In the past month, I have noticed 2 scams running ramped, in fact, my daughter and I have been hit with either one or both of them. Watch Out, don't let these fools trick you! 1. Chain Letters/Spams promising that if you post comments to a certain # of profiles that you will receive thousands in gold. Here's one I received just the other day: try this out! Send this to at least 10 people and then press F5! You'll get 10,000 gold This is a spam. It's garbage! This doesn't work and only promotes clogging of the Gaia server and garbage in your comment section. There are no macros or cheats that allow a person to gain thousands.2. Emails from supposed representatives of Gaia asking for personal information like your name, email address, and password.
It contained the Gaia colors and logo. Sounded totally professional and actually said that because she entered her password incorrectly numerous times Gaia needed to verify her personal information such as her username, password, email address and real name. My daughter received this one and if I hadn't been checking on her she might have fallen for it. Especially because she had been blocked from Gaia for 15 minutes when she kept putting her password in wrong. We think it was some sort of macro that was generated by the hacker/scammer that was alerted when she was banned.
This was a scam and could have lead to my daughter's account being hacked. We reported it and Gaia administrators took it from there.

Another scam that caught many Gaians in it's trap this summer was the following:
Hey, my friend told me 2 tell all of my friends this , so listen up!
No really do.
If someone by the name of j_neutron07 wants to add you to their list don't accept it. Its a virus Tell everyone on your list because if somebody on your list adds them you will get it too It is a hard drive killer and a very horrible virus Please pass on to everyone on your list We need to find out who is using this accounts. Sorry for the inconvenience. Copy and paste this message to everyone on your list PLEASE I am doin it even though its alot of people to go by SO DO IT TOO
If someone posts any type of warning in your comments or sends you a private message, ignore it/report it. It's just another scam.

erm, yes, about scams, here's a tricky one i came across:
someone was telling about how awesome their guild, how it is free of charge and if you would like to join, just click on the link below BUT there were some glitches and you might get logged out so just enter your name and password in and it should take you right to the guild's home page
well, i clicked on it (just to look) and it looked just like gaia's home page, no joke
really well done actually i'll give them that, the only thing that was different was that at the top in bright red letters was the sign "THIS IS NOT PART OF GAIA ONLINE, DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR USERNAME OR PASSWORD" yup, so be on the lookout for that sign, or something similar, cause it's really the only thing that could possibly be a warning

if you follow any link and are asked to log into gaia take the time to read the address bar. it should include "http://www.gaiaonline.com" and then whatever nonsense they have after that

Also note,
Don't, and ppl i repeat, DO NOT fall for those scams with the gift boxes.
I know that they seem very appealing and you want to try your luck. soory but hteperson has just tried to scamm you. dont donate to them dont talk to them, and report them to gaia.
Iwas scammed by one of those, it was only 1k, but still.
so dont do any of those gift box contest things.

When my guild was hacked, before the hacker destroyed it and locked us out, they edited my words and added in links where you could "Get free gold" it was all a hoax.
Never Ever believe anything that says you're going to get free gold!
