Fisk made his way through the forest, back to the clearing where he had met Vena four days earlier. It was a foggy morning. That had made crossing the water to this isle... interesting, to say the least. But he had made it, and he had an excellent sense of direction and tracking. He found the clearing and settled down under the same tree that Vena had been under when he spotted her orange coloring. The two spears he was carrying he leaned against the trunk of the tree.

Outwardly he relaxed while he waited for the other wolftaur to come; inwardly he was taut as a bowstring, though he didn't know why. Nothing made him nervous! What was going on?

To occupy himself he worked on sharpening the knife he had gotten from a hunter from his pack who had recently acquired a new one. This one was very plain and its blade was scratched and dull. But he could clean it up, re-wrap the handle, and sharpen the blade, and it would be good as new. The sound of his whetstone scraping against metal rang loudly through the quiet, foggy forest, and Fisk felt very strange realizing that Vena would not be able to hear it.

User ImageOrange paws moved silently across the forest floor, as the female wolftuar moved gracefully through the trees. Her tail wagged happily behind her, she was going to meet her friend again. It had been four days since she had Seen Fisk for the first time, and now Vena knew she'd see him again.

As she neared the clearing her bright blue eyes looked around, trying to make sure he wouldn't surprise her. Her ears stayed still as her head moved from side to side, there was no sense in her moving her ears, it wasn't like she could use them anyways.

Entering the clearing she cuahgt sight of the green wolftaur and at the moment, suddenly felt very......well.....she couldn't quite put a word on it, thought nervous of some sort and maybe a bit awkward were the best words she could come up with. Kicking herself mentally she padded over to him. "Hello." She called her voice soft as she moved.

Nearing him she realized that he had not only one spear for himself, but a second spear. A gentle smile spread across her face as she realized he cared. Looking at him she turned her head to the side, jsut for a second, then straightened again. There was something different about him this time, but she couldn't quite figure it out.

Fisk looked up eagerly at the greeting. "Hey!" He set his knife and whetstone down and got to his paws. "Good, we both made it. Bad day for all this fog." Standing in front of her he stopped for a moment and breathed in the sight. Even prettier than I remembered, he thought, eyes smiling. "Did you find your brother?"

Blue eyes sparkled as Fisk stood up. Since he stood before her, she had to tilt her head back so she could see his face, it seemed, he had grown taller as well. It was amazing what could happen within a few days. Smiling, Vena realized Fisk looked not only stronger, but more handsome then before.

"Yes," her voice sounded happy, "Tarik is doing well, he wishes sometime to meet you, since he has yet to meet another wolftaur other than myself. " she smiled. Then a light laugh escaped her mouth. Her tail wagged gently. "I told him I'd ask." She smirked, Knowing that he'd probably say yes, but hey she didn't know so she said she'd ask.

"How was your hunting and how is your family?" She asked, wondering what it was like to have an actual family instead of one made up of a cervitaur and a harpy, though she wasn't planning on telling Fisk yet about Kalpana. Mostly becuase she didn't know how he'd react to knowing she lived with a feathery bird-girl.

"That sounds great!" he said, his tail wagging too. "I'd love to meet him. I can't remember -- what kind of taur is he again?" Fisk knew he had seen Tarik when he was a kid, same time he had seen Vena, but he didn't remember him. He pictured him as looking something like Vena but without any distinct features.

At the mention of hunting, Fisk grinned. "It was very successful, if I do say so myself." He tossed his head jauntily as if trying to get his hair out of his face, but it didn't move very much and he didn't seem to care. "My pack was pleased. And my family's good too. My ma kept teasing me about coming back to meet up with you." Putting on a high-pitched voice he imitated his mother. "'Ooooooh Fisk, you have a laaaaady friend? Why don't you bring her here so we can all meet her? My little boy, all grown up and talking to ladies!'" He shook his head, laughing. "She's quite a character, Ma is.

"Oh! And I just remembered." He padded back to the tree and picked up one one of the spears he had left there. It was shorter and slimmer than his own. Smiling, he held it up to Vena and compared its height to hers with one eye closed. "I think this is a better fit, wouldn't you say?" He twirled it deftly and offered it to her.

Vena smiled happy that Fisk was in a good mood. "My brother? He's a cervitaur. Yes I"m part of an odd herd. Cervitaur and, well I'm not totally sure what race my little sister is but she's good too. Found her day before yesterday. She's good as well." She was sure the word was harpy but her mind couldn't seem to pull around the right word for it. Plus, Kalpana was there on and off, but she still considered her her younger sister.

At the sound of his successful hunting Vena beeamed with glee inside. She let out a very, very small giggle when she tried to flip his hair, though she gigle was only a second long. "That's good." She started to laugh when Fisk pretended to imitae his mother. "Meeting your pack sounds like an interesting idea, though I don't know how they'd react to my deafness, my pack reacted bad. But that was years ago, I hope others have learned from their mistake." She shook her head trying to get rid of the terrible thoughts in her head, then smiled. "Tarik did pretty much the same thing, though he tried to warn me about bad peoples. But you aren't a bad person." She knew this was true but heck, she couldn't help but ask, "You are aren't you?" Though the sly note in her voice and hte teasing look in her eyes told him that she was joking.

When handed the spear Vena took it in careful hands. Only to put a tight grip on it. "It fits much better thank you." She smiled wide. Taking a chance she remembered ehr practice she did with the stick she had found and started to slowly twirl the spear, careful to not hit herself, Fisk or to drop the spear as it moved. Once done a few twirls she placed the bottom end on the ground and held onto it. "I love it." She nodded to confirm her words, turning up her bright blue eyes to meet his lighter blue gaze.

He raised his eyebrows at the news. "A new sister? Congratulations!" He wasn't completely sure that congratulations was what he meant, but went with it nonetheless. "Maybe I could meet her too. What's her name?" In his own pack he tended to get along well with many of the children, and he liked to think that he was a bit of a father figure -- or perhaps a fun-loving uncle instead -- for some of them, teaching them things and taking them out in his boat once in a while.

The idea that he might be a bad person amused him, and he was glad Vena's brother was protective like that. Mischievously he grinned. "Better watch out. Under this handsome green exterior there lies a heart of pure black." He knocked on his chest with a fist. "Right in there, all hollow and evil." Then he shook his head and laughed, his eyes lingering on Vena for a moment before he turned to get the spear.

"Glad you like it," he said. "I fit the head on myself, just as carefully as I did my on own spear." He smiled, glowing with the simple pride of a job well done, rather than the extravagant, almost self-satirizing pride he usually displayed. "Even the other hunters in my pack said it shouldn't fall apart. And the balance is really good."

"My little sister says she's called Kalpana, so that's what we call her." Vena's voice spoke out cleary showing she didn't fully understand the girl she called her sister. "Sure you could meet her, though I don't know how you'd react. She's, well, very different." Not sure how to explain it since the name of her race escaped her mind. Though she didn't mind it really, no liing with a cervi and a feathery girl made life extremely interesting.

When he mentioned that he was a bad person, Vena decided it was time to play along. Taking the spear she twirled it and aimed for his neck, "Then I'll jsut have to kill you," she laughed an evil laugh, "Unless you can prove to me otehrwise." She wasn't actually going to kill him but hey, joking around was fun, though she wondered what would be his next move in this little game.

"Well you did a good job on the spear. I'd hate to kill it's creator. But knowing it'll stay together." She gave him a warming smile, more warming then the sweet one she normally wore. Only to have it disappear into her threatening grin. Though she kept the spear aimed well, though she made sure ti keep it close enough to seem real, but far enough away so she was clear of not harming him in any way. Though in her eyes showed a hint of mischief in them showing him she was playing.

Fisk was surprisingly calm for having a spear at his neck. He laughed lazily and raised an eyebrow, taking hold of the spearhead and resting it over his shoulder so it couldn't stab him. "Now, you wouldn't want to do that, would you?" he said, still playing along, leaning a bit closer to Vena. "If you kill me you'll never get to see the other thing I brought for you." He backed up a few steps while holding the spear, and when he was clear of it he leaned down to where he had put his knife and whetstone. He had been carrying them in an apparently empty leather bag which he took by a corner and upended over his palm. A small object fell into his hand. He quickly hid it in his fist.

Sauntering over to Vena again he pushed the spearhead back to his throat with a couple of fingers and held his fist out to the side. He gave a dramatic evil cackle. "Mwahaha! Decisions decisions!"

Then without warning he opened his hand -- nothing else moved, even his mock sneer. The object cradled in his large palm appeared to be something silver wrapped loosely in brown string. He closed his hand again and turned it over, maneuvering the object in his fingers until the silver thing dropped and he was holding it by the cord it was hanging on. It gleamed dimly in the gray morning light. A shadow of warmth showed through his 'evil' expression but he didn't move, waiting for her to continue the game or to drop it and see what he was holding.

Vena stood there in shock, unknowing of what to do to keep playing or to give in and see the next item. She smiled, "But if you're dead I can jsut take it from you. Decisions, decisions." She thought for a bit, "But you've been so kind, how could one so bad be so nice?" She asked in mock question, she was having way to much fun with this. Steping foreward she moved her hands up her spear shaft so that the spearhead stayed at his neck while she was now half the distance away from him than what she was at before.

"Now, what do we have here?" She asked, motioning at the silver item. She knew she'd probably have to give the game to get the item, but hey, it was fun as it was lasting. Or maybe this'll keep going. She was so glad noone could see them there. But hey, she didn't care too much about what otehrs thought, except about her deafness. Shaking her head mentally she looked back at the evil look on Fisk's face.

"No really, what is it?" her curiousity clearly taking over. Dropping the spear head she moved foreward so she could get a better look at the shiney silver thing. Looking up at him she cocked her head to the side, and gave him a curious innocent look. Then looked back at the item in his hand. She stood just before him so her arm wasn't long enough for her to just reach out and grab it, he could long manuver it out of the way before she stood a chance, her only way to get it was if he gave it to her. She didn't realize, but she had totally thrown the game before she wanted to know what she shiney thing was.

"Oh yeah... you could just kill me and take it." He shook his head and sighed resignedly. "I should have thought of that. Oh well, everyone makes mistakes." Letting go of the spear he closed his eyes and sniffed as if he was about to cry, having a hard time keeping his dramatic voice. "All right, I'm ready... Do it now, go ahead." When she didn't kill him, instead asking how he could be so nice, he opened his eyes again and smiled. "Ahh, now that's a good question. Are you sure I'm not just luring you into a trap by pretending to be nice?"

He could tell by the fact that she'd moved closer that she was curious, and he smirked knowing he had the upper hand. How long would she be able to wait? And then she gave up and put the spear down. He grinned and made a circular motion with his wrist so that the object swung around and the cord wrapped around his hand. "Aha, you made your choice." Still grinning, he lowered his hand and offered it to her, his stance relaxing. "Good choice, too. Here you go."

The object was a tiny sculpture of a paw print, and though it could have used some polishing it appeared to be made of real silver. On the back there was a symbol that looked like a triangle with no right side. The cord was long enough that this was clearly a necklace of some kind.

Fisk felt the strange nervousness returning; their game had covered it up, but now it was back in full force and his face darkened with heat. "I found it on the ground at home and was cleaning it up, and when my sister saw me she smacked me and took it back and yelled at me for stealing. But then she changed her mind. She said... uhm." He rubbed the back of his neck and smiled anxiously. "She said I should give it to you, so I am."

Vena gingerly took the beautiful trinket. She looked at with eyes that showed so much affection, though with that came a full blow, it was an uneasy feeling. Like there was something there she couldn't place. Looking up at him she smiled, though the smile seemed unusal, her eyes gave away her affection, though it also showed nerviousness. Taking the cord she placed the necklace around her neck. The paw-shaped necklace hung nicely around her neck. Picking it up with one hand she looked at it her bright blue eyes focusing. Then shifting up to meet his pale blue gaze.

"I...I don't know what to say." Her smile widened. She let the necklace fall against her chest. Then took at step foreward and gave him a nice hug. "So all I can say is thank you so much." She sure hoped she didn't jsut scare the hell out of him, but she felt like she had to hug him. Like an unusal pulling that she didn't know exsisted. So right now she jsut prayed he wouldn't pull away, she was never known to do anything unexpected, though this, was defenately unexpected.

It was as if her acceptance of his gesture had unlocked some hidden reservation and he lightly returned her hug and laughed, relieved that he was suddenly less nervous. He said, "You're welcome," but he didn't say any more because he knew she wasn't looking at his face. So, he reflected, it was a good idea to listen to his sister after all. Pleasant surprise. When he next went home he would have to apologize for making fun of her.

Vena felt more relaxed when the hug was returned and held him for a minute or two. After that time she released him slowly and took a step back, rejusting the spear in her hand to a more comfortable position. Looking on last time at her new necklace that laid nicely around her neck she looked at him, "So now what?" She asked in a joking manner. She really had no idea so she hoped he'd come up with something.

Her tail wagged a bit to show the fact she was truely happy, and her bright blue eyes showed the affection that she was trying to hide from Fisk.
((Sunglasses, might help LoL.))She shifted ehr weight to the other side as she waited for his response, she had a nice feeling inside her, man, she was just glad he did come back. So he was different, and she mean that in a very good way.

"Now..." Abruptly Fisk whirled around and within an instant his spear clacked against hers as if blocking a blow, but froze in place before much power was transferred -- her spear barely even moved. His grin had a wildness to it and his eyes were lit with excitement. "How about we play with weapons?" he said innocently.

Then he laughed and spun his spear back into an easy position in both hands. "If you want to, that is. Maybe we could do some of that spear hunting that we talked about last time. Oh and I got a knife, did you see?" He went to fetch it and held it out to her proudly. "I'm cleaning it up. Should work a lot better than trying to use my spear's blade." That was how he ended up burning himself last time while preparing the pheasant, he recalled. His eagerness was palpable, and he hardly remembered to notice whether or not she was interested in the knife and the hunting.
