Things had been turning up well for Ezeoha, and he was sure his children had even noticed the difference. He wasn't so... tense any longer after his rendezvous with Isi. He could call her that now, too, even if she had not told him in words that he could call her by her nick name. It was implied that he had the freedom to call her Isi, considering what they had done together. They were passed being just friendly with one another. In fact, they were quite friendly with one another, and that was partly the reason why Ezeoha was in such a good mood. He had been inactive in his flirtations for far too long, and Isi proved to be an outlet that he could gladly release all of his energy upon. He practiced flirting with her, mainly because even if he was a horrible flirt, she was not going to leave so soon after what they had went through together. No, he imagined she'd stick around for a little while, and that was all well and good.
It was also why Ezeoha was hanging around just outside of the Prideland borders. To be more precise, he was laying down under the shade of a tree, eyes nearly drooping closed as he waited for any signs of life, hopefully life in the form of his darling Isi. It was all too clear that Ezeoha was a pleased kitty, a throaty purr rumbling in his chest, and even when a fly landed on his nose and buzzed irritatingly about did he resist getting grumpy. Life was too good to let the little things bother him. He had been reminded of that all too recently. So, here he waited, wishing that he had not passed on his prized jewelry to his two children so soon, just so the red jewels could glint in the sunlight and attract attention to him. Surely she was somewhere around here...
His jaws opened wide as he yawned, and lazily he stretched forward, claws digging into the earth, rear rising into the air. Then, just as lazily as before, he plopped down back onto the earth. No dust floated in the air as an aftermath to his sudden drop, and that was a good sign. The lands were fertile, earth sprinkled with life, and dimly he wondered when his favorite flower would bloom. Ah, it was so wonderful... to be care-free once again.

Isithuzi had awoken later in this day... She couldn't leave the Pridelands just yet, she wanted to meet with Ezeoha again... Mmm, he had such a handsome look to him, in every aspect. However long she had searched, today, though, had all been unsuccessful; she had yet to see the golden pelt that she had grown so comfortable with.
Her eyes found him, though. Finally, success! She padded up to him from his side. "Hey handsome," she purred as she got close. "What's such a gorgeous thing like you doing out here all alone?" She asked playfully, plopping down in the grass too, rolling onto her back. Her pink eyes danced.

He heard her voice, and oh was it beautiful! Could he really have missed it when he was had barely been gone from her side for more then a day or two? It must be possible, because he had missed it, had missed her. She was the first lioness he had been close to, really close to, since seeing his children for the first time. Somehow this made her special, made him praise her for every tiny quality that she possessed. It wasn't love, not that. Instead it was some deeply held affection for the young lioness. She was probably not that much older then her own children... Oh, dear, he was not going to put himself into the mindset of a father, not after what he had done with her. It was still affection, but not quite that kind of affection.
He turned his head to her, a wide grin on his face. Hadn't he used almost those exact words when he had first seen her? Ah, the memory was so clear in his mind. She had been so lonely and yet so beautiful... and both of these things had drawn him to her. He imagined it would be difficult to part from her, and he knew that some time soon it would happen. Either she would stay and find out about his personal life, or leave and be blissfully happy, never believing that she had been close to a male who's sons was more her age.
"Waiting for someone equally as gorgeous to keep me entertained." His voice was roughened from his purring, red eyes glinting with pleasure at the very sight of her. Deliberately he patted the ground next to him with his tail, inviting her to lay down close to him. Of course, that could tempt him into thinking other things... but truly what he wanted was to flirt lightly and get to know Isi a little more. That was all, honestly. Purely innocent intentions.

Isi gave him a slow smile and rolled closer; just one roll was enough. "Looks like it's your lucky day, isn't it, Eze?" She asked. She was feeling the same way; she wanted to get to know him. "I've missed you," she said, it was the honest truth. She hadn't seen the male since the morning he left, and she hadn't felt more lonely in quite a while... Still, she was glad to be with him again now.
She was glad to hear his rough voice; she knew every bit as well as he that such an ailment was a result from either too much purring or too much roaring; and she doubted he'd been roaring all the time. "Glad to hear you're happy," she said, nuzzling into his fur. Though what she had for him wasn't love, it was infatuation, and she doubted she'd get to do this for a while. She knew in her heart that she wouldn't be back here for a while after tonight; the lioness had to get going. Back to her homeland, back to her pride. She shoved those thoughts out of her mind right now, though. She found them too depressing. She lightly drummed her paws on her belly quietly, an echo of her past Pride.

"Yes, I can imagine that today is my luck day, as well as the day before this one." His eyes glinted with the hidden meaning behind his words. It made him giddy to think about what he had done. He was back to being a cub, wanting to jump around and chase things (especially girl-things). But he was still an adult, and he could not jump upon these urges and do as he pleased. He didn't want Isi thinking he was mental, because though he was a handsome lion, being handsome would not make up for the fact that his brain did not work properly. She'd leave him a second, mostly out of fear from seeing this full grown lion jumping through the flowers. It would be a peculiar sight... and well, Ezeoha tried his best to look normal despite his current position as a 'pimp'.
She moved delightfully closer to him, so close that he felt her warm body press against his side. With a soft sigh he nuzzled his big fluffy mane against her cheek. These actions could easily be mistaken for love, but he knew that the both of them realized that it wasn't love. It was closer to friendship then to love. They respected one another, had fun together, and were similar... but it would never come to be anything more then that. "You're the reason for my happiness. I am glad to have seen you again." The way he said it... it was as if he knew that she was going to leave soon. Of course he didn't know exactly when... but the time would come, and she would go. He really would hate to see her leave.

Isi purred at his words. "I'm happy to have found you too, I've been looking all day," she said. "Must be that wonderful golden coat that hides you away," She said with a chuckle.
She took in his scent while she could. She'd taken it in all that night, but... She wanted to make sure it was imprinted in her memory. She could seek him out again...
Should she tell him she was leaving soon? She thought back, she hadn't really informed him of her plans, had she? He didn't really know she was in search of a fragmented pride, as Nadra Zuri had called it... She had a feeling, though, that he knew she wasn't going to be able to stick around.
He'd have to know sooner or later; he'd find out himself if she didn't tell him, and she liked the male too much to do that to him. She didn't love him deeply, but she would like to remain a friend of his. (She was sure that after the night's events, she would, but still.)
"I'm leaving sometime soon, Ezeoha," she said rather seriously. "I'm going back to my old Pride. I'm not sure if they're even alive anymore, but I'm going back. I have a gut feeling that there's still at least one other member of the Nchi'Mahadhi pride that's still alive. If I'm right, we can reform." She said, looking back to the handsome male's eyes. She hoped he wasn't mad at her for it, nor did she want to ruin his happiness, she hoped he would understand.

"Stereotypical Pridelander golden pelt." He chuckled, his grandfather, Mufasa, having had the same golden pelt as him. The genes had skipped a generation in his case, his mother a lovely pale tan, his blasted father a dusty black. And there he had been, the golden son, with mischevious red eyes and a tendency to get in trouble with female cubs' parents. His mother had tolerated him, his father though... that was a different case. Ezeoha hated his father, though Denahi was the reason Ezeoha was such a good father. Ezeoha had not wanted to be one bit similar to his father, and so strived to be the best parent he could be, and he did not necessarily fail in this task. His children loved him, he knew that when he looked at them. They were the perfect family... and perhaps that was why he did not have a permanent mate. They were fine as they were, and bring a female into their lives would only disrupt things. He'd wait until his children had all gone away, and then maybe he would find a lovely lady to spend the rest of his days with.
Isi broke off his train of thought when she spoke next, and it was more of how serious she was being that caught his attention. From what he had seen of her, she was as carefree and happy as he. But her words were something he already knew, and for a little while he looked away from her, across the savannah, observing a herd of antelope far off in the distance. Then his gaze turned back to her, red eyes understanding. She was correct in her assumption that he had already figured out that she was going to be leaving soon. "I know." His words were murmured softly, barely carrying on the air.
"I understand, and I figured you were going to leave soon. A rogue has a hard time staying in one place." He smiles gently, laying his head down on his paws, but nothing about his gestures seem to indicate that he's upset about this. No, he had accepted it already as truth and fact. "It's important to have a family, a home... so I wish you luck in finding them I wish you a safe journey and a happy life." It was the least he could do, wish her all these little things. There was not much else he'd be able to, except a repeat of the last time they were together.
Hmm... that wouldn't be too bad, actually.

She smiled, glad to see that he was accepting of it. "Thank you, Ezeoha," she said, smoothly putting her head under his chin nestling in his mane. "I'll come back to see you often, when I leave. I'm sure of it," she said before she pulled her head out again. "I think you'd like it there," she said, even though she doubted he'd come. "There was always a beat going on in the center of the Pride, and when you were there during one of the songs, you could feel it through you. And we danced and sung..." She said, laying on her back, belly-up. "It was really great, I've never forgotten the songs," She said with a chuckle and a smile. She looked up at him for an opinion, she wanted to know what he had to say of her old pride... She'd asked so many others. Would he think she was crazy like so many others did?

"I think I would like it if you came back for a few visits." Her next words silence him though, as if he gives the thought of leaving serious consideration. But, when it comes down to things... he can't. Ezeoha cannot just leave his children in the Pridelands and go wander off with Isi. In the end... she was just a female, not family, but friend. In comparison, family ended up being much more important then Isi. Sure his children were nearly adults, but they were only adolescents still. It would be wrong to leave them all alone. His daughters would weep (excluding Sineri, and adding his son Shaji). So, it was out of the question... and all he had to do now was tell her that.
"I'm sorry, but I can't leave my own home. As you long for your's, I long to stay here. I've got brothers and sisters... family that would make it far too difficult for me to just get up and walk away." He shakes his head, his eyes softening. It was a nice idea, to leave with Isi, but still an impossible one. So, he let the conversation continue on, listened intently to the words Isi used to describe her pride. He hoped that there were still fragments of it that Isi would find, so she could piece it back together and live in bliss with her family.
"Do you think... you could sing me one before you leave? I think I'd like to hear it." No, he didn't think that she was crazy. Different prides had different customs, and he would not begrudge her her own just because they differed from his. Music was beautiful in itself too, though he couldn't sing himself. She, on the other hand, probably could, if she had been part of a pride dedicated to music.

Isi chuckled. "It's fine," she said, licking him on the cheek as she rose to sit. "I'd love to sing you one!" She said happily, now all she had to do was pick one... "The thing about the songs is... well, it's not all vocal," she said as she continued through the playlist in her head, trying to pick out the funnest, most fast-paced one she could think of. Something in Isi loved preforming, Yes, she picked one! It was essentially the anthem of their pride... Now, all she had to do was find something suiteable for a drum... She took a quick look around, lamenting that hers got broken ages ago before she was old enough to know how to fix it.
"Ah," she said, rising to her feet, rolling a fairly hollow branch over and setting everything up.
"I think you'll like it," she said, happy to be preforming for someone for the first time in ages. The song opened with some drumming, short syncopated rhythms. Isithunzi put most of her weight on her back paws as she pounded on the log with her fronts. She was sitting except for her paws. The song picked up speed, she cleared her throat under the pounding of the "drum" and began to sing in a crystal clear voice, "Woza, oh woza, Woza ushapho, Oh woza ..." The song continued on, with her singing and beating. Really it was a unique tune accents and clipped notes every now and then. It ended with a loud "BAM" on the log, which is meant to be done very hard. Isi was no exception, little bits of wood went everywhere upon that last note. She had been smiling the whole time, but now had to make way for panting from the quick pace and multiple accents of the song.
"A log's not as good as a drum, but what'dyou think?" She asked between breaths.

With an admiring gaze, he watches her get up to find a substitute drum. He was pleased that she was not shy, that she was willing to perform for him. The main reason he wanted to hear her voice singing was so that he could remember this unique quality about her, and in turn remember her for the rest of his days. Sitting up, he fixed his gaze once again on her, though for a brief moment it flickered to the branch. He couldn't help but wonder what she was planning to do with it. Ezeoha wasn't exactly well-rehearsed in music, let alone what could be used as substitutions for actual instruments. It was only when she began to beat rythmatically on the hollow log that he understood its purpose. A drum. Well, she certainly knew how to improvise, and keep beat. Even he, musically inept, could tell that she knew what she was doing and had not made a mistake yet.
The beat of the drum could not compare to her voice. It was beautiful, and he fell into a lull, sedated state, eyes dreamily watching her sing. The words were something he couldn't understand, but they had meaning behind them, important. The way she sung emphasized it, and he could let her sing all day, and wished that when he had first met her he had asked her to sing. This was only going to make it more difficult for him to let her leave, but he was sure that letting her go on without him was for the best. She'd find someone to love, someone to care for her, someone who would adore her voice as much as he did. There was someone out there for... as he still hoped there was someone out there for him.
"That was wonderful, Isi. Beautiful. I can see why your pride appreciates music so much when it's coming out from your lips."

She liked the way he looked while she preformed. She hadn't really preformed for someone as important to her as Eze, usually her performances were heard by random passersby who would just stop and tell her "good job" before leaving again. The praise here was on a completely different level. The lioness caught her breath and smiled, happy that the one performance that had been intended as a performance was excellent. She knew that, if, when she got home to her pride's lands, she'd definitely be the Umshayi, she was an expert at all the songs.
"You're so sweet, Ezeoha," she said, nuzzling up against him. "That was basically the anthem of our Pride, that's the best way to describe it. It's called, 'We are Nchi'Mahadhi.' What's more amazing is that I've played that by memory from my childhood," she said. "Not a day's gone by that I haven't known the tune, the rhythm. It's one of my favorites," she said with a smile. "I'm glad you liked it."

It was good to see her so happy, and it was good to think that if this was the last time he was going to see her... she was not upset. His mind kept on switching from saying that this was going to be difficult, and that this was going to be easy. For one, he did not love her. But, on the other hand he did care deeply for her. They had connected in the brief time they had spent together. It wasn't the spark he expected to feel when in love... but it was something. He had felt it with Chinara, and with Kia, both of who had bore him children. Well, he didn't wish the same exact fate for Isi. At least he did not want her to have his kids, especially if she was leaving and going to be travelling abroad in search of a home. It would be no place for a cub, the roguelands. It wasn't a good time in her life for such a thing. So he hoped, hoped with his heart that no such consequences came from their time together.
"I would like to consider myself more sexy then sweet." He chuckles as she nuzzles him, and he returns the tender touch. "It's quite lovely, a perfect little anthem, and something so important to you... would be hard to forget. I think you'll remember it until the day you die." Some things he was taught as a cub stayed with him even now, but nothing as complex as a whole song, the rythym and tune. "I really did enjoy it. I'll remember you always for your pretty voice and your great talent."

Isi chuckled, "Yes, you are more sexy than sweet, my mistake." That smile lingered on her muzzle for a bit longer before her mind was made up. She wasn't one for long goodbyes, this one would be no different. Ezeoha and she had to part ways sometime in this day... and the sun was still pretty high up.
"Well, handsome, I guess I'd better get going. I'd like to cover a lot of ground today," she said with a smile. Would this be hard or easy? Would she miss him? "I'll be back to visit, keep an eye out for me," She said with a wink before she turned. She took a few steps away, but turned around for a moment, "I will be back, I promise," She said with a smile.

"I've spent my whole life honing my sexiness, and for you to completely ignore it for a little bit, oh, the trauma!" His voice had a dramtic flair to it, rasing a paw into the air to brush his bangs back away from his face. But once the act was over and done with, he was grinning at her. Just then he indulged himself in acting like a cub for a little bit, just being truly happy that he had a 'play mate'. But he regained his composure shortly after, his grin dying down into a small, but nevertheless happy smile. He was sensing that things were coming to an end. He could practically feel her need to get going while the sun was still up.
And here it was, the good-bye, and somehow it tasted bitter-sweet. Bitter because she was leaving, but sweet because she would be back one day. He'd definitely keep an eye out for her, for those pink eyes, grey body and melodic voice. "Good bye, Isi, I'll see you when you return. There's no way I'll let you pass by without stopping you in order to spend some time with you. Have a safe trip and keep well." He stood up then, and as she turned away to go in one direction, he turned and walked away in the other. Not looking back to see her one last time... seemed to make things easier.
