[ This is an RP just for myself. It's basically a kind of post-plot RP I've been meaning to do but didn't have the time or I kept forgetting. XD ]

Restless thoughts plagued his mind as he stalked about the edge of his territory, hidden from view from those who had untrained eyes. He skulked in the shadows, moving softly and quietly as silk, barely a leaf rustling at his movements, so practiced was he in the art of being hidden. His scarlet eyes glowed softly and glinted dangerously as he observed his surroundings, so tensed was his body.

He was alone at the moment, having wanting the urge to go and hunt for food, away from his family, all females, who glowed so brightly in comparison to him he wondered why he, a demon, could dwell among them. Snorting silently as his stupidity of such a revelation, he paused when he spotted his youngest child coming through the forest. His eyes flashed for a minute, showing his anger at her incompetence, before he settled back into his familiar emotionless mask.

Ever since the news Ringlet had told him of her pregnancy, he had been overly cautious. Half-breeds were unwanted in the Kalona world, and he had not wanted any of his kind--especially those of his old Clan, should they come back and find him somehow--to discover that he had, indeed, mated with a breed known to be under them. Perhaps it would be no surprise, for long ago, he had loved another. She had been pushed to the far reaches of his mind, and only now did he see her in his mind's eye.

His youngest, Blackfire, eerily held a resemblence to her, although the first female he remembered did not have wings, nor the strange designs. He just knew that she had a horn, was black, and had gold in her mane. He shook his head, frowning, before he decide to confront Blackfire, who, now that he had scrutinized her, had been looking for him. He emerged soundlessly, barely a sound or shift in the air before he spoke one word.

"Blackfire."

The poor mare jumped nearly a good six feet into the air, proving once again to her father how much of a failure she was. Though she had been trained as a foal, Blackfire did not have the quick ability her older sister, Hinode, did. Glaring at her father--she did inherit her father's infamous glare--and remained silent. She knew that if she spoke after showing her surprise would be the end of her. Windfame was a tough teacher despite all appearances.

Her mother had once told her that her father had been truly kind once; she highly doubted that. Perhaps Windflame's intention, at the time, had been more to stop the annoyance than to rescue her mother, but she hadn't been born then, and so she did not know truly what he had thought at the time. She had seen flashes--quickly hidden--of his bloodlust whenever he glanced her way, or Ringlet's way, or even Hinode's. Violence, blood, and death was in the stallion's veins, whether he denied it or not.

He was just prone to think more. He was raised that way, and so he raised her that way, too. Silence reigned supreme between the two as Blackfire felt the tension continue to rise. Finally, she spoke as expressionlessly as possible, "Father." It was their way of greeting each other; a way to say "hello" through extreme politeness. She shifted--bad move!--but she couldn't help it. Windflame's endless gaze, with hardly a blink of an eye, made her nervous. She was more Wind than Kalona, after all.

Indeed, Blackfire's surprise irritated him to no end. She was not disobedient, but neither was she obedient. She was a mare who tended to do things in her own way, and in that respect was far too much like her mother. Blackfire shared more of his personality than did Hinode, however, and Hinode was more disappointment than failure. Blackfire was far from disappointing, but difficult to bring up to his view on standard caliber. He noted, though, that she did take his training seriously.

Perhaps he would be less harsh...? No, he decided. If he lessoned his training sessions Blackfire would only become confused and suspicious, and he did not need her doubting his ability when she herself was still so poor. "What are you doing here? Have I not told you to stay in the cave?" he spoke firmly, quickly, and concisely. To the point, and the only one he had to (force?) himself to be gentle with was his mate, but he was not always "kind" to her.

Another long moment of silence penetrated the two as he stared at his daughter, waiting patiently, expectantly. "Father," the mare began, making his sharpen his gaze, watching her fiddle, causing a slight frown to mar his pristine face, "I came to ask you for... for another story." He raised a brow, wondering at her childish request. He had only told stories to her as a foal because he knew foals were fragile; especially those of a lesser race.

Despite that, Blackfire held on, for she also had the blood of his race in her, so she was slightly--slightly--stronger than most others. He continued to muse as he paced back and forth, a habit he formed when he was watching his prey as he debated whether to torture it or kill it instantly, but with his offspring, he probably seemed much more intimidating. Blackfire was such a small thing, after all; small like her mother.

"I came to ask you for... for another story," she said, nervous. With the way Windflame kept pacing back and forth, she wanted to run back to the cave and hide behind Ringlet, but Blackfire wasn't a coward, and she wouldn't run from her father. She was pretty defiant too, although she appreciated how he "doted" on her when it came to training. Hinode was an airhead like their mother (though there were a lot of things her sister understood that Ringlet didn't) and so, Blackfire fiddled nervously under Windflame's scrutinizing gaze.

He hadn't spoken yet, but his former words echoed in her mind. She knew it was his way of being protective, though she wished he wasn't so threatening about it! She couldn't tell if he "loved" her (or their family) or if he was doing all of this for a bit of convenience. As a young foal she had been treated a bit more gently but still just as harshly. Windflame had been different then... she wasn't sure what had changed him, but it was as if he had embraced or found something that he shouldn't have looked upon. Her father had, lately, been exuding an evil, dark aura that he hadn't had when she was younger... well, sort of.

He had a dark aura when she was a filly, but it was mostly because he brooded a lot, or it was because he was forcing himself not to eat his family, since he was a Kalona, and they needed flesh and blood to live... well, sort of. She wasn't sure how her father was doing it, being able to live off the tiny creatures that lived around their home... she knew he'd have preferred something along the lines of bears or lions, even deer or buffalo... but that meant he'd have to reveal his location, and he wouldn't risk that, especially for family... or so she was told. By Ringlet. Sometimes her mother's pure innocence made Blackfire wonder just how Windflame snagged her and impregnated her, since Ringlet was tiny (like a butterfly compared to a hawk) and her father was gigantic!

He debated scolding her for asking such a ridiculous question, but held the notion back and instead thought her foolish. Did she think she was still a foal? She had reached the age where he would be able to control her now, though she would more than likely fight it unconsciously... that was fine. He knew that there were times she sneaked out by herself--did she think he wouldn't notice?--but if she came back and obeyed his will much the same way, it did not matter to him. "Art thou foolish, child?" he asked her, a sneer in his tone though his expression remained immovable.

"Thou art an adult now, fully grown! A story at thy age!" He did not laugh, but his tone implied his amusement, though his gaze glinted dangerously. When he spoke in his old tongue, it meant he was serious. She needed more discipline. What an idiotic daughter he had! He should have killed her mother, or rather, let those annoying pests called bees go at Ringlet. He contemplated for a while, it was soon time to break away from the bright, dim-witted mare he called his 'mate'. An ear twitched as he waited for Blackfire's reply. The mare had gone silent, probably understanding she had angered him.

Blackfire did not yet know she was the 'key'; she would be his revenge. However, if he was discovered before he could put her to use, it would do no good; he would have to find the other one. Not Hinode, but the other one... the one he abandoned. Then again, he did not care so long as his ambitions, his revenge, was done. He would wreak havoc upon the Clan when he returned, for he did not run away as they probably thought he did. No; no... he escaped in order to do things his way... Ah, that was probably where Blackfire gone her strong-mindedness. Difficult to contend with, but workable. "Speak, daughter. Thy art testing mine patience," he sharply ordered. He demanded an explanation for her odd request.

She flinched when he began to speak in the old tongue; she knew that tone of voice. Though he never changed his expression once (damn he was creepy!), his voice told her all she needed to know. He was making fun of her again (why did she bother!?), but she had hoped he would say yes... she wasn't sure why she had asked for another story, but now she knew the reason (she had to ask herself a few times why she had wanted to even find him). She had wanted to learn about her father's past. He was also so disclosed, and not even her mother knew very much about her father--aside from that he was demonic, prone to burst and lose control at any given moment.

"..." She didn't make a sound and allowed him to continue poking fun at her for a while, knowing that if she were to make a snarky comment he would just punish her. His punishments always left her half dead; she was only lucky she had such black fur to hide all the scars he had given her over the seasons. When he finally told her to speak, she could tell he was now expecting her to explain herself (not that it wasn't already obvious when he turned cold, deadly eyes on her). "...Because I... wanted to know you better, so that I could... be your pride, and be proud to be your daughter," she said, forcing herself not to stutter. He was terrifying right now; she couldn't understand how this stallion was her father! The only resemblance that marked her as his own were the eye markings under their eyes.

In the end it seemed she had either amused him or angered him; she hoped for the former, she was safer that way. If she had angered him, she was done for. Even though all her punishments had left her half-dead, she was never left for dead at all. She held onto this hope thinking that perhaps Windflame did love her somewhere deep inside his ice-encased stone heart, but she had to hide that tiny hope. It kept her going, after all. She almost didn't hear her father when he finally spoke again, so lost in her thoughts that she was. Blackfire tried to play it off that she had been listening, but she had been thinking about escaping to the *mountains on the morrow as her father finally began to speak once more.
