Kaede winced and curled up as tight as she could manage with her bulging stomach, she felt the familiar pain that had come upon her just as it had when she had her first little of cubs. The jackal lioness whined softly, gritting her teeth, it wasn't as bad as the first time she had to admit, but it was hard ever still.

She was alone, Goma had gone somewhere, perhaps it was alright, though she was still worried, what would they look like, what would he say, would he know? Kaede knew she made a mistake when she met that rogue "lion" many moons ago, she was deceived, and she felt guilt in her heart.

Though she knew, hoped, prayed, Goma would still stand by her, she loved him so much.

New cubs would be along soon, here, and with little Isilo, a rogue seemed to have "tricked her" as well, though Isilo was much more upbeat then she, Kaede's daughter seemed to have gotten so much stronger.

"Its time..." she murmured, pain flooding her veins, soon a small yellow pelted mass had been moved to lay between her paws as she cleaned the tiny wriggling cub, a daughter, another daughter, what to name her?

Naming would have to take place later.

Placing her new born daughter, the eldest of this litter, at her side another pain came, another form, another cleaning, and another daughter, a smile crossed her maw as Kaede cooed softly to her new children at her side.

What would Goma say when he came home?

Another pain, another form, not as bright as the yellow pelted sisters, not as pastel as her youngest daughter from this litter, a boy, a son, Kaede had another son.

What would Pam think, say?

Deep brown, almost hazel tanned, she smiled, one final pain, one final form, and another brightly colored boy lay at her side wriggling with his siblings.

Two boys, two girls.

A bigger family now.

The pink might bring up questions, though they could...could be throwbacks from Goma after all, though Kaede never remembered seeing the color of the male "rogue's" pelt.

A larger family, Kaede was so proud.

Goma bounded around outside after the glimpse of his mate's belly a little earlier. He didn't seem to notice it during her time, but it became too obvious for any fool to know what is going to happen. He had no idea when it had happen, he could not remember much really, but he knew he shared many nights beside his beloved mate and one night had already produced a good group of little cubs already. Had he done it again without even knowing it!? Could have? Possibly... yes, it had to be true! He was a king! A lion of royalty, he had to pass on his genes and his love and his kindness! Especially with a queen such as his mate, Kaede.

The entire day he had been running all around to tell strangers and all that he was going to be a father. Weird as it was, he was already one to start with but he was too estatic to really care. He had caught Pam lazing around that morning and gave him strict orders to gather the sisters. Unfortunate for the only son to do the task alone, but he had to return to Kaede soon. Her belly was as large as it was before! She was due soon. He paused from his run.

"Wait, what am I doing? She is in labor! I should be there!" doubling back quickly, he rushed back to the den, almost tripping over a meerkat that he had just told about his great fortunate not more than a moment ago.

He stops short of the den and quickly gives himself a look over, cleaning up dirt and cleaning his fur in a swift gesture. Messy still, but better than being dirty than before. Goma enters the den slowly to find that he was too late to the birthing and that the lives were already free from their mother's womb. He smiles as he nears and comes to his mate's side.

"Forgive, Kaede, I did not notice sooner. And for not being here for such an event... I just sent Pam off to the find the girls so they should be coming shortly... Oh, they look absolutely wonderful!" He mewed, nuzzling and licking her to calm her from her efforts. Alone she had bore them, though he wished he had witnessed it. Looking them all over quietly, he noticed that they had a wide range of colors unlike the first litter the two had created.

"Interesting... more boys, hope the girls won't be too upset about it."

Kaede heard Goma approach from the den's entrance, green hues rose up to settle upon his form and she gulped as he neared closer She loved him so, she could never tell him, he would run away hate her, hate his children too because they were hers. It'd be her secret, it had to be, look at him, he was such a loving mate and father, she loved him dearly, didn't want him to hurt and feel pain.

Almost purring in her throat she nuzzled Goma's cheek, gave him a tired smile, "Don't worry love I'm fine, and I think the girls will be okay, Pam should be happy," baby brothers for Pam, how wonderful.

"Look at the colors love, surely they must be from your side of the family, so wonderful don't you think?"

Names, what of names?

Pam looked at them all and leaned against her. He let out a long sigh of happiness and watched them with admiration. New lives, new family-a larger family, new cubs and new faces to remember. He could not help but give constant licks to his mate for her hardwork. She may say she was fine, but she was tired, exhausted. He knew from experience from the first time how that left her.

"The girls will be alright, I hope, they should have made nice dens by now. Pam's been hanging out around here, he hasn't established his territory yet. That may be a problem... or a blessing for us, he can watch the cubs! Yes, that is what he will do and on his spare time, find himself his own mate and bring more cubs to the family!" he laughed heartfully as he looked down to the cubs beautiful faces, their soft whimperings.

"They could be, I could not tell you. Remember?" he paused. He couldn't remember further than the day that he was found by Kaede and retold his life. He had no other choice but to believe her, she was all he had. He had implicit faith in her, he trusted that she had the same for him. He slide a paw over one and smiled.

"Asidi... this color is rather strange... I'm red and this is a rather bright color, don't you think?"

He had a name stuck in his head from one of the strangers he had met. It was a rather casual conversation until he could not contain himself. However, he did manage to get their name.

"Lets name one... Khana. That's a good one, right?"

The eldest daughter in question gave a small whine against the chill her moist fur exposed her to. Wriggling as all newborns tended to do, she found herself at her mother's side, latching on to the first source of food that she was able to find, suckling rather greedily while pawing feebly with her left paw. Her ears were all but glued shut, as were her eyes. The only things she was aware of were temperatures and surfaces. The ground, her mother's fur, her parent's and sibling's body heat, those were the only things making any sense to her just yet.

"Yes, I remember," she said lovingly, adoring the licks Goma placed upon her, "A perfect name for him," she said, peeking down at Asidi, quite bright yes, though he'd be easy to find if he ever ran off. "Khana, I love the name Goma, which though hmm," her eyes fell on her eldest daughter as she placed a small lick on her eldest's brow, "This is Khana then, such a beautiful name for her," she said beaming.

Her cubs were all so lovely.

"Tsehni," she said softly, nuzzling the pale yellow colored daughter that seemed just as bright as her brother, "Her color is so bright too Goma, and hmm, what about you sweety," she said softly pering at her other born son, what name for him.

How about..Makuu Goma, is that a fine name for your other son?"

The wriggly red ball of fuzz stopped moving around when he felt a paw brush by him, making him the last born but the first to be named. He squeaked feebly, and did his best to pull himself closer to the warmth of his mother and siblings' sides. Once happy with his position, he was content to leech himself onto his mother's side and feed.

The dark son lay on his side, twitching and shivering as he experience life outside for the first time. It was... cold, and hard, and uncomfortable! This was no fun at all!

He gave a whine of protest as he wiggled about, demanding to have the warmth and comfort back. And he wanted it now! His demanding cries grew more strident and louder, bordering on the irritating. Well, one thing could be said about the newly dubbed Makuu... he had good, strong, healthy lungs on him, and a budding personality to match his name.

Goma smiled and plucked Makuu from the group and placed him closer to his siblings and, more importantly, food. He was slowly taking in the names and faces of the cubs that he just accidently and unwittingly produced. At least, in his mind's belief. Four wonderful cubs, four wonderful new members. He had hoped that his memories would return to share more stories with them and maybe a way to turn them all back into lions and return to their kingdom from faraway. That would be simply perfect... but this had nothing on that. It was just one of those moments.

"Asidi... Khana... Makuu... and Tsehni..." he murmured, looking down at the four once more. He seemed to beam in pride and happiness as he licked his mate once more.

"Now, where in Pride Lands' name is that little trouble maker and his dear sisters? He is quick on his feet and would get a task done instantly so he could get back to his lazing... what is taking him so long?" he murmured, looking outside. He was wanting to see his precious family again, this time in whole. However, it was going to be difficult to rein them all into this den of theirs.

Goma chuckled jokingly, "But I wanted to name my son Khana!"

Kaede laughed and nudged Goma with her nose, "Hush, hush, love its alright, and no, Khana is Khana now," she said tiredly, laying her head upon her paws, looking at her children once again. Their family was bigger now, so many little lions would be running through the grasses of the pridelands now, and it made her smile and feel warm on the inside.

"Come and rest with me for a while Goma, please? The others are fine," she tried to reassure him. They would see their other children later, no doubt, no doubt about that at all.

Goma looked outside as a last attempt to see if the others would magically appear there and enter, rejuvenating Kaede's awareness and stay away just a little longer. He sighed as no one, not even Pam who seemed to always be around, showed up. With a shrug and a lick, he laid himself closer to her, resting his head down just enough around her body to see the little cubs. Girls and boys, better than the last litter with just a single boy and that one turned out to be a sort of freeloader.

"Alright, you win. The cubs will be alright, Pam should return shortly..." with a slight yawn, he laid his head down, not entirely sleepy but more so to comfort his mate into rest.

Makuu protested as he was moved, his wobbly head lifted as he was set down. Still crying, he squirmed over the ground to be closer to the great big warmth nearby. It felt like Mother... His little nose poked at her fur, searching for comfort and his first meal in this life. His short little tail wiggled against his backside, and only when his mouth was full did his crys stop and he settled in to fill his belly.
