How can you tell if lace is of poor quality?
(I know im asking alot atm but its better than making HUGE mistakes)

A lot of it has to do with the feel and texture of the lace, or just by looking at what it's made of. Better quality lace is going to be softer to the touch, and overall look nicer. You should look for cotton or rayon-- Cotton cluny (example), cotton eyelet (example), venise lace (example), net lace (example), etc, and stray away from the scratchy poly synthetics.

If you're sewing your garments, which lace you should choose depends mostly upon personal preference and your favored style of dress. For example, Sweet Lolita uses a lot of cotton lace, whereas classical and gothic brands seem to favor net lace and venise lace.

Hello friend!

Um, I agree with what Cyrin wrote. Good quality lace is soft to touch and bad quality is rough on your skin and makes you itchy.

Agreeing with what everyone has said so far, soft and natural is usually the best kind.

Also make sure to watch out for bad patterns of lace, which can be made with good materials. You want to stay away from things that are TOO over the top, and be really careful when matching two different patterns.

Too many times I have seen lace where the pattern looks akward and cluttered, when they do too many flowers, or flowers and hearts, or etc.

Happy shopping!
