It had been awhile now since the group had taken their departure from the heavily folliaged jungle towards what he later found out to be Siku's blood homeland; the Pridelands. Being in a much wider, tree depraved area on meant that the little godling had to hide more, hide deep within his own skin and blend in with the mortals. Although normally he wouldn't find a disguise to meander around with; there were just too many unknowing, unseeing prideskin around, and he did not wish to answer the same questions everytime he met another.
Giving a soft sigh, he watched the somewhat high grasses flare up as his breath escaped his now temporarily white muzzle, an abnormally normal pair of blue eyes watched as it bent, but then with time it returned to it's original location. A soft grin broke the bored stoic maw, as he amused himself with the idea that it was being defiant with the big, bad - albeit still teenage - god. Truth be told, he had only learnt the true meaning of defiance only a short while back, when not only Janja, but also Jedi fled the flock. It was unknown why or where they left, but Mala could only assume it was for their own freedom. They had felt different before their grand depature.
Admittably.. he was starting to tire of staying in one place for so long...

Ekevu, unlike Mala, was not bored in any way, shape, or form. She had, at first, enjoyed the pridelands; they were wide, spacious, and open. It felt.. freeing, and empowering, really. It was fantastic, and new, and she relished every moment in her new found home.
That is, until Janja and Jedi had taken off. Then, things fell apart. Her mother had very slowly, as she saw it, gone insane; she kept apologizing for the tiniest things, and pulling away from any social interaction. It was slightly disturbing, but more so, infuriating. How could Janja and Jedi take off to let her deteriorate like this?! And father, too! He was just as hurt as mother was! And.. and they had just left, without a care in the world! Damn her sisters, damn them! In her mind, they were dead.
And good riddance! After all the promises of traveling together, she had been abandoned; tossed aside, like a scrap of bad meat. They hadn't even TOLD her they were leaving! It was infuriating, and maddening; enough to drive Kev to random bouts of anger, even at her one childhood friend. She had controlled it, but lately, this act was becoming harder and harder. The joy and excitement of the pridelands was gone; her mind was too far tainted with anger to love it anymore.
But, no, today was one of Ekevu's better days. She was in a reasonably good mood as she stalked the pridelands, muscles taught and focused, in hunt of the little godling she'd grown with. And, there he was, lying in the grasses and minding his own business. Ah, Mala, she had to admire her friend. He was always so carefree and happy, enjoying the entire prospect of being alive. And being kind of boring, admittedly.
This would have to be changed.
Tensing her body for a moment, Kev launched herself into a silent sprint, forcing herself into the air in an attempted pounce of her best friend.
"And the mighty lion closes in on the unknowing bird!" She narrated out loud, grinning wildly as she drew near Mala's resting form. It was just too easy!

It had been almost like lightning, the savannah had at one point stretched before his unnaturally coloured eyes, a limitless strip of possibilities snuffed by the inability to leave, and then, sudden rush - WOOSH!! - and a mighty force on his back. Honestly if he hadn't heard the jingle-like wording from her mouth, Jamala would have thought he had been attacked.
Although, this did not help in the end for the poor God as he uttered a sound - which to anyone outside of this little event would have called it 'somewhere between a cubbish squeek and a Lion's roar' - right as she impacted with his somewhat smaller body, the force of a fully grown lionness on him had shocked all his senses and sent his own magical forces into a haywire. He was not the best mage when he was caught in surprise - and a wave of black fur suddenly rippled down his nose, dance across his back and down his tail, turning from black to a shock white as it danced down, only to be replaced with the slowly shattering white pelt he had spent his day hidden in.
With nearly breakneck speed, he whipped his head around to peer at his captor, now mismatched eyes boring into her red hues with a piercing glance. It took his mind a few seconds to recognize her, pure terror melting into recognition, and then slowly into acknowledgement, defeat and a small sense of humour in it.
"You nearly scared the godliness right out of me Kev! I thought I was being attacked at first!" He exclaimed, giving a loud laugh, he attempted to twist himself around to look at her better, his 'form' still experiencing breaks in it, white splotches melding into black for moments before returning to their hiding.
It made him genuinely content to see his cubhood friend so content with everything today; her darkshines nearly invisible to the world, and a sense of overall happiness washed over her spirit, which was something he normally kept hold over in his mind. He couldn't help but want to konw how she felt, deep inside. A part of him knew he shouldn't be watching her emotions so well, those he could tap - justices, virtues and.. yes sometimes sin, but a deeper sense of him wanted to know everything about how she felt. Being his first true mortal friend, he couldn't help but worry. Or that's what he said.
Attempting to calm himself down, and forget about the sudden added weight, he gave her a grin, looking at her features for a short moment. "You seem in a grand mood today, dear friend."

Rather pleased with her capture of her new-found 'prey', a smug look remained plastered on her face as Kev kept her bird pinned firmly to the ground. Grinning widely, pleased with her own actions, she found it impossible not to laugh at Jamala's expression and actions. Poor boy; she really HAD scared him senseless! Pawing absent-mindedly at his mane, Kev nearly hummed as she spoke so proudly. Things like this definitely weren't good for her ego.
"It's a good thing I wasn't attacking you then, Mala, because that little noise certainly wouldn't have scared me off." She teased lightly, rather amused with the entire situation. Honestly, she'd expected Jamala to catch her in mid-air with a paw swipe and send her flying; not a very pleasant prospect, but the one she'd certainly been waiting for. Now? She had the complete opposite, with Jamala in her paws and at her mercy. Just the way it needed to be, too. Just because he was a god didn't mean he had more power than she did. Magical power, maybe, but that was plenty reason for her to stay in tip-top shape physically, and out do the god with her power and speed. (They'd honestly never discussed the matter, but in her mind, she was stronger and faster.)
She'd nearly burst into hysterical laughter at Mala's sputtering power; honestly, she'd had no idea that his disguise could be broken by a loss of concentration. Her eyes had momentarilly flickered over the wave of black that coursed his body, alight with the awe that struck her at this action. Still absent-mindedly fiddling his hair, Kev hummed lightly now at the sight. "You know, you really should've kept your fur black, Mala. I think it suits you much better." Normally, this would not have been the type of comment for Kev to make, but her mood was simply too great for it to be left unspoken. Why not, after all? It was certainly true, all things said and done.
As their eyes met once more, Kev's grin faded into a soft smile; Gods be praised, it was wonderful having a friend outside the family around. He could talk, and listen, and not be so biased to one sibling or the other; he simply was hers, and none of the others. Mala could agree on an obnoxious sibling, or an overly-strict parent, and was certainly more interesting conversation. She had no idea that the eyes watched over her emotions, as well; otherwise, she would have been far more precise in controlling them. No, today Mala was her normal, ordinary, run-of-the-mill friend.
"Grander than ever, Mala! I believe I have been inspired!" She said brightly, tail nearly wagging at her own excitement. Gods, if only he KNEW! "It struck me last night that, if such a thing as a waterfall might exist, then larger bodies of water must, as well! What if there was water larger than any we have ever seen before? Wouldn't that just be fantastiuc!" Closing her eyes, Kev tried to imagine such a thing, but found the task to be quite difficult. The mind, after all, has a great deal of difficulty imaging that which it cannot comprehend. Opening her eyes once more, she locked them into Mala's bi-colored ones.
"Do you know if such a place exists, Mala? If it does, we simply MUST go! It's prodigious!"

It took a few moments for the fogs of fear to completely clear out, which left him almost "groggy" for a few moments as he stared at his friend, listening to her with an somewhat blank look. During his daze, the words from his friend had been hazy and at times, he had to play them back, before understanding fully. After her first few sentances he finally nodded in responce, and gave her a sluggish retort, but the life in his eyes had set aflame once more, as if he knew what had just happened, finally.
"I-I guess I'll just have to be more careful next time, you've become much more swifter since we met!" he blurted out, smiling to get himself out of that little predictament. Deep down inside, he wasn't quite ready to admit that she had become much better than he, physically. It may have been the slight bit of pride that had filtered in due to his sister's influences, but his meekness kept from feeling too bad about it. "But, I'm not going o change my disguise quite yet, I worked hard for this particular shade of white.. Um.. Whenever it works." He added, his memory remembering a streak in his life where the colour had taken such a sweet, and yet sickening pink shade. She would have liked that, he mused, even if she had laughed harder than she had ever.
At the sound of his friend's sudden change of conversation, and lift in hope in her voice, his eyebrows rose, all signs of mental unclarity completely forgotten of. When she had an idea, it was usually a good, one that would alleviate the stress and boredome that the poor god had accumulate during their stay here. It wasn't her fault, he just wished there was more he could do. Thrusting his ears foreward, he listened intently to his friend's stroke of ingenious, before pausing and frowning softly, rolling his eyes backwards, trying to recall any memory of a larger body of water, beyond a waterfall.
"It.. has been awhile since I've seen anything remarkably momentus in the water department, truthfully." He answered, sending his gaze back to her softened red glance. "I wouldn't be able to point you to a direct location, but I do remember the smell of one nearby. It's very unique, always something you keep."
It only took him a moment before it dawned on him that she was really saying this, she was really telling im that she just wanted to up and move again, leave this boring 'home' and find adventure. But after a moment, realization dawned on him, and a worried look flushed over his odd shaded face, almost predicting the question that was to come. "It's a wonderful idea and all, Kev, I'd love to get out of here, but something tells me it would be without Kijibwa and Siku.. you are going to tell them, right?" He posed sensitively, knowing how she felt about her mother, recently. "I'd worry about hurting them only more."

Kev patiently watched and waited as Jamala overcame the shock of her attack, beaming proudly the entire time. He really was a funny being; so mortal in attitude and body, and yet.. so different from her, her family, everyone. His mind worked like everyone else's, and everything else did. (Minus the wings, but aside from that detail...) Sometimes, if she let her mind wander enough, Kev could completely forget he was a god. Instead, he was just Jamalapeponi, her white-furred friend. Nothing spectacular or fantastic about him. That, she decided, was the best part about his disguise.
As Mala spoke in response to her ideas, Kev listened and nodded along like a good child listening to her mother. Not that it was the case with HER, though; Siku hadn't really been on the strict side with rules. That is, until her sisters' disappearance. It took all of Kev's will power not to frown or growl at the thought, instead focusing entirely on Jamala. At the mention of his fur color, and not changing, she laughed heartily. "Alright, Mala, you win.. this round. But I will have you show your wings again one day. They're too nice to k-" pausing momentarily, Kev blinked and scrunched her nose in confusion. "Wait, wait, hang on. When it works..? Has it not worked before now, or something?" It was an interesting point to consider; she'd never thought about Jamala's other attempts at a mortal guise. Maybe he'd been like normal lions, then, and made mistakes..?
Shaken from her train of thought by Jamala's change in facial expression and tone, Kev's ears perked in excitement as he spoke. Listening intently, she nodded along once more. It was fine he didn't know the exact direction of one, but really, that was what made exploring so fun! Exploring... on the word, Kev's mind took over once more, thinking back to an expedition she and her sisters had once taken. Her memory blanked slightly.. hadn't they gone looking for water, too? Maybe it was a life long fascination.
"So you have seen it, then? The.. large water, that is to say. Everything that starts the falling waters, and rivers, and watering holes.. it exists! Prodigious!" She cried happily, nearly jumping on the word. Nothing had been this genuinely exciting in.. ages! Grinning from ear to ear, Kev poked a paw at his nose playfully. "It doesn't matter if we know the exact way, we can find it, Jamala! It'll be an adventure! It'll be wonderful, and fantastic, and incredible! Oh, if I could just see that..!"
At the mention of her mother, Kev quite literally flinched. Pulling herself off of Mala, she paced backwards, frowning slightly. That.... was the bigger issue here, wasn't it? Her parents. Yes, after Jedi and Janja's little.. disappearing act, (which she still bared her claws at the thought of, quite thankful she'd had the sense to get off the poor boy) they had become rather difficult to approach. Even asking to head just beyond their vision was nearly enough to set Siku off these days. Tail twitching in annoyance, Kev nearly growled out her response. "Of course it'd be without them, Jamala. The reason for leaving is to get AWAY from them. I'm old enough to take care of myself, after all. I could handle being a big girl, and being on my own." She spat slightly at this, partially turning away from Jamala.
"But, yes.. we'd tell them. I wouldn't be so horrible as to leave them without a goodbye, unlike SOME other lionesses. No, we'd.. we'd warn them, and promise to visit, and everything. It'd just be a getaway, for us, to get rid of some stress.. or something like that." She murmured, attempting to keep her temper down. She'd need to be even, to get anything out of her parents, anyway.

He literally had set himself up for that first question, his eyes widening only a slight bit before he bit back his tongue and rolled his saucer-like eyes, suddenly keeping his attention on a rock that was by his head as she watched over him - it was only until now that he remembered that a large female, fullgrown lioness had been laying on him, the weight almost sinking in once again. "It's a long story, consists of a younger me, that cheetah I told you about once before, the one I never caught the name of and a very uncomfortable shade of off-white." he answered, attempting to stay as vague as possible. Pride begot him a little at this time, as he attempted to stay away from the story for now. Sure she would learn of it, but he figured it would be when they were older lions, or.. well. When she was an older and more wise lion. Even if she could find a way to be wiser, seeing as she was already sharper than a tack now.
Mortality was something he hated thinking about. Banishing those thoughts for the time being, he turned back to watch her as the youthful excitement bubbled up within her, and only burst out as her attitude changed to one of sheer enjoyment. If he could peer into her mind physically, he imagined it would have been full of amazing ideas, spinning at sickeningly fast speeds with plots and devices shooting at what could only be imagined as light. But it made him smile when she suddenly explained her ideas, using the word she loved so much, "Prodigious." That always meant one thing: she was in a good mood, and thinking really hard. It was almost always a good thing, too, something as little as "What kind of bug you think this is?" became an adventure into biology and things that made his head spin. But that's what made life.. life. "Y-Yes, I've seen the beginning, the great waters. I'm sure we'll find it together." he answered tentatively, smiling.
Expecting an even greater mood from the lioness, his hopes were dispelled when his words finally took effect, almost kicking himself mentally when he noticed her mood, and face, fall at the mention of her parents. Oops, touchy subject. Lifting his body up from it's splayed position on the ground, his eyes following her new path, as she stopped a few inches away from him, a scowl replacing the kind and soft smiles, he could almost hear the cogs suddenly stopping due to a mental clog. He just HAD to go and open his big, honest, truthtalking mouth, didn't he.
Taking to his four paws, he attempted to circle from behind her, everything on his body perked high in curiousity, eyes still widened, but now in worry and fret instead of hurt pride. Hearing that she would atleast try to talk to her mother soothed him, only moments later, as he came to sit next to her, his teenage body just a tad smaller than her, but showing the severity and seriousness of an adult. He had grown fast, even if he knew he had centuries to continue to learn.
"I-I-I'm sure she'll be very.. relieved that you've shown enough maturity to atleast let her know that you'd like to make your own life, Kev. I would , if I were her. B-But I'm not. So we'll have to see, but I have hope." he answered her, unsure how to phrase it.

Still slightly infuriated over the mention of her family, Kev's ear flickered in annoyance at Mala's unwillingness to tell the story. What, was it really that bad, or something? Sulking over slightly, Kev nearly chewed her lip off to keep from making a bitter comment, deciding it poor-spirited to be ill-tempered at the friend who had been so close. It wasn't his fault that her sisters had left, or parents went miserable and sniveling, after all. Besides, he'd already been on the receiving end of her anger, many, many times. The least she could do was try to keep it under control now. Sighing softly, a genuine 'gosh-I'm-annoyed-but-I'll-attempt-happiness' eye roll thrown in, Kev daintily sat herself down and licked at a paw. "Ah, no, it's fine, Mala." That was a lie. "I'll get it out of you some day, you can count on it. It may not be today, or even tomorrow, but I WILL get that story out of you." And with that, she idly flicked her tail, sealing up the discussion on the matter.
Together. Should she look back, and more think on the word, Kev would have been greatly pleased with Mala's response. Together. It was such a simple, yet beautiful word that made her SO happy. Together was with someone, implying they cared enough not to leave you. Abandon you. Desert you. Yes, it was a wonderful word. But for now, no, her thoughts were clouded with anger and contempt. Her family! Oh, yes, they were the ones to ruin everything. Damn them! Things would have been so great, and perfect, if they hadn't left, and she hadn't gone insane, and he hadn't been miserable... muttering several curses under her breath, Kev's tail twitched once more. Gone was the prodigious, excited Kev who longed for adventure and excitement. Instead, in her place, was the Kev hardened by anger and loathing of her family. Glaring furiously at the ground (who had done nothing, if the ground got a say in this,) she nearly hissed. "Yes, together, Mala. That WAS the general idea of the plan."
Yes, family was a touchy subject for Kev. Kev, of cource, who had felt abandoned, betrayed, and then cast aside by her older siblings, who went off on a whim. Clawing into the ground slightly, she drew a deep breath, attempting to steady herself out. In, out, in, out. She couldn't get angry at Mala. No, it wasn't his fault. He didn't deserve her anger. Sure, yes, he had brought it up, but really.. it always came up at some point or the other. There were other lions, after all, and other species, who were likely to ask on her family's situation. And she couldn't snap at them all over their curioisities and small talk. Why, it was purely irrational.
Having Mala around to balance out her anger, and.. her sin, actually, had taken a great effect on her. He was the balancing force on every flaw to her being; her better half, her kinder side, anything one wanted to call him. And so what if she didn't have her sisters? They were probably miserable, anyway. And she had Mala, a GOD, which they didn't. Yes, it was all perfect, when she thought of how miserable the two very likely were. Smiling brightly, though a bit sadistic, Kev turned to the young god beside her with a gleam in her eyes.
"Wait here, Mala." This was spoken firmly. A command, not a question, favor, or suggestion. Raising up, Kev stretched herself slightly. "I'm going to go find my parents and speak to them, then we'll be off. It won't take long. You work on remembering which way that water is. That's where we're heading first." And with that, she took off in a blur of blue to the distance. It wouldn't be long, and they would be off. Their own adventure. One that was hers, and Mala's, with no family involved.
It would be perfect.

He had known that he stepped the boundary of conversation once again, watching his frend's mood only sour more with every attempt of his own, trying to turn the tide back towards the better ideas in life, so that she wouldn't have endure any personal musings. He hated watching her when she fell into this kind of mood, it was somewhat dark and kept him locked out of her emotions, anger and sins were noting he could understand fully, and normally felt very fuzzy and cold, like the sound you hear on the edge of your conscience after you hit your head on the ground too hard.
Shaking his head, he looked at her spite and grumble towards the ground, her voice only loud enough for him to barely catch the conversation she was throwing at him. He didn't want to feel miserable for the sudden change in mood, so he puffed himself up a bit to keep his attitude and feelings positive. If not for him, then definitally for Ekevu, who needed a friend to guide her more than she knew. "Ah, yes, ah-of course Kev, one day, I'll tell you that story, and of course together, I see no reason why I am to stay if you leave, as much as I like it here, I'd do better to stick around with you." Truth be told, he had formed an almost unnoticably strong bond towards the blue mortal, having been by her side since their fate-filled reunion on the outskirts of the jungle, where they had met whilst still little cubs.
His first friend, and his closest friend.
To him, she was his better half, she held the most intellegence between them, and was more swifter, she got things done and wouldn't stop if someone was in her way. It was just the Ekevu way of life. He hoped when this was said and done, that Ekevu would come back for a long time. Hopefully forever. Or well, her forever, that was, a statement and idea that he tended to keep away from his mind, something he had agreed was taboo until the days when it was apparent. No need to dwell on the future, he figured.
His train of thought came to a crashing halt when her voice broke the barrier once more, his eyes skipping up to meet her red hues, his teenage looks full of curiousity as he watched his older friend suddenly pick up with life, even if it wasn't exactly what he was expecting. "Wait here, Mala." was all she had to say, before his hardwired mind took over. Stay here. Be good. Loyalty, Chivalry, Faith. He rode high on Faith, most of the time. "Y-Yes Ekevu, I do as told," he mentioned immediately, as he mentally fastened himself to where he was.
He wouldn't move until she came back.
Deep down a sense of minor loneliness and worry started to creep over him as he watched her careen off towards where ever she had in mind.
