woo, i finally got it. once the screen goes to 'jump in,' you have to move the little arrow thing (the one that can controls if you want to go back or forward) more to the right. it's like it freezes before it can play the last second that tells you to go talk to headshot.

yeah mine went through the first time... but i know steve had issues with his so i did it for him 3nodding
