It'd been so long...she had forgotten the aches that came with added weight. Giving a tired sigh, Setsumi placed her chin to the floor, her frame curled as comfortably as it could. Was this proof enough, durn it. For now, Setsumi had rested near the calm river. She had come out for a drink, only to realize that the trip back wouldn't be as motivated. The soft roots of a tree nearby had been enough of a comfort for her to rest on, and she'd been there for nearly an hour. Her body was acting up...and she was afraid the eggs would make a soon appearance. But being out here in such a state made her nervous, and last she had known, Darkfeather was still resting in HQ.

Resting was all well and good, but Darkfeather had to get out and about at some point. The first thing he thought to do was go out and fish, and fish he did. Setsumi would likely appreciate some fresh caught food... especially what with her added weight and all. He had coincidentally come to the same river, not far downstream. After making his catch and landing on the bank, he had caught her scent not too far off.
Now the crested Kitsu was padding up along the river bank with a large trout held in his jaws. When he spotted her bright plummage he made his way over and dropped the meal at her paws, "Here... this should give you some strength." After all.. her body was busy making eggs.. it had to be taking a lot out of her.

Eyes blinked when they spotted the red feathers around the bend. Heh, trust Darkfeather to be near wter, and with a successful catch. Setsumi smiled in his direction, waiting till he was near enough to speak with. Her tails curled around her belly in a self-conscious move.
She lifted off her side to her elbows, tilting a head at the fresh meal. "Thank you, perfect timing too." All the nutrients in that one fish would help her much. She didn't know why she felt so fatiqued; it's not like she hadn't done this before. Munching on the fish, she was careful not to scarf it all down too soon.

Seating himself next to her, he watched her eat as well as keeping a look out. Nobody better even think of approaching them in a hostile manner. That usual amused look came to Darkfeather's maw, "I guess I'm just that good. How are you feeling?" She looked well... worn out, from what he could see. But he wasn't a female, so it wasn't like he knew what she was going through.

The tail end of the fish was finished, though Setsumi coughed somewhat to Darkfeather's boasting. "Oh really?" Smug male he was. She raised a brow in amusement, before giving him the familiar kiss at his maw's end. "I guess so." Feathered ears teetered down, thinking over his question. "It feels so soon. My stomach is already acting funny." She turned away sheepishly. When she had her first batch, there was no one else present. Now with an audience, so to speak, she felt timid about the topic.

Darkfeather grinned at her reply, and kissed her back. He had to admit... it felt good again to have someone to stand by. To care for and look after. However, his ears lifted and he frowned lightly in concern at Setsumi's confession. "Do you need to go back?" he asked, not wanting her to be uncomfortable certainly. But if she felt that the eggs would be soon coming, then it would be better for her to have them in a place that wasn't so... out in the open. If she couldn't make it... they'd have to find a place nearby.

Go back? "I don't know if that's an option." She could try, though she may be sluggish. The HQ wasn't too far, and she wasn't sure about time. That was entirely up to the eggs. "But it's worth a shot." Even the corner of the main room would be better than out here. She didn't mind even being outdoor for the event, so long as she had something to corner against. Lifting herself up, she had to lean against Darkfeather to keep her balance. Only when she was set did she pull back, giving him a nod that she was ready to move out.

"Don't push yourself" he told her, holding steady as she used him to lean against while getting to her feet. Setsumi didn't need to strain herself before laying her eggs. Once she was ready, he nodded, "If you need to stop, then just say so." They could always find a little pocket somewhere if they really needed to. But out in the open... the eggs coule be exposed to all sorts of danger. He followed along at her side, ready to give his support should Setsumi need it.

"I don't plan to." It'd already be enough to look forward to in releasing the eggs. Padding slowly and tenderly, she headed back towards HQ. She just prayed it wasn't packed with kitsus on this day. "Trust me, if I stop, we're stopping." No real if, ands, or buts about it. She watched as her own feet moved forward, careful not to trip over roots or twigs. After some time passing, she was glad to see the cabin, just beyond some tree leaves.

Darkfeather chuckled and nodded, "Whatever you say" and that wasn't meant in an insulting manner. She knew best what to do, considering she was the mother and she had also done this before. He followed faithfully at her side, keeping watch over his mate and making sure she arrived safely. When they came upon the Realm HQ, he could see the relief in her eyes. It would be more comfortable for her here, he knew that much. He was there for her, should Setsumi need anything.

Finally, they were just in reach of the building. Setsumi sighed, before pushing aside the door on the side of the cabin. It was blocking her way. >__< Not caring to peek inside, she marched up to the nearest rug and nestled on its center. Her tails curled at the tips, waiting in a fidgety manner. The tightening in her tummy was picking a strong pace.

Helping to push open the door, Darkfeather followed Setsumi inside after she had entered. Once she had settled herself onto a rug, the crested male settled next to her, not really sure what to expect. "If you... need anything..." he said uncertainly, for he had no real clue what was going to happen next. This would be his first time as a father, but he was there... for whatever it was he needed to do.

Giving shorter breaths, Setsumi peeked around the room. Seemed like a small loft of sorts, with a bookshelf and single chair off to the corner. At least the door was shut. And it seemed that short walk was enough to spur up the process going on in her tummy. She winced while at the same moment giving Darkfeather a quick lick. "You can leave the room if you want..." That was his choice, however he'd like to experience this. Her claws started scratching at the rug, and she rested her head on her paws.

Leave the room if he wanted? He half expected her to kick him out. Darkfeather shook his head, "I'm fine" he said, giving his mate a reassuring nuzzle. He had every intention to stay right here and not leave Setsumi's side. He would be there incase she needed him. He was far too stubborn and loyal to just up and leave... unless she wanted him to.

Okay. Alright. She winced once more before burying her face in her paws. Her tails flared out behind her, as if trying their own to help. The feathers on her back bristled when she held her breath. Gasping out not much later, she turned her head to peek behind her. Hidden under her tails was a grey egg, wrapped in a blue design. Heh, there's one. And she already felt lighter.
