She had cooled down quite a bit since that fight with Marahute. Now, she wasnt going to fight her again, but her name still brought bitterness inside the blue hued mare, and probably always would.

Her ebony black tresses, of which she had inherited from her father, curled about her neck, in a similar fashion that her mothers had.

Sapphire Amethyst orbs sparkled this night. It was lovely outside, and her heart was aching with the need for some kind of beauty. It had been awhile since she had seen her Amaroq, and it had been recent that she had seen her father.

Her father had gone on and on about this lovely mare whom he had confessed his love for only to his youngest daughter.. herself.
Naina had just shaken it off, every now and then, father got like that.

Whether there was an actual mare at the other end of the conversation or not, she had no idea.. But it didnt really matter.

This one had a brown body with a lovely sandy underbelly. Short cropped blue tinged mane, and a long braided blue tinged tail. Her eyes were of stars and her mind like an eagle..

Okay.. so that all came from her father, none of it from herself.

Apparently the mare this time was even named!

Shai..
If there was more to it, he had never said. She just didnt really care either.

Keeping her mind busy, she continued to walk in her forested home.

It must have been an odd sight to the daughter of Jean-Claude, then, when before her very eyes stepped the lovely mare that had previously been mentioned to her. With a short-cropped blue mane and a lovely tail of braids and beads to match, a beautiful fading brown body, and a pale little under belly it was hard to imagine that it could possibly be anyone else. Those colors in that combination were not very common. Of course, there was no way to tell about the mind like an eagle, and the eyes of stars were of a purely opinion oriented point of view.

Regardless, it was obvious from first glances that this was a no-nonsense sort of mare. Her head was held high, her posture elegant but commanding, and her every motion was with a grace that would have spoke of royalty had such a thing existed among Soquili. Brilliant blue eyes turned slowly to find the pale-toned mare, and a sculpted blue brow arched in her direction. Why were there suddenly so many new Soquili in the forest that had been deserted before, at least near this section?

“Hello there,” she said calmly, her voice eloquent and precise, flowing with a beauty unmatched by many, simply because it had been practiced and perfected over the years. She wasn’t unkind in the slightest, and there was respect there, but it was obvious that she was curious over this mare she had never seen before.

In the back of her mind there was, however, the tiniest little spark of something familiar but she couldn’t place it.

She looked to the voice, and then here eyes widened. Oh no. This could NOT be the mare.
How random was this? Just running into the mare that matched the EXACT description of the mare that her father had taken such an interest in.

"Hello there miss."

Her voice was soft, but ethereal. She was polite, but also curious. She had lived there all her life, really. And had never seen this mare.

"Excuse me, but.."

She shook her head.

"This will sound weird, I know.. But.. Ah hell. Are you... Shai?"

She looked awkward, and smiled to help eleviate the awkwardness.

Shaitani quirked a brow at the mare as she began to stutter over her words, the way she seemed to be arguing with herself despite what she asked. It annoyed her when Soquili couldn’t just come out and say what they wanted to – what was the reason for prolonging it? In the end, it didn’t matter if you took five days or five minutes to get what you wanted out. The outcome would always be the same.

However, as she heard her name, or at least part of it, come out of the pretty little mare’s mouth, her eyes narrowed slightly. She was sure that she had never met the pale form before her, and for her to speak that name to her was slightly confusing. However, she simply let her head rise slightly, studying the mare intently for a moment.

“Yes, I am Shaitani,” she said finally, flickering her tail as she let the narrowed eyes relax to normal. “And who might you be, that speaks my name?” she asked, not impolite, but not with any particular kindness. Shaitani didn’t like being on the less knowledgeable end of a conversation.

She knew she had been rude without introducing herself further before she spoke the mares name. She shook her head.

"I apologize for my rudeness, My name is Naina and I believe you know my father.''

She replied, swishing her curly ebony mass of tail. So she had gotten the name wrong.. Damn, she thought she at least had a name for the face before her.

Naina didnt know exactly what father looked for in a mare. She really didnt care too much. This one was a pretty little thing, but she seemed to have a good head on her shoulders.
So daddy liked em smart, eh?

"Do forgive me, Its been a weird couple a days..''

She was referring to her father and his actions, but she wasnt going to say that.

Shaitani studied her silently for a few more moments at her next words, the feeling that she knew her increasing more with every passing minute, until the words actually struck home with her. Father. She smirked lightly and shook her head as she realized just how this mare must know her name. She hadn’t thought that Jean-Claude would grasp the navigation of the forest so quickly, but he had apparently, or had at least gotten lucky enough to stumble on the daughter he had insisted was here.

“Naina,” she said quietly, quirking her brow in the mares direction, specifically at the dark curls of mane spilling over her pale shoulders. “Well, considering he’s the only male I’ve talked to recently besides my own two sons, I would suppose that you mean Jean-Claude.” Despite her slightly stoic attitude, a soft smile seemed to linger on her maw as she said his name. Oh, but she did have a big soft spot for the charming brute.

“Oh, I imagine it can’t be any weirder than the last few I’ve had,” she said with a small smile, the stoic coldness slowly fading. She could be nice when she wanted to. Still, she meant what she said. First, Jean-Claude moves into her home and then her son decides, on a whim, to wander off with some mare that filled his head with silly ideas. Oh well, he did need to do something for himself for once, and she supposed that was as good a way as any.

Naina smiled, and nodded, letting her curls of which she had inherited from her father, bob around her neck.

This mare was intelligent. Nothing at all like the little mares he had flirted up ages ago. She had seen the mares he had charmed.. and they had been floozies at best. She had hated every single one of them.. Who cares if he charmed them before she'd been born. He'd still pointed them out..

And she hated them. But she liked this mare, with her coolness and posture.
She was someone to respect, and Naina liked how she didnt need to say, Respect me. She just assumed the authority.

''Aye, that would be my father. Jean-Claude.. The best of the stallions around.. sometimes.''
She added smiling.

"Though, I can see how you won his heart so quickly. You are a mare much like my father.. I dont know how, but I see his look in your eyes.''

Naina didnt realize that Jean had never told the mare he liked her before. She hadnt realized she had just spilled this huge secret that he had kept hidden.

"Thanks for taking him in.. I mean.. I cant bear to live with him, being as I move place to place and he's looking to settle in one. Kinda Ironic. I got my nature from my father, and now he's all.. whipped."

Oh yeah, Naina could talk alot if she wanted.. But it had been so long since she had seen anyone else. She lived so far deep in the woods, that no one really travelled there. She had wandered into her father as she was heading to the small river for a drink.

Apparently he had the same notion.

“Jean-Claude is certainly a unique soul,” she said with a little smile, shifting her paws simply from standing there so long, her deep blue eyes watching the mare before her. “I wouldn’t say he’s the best of stallions,” a smile spread over her mug as she spoke, “but I know there are certain things he excels at, even from the short time I’ve been lucky enough to spend around him.” She certainly wouldn’t call him the best of stallions, at least not on a well rounded basis, just like she wouldn’t be the best of mares. She knew a few above him, but his personality was certainly more suited to her likes and that was all that mattered.

Her next words, however, made Shaitani’s little mouth curl up in a smirk. “Oh yes, narcissism at its best, don’t you think?” she said with a small laugh, though she meant that entirely. Those that acted like Shaitani and Jean-Claude often sought after others of the same mind set. However, she would not touch upon the fact that she had obviously won his heart. True, she might use it against him, tease him with the little fact, but she would not show his daughter her blunder. She’d let her think she had done no wrong – there was no reason to make her feel bad at this particular moment.

“There’s no thanks needed. With my boys grown, I get lonely in my little patch of forest,” she said with a shrug, quirking an eyebrow at her. “Do you really think I could have told your father no if it’s what he really wanted to begin with?” She chuckled at the thought, shaking her head slightly and sending the short blue mane fluffing wildly with the action.

“Do not fear, in time, we all want to settle down. It’s natural, I believe, based on our need to feel as if we belong somewhere. I used to wander as endlessly as both you and your father,” she smiled, glancing around at the forest, “and now I seclude myself away from the world. Although, that is a different matter entirely.” True, her reasons for hiding away from everything were based on events from her past, and had little to do with growing older. After all, she was still fairly young by Soquili, even if she did have two grown sons.

Naina smiled. She knew her father was not the best of stallions. In fact, her father had loads of faults. But then again, who could honestly say they didnt have faults?
Her father was her main reason for sanity. He had raised her hard, but as he came to realize his mistakes, he had become the Soquili that she always ran to now.

"My father needs someone like him, and though I dont think I'd use teh word Narcissism for you, I would use it for him. But I dont know you too well, and I am not one to pass judgements."
She knew her father was a royal pain in the a**. But she loved him, and his pompous ways. But if this mare was like him, Naina truly worried about any foals that might come her way.
Being a sister, was something she wasnt very good at. Her two siblings cared nothing for her. So.. Apparently she failed in that department.

Not to say there would be foals, but for all Naina knew, what Jean went after, Jean achieved.
But he was seeming to be careful about this mare. He was afraid he'd lose her if he were too bold.

''Ah, finding ourselves. Nothing ever seemed quite so tedious. I must say that traveling keeps me on my hooves.. But I always come back here. Back to the same wooded area that I call home.
He's good at wandering and not coming back. Or at least he was.''

She didnt say that that was the reason Nostalgia had left him after giving birth to baskets. Nos had said Jean wasnt around enough.. But she had fallen for the stallion he was, and he never claimed to be a standstill stallion. He always had been nomadic.

''So.. Are you two.. seeing each other?"
She hoped they were, he needed someone. But this question might have been too bold to ask. Damn it. She should have asked father.

Shaitani smiled softly as the mare told her that she was not narcissistic. She knew this very well herself, and the comment had been about Jean-Claude, but she wouldn’t knock the girl for defending her. Most people told her she was stuck up, or mean, and would probably have figured most Soquili would have said the opposite. She knew that looking for someone of a like mind and opinion was not narcissism, but one would be surprised at those that thought it was.

“Well, I’m sure your father has found what he needs in me, otherwise he would have left by this point,” she said kindly, smiling down at the mare. Although Shaitani was not looking to have more children at this point, she couldn’t say she wouldn’t. She had had three, one she never knew, and two sons that she liked to think turned out very well. Khilan had, at least. Could she really mother a brood much different, even with Jean-Claude there?

“I found myself when I gave birth to my children,” she said with a small smile, more affectionate for the thought of her boys, “I came here and settled down when they were born and I have stayed here since. I never thought that becoming a mother would do that, but it does.”

“Seeing each other?” she said with a small smirk, one of those thin blue eyebrows quirking slowly. “Sort of, perhaps. Not your typical idea of it, but in a way, I suppose we are.” Well, that was certainly nothing concrete.

She smiled nodding. Yes father must have found what he needed in this mare, because he was truly a guarded soul now. Her mother had done that to him, and she never forgave her mother for that.
Yeah, She loved Nostalgia. The mare she had met twice.. Because Nos had said her peace, and Naina accepted it.

"Im glad he found you then. You could be very good for my poor father.''

She said, grinning.
She knew Jean wanted more foals. Basically because he had lost two of his prior foals. Those two had grown not really wanting to know him. He felt he needed to fix that.. That.. and he wanted to prove that maybe this time, he could be a better mate.. And a better father.

''I hope to become a mother one day. I've learned a great deal of things over the course of my life, and it seems I want to pass it along. But if it makes me lose my nomadic ways.. then maybe I shall wait until im older, and not so finicky."

She flicked her ebony curled tail against her rump, to remove the fly that had landed. Damn flies.. Always landing on her.

But wait.. Now that she thought of it, again.. Did she really want brother and sisters? Hadnt she already established that she failed there?
Maybe it would give her time to fix her errors.. Maybe foals would be good for her training in motherhood.

"So.. You are, but you arent."
Naina, feeling the need to maybe play matchmaker here for her father, smiled a bit, and narrowed her eyes mischeviously. This couldnt be held against her. After all, she was her fathers daughter, and she was still very young.. Body and mind.
She couldnt help herself. And like most filly's, she was bound to put her hoof in her mouth somewhere. She was just hoping it wasnt at Fathers expense.

"Would you.. see my father? Like.. I already said he likes you, a lot.. And he's living with you.. Do you see anything romantic between you two at all?"
She wasnt going to tell father the results. These were for her own personal gain. She wanted to know if father was going to be happy again.. or if he was going to just keep going through life.

She had never seen Jean so happy, until he met this mare. And she was hoping his love wasnt in vain.

“Becoming a mother is one of the greatest things you’ll ever do, and I honestly think it’s probably worth giving up your travels for,” she shrugged, glancing around at the beauty of the forest vegetation. “Besides, once they’re grown, you can always leave to travel again.” Although she had never done that, she knew many that did. She just stayed here because she didn’t want to risk the chance of ever coming into contact with the humans again. In the depths of the forest, there were very few of them if there were any.

Shaitani knew that she too had the urge to try again with her children. Although the boys had turned out as well as one could hope, she still knew that the third child out there would always plague her. She would one day want to have more children, she was sure, to fill the void that was left behind from that unknown foal. Right now, however, she wasn’t really thinking too much about it. After all, she had only just developed more romantic feelings for the stallion, but only time would tell.

“Romantic?” she said with a devilish little smile, reading the intentions in Naina like a human would an open book. Shaitani was smart, and a daughter would only ask such questions if they meant to be nosey and help their father out. It was cute, in a way, to see that father daughter bond. Did Eloran have that with that third child? Was she a girl? “I suppose you could say that, although it’s just a small little budding at the moment,” she said with a shrug. Ah, well, she might as well not ruin the girl’s fun, right? “I’m sure it will bloom with a little more aid from your darling father.”

The proud mare's head was in the air, and her eyes were proud. There daddy. I have helped you.

She gave a little grin, satisfied with the answer that was the romance question.
If there was even the slightest bud, then her being around father so much would definately fulfill that.
Because her father was a charmer, and it was a potent charm and not even he knew how strong.

She smiled and nodded.

Okay, this could work in her favor.

"Well thats lovely. So how many children do you have?"

She had heard her remark about becoming a mother, but she had been rude and hadnt asked about them. Father would tan her hide.

PostPosted: Sun Oct 07, 2007 5:18 pm

The mare before her look so pleased with herself at helping her father that Shaitani could only smile, shaking her head softly and sending that short blue tuft of a mane flopping in either direction. Jean-Claude should be proud of his little girl, even if they had a more than rocky relationship, for she really did have his best interests in heart. He wasn’t too much of a failure as a father, at least not if one judged by Naina. Of course, she also thought he mentioned something once about her being raised by someone else. Still, he had done well enough to keep their relationship strong.

“Three,” she said slowly, almost slipping up and saying two. There were three, after all, even if she didn’t know where the third one was. “I have two sons, and a third child that I will never know,” she said in a matter-of-fact voice, as if it just was and that was all there was to it. Of course, she didn’t figure that Naina would see it as too horrible, considering her father could claim the same problem but on a much larger scale.

Naina took notice in the mares face as she spoke of her children. She seemed just like daddy did when Naina spoke of Trevelyn or Memory.
He had met them once as they emerged. Or at least.. Memory that he knew of.

He met Trev once after that as an adult, and Trev was less than welcoming. He hated Jean for the fear of his mother.
Memory had only met Jean once as a filly, just as Naina had met her mother the same day as a filly.
Niether of the filly's liked the older counterpart, as Naina saw her mother as a traitor, and Jean scared Memory.

"That sounds very much like our family. We are very broken, but we get through. I'd rather not know my siblings then have them hate me like they do."
She said, not realizing it was the very thing that Jean had said to Shai. She was serious though. It was just her siblings, she could live with out them. But to know they hated her for the scared little filly she'd once been? That ate her up inside.

"Your two boys though, they must be marevlous stallions. Look at the mother they have to follow."
She didnt realize that one of the stallions, was seeing her once friend, Marahute.
