After 5 years of experimentation a young ex-Soldier named Zack Fair escapes with the mako-poisoned Cloud from Hojo's lab. With no where else to turn Zack and Cloud flee to an old church in Midgar in search of a friend. Close by, in the Sector 7 slums, Cloud's childhood sweetheart, Tifa, is becoming active in a rebel group called Avalanche, that is intent on saving the planet from the ShinRa corporation. Together can the two groups work together and save the planet from certain doom or will they be overwhelmed by ShinRa's power.

Rules

User Image1. Please be literate. I’m not going to be a grammar-nazi but I would like to be able to understand your post.

2. Gaia's ToS demands that we keep it PG-13 so keep it clean, guys.

3. Commitment- I'm not asking you to be on all the time or to post everyday. Since we are a small guild it might take time for things to pick up pace, but if you claim an important character make sure you are around for when we need you.

4. No god-modding, power playing or auto hitting. It’s no fun role-playing with someone who makes his or her character perfect.

5. To show you read the rules at the end of your character application please put “This guy are sick.”

6. Always stay in third person, past tense. For example: *dodges*/dodges/dodge ---becomes---; He narrowly dodged the arced swing of the buster sword.

7. Respect all of the other role-players.

On Double Dipping: The option is open to claim a second character. Please note, I will be much harsher on accepting an application for a second character. If I do not think your posts have been up to par or that you can handle a specific character I can and will reject you.

Needed Characters

More may be added later but these are characters are best to start with.

Major Characters
These are characters who are very important to the story and are best played by people who have experience in RPs and have enough time to be active in the RP.

User Image

Biggs
Biggs is a member of Avalanche.

---
Minor Characters
These characters are the ones who aren't actively involved in the story line, (mostly because they are usually alone doing their own thing). These characters are best for those who do not have much time to RP but would still like to participate.

User Image

Marlene Wallace
Marlene is four years old and considers Barret to be her father, while she is actually the daughter of Dyne and Eleanor, childhood friends of Barret's. Barret had taken Marlene in as his own daughter after his friend Dyne, his hometown Corel, and loved ones were destroyed by Shin-Ra troops. As Marlene was less than a year old when her town was burned to the ground and her mother was killed, she has no memory of her biological parents. She is also very shy around strangers.

User Image

President Shinra
President Shinra is–as the name implies–the President of the Shin-Ra Corporation. He believes he can rule over people with the use of money.

User Image

Heidegger
Heidegger is a high ranking member of the Shinra organization, and the head of Public Safety, as well as controlling the Shinra Military (SOLDIER) and the Turks. He is held in high regard by President Shinra. Like Scarlet he can be characterized by his trademark was his "horse laugh," "Gya haa haa haa!"

((I figure I shall just start the RP and hope more people decide to join in together. :]))

User ImageDay by day the slums grew less and less bearable. The air grew rank and the water stagnant. The people had little hope of making it to the top plate and feeling the warmth of sunlight upon their skin or enjoying a cool summer breeze. The planet was rotting slowly but surely. Everyday Shinra harvested more of the planet's life and those who were stuck in the slums where to be the first to suffer from it.

Marlene doesn't deserve this. Everyday Barret noticed she was taking more and more after Eleanor and Dyne, and would smile. In his eyes she was his perfect daughter who deserved to play outside under the sun rather than the sad excuse of a playground he took her too. She was bright, intelligent girl and she deserved the best education that anyone could offer. Unfortunately the best education in the slums wasn't that great. She deserved a chance to grow old and live her life to the fullest; but at the rate things were happening there wouldn't be a planet for her to grow old on.

“I’m not sure if we’ll be able to pull off our next mission.” Barret confided to Tifa in a low undertone. “We jus' don’t have enough help.” He stared down at his drink. Biggs, Wedge and Jessie were good, but they couldn’t handle blowing up the Mako Reactor all by themselves. He drained his glass and slammed it down on the bar. He had spent too much time planning this mission to just not do it. He knew it was a bit ambitious but Avalanche needed something big to get Shinra to take them seriously.

User ImageNo matter how many minutes—hours she logged away cleaning the sparse room of the makeshift bar, Tifa always managed to find another speck of area to devote her attention to. It was a nice outlet for her, being able to take a breather from everything—the worries, the cares—and clean up pass messes, her eyes focused on the task at hand but unaware of the world around her. Was a shame though, that all of life’s messes couldn’t be cleaned up with a mop and bucket or even a worn rag.

Gripping the rag between her fingers that much tighter, she let one, almost inaudible sigh escape her lips before she went back to work, glancing down at the wood of the bar top, as if inspecting it and after a few beats, she ran the sorry looking rag over a particular spot, only stopping once the smudge disappeared. Just as she began straightening her back, getting ready to find something else to accomplish, she caught Barret’s low voice and her wine-colored eyes shifted to her left to settle on him. She regarded him silently, sensing he had more to say and within moments, he explained in a handful of words, just why he didn’t think they could pull it off. Opening her mouth for her response, she immediately snapped it shut when the bottom of his glass slammed onto the bar and she ruffled her eyebrows, a hint of concern pulling at her face features.

“Barret, don’t talk like that.” Her tone was light, a playfulness evident behind it, in hopes of cheering his souring mood but it wasn’t obvious enough that it’d overshadow the conversation, and disregard the seriousness of his comments as if they were nothing. “It’s a big job but you’ll find a way to get it done.” Her encouragements were short, but enough to get her point across and although they were hollow reassurances, based off of nothing more than hope, she knew that one of them needed to stay optimistic.

Shinra stood high above the skies like the Babylonian tower built by the arrogant people who believed that they could be gods. Elena walked through the entrance, greeted by the usual polished tiles and warm lights that decorated the ceiling in a business-like way. The secretary looked up with a sincere smile when Elena signed in.

"Miss Elena, how was your mission?" the woman asked. Elena scribbled down her name and let out a heavy sigh.

"Tseng is going to kill me...I couldn't find a single trace of Avalanche! They're better than I thought!" Elena pouted and crossed her arms.

"Don't let it bother you Miss Elena. It is after all your first mission. I'm sure Mr. Tseng will be lenient," the secretary cooed. The young blond scoffed.

"Anyways, I'd better get going," Elena smiled and headed towards the elevator.

The doors slid open with a DING, ready to receive the next passenger. Elena stepped in and crossed her arms behind her in a very formal posture. Once again she sighed, contemplating whether or not it was such a good idea to report her obvious failure. But...it's not like Tseng would....hate me right? I really want him to accept me....Wait, why am I so caught up in self-pity?! Damn you Avalanche! Making me feel like a loser! I managed to catch one of the members temporarily...but she slipped from my grip by jutting me in the stomach! Wait, why was I forced to go alone anyway?! Are we lacking personnel?! What is stupid Reno doing?! The doors slid open again, revealing the very clean and orderly office of Tseng.

"Hmm? He's....not here yet?" Elena voiced out. She scanned the room, noticing the couch on the right of the desk. I'll just wait for him here... Elena sauntered over to the couch and sat down, letting out but another sigh, but this time of relief. I really don't want to disappoint him... After several minutes, Elena's eyes began to droop. Tseng..... After her final thought, she collapsed into the couch, asleep.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Tseng was a very busy man, especialy at this time. There was still no trace of that annoying rebel group, and Mr. Shinras pateince was at it's very end. Almost as if to punish the Turk leader, he had made Tsengs work load even bigger than it already was.

"And I still havent been able to capture that girl..." he hissed to himself as the elevator doors shut behind him leaving him alone to think for the time being.
"Aerith," he corrected himself once he was sure nobody could hear, "her name is Aerith."
It wouldnt do for anybody at Shinra to hear him going soft for some flower girl. He was suposed to be ice. Cold and uncaring. It was his job to do Shinra's dirty work and like it.

The elevator doors opened and he stepped out into a neerly empty hallway. His office stood at the end of this hall, the biggest one on that floor.
He stepped close to the dorr and it slid open revealing his unaturaly clean office. the first thing he noticed was his desk. piled high with papers that he had just been given to sort through. His desk was without a doubt the messiest thing in the room.

The next thing he noticed was,
"Elana..." he said, narrowing his eyes in annoyance. It wasnt like it was the first time somebody fell asleep in his office, but most of the time people would ask first, especialy if they were so new to the Turks.

"Elana, wake up. I hope you have good news for me," he said coldly, "Or at least, it must be good news if your so relaxed that you can just fall asleep in my office like that."

He walked to his desk and sat down to look through the papers littering his desk. He cast a glance at the window to be sure that it was still day time. Sometimes he really could'nt tell.

User Image The sun was streaming through the churches broken windows. The shards of glass glittered like dimonds when the light hit them, and the flowers that grew in the center if it all drank up the sun eagerly.
A pretty girl with a pink hair ribbon stood in the center of the flowers, looking up at the small hole in the roof. Some things just would never change.
'I think it's about time to go," she said at long last to nobody in particular, "Mom's going to worry if I dont show up for lunch."
She dusted the remainder of the dirt off her pink dress and turned, making her way to the church doors. She grabed a long metal rod as she went. It was dangerous in the slums, especialy for a girl like her.

Finding a way home without running into anybody was easy. She had been hunted by Shinra since she was young, so she knew every way to get home imaginable.
The house she lived in was big enough, bigger than most houses in the slums. She was very fortunate.
There was a lovely garden right next to it that Aerith and her mother grew with some difficulty. plants were very stubborn in Midgar. It was like they didnt want to grow.

Aerith walked up the short path to the front door, laying the metal rod down along the path as she went.
"Mom" she called opening the door, "im home!"
A women in a green dress stepped out of the kitchen. She surveyed Aerith with unsure brown eyes, looking for any scratch that might sugest a struggle.
"Did they come after you?" she asked wiping her hands on her crisp white apron.
"No Mom," Aerith said with a sigh, "I havent seen Tseng in a few days."
"Good," Elmira said harshly, retrating back into the kitchen, "the less of you see of him the better."
"Im kinda worried," Aerith said following her.
"Im not," Elmira said, setting a pot of soup at the table.
"Do you think he's alright?"
"I dont know Aerith," Elmira answered taking a seat at the table, "and honestly I dont care. I dont understand why your so concerned. It's not like he's your boyfriend... is he?"
Elmira glared across the table as Aerith took a seat across from her.
"No..." Aerith said, "I havent had a boyfriend since..."
"You always seem to attract the wrong types," Elmira said simpatheticly, passing a bowl of soup to Aerith, "That boy was no good. I dont want you to ever end up with anybody that has anything to do with Shinra, understand? They'll only hurt you in the end."
Aerith didnt answer. There was nothing to say, but to play with her food. She wasnt really in the mood to eat anymore. She always lost her appitite when ever they spoke of him.
The more Elmira spoke, the more worried Aerith became. Tseng was always there to pay her a visit, even if some were less than enjoyable.
She waited while her mother continued to curse Shinra between bites. If there was one way to upset her mother, it was to talk about anybody that could be harmful to her baby.
"Still," Aerith said too quietly for her mother to hear, "im worried about him."

User ImageBarret’s grip on the glass relaxed as Tifa spoke. Her voice was soft and kind while her words were full of the reassurance he needed to hear. He remained silent long after Tifa had finished talking. His gaze remained low, focused on his reflection that shone back at him on the bar’s surface. He could see how worn his face was and could make out his tired expression. He had made a promise to himself, a promise that he would never give up his battle with Shinra and he would avenge those he had lost. Luckily, for the sake of Avalanche, he had Tifa, who often served as his voice of reason. Without her he would have jeopardized the group long ago by doing something rash.

“You’re right,” He said after a short silence. “I’m jus’ worried that something might happen to Marlene if we fail.” Barret glanced over his shoulder and smiled at Marlene who was hovering behind him. Her large brown eyes were staring up at him sweetly and her face was composed into a playful grin. He reached out and ruffled her hair with his one hand. If he failed he wanted to be the one to pay for it, not Marlene. He could not risk Shinra finding out about her.

He turned back to Tifa with a solemn expression. It was normal for him to be wary before a mission, but this time his worries weighed heavily on his heart. He had known from the beginning that this mission was possibly too ambitious for the time. The others were skeptical at first but his confidence at the time slowly ‘suaded them into it. Biggs, Jessie and Wedge were all prepared to died fighting Shinra with him, but he wasn’t prepared to let Marlene die as well.

User ImageTifa tossed the rag somewhere underneath the bar as the silence fell over the two adults and she remained patient, as always, giving him a chance to gather his thoughts. It was hard to stay undyingly positive in these situations, especially with so many obvious risks, but he had no excuse. He was the leader. If he doubted the success of the mission, even doubted the ones following him, then it’d only be a matter of time before there was a domino affect and everyone else lost what little confidence they had.

She glanced up when her ears caught Barret’s voice once more, shaking her out of her thoughts and she followed Barret’s gaze, sparing Marlene a quick look. The brunette couldn’t help but let a smile grace her lips as Barret affectionately ruffled his daughter’s hair and for a moment she wished there was another way, that they could do something else or even stick to lesser missions of smaller extent. The road they were on now though, it wasn’t getting them anywhere. As Barret had said many times before, they needed something big.

“But…” She rose her objection, only to trail off after the first word and she shifted her attention back to him, catching his gaze. After a beat of silence, she took a few steps to her left to lessen the distance between them and she moved to lay her hand on his forearm, giving him a small reassuring squeeze. “…think of what will happen to Marlene—everyone if you don’t try.” There were risks and consequences on either side; it just depended on how you wanted to look at it. “Someone needs to do something.”

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Immediately Elena bolted out of the couch and frantically bowed down in apology more times than she could count.

"I'msosorryI'msosorryI'msosorryI'msosorry!" Elena apologized incoherently. After a few seconds of breathing in and out, Elena composed herself and saluted to her leader.

"Tseng, sir! I've come to give you a report!" she proclaimed. Sweat formed in little beads on her fair complexion. She was sure that Tseng knew that she failed even before she spoke.

"Sir..." she began, bowing her head in defeat.

"I've failed the mission in tracking down Avalanche! I will receive my punishment now!" Elena exclaimed and closed her eyes tightly, ready to receive Tseng's wrath.

User ImageBarret remained the silent; there was too much truth in Tifa’s words to argue with. If he did nothing Marlene would live her entire life in the slums as the planet slowly lost all life and beauty. He knew when he created Avalanche it wasn’t going to be easy, but Marlene’s future was the only thing that mattered to him. If he had to put his life on the line to make sure Marlene could grow up and have a chance of happiness it was a price he was willing to play.

Barret studied Tifa’s face. Her expression was concerned but at the same time determined. She was strong. He knew if he should die or get caught on a mission that she would take good care of Marlene. “Yer a good kid, Tifa.” He said finally, his face breaking into smile. His hand slid his empty glass across the bar, to the barmaid. “Now do me a favor an’ fill ‘er up.” His voice was now strong and full of confidence. “I can’t prepare for a mission without one of yer drinks.”

Relaxing in his stool Barret turned and watched Marlene as she played around the bar. Tifa was right. The performance of the rest of Avalanche depended on his belief in them. He couldn’t ask the others to go out there with him if he thought there was no chance of success; it wouldn’t be worth dying for. No, he would lead Avalanche and blow up the Mako Reactor and make Shinra regret draining the life from the planet and attacking Corel.
