It had only been a short time since Khepri had returned to him at the sea, but with every passing day she seemed to grow stronger, her eyes became less glazed and he could see the old spark within them. The spark which he had fallen for all that time ago on their journey together to the white sands of the sea.

His large body stretched as a soft ray of light fell through the portal through which they had entered the den many days earlier. His dark eyes opened slightly as the sun danced along his dark paws. Turning gently to his deep red mate he nudged her on the shoulder and whispered in her ear. "Khepri, love are ye awake?" His dark maw split in a grin, the thick white marking which graced his face splitting as he beamed. "Tis a beautiful day out, do ye fancy a quick walk on tha beach today?" He smiled hopefully. He so wanted to parade down the each with his golden eyed beauty at his side. It wasn't so much that he was a vein beast, far from it, but he wished the world to see how beautiful khepri was, in his eyes, she was perfect and he wanted the world, and their potential pride to know that too.

He was, as always completely devoted to her, she was his lifes flame and he adored her more than any other. They belonged together.

Light seemed to sparkle as her eyes slowly opened, cracking just wide enough to close once more as the dazzling sunlight invaded the dark happiness of her slumbering mind. Here in the cool cave, with all it's darkness and dank smell from various washouts of a raging sea, Khepri felt safe and warm. It was an odd feeling, being able to feel this way when she was so cold at the same time. Maybe it was Kota's body pressed so lovingly against her own, maybe it was the fact that the spot she lay upon was warm from the heat of her own body. Either way, Khepri was warm and happy and for once content just to stay where she lay and not move again.

this was Kota though, she wanted to do everything with her large black mate. He made her feel safe, he made her feel loved, and he made her feel wanted. To feel wanted was something she'd never known before meeting him. Her own parents hadn't really wanted her, the Ela hadn't wanted her and now of all things... it appeared that this place might allow her some comfort and a home... the one place that wanted her, with the one male that wanted her.

A paradise. That's what it had to be.

"Y'wanna go ou' on th' beach 'eh?" Khepri said, her voice slurred more by sleep than it normally was. "Well Ah suppose Ah could go fer a walk, havn' been ou' o' 'ere in qui'e a bit."

Curling her white paws, the large crimson colored lioness stretched out her spine and snuggled up against his ebony fur. His mane seemed to envelop her body with it's heat and fuzziness, keeping her wrapped up in warmth and happiness. He was such a fluffy male, it made her smile a little to be curled up so with him. If he hadn't wanted to walk then she would have asked him if she could just stay like this for a little bit longer, nestled up against him and happy.

Comfort was one of the many things she'd been denied for the years she'd been walking along, so comfort was one of the things she desired for some reason and didn't take for granted.

"So then, where too mah love? The breakwave or the beach?" Her smile seemed to be broader than it had ever been.

The large black male couldn't help but chuckle as the deep red femme snuggled deeply in to his mane, her cheek pressed deep in to his neck and he grinned watching half of her face and shoulders vanish in to his large thick mane. He silently counted his blessings that his beutiful golden eyed lady had returned to him. The sea was home now, he loved this place more than anywhere else in the world, but, but without Khepri something had been missing for the time he had spent here alone.

Now she strode by his side, or at least she would, he would parade her down the beach his beautiful ruby rose, pressed against his dark body. His Khepri, back with hima nd becoming well again.

It amazed him to say the least how quickly she had recovered from her injuries, she was a mirricle, she was his miricle. Smiling in a secretive manner, his lips split spreading that white line accross his grin. "Aye lassy, I be fancyin a dip dah'n in tha waves if ye feel up ta it?" He groomed her forehead slowly then wondering if perhaps he was pushing her. "We can stay ere fer a while longer if ye like, tha suns jus' comin up, tis still a bit chill on tha san's yet."

He tilted his head, his mane falling over her nose as he did so, he couldn't help but admire her, she was so beautiful to him.

A deep chuckle came from deep within her white chest at his words. He told her of sand, though she had grown up on it's grains as a cub so long ago. It was to be said that she'd never had to worry about the dampness of the waves or the coolness of water and rains, but Khepri knew the cool that could come with the eve and night, freezing the sands while they slept.

Sure this wasn't the Firekin desert but she was sure that the sands wouldn't hurt her or freeze her as long as she was with Kota.

"Ah grew up on sand mah love. Ah'll be perfectly fine." Khepri told him, her voice soft as she slowly brought herself to stand above him. "Ah could use with some sunligh' as well yo' know. Ah've been missin' it all this time."

Peering out at the sunlight peeking into the den, Khepri's eyes flashed with want. The sun, especially that of the morning sun, it was what she was named for and what she loved more than anything.

Well, not more than Kota, but it was up there.

"Oh Kota... Ah miss th' feel o' th' sun on mah fur. Le's go for a walk love." Khepri said softly.

'Kota gave a quick nod as he got to his foot paws and pressed his shoulder Gently in to his mates. His dark fur mingled well with her deep red and he noticed it with a smile. She was so beautiful, he couldn't feel happier. "Well tha sea's sun will soon warm ye blood lass, tis a beautiful day out." With that said he stepped towards the open mouth of the den, carefully watching Khepri incase she needed his assistance. He knew she was still fragile, despite what she said, how she acted, he didn't want a simple stroll to turn in to a catastrophe.

"I always fer get ye grew up on tha sands lassy, ye jus' don' be a lookin like somone who's always ad sand in 'er toes." He grins a roguish grin. "Tho I suppose evry desert 'as ta ave a rose." He smiled in a cheeky manner, he did so love to compliment Khepri, to let her know what he thought of her.

"A wee swin in tha sea'll brighten' ye right up love, tis wonerful this timeintha mornin." He gave a rough growling puurr then nuzzling at her ears "Ye know I be a swearin ye get more beautiful by tha day khepri, I be thinkin tha sea airs a doin ye a mighty spot 'o' good." He grinned nipping lovingly at her cheek.

It took her a little bit to attempt to hide the fact that she was afraid of water and the cold feeling it brought over her fur. Of course this was Kota, the male who loved to swim and loved the rush of the sea over his large perfect body more than anything.

Purring and nosing at his shoulder a little, Khepri let a chuckle come from her white muzzle and suddenly whisped from his side. She was as fast as she'd ever been, and it was all thanks to him. In the space of a heartbeat she was out of the den and into the sunlight, twirling around and sighing happily.

If there was anything to be said of Khepri it was that she was quick at healing, strong beyond compare and fast as the night was short. It all came from where she'd grown up and how she'd lived her life. She had needed to be strong to survive for two years on her own, from cubhood all the way to adulthood by herself and feeding herself. Somehow through all of that she'd survived. So the strength and healing were of course to be expected. As well as speed to escape those that were stronger and deadlier than she was with her gentle ways.

"Aaaaaaaah Kota.... th' sun feels so grea' on th' fur aftah so long in a dark den like tha'." Khepri breathed, her muzzle split into a wide and dazzling smile, white teeth shining in the sunlight like pearls from the ocean.

To be a lioness that lived along the ocean with her pirate love.... she would be the happiest female alive for the chance to do such. It was her mate that gave her strength, who made her feel wanted and loved and had revived her when she'd been on the edge of death so long ago. Now she would repay him with every ounce of love within her huge crimson body.

With a hearty laugh the dark male pounded on to the beach after his red goddess. The fall of his body upont he loose golden sands sent a splurge of sand pelting up around him creating a sort of wave of golden white around him. Shaking his body of the dusty sand which melded in to his jet black coat he pounded playfully after her his large paws padding at her tail. "Isn't it beautiful lass? 'tis a 'ome like no other" He grinned his coal black eyes glimmering like tiny marbles.

"C'mon lassy ah'll race ye dahn' ta tha brine" he beamed then and licked her cheek quickly before he pelted off down the sands his tail high in the air though he had no intention of beating Khepri he wanted to play with ehr on the sand, to toss and turn and pounce and n** and lick and play on the pale sandy shore.

A smile spread over her white muzzle as she danced about in the sand, letting it mix with her fur so the burning grains would warm her faster than the suns simple rays. Despite their strength, the suns rays weren't heating her cold body up fast enough, the den had been freezing and despite Kota's hot body pressed against her, Khepri had shivered and suffered for how cold she'd been.

Turning her head and smiling, Khepri darted after her dark mate, her crimson melding with the sand a bit as she moved. "Yo're pretteh fas' still' aren' yo'?"

Watching his large ebony body move before her, Khepri tried to force her strengthening body after him, but her muscles suddenly flashed. Digging her toes into the sand, the ex-firekin was forced to do what she'd have done back on the burning sands of the desert and force her paws into the sand so she'd stay upright. It didn't work that well though. Her stride skipped and Khepri tumbled onto the sands, her face digging into the sands so her muzzle was covered beneath the sand.

Flicking her ears spastically, them being the only part of her head that could be seen, Khepri flicked her tail and dug her claws into the sands before her head lifted and laughter danced through the air.

"Guess Ah'm still not tha' steady."

'Kota stopped nearlly as suddenly as Khepri his whole body forcebly jolting him backwards, his eyes full of worry. "Are ye alright love?" he whispers nudging his nose over every inch of her body his dark eyes full of worry. "Take it easy lass, ye'll be givin' me an 'art attack an I wanna live a while longer yet." He grinned and settled down int he sand next to her. Knowing that she was okay made him relax a little. He was more than willing to sit and watch the waves for a while.

"Lets jus' sit ere fer a while. let tha sun warm ye up." He smiled gently his pale lips turning in a gruin as he nuzzled at her sandy cheeks blowing away the sand from her face. "Ye glow out in tha sun lass." He whispers gazing at his blood red beauty happily. She hadcertainly put on a fair amount of weight since returning to him and the sands. He had been bringing plenty of food to her though and he was mighty glad she had taken to the mostly fishy based diet he was provideing. He did so love to fish.

"Ye should take it easy lassy. ye'll do ye self a mischeif ye will." He paused and cleared his throat. "you know all i want if fer ye to be well again love."

"Sorreh Kkota, Ah'm still tryin ta get mah bearin's back." Khepri said with a blush flitting across her face as she tried to stand and fell back down to her belly once more. "One o' these days Ah'll be feelin bettah enough ta go runnin' down on the beach. Then Ah'll race ya to th' watah an' back again in no time."

Her tarnished golden eyes winked a bit and she let out a yawn of happiness. The sun had finally started to do it's job and his black fur was like a heat magnet. It warmed her fur up with him crushed to her side like that.... but it also brought to light something else.

"Ah think Ah'm gettin fat now Kota." Khepri said with a little bit of disdain tainting her slurred voice. She'd usually be wraith thin or anorexically so, only once in her life before had she been full bodied and that had been when she'd been a cub. But now she wasn't just full bodied... she was fat. Like... bursting fat. And it made her feel strange from her toes to her ears, like there was something inside of her making her puff up the way that she was.

Maybe she had worms like what her mother had told her about as a cub? That could be bad, it could be from the fish right? Would fish give one worms? Khepri had just been told that eating rotten meat that's sat out for a little too long would be what did it, that it would make you sick until you were upchucking your little belly.

"Kota Ah think Ah'm sick or somethin'. Ah'm too fat an' it feels like there's somethin.... THERE."

'Kota tilted his head. It had acctually pleased himt o see Khepri acctually looking healthy with her weight, okay she looked a little healther than your average lion but that was okay, she needed to be fed well to get better. "Ye don' look fat love, ye look healthy." He raised a brow and moved his body to look at her belly.

Even in 'kotas untrained eye he could see she was acctually ratehr bloated. Wrinkling his dark brow he pressed his nose against her swollen abdoment, his coal black eyes looking over her deep red belly.

"Fells alrigh' kinda lumpy. Maybe it was tha zebra I fetched for ye. did ye swallow a hoof? Feels kinda solid." He pressed his nose again in to her belly trying to feel what was so lumpy within. His dark mane fell over his eyes as he did this though he peered through his bangs tro gaze up at Khepri, she truely did look like she was glwoing in the sun, far more than he remembered when they had travelled together. "ye look very radient today lassy." He grinned nudging along the line of her belly trying to feel out what was causing her destended stomach.

Lifting a dark eyebrow, Khepri twisted her body and giggled from his gentle mane against her belly. Nobody besides Kota had ever touched her like that, which in a way made her inexpicably happy and yet at the same time made her uncomfortable. Other females knew what it was to help a male, to give them happiness back and possibly even more when they needed it.

She didn't.

"No Ah didn' ea' a 'oof from it." Khepri rumbled, her chuckle coming from deep within her chest. "So it is solid? Tha's.... worryin' righ' there."

Rolling her shoulders softly and attempting to adjust her body to the ground, a sudden sharp pain like she'd never felt before caused her to grunt and twitch her bright colored body. Something had kicked her from inside her own body, but unfortunately because she'd not lived with her mother throughout her life she'd had no chance to ask her mother what it meant.

Cubs.

'Kota startled when the kick from within Khepri's belly bumped him right int he nose. Looking down with confusion painted upon his black and white face he lapped at her stomach for a moment parting the white fur so he could see her stomach.

The dark male was far from educated when it came to male - female relations, but he and Khepri were mates and as such, well they had done things as she had become well. It was sort of the natural way of things. He hadn't even thought about it. Swallowing hard he cleared his throat roughly, his pink tongue lapping out over his pale lips. "Lassy I be thinkin' yer pregnant." He blinked owlishly at his blood red mate, his coal eyes resting on her rolly belly.

He wasn't really sure what to think, he hadn't expected cubs so soon, Khepri was barely well enough to wander about let alone bare cubs. "Ah'm sorry love this is all my fault." He rumbled his nose running along her distended stomach. "Ye aint strong nuff ta be barein' no cubs." He looked away guiltily, what would happen when it came to the time? Though his mate was always proud she was far from well enough to be bareing cubs. What if they hurt her? Or worse killed her or worse still, they died with her?

Shaking his head his dark mane fell over his worried eyes as he fixed his gaze on her stomach. Cubs, the thought of being a father was the last thing on his mind, he was more worried that Khepri was not strong enough to bring young ones in to the world, no matter how strong she insisted she felt.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 30, 2007 7:22 pm

Tarnished golden eyes flashed for a moment. Her mother had given birth to her, but never once had she seen another pregnant lioness in all her time alive. With the exception of possibly Pona, but then she hadn't been sure at the time. But pregnant? What in the world was she to do now that she was pregnant?

Khepri's thoughts swirlled around in her head for a moment, leaving her incapable of soothing her mate while it was obvious that the worry was eating at him. Instead she was being eaten by her own worry, that she would hurt them with any movement she made, whate if she ate something wrong? What if her running just now had strained them? They were big enough that Kota could feel them kick, that meant taht they were big enough that they could be hurt even more. More of them to BE hurt really. And why was it that she hadn't known despite them being in her own body?

Snapping from her own thoughts, Khepri reached out and nosed at Kota's ears gently. "Don' go gettin' all ben' outta shape like tha'. Y'kno' tha' Ah'm strong an' powerful. Ah'll be fine. An we shoul' be 'appy tha' we got cubs, no' worrehed like this. It's a 'appy time love, le's make it 'appy."

Of course she was still worried and fretting that she wouldn't be able to hold them, or that she'd lose them before they were born. However she knew that she would be perfectly fine. Maybe they would be as well, hopefully they inherited hers and Kota's strength, both bodily and mentally.

Well Kota's mental strength anyway, her mental strength was a fleeting thing.

Dark ears peered out above his extra fluffy mane and he smiled weakly at his firey red maiden. "Aye lassy I know ye strong, but yer still not ye normal self." He sighed gently though beneath that dark fur his cheeks burned in an embarressed manner, this blush spread acvcross his pale nose and turned his nose a soft flushed pink.

"I am appy lassy..I..wull I always dreamed o tha day wen we would ave little uns paddin' about, lil you an mes, or not so little." He grinned sheepishly trying to push away the worry that niggled constantly at his mind.

His heart leapt quietly in his chest as he imagined what would happen, as he dreamt for amoment of his happy family, his beautiful golden eyed love and their small rough looking sea fareing cubs, it was something to dream of, but there in the corner of that dream was the ever present darkness, taht perhaps it was too soon, that maybe he would never see his babes, that Khepri would vanish from his life forever. It was a horrible thought and he forced it from his mind.

"I know we'll git through this lassy, bu..well ye need ta just rest either in or out o tha den..twill be fer tha best." He looekd at her pleadingly, he knew she was too cold int he den alone but out on the beach she could stay warm and rested. "Git some nice sun bathin done an ah'll bring ye an tha lil sea farers there dinna?" He grinned roguishly, he couldn't stay sad for too long, the worries he had still floated about but this needed to be a time of hope. They were to be parents.
