I go to a Christian church every Sunday, and the preacher talks about dreams sometimes (so does the Bible).

The Bible says the inner self is the spirit, while the outer self is the body.

Is it true dreams are from our inner self? Are dreams our closest encounters with the spirit world?

It's all on perspective, for me. I believe it's an outside and inside encounter...

Outside exm...
Demons love attacking us in our sleep, they find it fun, and it's when were most week. Ever notice if you have a bad dream that you want to stop, but it just keeps on going?

Inside...
You can be with God or as you said... Welcome to the spirit world.

Yes and no.

Our dreams are the places where we are most vulnerable because they take suggestion very easily. Guard your heart and your dreams with the Word of God, testing each thought and vision and taking each captive in obedience to Christ Jesus.

*sigh* I cherish my dreams, sometimes, because I feel that some of them are God's way of giving us sneak-previews of Heaven, of HOME.

Dreams are very interesting things, and obviously God created our brains so that we would be able to experience them. And I'm sure that He sometimes uses our dreams to communicate things to us. We do need to be careful though, and make sure the message is truly from God.

If so then that's hella hella interesting. It reminds me of a theory I have, here it goes, so LISTEN:

I think that our souls have 100% capacity of their brain function. People have theorized that the human brain at 100% of it's capacity can use some sort of amount of psychic power. Not like evil psychic power just...you know..telekeneticism stuff like that.

So, I think that when we have dreams, and sometimes those dreams end up happening, it's because our souls predicted whats going to happen (in a very vague way though). Just a theory though. sweatdrop

Maybe when the physical body is out of the way (during sleep, etc), God can talk to your spirit easier.

Speaking of dreams and nightmares and Satan attacking you in your sleep and stuff, I don't usually have nightmares, which I suppose is a good thing, but I never EVER ever wake up from nightmares, no matter how scary there are. But when I wake up I'm not scared, and its in the morning. No waking up in the middle of my dream, no "cold sweat" thing.
I attribute this blessing to God, although sometimes I'm not sure why I'm not scared out of my wits in those dreams. lol

Medically, dreams are just memories reviewed or our self-concious brain still being "on" while we sleep. However, as someone has already said, they can't explain the mysteries of "future dreams." I think it's our soul. Our soul is much closer to God, so when we sleep, since our bodies shut-down, it's easier for our souls to influence us and our thoughts.

mm, I agree
Scientists explanations for dreams is that it's the brain sortin everythin out, but I think it's your soul sorting everything out when your body and brain is switched off to a certain extent...

I think it's both because I've experienced some things myself related to dreams.

In many of my dreams I have seen things that were extremely related to my day so I find that it is true that dreams are our brains at work while we sleep. Our brains take this time of idleness to sort our memories deeper into our minds so that we remember better, and since our brain is what processes our senses, our senses can come into dreams also.

Just last night my brother showed me this game named Portals. In this game you had a portal gun, and you used it to make portals and get through the level. It's a puzzle game. Now, last night had a dream where I was stepping through portals, and I would arrive at a place that is similar to a place that I have been, a place in my memories.

There are some dreams that I have had that were in no way related to memories though.

One night I had a dream that I can almost guarantee you that was about heaven. Obviously I can't completely guarantee you this, but I couldn't match this dream with anything I've felt before. It was amazing. It seemed like was under water looking up at the surface, but at the same time I was floating in the sky looking down. I was also, at the same time, looking up into the nearly cloudless sky and looking down into pure, clean water from Earth. That's the best way that I can explain this dream. There's no other way...

...It's so peaceful...
