Soft green eyes peered out over the pridelands. She hated hunting but she was hungry, usually she would have hung back, fearing the deep red blood which marred the other females coats as they killed the creature that they would eat. Somehow, she had missed the hunt though and the bones had been picked clean before she had gotten there. If she wanted to eat, she would have to do it herself. Her pale body slinked slowly accross the ground, the grasses moving breezily around her. She could see the antilope all too well in the distance, she just had to not startle it. Radi could be a good little huntress if she would just not panick, not fear the kill.

Breaking in to a run she charged for the small deer like creature with her claws unsheathed, it was the perfect pounce and the beast went down under her, it was young and weak and she easily sat on it, her teeth barred ready to make that killing bite, she just, couldn't do it. Looking down saddly at the startled beast she snuffled unhappily, tears rolling down her pale cheeks. She just wasn't very good at this, she could eat it if it was dead, but she couldn't kill it, not just for herself.

Eusi had been hunting the same set of creatures. She was an expert huntress though, it was all she did with her free time (if she was hungry, anyhow) and she was not the squeamish type. She had mastered stalking and knew multiple ways to bring down a prey-beast. Hunting was what she had pride in. So as she watched the antelope one could imagine how surprised and pissed she was when they suddenly all scattered! Her perfect chance, gone!

Her eyes narrowed and flickered lightening-quick to see who had caused this upstart. They landed on a young female, black and white. She snarled and suddenly bolted, heading right for the girl. She could see the squirming beast under her, not yet killed. "Fool! Bite it's throat! What are you waiting for?" She yelled out. Well if she wasn't going to bring it down her self she certainly would have her share of the younger member's meal!

Radi startled as the older femme came charging towards her. Her ears flattened tightly against her head and she started to back off the startled creatures heaving back. "I..I..Iccant.." She mumbled, further tears rolling down her cheeks now, though these were mostly caused by the fear of being shouted at. Radi was such a quiet little lioness anything out of place often upset her, she was infact a very sensitive soul.

Licking her pale lips the antilope at her paws started to wriggle free, she guessed from Eusi's expression though if she let the beast go that she was in for a trouncing so she unsheathed her claws holding the creature still. "Please..you do it." She mumbled closing her soft green eyes so she couldn't watch the poor creature die, though it's yells for help rang loudly in her ears. She hated this part.

Eusi snarled and almost shoved the little girl off the kill she was about to make. She slowed her pace and said nothing, walking the remaining few feet. Her eyes were on the pridelander, not on the prey. Why did she shut her eyes? Was she afraid? That really sickened Eusi! Afraid of a little prey beast... She snorted and lunged forward, the force of her body going into the prey made all three of them shake a little.

Her fangs pierced the skin and her eyes shut in pure joy as the first bit of blood started to spill past her lips. After a moment she let go, shifting and looking up, staring at the female. "Why couldn't you do something so simple!" Eusi was not shouting, but her voice was full of anger.

Shivering a little, the timid Radi looked at the older, larger female with fear in her eyes, now the antilope was dead she could look at it. It was food now, where before it had been something living, something she didn't or couldn't kill. "I.." She trailed off hse could hear the anger thick in the others voice, clearing her throat she tried to stop her bottom lips from trembling and answer the female straight, which was very hard when your heart was poinding in your ears and you couldn't stop crying.

"I usually don't hunt alone.." She whispers, her voice strained and squeeky "I..i can't..well..you saw..I'v..I just can't" She sniffled, looking ever more the pitiful mess. She had never killed anything, she had eaten from kills, she had helped to bring the beasts down, but she had never taken a life, their calls and the thought of killing something that never did anything to her scared her. This failed attempt just prooved, she would never be okay alone.

Eusi frowned and the anger went from her face. She just looked a bit annoyed and very pissy. "You shouldn't hunt at all if you can't kill anything!" She muttered. "You should be ashamed of calling yourself a huntress, if that is indeed what you do for this pride!" And then she turned, eying the kill. She ripped into the side, devouring some of the meat.

She was giving herself time to think, to cool off. After all, this young one was a stranger. Eusi really shouldn't be berating her... Her ears pinned back to her skull. Well, someone had to! Didn't they?

After a minute she lifted her head and moved away, nodding. "Well, eat."

Letting her ears flicker uncomfortably, the pale pridelander slipped forwards and took a small bite of the meat under Eusi's angry gaze. "I'm sorry..I don't usually hunt alone." She whispers her voice strained. "My mother usually kills I just help to bring it down.." She looked up at Eusi an ashamed look on her pale maw. She was indeed sorry that she had made herself look a fool, especially in front of this female, she didn't even know who she was but she looked very powerfully built and rather frightening.

"It's just..I was hungry and she'd already hunted..I thought I could maybe do it on my own.." She trails off sopft green eyes peering up at Eusi. She had never known anyone be so angryat her.

She sighed, almost feeling pity for the young lioness. She assumed it was because she wanted to have cubs and was getting all matronly on everyone, or at least in her mind she was. "Why are you afraid of killing it? Your form is good... you are fast and stealthy. You could be a great huntress." She said slowly and grudgingly, because she wanted to be the only 'great' huntress around.

It didn't matter, she could help out the little girl and then be on her way.

"Well..I just..I don't like the look they give you..I know it's foolish but..but well I hate that they know they are going to die..please..just don't shout at me I just don't like to kill things and I know how foolishthat sounds." She looks down at the grass, hopeing quietly thats he would vanish in to the fronds. "I keep trying but Mother always has to kill them for me..I don't think I could ever be a real huntress." She sniffles scuffing her paws in the dusty earth.

Eusi frowned and her head tilted and she sat. "I'm not going to shout at you." She paused. "Any more." She almost felt guilty about shouting... but she still felt a little disgusted. "You wouldn't kill something... even if it was coming after you? Or will you just not kill something because it screams in terror as a defensive characteristic of that animal?" Her tail flicked, she was curious.

Radi rolled her pale shoulders at the question,s he felt uncomfortable under the older lionesses gaze but she peered up from the ground and spoke in whispery tones. "I don't think I could kill anything ma'am, I just, I can't stand the thought that I would kill them, for food, for pleasure, for what ever reason, I don't think I can kill soemthing directly. I can help..but..but I just can't kill them. I know it's silly maa'am but it frightens me to see their faces knowing they are about to die." She wriggled her toes once again her soft green gaze saddned. "I know that must sound very foolish to you, you are such a great huntress.."

Eusi frowned. "Stop calling me ma'am please, it makes me feel old. You can call me Eusi." She was trying to sound friendlier, she didn't like how... squirmy this girl was.

"You wouldn't kill anything even if it threatened your life? That is about surviving, not hunting for pleasure or for food!" She said, fur bristling because she was starting to get worked up. She sighed. "You are the oddest female I've ever met.." It wasn't a mean comment, she was just confused. She thought it was in the lion's nature to hunt.

"Oh..I'm sorry..I didn't mean to..I'm.." she trails off her ears flickering uncomfortably. the pale female was feeling more and more awquard, she thought perhaps she should simply take her leave of this lioness before she got shouted at again. Licking her pale lips she took a breath. "Yes Eusi, I suppose I am odd but, I don't know..I don't think I could do it..it just isn't in me." She sighs softly looking past the dark lioness saddly.

"Thankyou for your help with dinner." She whispers leaning down to take anpother bite, swallowing swiftly so as to not seem too rude. "I should really head home though." She smiles gently her pale green eyes still watery with unshed tears. She dsidn't understand herself either but she had a feeling she couldn't do what Eusi found naturally, she knew it was strange, but she could not change that.

Eusi blinked and nodded slowly. "Er... yeah.. bye. I'm sorry for.." She trailed off as the little girl headed away because she didn't really know what to be sorry for. She was that way and Eusi was just this way. That was life, right?

She shifted and moved over the carcass, devouring more food to fuel the life growing inside of her.
