So I went to log in today right, well the new patch started downloading, I thought nothing of it, until it told me it couldn't find wow.exe. I went to my Program Files folder to prove it wrong, and sure enough, my World of Warcraft folder was gone, vanished into oblivion. Now I'm having to reinstall entirely, lost all the map nodes I had thanks to Gatherer, and I don't know what happened.

I would think if my computer somehow decided it was malware of some sort it woulda said something, or asked about it before just removing it, yet its gone, none of the shortcuts go anywhere..

Any idea what happened here?

YOU DIDNT DELETE YOUR CACHE.
I'M PRACTICING TO BE BLIZZARD TECH ******** I hate those guys. The game will be crashing every 5 seconds and they'll be all like 'delete your cache.' You will delete your cache, it will make no difference. You'll tell them it didn't work and they'll just be like 'rofl idfk then'

Honestly, I have no idea. Its a computer, it likes to mess itself up. Its just what happens. Its like when you lose a sock in the wash.

Max's good idea for the day:

Once you've redownloaded all the patches, pack them all into a WinRaR/WinZip folder, and burn that onto a DVD, or onto a usb flash drive.

That way you never have to redownload. Also, go buy a trial edition of WoW from Best Buy or something. It's like 2 bucks or something, and it's the DVD version of the game, which means no disc switching while installing, which means you can just turn it on and walk away, rather then have to sit there and switch discs.

Well, the following day it kept trying to get the latest patch, only to tell me I already had it, and wouldn't let me play until it got this patch it said I had but kept trying to download.

So what did I do, I called Tech Support, so the guy walked me through some things to try and figure this little problem out, and it turns out my WoW folder had never been deleted in the first place, merely misplaced. Somehow during the course of me not playing for a week my computer decided to displace WoW to the Yahoo! folder. So when I'd try to play it would attempt to load from the folder within Yahoo! only to tell me I needed the patch, but would find the patch files in the other WoW folder from my reinstall. So I had to just delete the folder that was in the Yahoo! folder, and all is well in the World of Warcraft again.
