A World That Is Shinobi
Prologue:
The world has change in the past years, wars have been won and lost; allies made and lost. All the same though life continues on and life prospers where it outshines extinction. Such is the same for a shinobi, prosperity outshines extinction when life is safe and not plauged by war whereas destruction lies in the wake of the clashing blades.
Years have passed since the fall of Akatsuki, each remaining member being included in a battle of epic proportions. Of course as the legend goes it was Team 7 who had defeated one of the darks of Konoha, Uchiha Itachi. Long had Team 7's goal to defeat him and what better way to die than by the hands of old friends, Naruto and Sasuke. The saying goes 'devided they fall, united they prosper', and that is exactly what happened. Only when did Naruto and Sasuke combine their power were they able to defeat the man who had torn them apart, ironically killing him was the only thing that brought them together again. Itachi had fallen to the one he had egged on to kill him and his target. One last thing Itachi was overheard saying was that he was proud of Sasuke for finally besting him, the last image he would see would be a swirling red Rasengan and chirping Chidori as his eyes closed for one final time, his Mangekyou dissipating into nothing.
But the happyness was not to endure, having been victim to several Tsukiyomis and Amaterasus Sasuke's body was neigh reparable, even by the great Tsunade-hime's standards. Sasuke's body was badly burned and his mind was so distorted some would believe him insane, he had not long to live anyway for he exceeded his Chidori limit by three times the amount he was supposed to thus it tore up his CCS and damaged his heart. Naturally, Sakura was heartbroken that her childhood crush had come back only to settle a deed and was going to be taken from her again so quickly. For days Sakura wept at the side of Sasuke's grave marker, often muttering incoherent words of remorse. Nothing anyone said would comfort her, she refused to listen. Every night she prayed for a sign that she knew he was at peace, but there was nothing. She was forced to face the grim fact that Sasuke was a lifeless corpse buried in the ground.
However, some did not look at it so grimly as Sakura did. Naruto, Kakashi, even those who did not even like Sasuke such as Shikamaru saw his sacrifice as more of a blessing, that he stopped Akatsuki from getting what they wanted. Sakura merely brushed this off as being optomistic. Although the grim fate that caught up witht he Uchiha was horrible, it was also a time for celebration. Tsunade had stepped down from the position of Hokage and gave it to one more deserving, of course that was Naruto. Naruto would become the youngest Hokage to date. This would mark the time of peace between shinobi nations and for decades this peace would reign. Until one fateful night, ANBU would discover that their beloved Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki, was dead. Killed in his sleep. A kunai through the throat, they figured. His blood stained the sheets he had slept in that night, and along with his body, they were cremated along with his remains and placed in an urn. They would send all they could with their Hokage to the other side. But something was missing. The Kyuubi that was sealed inside of him, was gone. Apparently, whomever had killed him, had a way of stealing the Kyuubi from inside of him. This would go down in the history books as one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of Kirigakure no Sato.
But none except the higher ups in the village would know about this. The rest of the village was told that he had just grown old and time had caught up with him. The village mourned of course, as they did with the passing of all their Hokage and fallen shinobi. However, in the crowd, unbeknownst to anyone, there was a small boy that was only a Chuunin at the time. The only surviving heir of Shodaime Hokage, the son of Yamato, Leon stared at the funeral marker of Naruto Uzumaki, the one Leon was destined to succeed.
