Amoret was somewhere out there, alive and well enough to have had at least one cub and then abandon him. Even after Amadet left the one she assumed (quite correctly) to be her nephew, she couldn't help but think about it. He'd looked so much like their father, it was hard to imagine he could have had one of his own. Amoret must have found a mate of similar patterns, perhaps even heritage. It wasn't a happy reminder for the rogue lioness to be forced to realize that her family, her pride, was still out there somewhere no matter how she acted, or how they acted.
So, sitting in the cool shade of a tree, Amadet watched the sunrise and thought back to before she'd become a rogue. They were not happy thoughts, but she kept her expression somewhere between blank and displeased- showing mild annoyance at best.

The large goddess wandered around in the morning light, enjoying the way the light played off of the gems in her coat and against her metallic wings. This morning was one of the first that she did not steal away in her makeshift cave, her heart had been feeling lighter and less guilty and the thoughts of a white cub had or the moment eased away from her mind.
Walking she made it a point to whisper to some of the rocks as she passed and ask questions to the rocks that passed beneath her, each story they told was information she could use at another date, and although rocks and minerals seemed to be silent watchers to her they were constant companions and constant chatter.
Shuffling her wings gently she smiled widely at the dancing colors across her path.

The odd reflection of light off of the wings and gems of the goddess dancing along the ground caught the pondering lioness' attention when she noticed something strange moving about nearby. Curiously, without giving it much thought, Amadet turned her gaze to the light and then around for it's source- and her attention was very much caught at the sight of a lion shape with something highly reflective on her back and what appeared to be antlers sticking up off her head.
After a couple of blinks against the blinding relfection, Amadet squinted her eyes as she tried to get a clearer look. Her expression now truly was blank- if she didn't know any better, she could swear it had to be a god.

If Boma'burudi could hear Amadet's thoughts she would have corrected her in saying, "goddess" but of course that was not one of Boma's powers and the goddess was unaware of Amadet's presents. One of the rock's story caught her attention when it started to speak about a near by lioness, one that seemed to be sad. Perking up Boma looked back and forth for the lioness. Rocks were unable to tell lies but they also were unable to tell the passage of time so it was possible the rock had seen this days or weeks earlier.
Boma turned and spotted Amadet and her brow wrinkled, she didn't seem sad? Katana'k would be mortified at the thought of Boma walking up to a mortal, but her new found friend wasn't here to stop her was she? Striding towards the lioness proudly Boma spoke, "Hello there, I'm Boma'burudi!" she said cheerfully, something unlike her usual melacholy self, a mood swing to be certain but a good thing for Amadet.

Amadet kept her cold, orange-gold eyes on the goddess as she approached. She seemed frozen, amazed at what she was seeing- in truth, that was part of it. Amadet was never one to have doubted the existance of immortals, only that one might be so nearby or seem so friendly. In fact, after the whole incident with the pride, Amadet was quite certain that all gods were malicious tricksters who delighted in causing trouble for those who worshipped them and were supposed to be protected by them.
Needless to say, she was a bit suspicious when Boma came right up to her and introduced herself in such a cheerful way.
"Boma'burudi," Amadet repeated quietly, wondering at being allowed to use such a casual name in the presence of a goddess. In conversation with other mortals, maybe- but to a divinity themselves?
"I am Amadet," she introduced herself politely, and also standing up so as not to be any ruder than necessary. "What is a goddess like yourself doing in such a .. well, in a place like this?" Her words did not sound as suspicious as she was.

Boma'burudi would never have caught on to Amadet's suspicions, but she also would not blame her for being that way, was Boma not suspicious towards mortals? Bowing her head slightly in good faith Boma answered, "Amadet it is a pleasure to meet you. I have been wandering, that's all...hoping to find someone from home."
Boma's eyes scanned over Amadet critically and her two toned orbs stopped at the symbol on Amadet's side, where have I seen that? She thought and for a moment thought to ask her about it, and thought better. The mortal was not asking about her appearance, best not to stir up trouble.
"So you obviously know of Gods," she added, "and what are you doing then? A question for a question."

Wanting to find someone from home was almost laughable, if one tried to apply it for Amadet herself. Where would a goddess be going around here to find someone from her home? Surely this was not some secret dwelling for immortals, though Amadet did survey the area she was in critically. It certainly did not appear to be anything special. She missed the goddess' looking her over when she looked about.
"I'm, eh, fotunate enough to know of the Gods, yes," she murmured in reply. Though Amadet had only ever been taught about three specific gods, she would never have allowed herself to imagine they were the only three out there. At least, she wouldn't allow herself to be surprised when it proved that they were not, "I'm not doing anything in particular, avoiding someone from home, you could say."

"It's best to confront conflict, not that I've ever really done it myself," she nodded and flashed another unaccustom grin. It was a mixture of happiness and almost slap happiness that she was experiencing, it's possibly because the morning was prety and good weather meant for a chatty earth.
As suddenly as she dismissed it she realized where she knew that symbol from, Mtima! Of course! This lioness looked older than the lovely yellow son, and also did not resemble any of Mtima's colors..but certainly no one was wandering around passing out Mtima's symbols were they?
"That symbol.." she trailed off, she'd told herself not to ask, but the deed had been done it was at least mentioned.

"Can't confront conflict if it's mutual avoidance," she pointed out blandly. Amoret was avoiding her- or, she'd been avoiding the pride, their family, apparently even her own cubs. It was not a simple matter of going back and telling her off for what she'd done, though it was almost a tempting idea. Amadet took a moment to imagine what might come if she ran into her beloved sister, but was pulled from the .. wonderful moment when Boma mentioned her marking.
Raising an eyebrow, Amadet glanced over her shoulder and to the plain rune that marked her left hind leg. She held back on rolling her eyes, wondering what on earth the Goddess could have found so interesting about it.
"Ah, the very reminder of the conflict," she said, looking back at Boma'burudi. For all Amadet knew, it was meaningless- meaningless in that it held absolutely no value for her, or for her former pride. It had always been treated as such, and therefore was a rather touchy point for the bitter lioness.

"Ahh, I see. Well, I've been searching to resolve a bit of a conflict, but in doing that I'd have to face my own fears," she babbled onward, "There's no one that could possibly have given you that mark...is there? I know someone with it..but you do not remind me of her." She thought hard about the idea that Mtima could have a score to settle with this mortal, but it seemed to Boma that the yellow goddess would have mentioned something..wouldn't she? Possibly not, they were not that close.
It's possible Mtima has family, you dolt! She chided herself, You don't know EVERYONE.
"You're not yellow, afterall." she chuckled.

"I don't expect my conflict can be resolved," Amadet said bitterly, for she would never be truly happy with how things had gone- and no matter what happened to Amoret, she probably never would be. Curse the gods who blessed her with such fortunately marked fur, and left her sister with nothing but the taunting shape they now discussed. She didn't react to the question about having gotten the marking from, not until Boma said she knew someone with it.
At that, she was rather curious. Was there a source of this marking that no one else in the family had? Amadet had speculated before, but come to the conclusion that most possibilities she came up with were impossible, or she would have known.
"You know where it's from? Who is it?" she asked, strangling a demanding tone.

"She's a goddess, you're a mortal, I don't see the resemblance but that mrk, so I bet I have it wrong, I'd give up an antler if I was right," she chuckled again, "Mtima, she's the goddess of souls, do you know her?" She had never really called Mtima by her full name and she had forgotten the last half.
"She's yellow, you're brown, a very big difference."

It didn't take much to get a firm hold on Amadet's interest, for as soon as Boma said that the marking was from a goddess the lioness could hardly keep the surprise from her expression. How could it be that the marking she'd always loathed and taken for meaningless.. how could it be that it was connected to come divinity. She was hardly expecting the name that Boma next used, for surely the pride would have known such a symbol was on a deity of theirs- they certainly knew those of Mzimu'soka well enough.
"Mtima'safi? You know her?" she questioned in amazement, "She lives?"
Something had happened to the gods, that much the pride had seemed certain of. Some had spoken of the simply disappearing, others of them abandoning them entirely.. all sorts of crazy things had been said in the debates. Amadet hadn't realized she had come to believe that the trio of gods was actually dead or gone, not until she dared to ask.

"Of course I know her, and she lives, Mtima'safi I always call her Mtima, you know her then? Should she bed dead?" Finding something new about her oldest friend seemed almost like being lied too.
"I guess I did not know so much about my oldest friend as I thought." She knew about her friends lovely mortal family, and how she wished her life was like that as well. Maybe Mtima had given the other lioness the mark? Was she leading an enemy to her friend?
"Listen, Mtima is my friend and if there is bad blood..I well, I'm not sure what I would do to you. You said the marking was the reminder of your conflict.."

Amadet stared as Boma'burudi explained, and asked if Mtima should be dead. Having surprised herself with that question, the lioness barely managed to shake her head against the idea. But if she had not died, why had so many been convinced they'd been abandoned? Perhaps they were extending the symbolism of Amoret's abandoning them, assuming that the gods had taken her away..
Bunch of know-nothing zealots.
But then.. the pride had still been allowed to dissolve. The gods could not have wanted such a group of followers to disband, could they? If they were still there, they should have done something- anything.
Amadet was pulled back from her thoughts by Boma's questioning.
"No, no-" she said carefully, hiding a good deal of her resentment- but being no actress, she instead chose a story to explain it away with, "The mark- I never knew.. I was told that she was gone." Amadet hoped the vagueness of the story would not be questioned, though so far she had told no lies. Surely the truth about the marking would not condemn her as an enemy of the goddess.
