With all totally different actors, different accents and different plots, maybe some going a bit farfetched. To be honest, I would have think it would have been ruined since the English never make any good shows wink

It would probably be more like Star trek, and would therefore suck.
Not saying Star Trek's bad, I like Enterprise, it's just that from what I've seen is someof the best American tv show are knockoffs of brittish shows.

I hated the movie almost entirely because it was too American (And because the storyline was s**t and Paul McGann was only cast because of his hair style at the time). Imagine how I'd feel about the entire show being made by the Americans.

Um, no. Just no. No. No. NO.
It would be a travesty, work against the natural order of things.
For starters, they probably couldn't get away with the overt homosexual references (what's Torchwood's reception like, hmm?), which is GOOD in a mainstream TV show if it helps at all to crack down on discrimination... Doctor Who is very camp (at least this recent version).
It's also very British. It wouldn't work any other way. He drinks tea for goodness sake, and we all know - actually, we don't all know - what Douglas Adams (who incidently WROTE for Doctor Who!) makes of American tea. Some of them apparently just don't get it.
Doctor Who (and H2G2 for that matter) are just... inseperable from their Britishness. British comedy (Pythons, people, Pythons, Blackadder, Mr Bean, Fawlty Towers, The Good Life, My Family, After You've Gone, My Hero, FRENCH AND SAUNDERS, The Viccar of Dibley, etcetcetc...) I can't imagine it being good any other way. We have Jack, Jack's enough - imagine if Jack was actually the Doctor, please... It would be too gung-ho and potentially cliche otherwise.
Actually, recent Doctor Who is strictly Welsh. xDDD

Ahaha, yesss! I know what Douglas Adams makes of American tea. And for main American characters, Jack is about all I can take...he's a good character, but one is enough.
As for Torchwood, it's been edited down just a little bit..enough so that it's not like watching HBO, but keeps the graphic-ness in.... ><

Take it back to your hotel room, open it, and take a big, deep sniff. Careful! You may feel a little heady, but I assure you this is perfectly legal." xD Or words to that effect. <333 I need to read more Adams. o3o (Why did I start at the post-humous - ...I won't even think about how I've spelt that - then nick half the radio shows, I don't know.) Jack is... adorable. In the way he's so alone in his hyped-up, Time-whacked Americanness. In Wales. xD

Umm... I don't think I really have any more to add that has not already been said. Doctor Who is quintessentially British, everything about the show is (even Jack who appears to be an American written by a Brit, Hah about time we did it to you!!). If the show was made in America, it might work but not in the same way. I know this sounds redundant but thats the only way to say it. Doctor Who is what it is because of the decades of writers, crew and cast, that have been involved in it. You just cant transpose that, they tried with the movie and it didn't work. In fact is was so wrong they decided to wait until enough people had forgotten about the series to start again (Well that and no one at the BBC would touch those kinds of budgets for a while!)
Its a nice idea in principal, actually NO! Its not a nice idea its a very bad one! Bad! Bad idea! No cookie for you!
...Umm I guess I did have something to add.
