Sighing, the smaller framed mutant glared at the sunny skies above her, and rested her head against her legs as she lay under the shady tree. Things just hadn't felt right for a while, not after the confrontation she and her siblings had had with their parents only weeks earlier. She had been given the opportunity she had always wanted, to finally get rid of the mare who birthed her, and she had let it go.
Yawning, pink tipped feathers ruffled, and they once again moved up to brush away the hair blocking her vision. Long strands no doubt inherited from Father's messy appearance. And now, with more little ones on the way, no doubt they'd take after them as well.
Torment didn't know what to think... at first, she was beside herself with glee at the fact her mother would once again have to face the woes and despair of being fat and pregnant.. but Dia hadn't taken it in that way. Torment had only spotted her once after their fatal encounter, and Dia herself seemed to be the one raising the foals, not the mutant who had raised her. Had Plague not entered the scene when he had, Torment would have attempted to take back what she missed out on doing before.
So now the little ones were here, three of them, and Dia still alive and healthy. Torment's one goal in life had been given to her, and she turned it away. What next? She had been trained by her father with fighting and defensive skills... but what was the point of it all, without a purpose?

Anger was her close companion. It shadowed her, putting its stamp on everything she did. She was truly wrathful, a product of her father's lust, and her mother's pride. A foolish conceit. 'Mother' was a stranger, despite her genetic contribution. Vexation smiled, the expression grim and a oddly foreign on her lips. She spread her leathery wings wide, and vaulted into the sky. Thermals carried her up, and up, and as she spiraled, she looked down at the world below her. There was a dark splotch on the ground not too far away. A blot upon the earth with what looked to be wings. White, pink tipped feathered wings. Intrigued, the Kalona flew towards it. As she neared the thing, she realized that it was not, strictly speaking, an it. The creature, the being for which she had no name, was female. A mare like herself, yet with enough differences to make her seem alien. Her fascination, her curiosity grew, and she sped up her pace. Let her take just a few more wing beats, and she would be near enough to all but fall upon the other. She swooped down, and touched her hooves to the grassy ground, and folded her wings. Who, pray tell, was this? More importantly... what was she, this stranger mare?

Torment's head rose slowly at the arrival of the other being. Having seen the dark figure flying up in the sky only moments before, she wasn't surprised at the mare's presence, only puzzled as to why she would be any cause for the mare to stop. If this red and black mare thought her to be an afternoon meal, then she was in for a surprise of her own.
Her gray eyes studied the patterned kalona as her body began rising from the ground, her piercing red eyes staring back at her through streaked bangs. She had never seen such horns on a kalona's head before, but then again Torment knew she was no common beauty herself. Had she lacked the two long black kalona horns atop her own head, she could very well be considered an alicorn herself, such as her brother Taint sometimes was.
Silent, she kept her head raised as the other kalona continued staring at her.

Vexation laughed. She couldn't help herself. The mare was giving her a look which suggested that she'd grown extra horns. "Do I have four horns growing out of my forehead, or does that look you're giving me mean something else?" Normally, she would've added a lot of swear words into her speech, but they didn't seem necessary just now. Sobering, the Kalona took in the sight of Torment's "extra" horn, and her wings. "You know, you'd think from looking at you that you're a unikalona, but you don't look crazy. Or at least, you don't look as though you've got two personalities. Feel free to enlighten me if that is not true." She was bored. Bored, and curious, and just slightly amused by it all.

She snorted and shook her head, long strands of maroon hair falling to the ground."You seem to know more than I do about what I am."
Taking a step closer and out of the shade, she kept her gaze atop the other creature's head. "If it's wrong to admire such a... unique creature, then I will stop. Aside from my Mother, I have yet to see any kind of kalona in these lands."
The brief image of a blonde haired filly passed into her mind, and she shoved it away. Loveless didn't count... she hadn't seen that mare in forever. For all she knew, Loveless had gotten herself killed. It didn't matter anymore... did anything matter anymore?
"My personality doesn't appear to change; at least, not to my knowledge. I don't set aside the time to pay attention." Her striped legs paused as her tail gently moved with the breeze. "For what it's worth, I assume I'm to be labeled a mutant, just as my father is. I prefer to be known as Torment, aside from any breed labeling."
