Denise watched as the frog hopped from lilypad to lilypad. She rolled her eyes as it slipped off and fell with a splash into the water. How usual. She flipped her long hair over her shoulders and walked along the grass, her paws going slow. Denise could take as long as she wanted to go home, after all she was still too stubborn to admit that Asha was beginning to grow on her.
She rose her head and the gold band on her head with the brown jewel in the middle glinted in the sunshine. Denise shook her head, stopping finally and sitting down. Her tail swished back and forth as she stared straight ahead. She promptly then turned around and walked in the opposite direction. She was not going home yet, not at all. She was going to do some things outside first.
Now she was angry and she didn't even know why she was angry. Denise wasn't sure what was with her today but she had felt more grumpy and irritated than normal. Her tail flicked back and forth, seemingly angry like her mood was. Oh sure she haven't gotten much sleep the night before but not like that mattered. She could just sleep later. She stalked through the trees, eyes narrowing at them. She finally stopped in front of an oak tree.

Indra stretched lazily and yawned. He was out on his (almost) daily walk, and was enjoying the late summer sun on his fur. Finally stopping at a large oak tree with low branches, he jumped up into them and made himself comfortable. He was almost asleep when something glinted at him from the ground.
Looking down he saw a rather irritated looking Minya stalk up to the tree. Indra debated with himself on whether or not to say something about his presence there- or to hope she'd go away on her own so he could finish his nap. Finally deciding to let things happen as they would, Indra tucked up his tail and got comfortable again, wondering if the other minya would notice him.

She flopped down on the grass, her tail curling around her body. Her head fell forward onto her front paws. Denise sighed, her eyes slipping shut. Her head hurt, that was all she needed now. She opened her eyes quickly, her long ears perking up. Her tail lifted cautiously, her head rose as she looked around. Her eyes moved from left to right, looking for any trace of a presence.
She could of sworn she heard a rustling of some sort but perhaps not? No she definately did hear something, she couldn't be wrong. Denise rose to her paws, her head craning to look some more. Finally she turned and her eyes rose to the tree branches. She stepped back. Blue stood out compared to the greens and browns of the tree. An eyebrow rose. She frowned.

Indra peeked through his eyelashes. He was spotted, there was no helping his nap now. He rolled over onto his back, thankfully that the branch was large and wide. He hung his head off the branch upsidown, staring at the other minya, a brown-furred girl with lots of curly hair. His tail flicked back and forth.
"Hi."

A minya. Denise tilted her head, watching him warily. She felt cautious, he was up high and she was down so low. Denise would much rather be up high, safer that way. She had never thought of climbing up a tree before, she had always laid on the ground. But then she always went home to her owner, her owner didn't exactly had places where she could climb up.
She looked over her paws, yes she had claws so she could climb up but then she didn't really want to climb up any time soon. Denise stared up the minya, too much blue. "Hello." She paused. She sat down, her tail coiling around her body defensefully, her eyes narrowed as she watched for any signs of him jumping down on the ground. "Is it nice up there?" Ugh, pathetic attempt at being nice as well as trying to start up a conversation.

"Yea, its nice- havent you ever climbed a tree before?" Indra was still lazily sprawled out on the branch, knowing he should probably change positions to something more fitting for a conversation, but feeling no desire to move anything but his tail.
Indra also noticed the way the other minya was tensed on the ground, in an almost defensive and definitely rigid position. Hoping to ease her mind he grinned a goofy smile down at her. "My names Indra!"

"No. Should I have climbed a tree before?" It looked strange to her, climbing a tree. But perhaps that was a place where she should of slept instead of in a comfortable bed or the rug in her owner's home. She never learnt anything else, but perhaps this was how wild minya lived. Would she have the instincts? Perhaps.
She blinked, taken aback at the goofy smile. Why was it that she always met ones that were friendly? It would be better, she would think, to meet another that was rude. At least then she would not feel as guilty when she took off. "I am Denise." She replied, her tail flicked about. She rose to her four paws, walking close to the tree. Denise reached up and touched the tree with a paw. "Is it a usual thing for a minya to be in a tree?"

"I dunno. I guess its not like, required or anything." Indra shrugged. Or at least, he attempted too. To anyone else, it came off as an odd twitch, which in turn set him off balance. Yelping, he turned quickly and grabbed at the branch frantically, finally managing to right himself once more.
Blushing a slight shade of purple, he looked down sheepishly at Denise. "I guess its usual if your not clumsy like I am..."

Denise stared at the tree again. Well in that case she was against climbing the tree. With her luck her hair would end up getting tangled in some way or after she was done with the tree she would not be able to get down or, which was the worst, she'd fall off. She eyed the blue Minya again, frowning when she saw the odd twitch? How strange.
She stepped back, eyes widening before she shook her head. Denise stared as he had almost fell off. Her heart beat rapidly in her chest. Sure she did not know him much yet, she still did not want him to get hurt. "I definately am not clumsy like you are. But why do you go up the tree if you could fall off?" He may find it fun to climb trees but for her, it seemed foolish.

"Oh!" Indra righted himself on the tree branch, this time right side up. "I'm not normally clumsy... I was just making a joke. I shouldnt have tried to shrug." Figuring it was silly to carry on a conversation where Denise's neck would cramp up, Indra jumped down from the tree, landing about a foot from her.
"Trees are a nice place to nap, or relax, or if you dont want to be found their nice too."

A joke. She frowned, disliking the fact that she could not distinguish what a joke was. Denise backed up warily when he landed near her. It was better when he was up the tree she supposed, at least he was farther away. "Not want to be found...." She repeated, murmuring to herself.
That climbing could allow for her to blend in and be away from others. Perhaps, she looked over the tree, climbing would not be so bad after all. Her brown eyes shifted back to him, watching to see what else he did. She hoped no more acts of behaviour that turned out to be just a joke, she felt pathetic when she didn't understand things.

Noticing the shift in Denise's attitude, Indra tilted his head to the side. She seemed so serious! Not wanting to alienate her, Indra figured he'd better cut out the jokes. He sat down on his haunches. "If you'd like to try climbing, I can stay and give you some tips?"

Her mouth fell open a little at his words. Climbing? Her? Oh sure she was still doing her plan of trying new things and getting out of her shell but climbing? No way. Just...no. "Fine." Wait, what did she say? Great now she'd have to do it. He better teach her well because if she fell.....no she wouldn't fall. She couldn't.
"When I attempt this activity, you will stay here." She said, firmly. "If I fall, you will be the one to cushion me. Fine with you? Though I doubt I'll fall off, only those who are foolish do that." Of course he was the one with the choice, but Denise was secretly hoping he would stay.

"Of course I'll stay here! I did say I would teach you." He smiled at her. Denise was a little stand offish in nature, but he could see that she was nice in there somewhere.
He turned and faced the tree. "There are two ways you can do this... the first one is jumping. It only works when the branches are low enough though." Using his backlegs, he jumped up at the branch, catching it with his claws and using his momentum, swung himself up on the branch. Indra then jumped back down.
"The second way is using your claws to grip the tree and climbing up. Its what you probably want to try." Digging his claws into the bark of the tree, he shimmied his way up to the branch.
Joining her on the ground once more he smiled. "Ready to try?"

She was glad that he was staying, even if she'd never ever admit that. This was a first attempt, first attempts weren't always so graceful. She watched, quietly, as he demonstrated the two ways to accomplish the act of climbing a tree. Well the first was not climbing, obviously, as jumping and climbing were two different things. Getting unto a tree, then.
The jumping way seemed difficult, perhaps easier for the males but for females like her, most likely not as much. She might make it but, the jumping she did tended to be onto areas that were much lower than that tree branch. Her head rose, brown eyes taking in the tree branches that seemed so far off. Jumping was definitely out until she felt capable of jumping that high.
The other way, climbing naturally with claws seemed just as difficult but it was also the way she felt most sure that she might make it up to the lowest possible branch. Only one way to find out. She disliked all of this trying new things, but she supposed it was the only way to understand everything around her. She'd try it, who knows she might not make a complete fool of herself.
"Yes." Ready as she'd ever be. Denise stared hard at the tree, creeping slowly near it. Reaching the large trunk, she rose one paw and then the other, resting them lightly on the trunk. The bark was hard on her paws, digging in at certain places of her fur. Retracting her claws, they dug into the tree bark. One front paw moved up and then the other until her back paws were ready to join her front paws on the bark.
She followed his method, shimmying upwards, albeit more slowly than he did. One paw, then the next, then another, and then finally the last. All this hair she had was frustrating, as it fell continuously in front of her and getting in the way of her climbing the tree. Denise tossed the long hair back again, feeling irritated by it all. "Almost, almost there." She didn't notice her muttered chanting of those words, her mind too concentrated upon the climbing task. "It's not too hard." She called down to Indra.
