Ever Sacrifice was watching her daughter, Vidia, play over near the river's edge. "Be careful. Don't fall in," she called across the distance where she was standing close to a weeping willow. This tree gave her so many beautiful memories, from the first time she had met her mate, to when she showed him she was carrying his children. And they were beautiful babies at that. She smiled to herself at the memories.
The filly turned her tan face and blacken muzzle to look over her shoulder with a cheeky grin. She bounded away from the water, her legs still wobbly beneath her. "Watch, watch, watch," she said quickly before she leaped like a doe into the air. She heard the red mare gasp and landed sprawled on the ground with a whoosh of air escaping her mouth.

From just within the forest wall, Tawali stalked slowly toward the river. Behind him, dragging her feet, was a disgruntled looking foal. Her mismatched eyes were lowered, as were her ears and her tail. She looked thoroughly exhausted. Tawali smiled. He had been teaching his daughter the basics of flight that morning, and in her plucky, charisamatic way, she had gone into it like a bull and worn herself out. Her pelt, so similar to her mother's, was shiny with sweat, and her two tone mane and tail were limp with wind and heat. Her shrivelled appearance just made him chuckle.
"C'mon 'Suli! Ma'n Vid'a are jus' do'n 'ere. By t'e riv'r. Ye'll be able te cool do'n in t'e wat'r if'n ye's quick!" He chuckled softly at her softly frowning face as she looked up at him, her bright, green and blue eyes questioning and contemplative. She shook her head though, deciding walking required more of her concentration then replying to her father. Chuckling again, Tawali turned and chased up behind her, nudging her backside with his nose. "Now now, missie! Ge'h tha' shuffle on!"
"Bu'h DODA!" 'Suli cried as she was shoved forcefully into a trot, her and her father breaking the cover of the trees, so close now to that cool water. "My hooves are hurt'n my wings are sore'n Ah don' wanna go swimmin'!" But it was just as she said that that a familiar voice drifted over the small distance separating her and Tawali from the willow. 'Suli's ears pricked and she stopped, looking around for her sister. A smile broke over her features and she looked up at her father. "Is tha' Vidia an' Etsi?"
"Why no'h come wit' me'n see then eh?" Tawali smiled, and nuzzled against his daughter's face. "Mayhap, they's come te see us! Wha' ye reckonin'?" 'Suli's eyes lit up and she looked down the river bank toward the voice and toward their 'family willow', as her father had once described it to her. He had explained in that talk, that if she gave any of her feathers to someone, or placed them on something, she would always be able to find it again. She had asked if that was why Etsi had his in her tail, and he had said yes, that was how they had become mates. She loved that story. She hoped one day she could give her feathers to someone she loved. First though, she was going to give some to Doda, and Vidia and most definitely Etsi! Then she would never loose them! 'Suli smiled suddenly.
"OK, Doda! Ah'll race ya!" And with no further warning, Uwoduhi'Suli raced off toward the willow, leaping over real and imaginary targets. Tawali smiled. His crazy little foal was off and running, and Tawali just felt joy and love overwhelming him. He grinned and started to trot on behind 'Suli. He'd let her win, this time anyway.

She shook her head at the filly that was laid out on the ground now but was smiling all the while. "Close." She bent her head down to help hoist her back onto her feet, her nose nudging her rump up off the ground. She heard Tawali before Vidia did and looked to where he and her other daughter would be coming from. "Maybe you can ask your father to show you that trick again," she said smiling.
Her light blue eyes caught sight of Uwoduhi'Suli before she saw her mate. Vidia however, was faster and ran ahead of her mother, nearly colliding with her sister. "Suli," she shouted gleefully. The filly looked behind her darker sibling to her dad. "I'm learning your jump, papa," she said beaming.
Ever nuzzled both of her daughters, "Have fun learning to fly?" She moved over next to Tawali, running her muzzle against his neck. She felt like she was whole again with her entire family there. A very proud smile was apparent.
The tan filly greeted her father with a quick nuzzle before running on ahead of her sister and splashing her front hooves in the river bank. "I met Uncle Jazz, Aunt Glow, and cousin Rhaspody! We have a lot of Uncles, Suli."

Uwoduhi'Suli whickered loudly at the sight of her mother and her sister, and sped up to nearly crash into her sister. He nuzzled her muzzle into her friend's mane, breathing in her scent, and all the scents from where she had been, her wings flailing a little haphazardly in her excitement. After greeting her sister, 'Suli trotted up to her mother, pressing her nose to Ever's and then weaving herself between Ever's strong legs, settling under Ever's belly to watch the coversation for a moment, ears flicking back and forth. Tawali's eyes softened immensely at the sight of Ever, and he accepted her caress and nuzzled against her ear.
"M'jum' eh? Wha' ye wan'in' te learn that'n for then?" He chuckled, looking to 'Suli as she was addressed by her mother. The little foal stepped out from beneath her mother and lifted a shoulder noncommitably.
"S'alrigh' Etsi. Hard hard work, yes t'is!" She glanced up at her father with a small smile and pressed against him briefly. "Such hard hard work, bu' Doda is a good Dideyo!" Tawali beamed at her words, and nudged her flank, pushing her off toward her splashing sister.
"Go'n join Vid'a. She'll ge'h lonely wit'ou' ye!" 'Suli nodded and charged into the cool water after her sister, keeping her wings aloft so as not to waterlog the feathers, still cautious of their apparant fragility. "So ye took Vid'a te see Jazz eh? Did ye 'ave fun? Wha'd they think'o' 'er?"

She watched her children for a few moments, thinking about on their day they had with the rest of the family. "Jazz has a mate now, if you didn't hear from out daughter's excited gibberish," she said with a playful smile. "He saw all of you in her instantly. She really looks up to Rhapsody too."
"Rhaps is super cool," Vidia shouted across the distance. She looked across the water with a very large grin. She loved her cousin immediately. He didn't treat her like the other adults did.
Ever turned her gaze back to her mate with a low chuckle. No matter how carefree her daughter seemed here at home, whenever she wandered on her own or with either herself or Nacio, she was so quiet.
She spoke softly so the girls wouldn't hear her as Vidia splashed. "I'm worried about our daughters. They'll grow up soon and I can't make Omani'ceta flying after then in case they get into trouble. And I haven't seen hide or hair of Wild Wind." She took a deep steadying breath and buried her face into Tawali's mane.

Tawali chuckled at his noisy little daughter, so like him when he had been younger. In many ways, still like him. So relaxed when with his own family, more uptight and skittish when with others, though from what he had heard, Vidia tended more towards pure withdrawal then a slightly calmer self. He smiled lovingly at his girls, planting a soft 'kiss' to Ever's muzzle. In the water, 'Suli had forgotten her care of her feathers, and was using her wings to throw water over her sister, great waves of water that were aimed to completely soak. Her manic laughter was just audiable over the splashes.
"Ah'm no'h surprise'. She's more li'h me then Ah care te admi'. 'Suli though, she's def'nitly li'h ye! A li'l more reserve' then tha'h crazy chil', Vid'a!" He chuckled softly, watching his daughters thoughtfully for a moment, before turning to look fully at his life mate. "Aquadanvdo, newadi dikata!" He nuzzled his mate close, using one wing to pull her close in the semblance of a hug. "Our girls know we'll al'ays be 'ere for'm. They will wan'er, no doubt, bu'h we jus' go'a make sure they's al'ays know where we are, so's they can return. They'll run, they'll fly. We's go'a stay." He smiled kindly at his mate and pressed his muzzle to her's.

The tan and red filly giggled as the cool water splashed over her. She ran after her and tried to splash as much water as she could at her sister just by her movement. She knew their parents were watching them closely.
A sigh slipped from Ever's lips. Of course he was right. She couldn't help but worry like any mother would. Since he had always been able to find where Ever was, it would only be best to do the same for their children. "To be the beacon during a great storm. That's what parents are for, right?" She smiled and nuzzled against him, her blue eyes sparkling again in sheer happiness.
Vidia's hooves slipped off a rock. A small yelp was heard before the she went completely into the water. When she managed to pull her head back above the water, she saw that everyone was coming closer. She gave a sheepish grin to her mother's concerned look. "I think it's time to dry off, girls."

Tawali chuckled at his daughters' pouts and watched as 'Suli sloped out of the water, wings bedraggled and sopping as she pulled herself heavily out of the water. Having wings, it made going into water a lot more tiring, as once those feathers got water logged, that was it, they were logged for a long time till they dripped dry. He brushed up against Ever as she spoke to the girls, and he jumped over to the side 'Suli had clambered out on, wings spread so that he glided a little further. Nudging Uwoduhi'Suli with his muzzle, he smiled at her, motioning with his head to a sun drenched patch between the willow leaves.
"Go'n si' un'ner there, 'Suli. Ye'll dry quicker." He chuckled at her annoyed face at the heaviness of her extra limbs, and turned to smile at Vidia. "Now look! 'Suli s'all moody!"
"Am not!!" She cried out, trotting over to the tree, shaking her wings out to try and dislodge the water quicker.

She couldn't help but laugh at her mate and daughter teasing one another. The young filly might not see the great love in the gesture, but she certainly did. "Don't pick on her too terribly, love," she said as she moved to their favorite tree.
Vidia moved closer to the one that resembled her the most, looking up at him with large cyan eyes. She took a mouthful of his tail and tugged on it. "Dad, where did you get those blue and green feathers," she asked around the thick braid in her mouth. She glanced to her mother who was currently nuzzling the sopping wet Uwoduhi'Suli.

Uwoduhi'Suli pouted as she sat underneath the cascading leaves of their family tree, watching her Doda and Ulv play tug of war with his tail braids. Her wings were so heavy she could hardly lift them to her side, so she was thankful the primary feathers weren't long enough to drag on the ground. She remembered her Doda's story, when Etsi had scared him at the beach and he had fallen, clogging his feathers with sand for the next three weeks! 'Suli had laughed at the time, but she herself had experienced mud dust from training to fly, and it certainly clogged the delicate feathers! Tawali, on the other hand, was pouting at his other daughter, who's mouth was currently clamped around his tail braids.
"M'feathers?" He asked, looking at his wings. "Why, Ah was born wi'em! Fanciful eh? Ye'll be ge'hin' some o' these'ns! Jus' li'h ye Etsi! She'as me feathers there on 'er tail, ye see?" He looked to Ever, a loving smile on his features as he pulled Vidia along using his tail to tug her. "An' ye, 'Suli, so stop wi'h tha' pou'hin'!" He chuckled as she opened her mouth to protest it wasn't for that reason she was pouting, and that in fact, she didn't pout, but instead, she turned into her Etsi's nuzzle and hid under her belly, peering out from between her forelegs.
"An' what about those blue'ns! Them's what Vidia was talkin' about Doda!" Uwoduhi'Suli called out from below her mother, rubbing her cheek against the inside of Ever's leg. "What's them's for?"
"These?" Tawali called, shaking his rear end to make the white, blue and green feathers wiggle and clack, and to shake Vidia still on the end of his tail. "These'ns 're from long time'go. These'ns from me ol' 'erd! Ah've foun' some sim'lar te these'ns tha' ye can wear, shoul' ye wan', back'a the teepee. No'h as brigh' min'. Birdies do'hn 'ere no'h as brigh' as birdies up me ol' 'erd way. No'h as brigh' or cheeky! No'h like ye!" Tawali chuckled and turned so he could nudge Vidia in the side with his muzzle and attempt to startle her off of his tail. "Ye wan' some?" He said, looking at Uwoduhi'Suli, who had crawled out from her mother's underside to look closer.

Vidia giggled the entire time she was being dragged about. Her gaze was constantly locked onto the blue feathers that her dad was speaking of the entire time. She wanted to be just like him when she grew up, even have it down to the feathers! The childhood hero would always be her father.
The red mare gave a very warm smile back to her mate before looking down at her daughter between her legs. Her smile turned prideful at the younger duplicate and then raised her head. She could protect like this for the time being and that made her all the more joyful.
The opposite girl took several steps to the side when Tawali nudged her, nearly flopping over on the ground. Graceful as ever. She looked at him with wonder in her eyes. "Can I have some too, please?"
Their mother merely laughed at how like Tawali both her girls were. She nipped gently at Uwoduhi'Suli's short mane as the little filly moved from under her. "Now you've got your hooves full," she said teasingly. Yes, he would give them both his feathers and her home with Evening Night would be the beacon to safety.

Uwoduhi'Suli grinned cheesily up at her mother, stretching her neck up to plant a nuzzle against her mother's, before flicking out the sodden feathers and wandering a little closer to the two's father. Her tail whipped to each side, sending a spray of small droplets to each side. She sidled a little closer to the two more boistrous members of the family, but stuck closer to Ever. She was definately a mummy's girl. Perhaps it was the appearances of the two foals that caused them to stick closer to their respective parents, or maybe it was something else, but 'Suli for certain preferred her mother's calm.
"Why can't we have some like Etsi? Ah like Etsi's!" 'Suli looked up at the dark green feathers beside her mother's face, admiring their dark quality that seemed to make her mother's face even more vivid in its beautiful red hues. "Can Ah have some like Etsi an' some like ye?" Uwoduhi'Suli looked up at her father pleadingly, and he chuckled softly at her, smiling lovingly at his daughter. She certainly seemed to have a more nervous nature around her family members compared to Vidia, who was very very quiet around strangers. 'Suli seemed to have the same nervousness around everyone.
"O'course ye can Uwoduhi'Suli!" He then turned is blue green eyes to Vidia's, which were so brightly lit like his own. "An' ye, Vidia, ye te can 'ave anythin' ye wan'! Ye see, ye got's te 'ave one'a these'n's!" He fluttered his wings so that the red tipped appendages would flick around. "These'n's 'ere will al'ays le'h me'n ye Etsi know where t'is ye two are. Te me, they tug at me, see. 'A Wind Soquili al'ays knows where 'is feathers lay'. T'is why Ah fin' it so easy te fin' ye Etsi. She's a beacon te me wi'h them there feathers. Ah can al'ays fin' me way 'ome wi'h 'er wearin' them." Tawali looked at his mate with such love in his eyes it lit his whole gaze. Uwoduhi'Suli looked up at her mother, her mismatched eyes full of awe.
"Etsi, ye promise ne'er te take 'em off! Doda, when can Ah give mine te y'all?" 'Suli raced up to her father and heaved her still wet wings, trying to flick them about. She was nearly bouncing with excitment at giving her feathers to her family. She hoped, one day in the future, she would be able to give her's to someone she loved as much as her father obviously loved her mother. It was so beautiful to see to 'Suli. She grinned at Vidia and raced around her father, nipping on her sister's flanks playfully. She was so excited!

Ever chuckled as water droplets splashed against her coat. She caught a glimpse of the green and black feathers that were hanging down the side of her neck. "Feather's like mine?" She hadn't even thought about passing on a few of her accessories that Evening Night had picked out for her long ago. "I'm sure my two-legger would be happy to adorn these to my children."
The indian girl had been all a flutter over the little ones and the basket. The mare had often stood in the distance while her charge had told them stories or sang soothing songs. Now that Vidia was a bit older, she was often playing tag with the filly. Yes, Evening Night was just as proud as Ever when it came to her children.
Vidia looked over at her mother and just now noticed the difference between the accessories her parents had. Her father's seemed to match his personality, bright and cheerful; while mother's had a soothing quality that really did enhance the appearance. And then she caught that lovey-dovey exchange between her parents and made a face.
If there was one thing the filly would never understand at such a young age was love. Nacio and Peony had made the same lovey face and then there was always kissing. Ew, gross.
The red mare moved over beside her mate, the bracelets about her hooves jingling lightly. She tugged playfully on his mane. She laughed at her daughter's face. "You'll understand when you get older."
She moved quickly over to her father's side and peered around his front legs. "Can I have Suli's feathers too, Mom? And your bracelets? And Dad's feathers? And that one around his leg too?" She was popping questions out left and right, growing excited that she would be just as fetching as her mother and father.

Tawali smiled at his mate and cast a gaze over his two excited daughters. Who would have thought he would cope so well with daughters. He himself had considered himself more prepared for sons, but he was glad his first brood had been two daughters. He couldn't ask for two better foals. They were so unique in their opposites, and in the same way, such good replicas of he and Ever. He gazed up at his mate and smiled, planting a soft nuzzle to her nose.
"O'course ye can Vid'a. Ye can 'ave whatever ye like! As for ye feathers, 'Suli, ye'll have te wait'll ye firs' moult. Ye'll 'ave feathers comin' out ye ears then, and then its cons'ant main'nance. Then ye'll 'ave feathers a'plen'y!" He smiled at his winged daughter and pressed his muzzle to her's softly before turning and nipping Vidia playfully in her impatientness.
"Bu'h Ah wan'a give y'all me feathers now, Doda!!" Uwoduhi'Suli pouted and raced to hide under her mother. "Ah do, Etsi! Ah wan'a give ye me feathers now!" And to prove it, she ruffled them in an attempt to make some fall out. It didn't work, as they were all still so new, but she continued to try anyway. Tawali looked at his mate and rolled his eyes playfully, as if saying 'you try!'.
