Brown spotted tail twitching slightly, Milu blinked large yellow eyes as she peered around the large, mostly-empty room. She'd felt the distinct urge to be on the prowl, something she hadn't done in God knows how long. Leaving her most recent kitten (More? It was simply ridiculous) to be minded by her twin brother for a few hours, she had slinked off to the main room of the pound to see what (or who) was up for grabs. Thus far, nobody had caught her discerning eye...
"Ahhhhhh~" A loud howl echoed across the upper hallway of the pound, and a small kitten crawled rapidly (At what seemed a ridiculous pace for such a small child) across the floor. She was, at second glance, quite naked, as she seemed to have lost her customary diaper somewhere.
Howling in a similar manner, a much larger feline was giving chase, a bright pink diaper in hand, which flapped in the air as he ran. "Come baaaack! I was only trying to change it!" He whined a little under his breath, starting to despair as the bizarrely swift baby turned a corner. She had had a head start, as he'd been distracted by a rainbow reflected on the wall, but still... This was sad. Gritting his teeth in determination, he picked up the pace. Milu would kill him if he lost her.

Similarly, another Wayward was chasing something, only he was chasing a ball. Which was quite odd, considering he was a feline, but then again, to Charuan anything but would be lying. The fist sized red ball bounced into a seemingly empty room and the calico cat joyfully bounded in after it on all fours.

High as her hopes had been for this excursion, Milu had to admit that she was beginning to get bored. For some inexplicable reason, nobody seemed to be wandering into the main room of the pound today, an unusual occurance indeed. She was about to give up and relieve Vilu of his babysitting duties, when an older, calico cat bounded into the room in a very un-adult-like manner. He appeared to be chasing a rather ratty old ball. Wrinkling her nose in distaste, she edged further behind the chair she was lurking behind.
Noting that her uncle was edging ever closer to her position underneath the hall table, Echoe let out a small squeak and tried to pull her tail further in around her.
As he rounded the corner, the victorious look on Vilu's face was quickly turned to a pout; The kitten he sought was nowhere in sight. Waving the diaper as if it was some sort of beckoning flag, he wandered down the hallway calling the small cat's name; "Echoeeeee~".

"Aha," Char said with a grin as the ball hit a wall and rolled to a stop. Pouncing on it, he flopped onto his back, dark hair splayed around him as he threw the ball into the air, catching it, and tossing it again.

Much as the feline in the room before her seemed like a simple-minded idiot.. She had to admit, she was intrigued. Bit by bit, she edged forwards, until she was peering curiously at him from only a few feet away. He certainly does seem to be enjoying himself, she thought with a small smile. He was so engrossed with his ball that he didn't even seem to have noticed her yet.
"Ah-ha!" Vilu finally cried as he spotted the tip of a brown, striped tail poking out from beneath the small table in the center of the hall. "Found you!" Dropping quickly to all fours, he slithered across the hallway on his belly until he was face-to-face with the fleeing kitten. "Let's get this diaper on you!"
Echoe let out a small, plaintive whine at Vilu's sudden movements, shrinking back against the wall even further.

It took him a full minute to notice she was there, and when he finally did, he was so startled that he missed catching the ball and it hit in square in the head. Embarrassed, he quickly got to his feet, scooping up the offending ball as he did and hiding it behind his back. "Hullo," he said, a sheepish grin on his face.

Her small smile spread to a distinctly un-Milu-like grin, as the calico finally noticed her presence, in a very awkward manner. He might not be incredibly intelligent, but he certainly was cute. "Hi there," she replied smoothly, her long tail curling around one leg. "What's your name, cutie?"

The cat flushed at her words. "Charuan," he said hurriedly, scratching the back of his head with the hand not hiding the ball. "And you are?"

Holding in a snicker at his obvious shielding of the ball from her view, Milu forced a straight face and smiled warmly at him. "My name is Milu. It's quite nice to meet you, Charuan," she replied with a small curtsy, looking him coyly in the eyes as she did so.

"It's nice to meet you--" Char started, stopping as her name set off alarms in his head. "--Milu." Milu. He hadn't seen her in years, and yet it hurt to see her, well, once he remembered her, of course. The first person he had had a crush on, and she had broken his heart, preferring to "play the field" as it had been explained to him later. Stormy grey eyes widening, he took a wary step backwards, wanting to put distance between them, but without appearing rude. Mer didn't like it when he was rude.

Blinking at him, she took a step forwards to compensate for his inexplicable backing up. "Are you okay...?" She asked cautiously, her sly manner dropped for an air of concern. He seemed quite alarmed.

He took another measured step backwards, his ears flattened against his head as he looked down at her. "You.. you don't remember me, do you?" he said softly, his voice sad. Somehow that seemed almost more painful than what she had done before.

"Remember you...?" Milu took another step forward, laying a cautious hand on his arm in an effort to calm him. Taking in his flattened ears and defensive posture, she wondered what she could have possibly done to upset him so. Searching the recesses of her memory, she finally managed to extract the image of a much smaller, similarly-colored cat, who she'd spoke to briefly in her childhood. "Ahhh... Char." She said at length, with a snap of her fingers. "That's right, we met as children, once."

He nodded, looking down at her paw resting on his arm and realized he was shaking slightly. Startled, he cleared his throat in a futile attempt to calm himself.

"I'm sorry, Char," she said quietly, noting how shook up he seemed to be over this. "It was quite a long time ago," she lamented, before leaning in to hug him. She wasn't quite sure what she had done to upset him quite this much, but she certainly felt bad nonetheless.
