He could think of nothing better than the feel of wind rustling through his feathers as he sped through the sky. This was what freedom was all about. This was a wide, open space that he had completely to himself. "Woohoo!" He pulled his wings in and spiraled downwards, spreading them last minute to sweep his body back into the air. This was life.

Kal trotted through the grass, too lost in thought to even feel the light breeze or soft sunshine on his fur. Unlike the stallion soaring in the sky somewhere above him, there was nothing to suggest freedom from the way the little alicorn carried himself. Shame was a heavy burden for such a little stallion.
He was completely unaware of the stallion above him until the dramatic drop right nearby startled him out of his thoughts. He completely spooked for a second, but recovered quickly and paused to watch the other fly.

He gave his massive wings another flap to carry his body higher, kicking at the air with his hooves. From up here he could see a small stream... Water would be great.
He pulled in his wings once more, dropping down only to spread them again in order to glide in for a landing. Once his hooves touched the ground and he finished skidding to a halt he gave his head a light toss, grinning as he glanced around.

Kal hadn't realized he had been staring wistfully after the other stallion until he dove again, and the little one felt his heart leap. But there was no crash landing that time either, just a graceful glide, a graceful landing and a graceful head toss.
Before he could be caught staring, Kal quickly dropped his own head to crop at the grass and pretend he hadn't been watching. With those strong wings, that stallion probably didn't even need to take a running start before taking flight...

He stretched his wings out completely, rustling feathers before pulling the fluffy, white masses back towards his body. As the feathers settled he turned, trying to recall just which direction it had been that he'd spotted the stream from above. "Now... I know it was around here somewhere."

The little alicorn tried hard to stay inconspicuous and hope the other stallion didn't notice him, but he didn't realize he was standing right between the stallion and the stream. He also didn't realize the sunlight shone quite brightly off his gold markings.
Maybe if he stayed quiet, the white and blue male would take flight again and Kal could really see if he could take off from a standstill.

He gave his head another toss before turning it towards what he hoped was the stream. Upon doing so he realized that he wasn't alone (of course). He was, instead, in the company of a rather plain stallion (it looked like a stallion, at least) with short, shaggy hair, horns and wings.
His brow lofted slightly as he trotted towards the other stallion. "Hey, you don't by any chance know which way the stream is from here, do you?"

Kal's head shot up.
"I-I... uhm... Yeah." Caught off guard, he took a couple skittish steps backwards and at the same time removed the only object that was blocking the other's view of the stream.

His brow lofted slightly as he glanced at the other for a moment. "Was that a 'yes' or a ... Oh! There it is! Great. I was heading the right way." He grinned as he rustled his feathers once more before trotting past the other male.

Kal wistfully watched the larger stallion pass before lowering his head to nibble at the grasses again. Now there was confidence he could only dream of. Had this stallion always been so good at flying, or did he have to practice a lot? Strangely enough, he found himself motivated to try practicing his flying again, like Telikos had suggested. Maybe if he pushed himself harder he would do better than he had when he was younger.
Unfortunately he didn't have it in him to practice right then. He would wait until the other stallion left, since he couldn't count on not being outright laughed at.

He tossed his head so that curls wouldn't fall into the water when he leaned down to take a sip, tossing it once more to settle things back into place once he'd taken his fill of cool water. Now that was water. Good water... Fresh and cool; just enough to hold him over until he made his way back up to the mountains for water that held a real kick.
Satisfied he turned back around, eyeing the other stallion for a moment. "Hey, kid. How's your flying? Any good at it?"

Kal nearly jumped out of his skin, was the other a mind reader as well?
"I-I'm not a kid," he stammered automatically, tucking his wings tightly against his sides as he shifted nervously. Quickly realizing that wasn't enough, he actually answered the other stallion's question. "I-it's okay," was his less than satisfactory reply.

"Y'look like a kid... A bit younger than me, at least, which'd make you a kid." He grinned, giving his head a light toss. "It's been a while since I've flown with anyone... Feel like giving those wings of yours a stretch? It's bound to be more entertaining than standing around down here."

Great, now he was just being asked to embarrass himself. "I-I'm not nearly as good at flying as you are, you wouldn't have any fun flying with me," he said quickly, hoping to discourage the other before he had to make a fool of himself.

"Now... How do you know that you're not as good as I am?" His brow lofted slightly as he gave his head a toss, blonde curls fluttering against his neck. He flexed his wings, testing the air for a moment before glancing back at the other stallion. "Size isn't everything, you know, assuming that's what you're basing your judgement on. More often than not it's how you use what you've got."
