Darkfeather was being very useful today... he was sleeping! Some guard he was... but well.. even he needed to sleep every now and then. But he made sure to stay near Setsumi and the eggs more often than not. The only time he left them was to fetch food or to tend to other essential needs. He'd never been a father before, and this was all going to be a new experience. But he figured it couldn't be anything he couldn't handle.
Little did he know that one of the eggs.. the grey one, was wiggling a bit.

The purple femme of the room was purring lightly as she groomed her feathers. It was a habit that held more importance now, in ways she couldn't explain but still enjoyed. With her mate resting nearby, the day was pretty calm. And she had lost a tiny bit of weight! Clouded ears flicked, and Setsumi turned her head to the eggs. Did she...feel it bump her? Sitting really still, she observed the shiny orbs.
There! It did move, the grey one. Her feathered tail tickled at Dark's nose. So, today was the day. 83

Darkfeather's nose wrinkled a bit as he felt the tail. However, it had a familiar scent and so he smirked before opening his eyes. Yawning and stretching his paws, he looked over at his mate. Ears turning forward, "Did you need something?" he asked, figuring that was the reason she woke him.
That is... until he saw movement in the corner of his eye. One of the eggs, wiggling a bit, then a bit more. A hairline fracture then appearing on its surface.

Setsumi only smiled back, tilting her chin to the small eggs. And as if the sounds of fragile egg cracking was an alarm, the purple egg began to twitch also. It fell softly to its side before going calm once more. No rush. Shifting her tails, the mother made a circular barrier around the wriggling ones. She couldn't wait to see what laid behind those shells. "Make bets? Boys or girls?" Or more likely, what was Dark hoping to see?

"Hm... one boy, one girl." Yes... play it safe. He would get atleast one right! But that's what he wanted really. To have a son and a daughter. However, he would just have to take what was dealt them. Red eyes were affixed on the two eggs curiously. What would they look like?
While the other egg wasn't in a rush, the grey one was! It wanted to get out already! Thus, it wiggled even more fiercely now that it had managed a crack. A few more appeared, and then part of the shell broke away from the top. Having been pushed by two hind legs, with tails popping out as well. Hm... had this kit been upside down in the egg? The legs kicked and the egg fell on its side.

That would be a nice match up, if odds turned out that way. Feeling giddy beyond words, Setsumi giggled lightly, nipping on the male's ears. She would have never thought, just...never. But it was too joyous to bother second guessing. Green eyes widened as little legs popped from the egg. And some floofy tails soon joining. She reached out and tickled at the small blue paws.
As if it had finished a small nap, the second egg bounced as well. Crackle...pop. One front paw peeked out from a hole in the shell, wriggling helplessly. A second later, it dissappeared and a tiny wet nose was sniffling through the airway.

The crested male smirked as his ears were nibbled on. Giving his mate a few licks on her face. Darkfeather blinked at the antics of the one kit with the flailing limbs. Hm. o_O; However, when the other showed its nose, he dipped his head down and sniffed at the nose with his much bigger one. Sniff sniff.
The grey kit ended up backing out of its egg, causing the shell to simply fall apart. Landing on her butt, she squawked with complaint. Her eyes closed to the world, and her fur and wait... feathers?... all wet. Well really... were the feathers not expected?

Winking to the licks, Setsumi watched as the kits emerged. She was in deep shock to the amount of feathers on the grey kit. Seriously, Setsumi had never seen so many feathers on one without wings! Ears darted forward to the squawk, a grinning glance tossed to Dark. Part bird, eh? Leaning forward, she scooped the little one near to groom....her up.
Sniff sniff? Nose wriggling, the kit pressed forward on the shell. Almost to hard, as it cracked apart, an she tumbled out in a roll. Meep! Crashing to her tummy, her bright tails covering over her like a blanket.

When the first kit emerged, Darkfeather blinked several times. Well how about that... feathers, and the same color as his. Lots of them too. And she had some of Setsumi's markings also. It was quite a nice combination really. Then as the second kit burst out and rolled from her shell, he took a paw and lifted the brightly colored tails off of her. There was no question that this kit took after her mother... but there as also bangs colored after his crest. Picking up that kit, he followed Setsumi's lead and started to groom... it... her! A girl. See! He had been right on one of them!
The grey girl wiggled a little when mommy started to groom her, making little muttering growls in protest, but eventually submitting and flopping in Setsumi's paws.

Setsumi showed her grin as she continued grooming the girl, ignoring her complaints. From head to tail tips, the kit was no longer wet and grungy. Nuzzling the grey girl, mommy peeked over to the other two. Dark seemed to be taking well to being a father. It was quiet an experience, to see little lives and know they are your own. She chuckled as she noticed that he held a daughter similiar to herself. The one in her arms took after Dark as well.
Shudder. Hey, who took away the warm blankie? Squeaking quietly as she was moved, without her own effort, the girl remained nervously still. What was going on? What was all these smells??

Darkfeather continued to groom the little girl in his paws. She was so... tiny. He couldn't believe how small she was. He groomed her very carefully, afraid he might break her if he moved the wrong way. Once he was done though, he looked up and gave his mate a little smile. It truely was incredible.. to think they had made these kits.
Ear twitch. Wait a minute... it stopped. Who said it could stop?! The grey girl made little unhappy noises again and shivered a little. She was cold too! And hungry! Squirm.

Setsumi blinked down to the grey daughter, brushing her pelt with her slim paw. Judging by the constant squirming, Setsumi knew it was meal time. Picking her up by the scrap of her neck, she moved the young girl toward her tummy. Once there, Setsumi curled her tails near to keep the kit warm while she leaned onto her side.
Mrrr. This was nice, whatever it may be. At least it was keeping her calm, and the kit felt no threats at all. Giving a little yawn, she snuggled into the fur paws holding her. That is before her tiny nose wriggled along with a grumble from her tummy.

Darkfeather nosed the little girl gently, already feeling himself grow attached. She was a beautiful little girl, just like her mother. Seeing the other kit getting a meal and hearing the rumbling from the oen in his paws... he got the hint. Gently picking her up, he set the purple girl next to her sister. Next, he moved around behind Setsumi and settled there, putting a paw around her but making sure not to disturb the little ones. A nuzzle being given to her neck, "They're lovely."
The gray girl sniffed around when she was put at mommy's belly, but eventually instinct kicked in and she started to nurse. Her little tummy soon filling up with warm milk. She seemed content, with food going into her and tails keeping her warm and safe.

Setsumi watched as the two sisters were placed next to each other, ready to eat. She couldn't wait to show her family and friends the cute additions. But for now, she treasured this time with them alone. Feeling the paw around her, she rested her cheek to the ground. "I couldn't agree more." Let's just hope their personalities were as well. But between these two parents and their care, she had no worries.
Where was she now? ;_; Scrunching her face, the kit soon realized there was another small being right next to her. It was warm too! Crawling closer to the other, she soon was led to actual feeding, now realizing why her tummy hurt.

Females were strange Darkfeather decided... strange because they could make life inside their bodies.. and then make food for them. They were strange... but amazing at the same time. He certainly couldn't do it. He watched the two kits feed, before resting his head directly behind hers. "So... thought of any names yet?"
The gray girl also noticed something next to her, but she didn't seem to mind. She was more focused on getting food. When she was done though, she burped softly before curling up next to Setsumi's belly and falling asleep. Mmm.. warm.
