This isn't meant to turn into a competition.
Speaking for myself, I've always objected to the marketing hard-sell surrounding the franchise, and I just buy things I like rather than collect Sonic things.

Before I was at university, my parents were so dead-set against merchandising hard-sell that they wouldn't indulge me - and once I was a
student, away from home and free to make my own choices, I mainy agreed with them and partly couldn't afford much on my budget anyway. smile
What's your favourite piece of merchandise in your collection? Does it have a history?
I have three favourites:
1. My Sonic 2 Tails plush, which was one of the last things my grandmother gave me before she died, and which as well as being extremely cute, brings back memories of long mornings being babysat whilst off school sick, and playing two-player Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 for hours on end.
Both of my grandparents on that side played a mean game of Sonic 2. smile
2. My Cream UFO catcher, for being one of my other favourite characters and being incredibly cute.
3. My Sally plushie, who I was just plain lucky to find (let alone as cheaply as I did), even if it took me over a year and searching multiple auction sites. smile

I tend not to accumulate alot of merchandise, but I do have UK edition Sonic & Tails 1992 plushies, a Sonic Adventure (not sure if it's 1 or 2) Tails plushie (large), Sonic X Rouge, and SA1 Big.
Games I listed in the relevant thread. I also have some Fleetway promo and Richard Elson originals, a gift from a friend smile
Pretty sure that's about it, however I've got a serious urge to make some of my own orders from the person I got Nuala (and another friend)'s Christmas presents. Not that it'd be official merchandise, but they look cute anyway biggrin

My favorites of my current items are my Metal Sonic plushies and Archie #25. My most valuable posession is my custom Sonic Heroes Espio plush. My oldest posession is my Sonic 2 Sonic plush, it and Sonic 2 Tails by far have the most sentimental value since I grew up with them.
I'm an extremely avid plushie collector and plan to try getting one of each, including the extremely rare ones like Super Sonic, Sally and AoSTH/StC Robotnik. Although my top two most wanted items are a large Sonic the Fighters Metal Sonic and a large Sonic the Fighters Fang/Nack.
I'd also really like to get my mits on that laser etched crystal and the gold ring >> As well as the complete StC series.
ANYTHING with Metal Sonic's mug on it that I don't already own is absolute top priority.
