 Jaguars are the largest of South America's big cats. They once roamed from the southern tip of that continent north to the region surrounding the U.S.-Mexico border. Today significant numbers of jaguars are found only in remote regions of South and Central America—particularly in the Amazon basin. These beautiful and powerful beasts were prominent in ancient Native American cultures. In some traditions the Jaguar God of the Night was the formidable lord of the underworld. The name jaguar is derived from the Native American word yaguar, which means "he who kills with one leap." Unlike many other cats, jaguars do not avoid water; in fact, they are quite good swimmers. Rivers provide prey in the form of fish, turtles, or caimans—small, alligatorlike animals. Jaguars also eat larger animals such as deer, peccaries, capybaras, and tapirs. They sometimes climb trees to prepare an ambush, killing their prey with one powerful bite. Most jaguars are tan or orange with distinctive black spots, dubbed "rosettes" because they are shaped like roses. Some jaguars are so dark they appear to be spotless, though their markings can be seen on closer inspection. Jaguars live alone and define territories of many square miles by marking with their waste or clawing trees. Females have litters of one to four cubs, which are blind and helpless at birth. The mother stays with them and defends them fiercely from any animal that may approach—even their own father. Young jaguars learn to hunt by living with their mothers for two years or more. "Cat" - a rather unfriendly, overweight tabby called, for lack of anything more creative, "Cat." Catches mice and generally vanishes for days at a time. "Ranza" - The middle child in the Cooper family, Ranza is a "hiccup" - a mixture of an old soul and an animal. While what her past incarnation was remains to be seen, she was once a parrot and comes complete with massive amounts of blue feathers. "Orli" - The youngest Cooper child, Orli came about after a star fell into a mysterious cabbage given to Eshaa by her boss. Since then, she has devoted her time to being the perfect example of how children should behave, as opposed to how they actually do, playing with model starfighters, and daydreaming.

 The Cooper family lives in an apartment building in Durem. Eshaa generally works at dig sites near Durem but is sometimes away for long periods of time. The building is a converted industrial warehouse some eight stories of loft-style apartments, two apartments to a floor, divided into three-bedroom one-bathroom/laundry one-kitchen/common area living areas. Eshaa and her children live on the fifth floor. Note to self: GET FLOOR PLAN

Nahuel Thinks: Tea's awesome! He lets me jump off the shelves! We played blocks and monsters and warriors an' lots of cool stuff. biggrin  Nahuel Thinks: Garrett's my best friend! He's got wings and can fly. We went camping in the orchard through the hole in the wall and it was pretty cool. We're going to be adventurers together! Nahuel thinks: Reese is a hero! An' she's nice! We danced! and then I saw her again at the pool with meanieface Belle who pushed Finn in the pool An' she saved him!  Nahuel thinks: Hana's cool. She had a frog! I hope we can see each other again. She was nice!Nahuel thinks: Eeyuck! What is she doing in this section? She's a meanieface girl who pushed Finn in the pool. But I got her back! I pushed her in, too! I really, really don't like her. >_<
