trident felt heavy on his shoulder, and the air had been getting cooler for a few weeks. Soon he would have to find a heavier wetsuit.
The smell of the hookah followed him down the road. This whole neighborhood felt asleep and drugged out, but it was safe from Blacksuits precisely because few people went there, and in such dangerous times Fish didn't dare travel through Downers.

Seth had spent the past few days in the apartment that Hypnos had placed his new body, eating just enough of what food had been left for him to sustain himself. It took a great deal of getting used to not only suddenly being a teenager, but also the real world. (Something that of course now was completely alien to him) It was a quiet neighbourhood, it didn’t have the same pleasant stillness that Hypnos’ realm had, but Seth liked the silence, save for the footsteps of the few people that came and went.
On Fathers instructions, and once the constant drowsiness had past and Seth had returned to his usual insomniac state, Seth left the apartment for his first walk about through the city. “”The mortal realm is so strange” So many buildings everywhere, no open spaces, so much clutter. And not to mention ghosts.
Seth slowly walked along through the neighborhood, bag of sand over his shoulder.

At first, spotting the man with the feathery ears, Fish thought of Jubs, the hyperactive street urchin with the appetite for rat. But as the man drew closer, Fish decided it was impossible. Even if Jubs had grown like he and the others had, this fellow was the complete wrong color, and dressed far too nicely to be from Downers. And Jubs had paws...
Still, he sensed a godling. The man looked faintly asleep, and he had a large sack draped over his shoulder.
"Hey," said the blonde prophet in greeting, "What're you smoking and where can I get some?"

“Huh?” Seth took a moment to realise he was being spoken to. He turned around to face the blonde fellow. He sounded friendly enough, minus the fact he was holding a trident in one arm. But he was defiantly a Godling as well, he had a similar aura about him as Fathers, albeit fainter, but still similar. Well, if anything happened, he had the sand.
“Nothing” he replied a little agitated. Just what kind of way was that to greet a person?

"Nothing? really?" Fish asked, sounding amused shifting his weight. Then again, he didn't smell anything unusual other than the hookah down the street. He felt comfortable, despite this being a godling and furthermore one he didn't know. But the guy looked half asleep... How dangerous could he be?
This is Hypnos' prophet, burbled Poseidon at the back of his mind, But there is something odd about him.
"I didn't think I'd run into anyone here of all places."
The ghost of a young woman with a harp through her stomach floated past. Fish shivered.
"Fish," he said, holding out a hand. "You?"

Seth didn’t reply to Fish response to his answer, he let his blank face do the answering for him on that one.
Seth ignored the ghosts drifting past, at the moment, he though they where a normal part of the real worlds scenery.
”Go on Seth, he’s a friend” whispered Hypnos’ voice as Fish offered his hand. “Yes Father”
“Seth” reluctantly he shook Fish’s hand with his free hand. Alright he was a friendly one, he wouldn’t have to worry. Hypnos and he had had a lot of time to talk during his stay in the apartment, he had reminded him to focus on making allies, not enemies.
“Nice to meet you” in add in a tone that made it sound like it was quite the opposite.

Fish shook, thrown off guard slightly by the hostile tone. "You feeling okay?" he asked, noticing the other boy's drooping eyes and monotone voice. Actually, he was beginning to feel tired and bored just standing near the boy. Perhaps an empathetic hypnosis of some sort? Fish backed off a bit.
"You're certain no one's drugged you? Because it's probably not a good idea to be walking around half asleep when there are monsters and ghosts in the City."
"How long have you been playing? You're too old to be a newbie."
But he doubted this boy was as dopey as he seemed. You didn't survive by being dopey.

“I’m fine” Seth really didn’t like having to be asked annoying question like that, but he had to bear with it, remembering what Father had told him. Fish was rather lucky, had Hypnos messed with his mind Seth would have already been leaving.
“I’m sure” He ignore his mentions of monsters and ghosts, they didn’t really bother eth for the time being.
”Hmm” He thought, how long was he in the apartment getting used to this body? It was hard to tell between his sessions of deep sleep. “Nearly a week…”
Too old to be a newbie? Maybe for mortals anyway…

Fish wrinkled his nearly-flat nose. "You sure about that?" he asked. That didn't make any sense!
Poseidon, he thought, How long has Hypnos been playing?
The wet part of his mind gurgles and swelled with oceanic tides far away. I don't remember, replied Posiedon. I've been busy trying to learn about Cthulu and training you. Ask Persephone.
Not satisfied, Fish continued to eyeball the boy.
"Where in the city are you from? Where'd you grow up?"
He looked Rich. How many people could be in the game long enough to grow up and still look Rich? He'd seen Crow - she was wearing rags. He'd seen Writ - he was wearing cheap Crowd clothes. His clothes were certainly scavenged, even if he still had the fortune to live at home.

“Yes, I’m sure” Yet more annoying questions…
Hypnos was always worried about something like this happening, it was only a matter of time. But he cursed that it had to occur with the very first Godling Seth met in his new body. He’d just have to shift Seth’s mind the right way, he was a good obedient little boy now after all.
”Seth, that’s enough don’t answer any more questions, he’s just trying to get information out of you”
“Yes Father”
“That’s none of your business” Though coming out of Seth it hardly sounded like a threat. With his free hand he reached into the sack over his should, a collected a small amount of sand, just in case.

Fish backed off, laughing nervously.
"Hey, if I was a Rich, I wouldn't want to admit to it, either," he said, grip tightening on his trident. His other hand summoned a slight ball of water, hidden between his fingers. He had thought maybe this boy would be friendly but...
A little help here? he asked Poseidon.
You got yourself into this mess, said the god.

Why wouldn’t want to admit they were rich? Seth thought that mortals only cared about their material possessions, Seth could understand that, but this? Mortals where even weirder than Hypnos had made them out to be.
“Just forget him Seth….you don’t need him” Seth did as instructed, taking the sand he’d already balled up in his hand, he blew it off his palm towards Fish. Letting his natural drowsy aura blow off with his breath with it.

Crap, Thought Fish. Whatever that powder was, he had a feeling it wasn't pixie dust. Fish swept his hand forward and released the water. It arced around him, and he hoped to dear god that it would protect him from the dust the boy had thrown.
He didn't like fighting, but he didn't mind it, if that was how he wanted to play.

Seth defiantly wasn’t expecting that, which was quite evident as he jumped back somewhat in reaction to the sudden arch of water that stopped pretty much all of the sand he’d throw, it was useless now that it was mixed into the water. Still, at least he had his natural aura to slow Fish down if he needed to escape
”Just run Seth” He nodded, but thought it a good idea to throw another palm full of sand before he escaped. He tossed it in the same fashion as before, before turned tail and running for the nearest street corner.
