Who: Miaka & Tamahome & their kits. Maybe friends of the kits too. maybe. ^_^ What: Going on a picnic!! ^_^ Where: A lake with a few shade trees in a flower covered meadow. When: Late September. midday Why: family time!
The priestess of Suzaku hummed to herself happily as she set out the huge picnic lunch she had helped prepare. Her kit son, Hotohori, was keeping himself busy by keeping those things Miaka had already set out safe from his mother's beautiful but often clumsy self. He was starting to look a little stressed already, and his mother did not know what he was doing! Which was good. Hotohori did not wish his mother to know. He loved her dearly and it would sadden her if anything messed up this picnic, even herself. She paused to nuzzle her son happily as he discretely moved a pie from beneath her paw before nearly stepping in it. Keeping Miaka out of trouble was a full time job! How did his father do it?

Makoto was sitting in the shade of a tree nearby reading a book she had found, looking up every now and again as Hoto dashed here and there trying to save the food. She giggled at him her mother was a a cluts but you couldn't prevent the inevitable, -something- was bound to go wrong.

Makoto would be right. Her brother could not be in all places at once and as more food was put out there was more room for mistakes. "Mother, watch out!"
Miaka turned, looking at her son with a surprised and confused look on her perpetually young and innocent face. Loking at her son.. and not the boll of cherries in the path of her pink tipped paw. It caught the edge of the bowl, cherries rolling everywhere. "Oh!" The priestess exclaimed unhappily, large tears gathering in her eyes.
"Don't worry, Mother! I'll get it! Why not sit with Makoto & rest for a while? You've done so much work already...." Gently, dark eyes full of concern Hotohori lead their mother to where his sister sat reading then gave both females light, sweet kisses upon their cheeks before trotting off to gather the cherries back into the bowl. Really... if that was the worst that happened it was not too bad. At least his mother had kept her paws out of the pies...

Makoto giggled poor Hotohori was having to be the parent to their mother "Mother really you must be more careful" she didn't look up from her book it was fascinating "Did you know there once were creatures so big they ate leaves off the top of the very tallest trees?" Makoto was glad her mother wasn't so big, think of all the damage done if she were! "Look " she pointed to an image in the book "This is what they think the creatures looked like! Neat hu?" As long as she could keep her mother interested in the book Hotohori could take care of the picnic in peace.

Miaka never was very good at school. In fact the book of four worlds was the only one she could ever really get into. Literally. But she did so want to be a good mother! Curiously she looked over her daughter's shoulder, blinking at the images. "Wow. Those are big. Are those dinosaurs?" There was a mild confusion to her question. Really, sometimes it would be nice to retain some of what she had needed to learn in school! Well at least she still had the basics...
Hotohori shot his Makoto a grateful look but did not dare say his thanks for fear of either upsetting their mother or distracting her to want to finish getting out the rest of the picnic food. The only son set to that diligently once he had gathered the spilled cherries, having to work hard on some that were heavy or nearly as large as he was. But Hotohori did not complain. Except... goodness there was a lot of food! Were they feeding an army? His dark gaze flashed to their mother and he sighed with a soft smile & light shake of his head. No... not an army. Just the family, but with Miaka's appetite it could very well be an army.

"Yeah" Makoto said cheerfully, she hadn't been sure her mother knew about dinosaurs, "Aren't they neat?! There are so many different kinds too ..some are kinda scary looking though" Makoto turned back a few pages for her mother to see an image of a T-Rex "See? Such big teeth" she giggled a little not wanting her mother to think this was a book that would scare Makoto, when Hotohori gave her the grateful look Makoto winked back to say 'no problem'

Both Tamahome and Nuriko had been up in a tree sleeping. They hadn't had much sleep since their master had two jobs and today they didn't have to keep there owner up anymore so they found rest were ever it was comfortable to them. Nuriko brown hair hid her eyes. Tamahome on the other hand was counting money in sleep. Tamahome's tails slipped down from where they slept and blew in the wind. Nuriko snuggled up in her father's chest. Nuriko was almost like a female version of Tamahome but was also she was like the male Nuriko she had been named after. Her charm on her right paw shimmered in the light of the sun.

"Yeah..." Miaka agreed, not convinced. Was it important to know what happened to something that died out millions of years ago or something? What did they eat? Miaka started thinking about all her favorite foods and pouted. Dinosaurs probably didn't like to eat what she did. And if they did... well then there would not be any left for her would there be? Pouting Miaka made a small mew. She was trying... really she was. "I'm glad there's none now. Pictures in a book are much better."
Looking around Hotohori nodded at the spread. It looked good. He was about to tell his family everything was ready when he heard his mother's worried voice. "Where's Nuriko? & Tamahome?" Her son shook his head sadly pointing his paw at the tree were they slept. "Over there, Mother."
Kissing her daughter on the head the priestess got up and skipped over to the tree with a happy look on her face, her eyes sparkling. ^_^ Tamahome, kits, picnic... could it get any better? "Tamahome!" She sang happily. "Nuriko! Time to wake up!"

Makoto put a book mark on her page and closed the book, stretched and trodded over to Hotohori and the picnic "Everything all ready then?"

Nuriko woke up and half dazed a bit. "Just five more minutes ma." said Nuriko curling up with Tamahome again. She wasn't one to get up with just her name being called.
Tamahome shifted about and opened his right eye. He looked down. "Hello Miaka," he said with a purr in his throat. He picked Nuriko up by her ruff and jumped down. He placed Nuriko down and she awoke and stumbled around like a some what drunk person would. Tamahome smiled. "Our children are getting stronger and bigger with each passing day."

"Yes. Everything is ready." Hotohori answered his sister with a smile, making sure to say it loud enough for the others to hear. Miaka heard, but she was giggling at her 'drunken' daughter and now mid pounce to snuggle her beloved. Everything she loved was here: Tamahome, kits... and food. "Tamahome! heart " Snuggle, purr. Grin. "They sure do! Why Hotohori already helps out so much and Makoto is so much smarter than me." Happily she nuzzled Tamahome, not tripping only because she wasn't moving.

Nuriko finally wakes up and stretched. She did yawn a bit and she covered her mouth. Nuriko smiled at her mother. Though when she smiled it was just like Tamahome smile. "So mom what did you and Hoto make?"
Tamahome snuggled up to Miaka. "So what are having for the pinic."

Makoto sat patiently waiting for the others to be ready to eat before starting, her tails wagging, this was going to be fun, they could sit and eat and talk, and she had so many thoughts in her head she could share, hopefully mom wouldn't make too big of a mess

Miaka gave a happy purr at the nuzzle before bouncing excitedly at the question. "Come see! Come see!! It's all ready!" Hopping backwards the priestess hurried to the blanket covered with pies, sandwiches, bowls of fruit, thermoses of drinks. There was even a huge pile of fried chicken. Hotohori seeing his mother completely not watching where she was going hurried to intercept her, rising on his hindlegs to shove his shoulder against hers and distract her into stopping. He let out a huge breath of relief as he succeeded, Miaka coming to a stop beside the spread blanket and wagging her phoenix marked pink blended tails while grinning widely & watching for everyone's reactions.
Hotohori grinned sheepishly as the others approached. Well somehow he still had managed it... keeping his mother out of their food. Sometimes it was hard to believe someone as beautiful as Mother could be so klutzy.
