Snow sat on a park bench reading her advanced Calculs textbook, while looking more than a little annoyed as she muttered under her breath. All truth be told, she would much rather run off somewhere... like a party... or a Karakoke bar... or something. Something that wasn't work. Besides, she knew all of the useless junk in this book, and half of it was wrong. Their ideas of calculations were clearly wrong. She couldn't believe that they would let this sort of thing be published! There were far easier ways of doing this. So she let out a horrendous groan and swung back on the bench, balencing the book on her nose.
"This is lame..." She muttered aloud, thinking in her head about the gravity ratios required to keep the book balanced. Too much work again. She needed to do something fun before she became a total shut in. So, with that she tossed the book over her shoulder into a bush and fluttered her wings, jumping up and taking a deep breath. After a few seconds holding in as much air as she could, she threw her arms open and cried out, in a very Brave-heart'esk manner, "FREEEEEDOOOOOOMMMM!" All that did was startle a few birds behind her, but none-the-less, she felt better.
Much better. The only question now was... what should she do?

Vin had been alarmingly servile, gently bouncing against the walls of Xaga's apartment like a butterfly against a windowscreen whenever ve was refused some sort of task. Xaga was naturally independent, and Vin was naturally slavish. It hadn't gone well. Five days after collecting the androgyne, Xaga had taught Vin enough about the world to entrust ver with a simple enough outside-the-house task. The child looked to be about eleven, a good age for such things.
"Vin, I need you to go out and get some milk and eggs."
She had given Vin the money, and Vin had fled into the cool autumn air. Ve liked the taste of the humid wind, the light breeze that always felt like it should be heavier. Autumn was a novel season, ve had decided.
Ve was getting quite used to the weather and vis solitude, enough so that ve was almost dancing, turning and mincing vis steps in time with a tribal beat ve could feel in vis bones.
So absorbed was ve in the beat and the care of delicate eggs, ve had no idea what had happened when ve heard a shriek that frightened ver out of vis skin.
Ve whirled in the direction the shout had come from, still painstakingly careful with the milk and eggs. Frowning a little bit, vis curiosity warred with vis natural servile skittishness. Curious won out, and ve approached the source of the sound.
Ve was even more surprised than when ve heard the scream when ve realized that the source of the sound was a young female Breeder with enormous, intricate, gorgeous butterfly wings. Ve stared, entranced.

Snow merely groaned, stretching out as far as she could, reaching her hands out towards the sky. Maybe if she went home and pretended she had done all of her homework, Alice would be nice and buy her that new CD she wanted. A little less than a week outside, but the two were already close. Snow had managed to latch onto most of her father's characteristics. His fun-loving party way of life, but Snow had a few things to offer of her own.
She didn't notice Vin until ve had wandered somewhere into her basic sightlines. She almost immediatly stopped in her stretching and looked over, her head tilting slightly, "Oh... I didn't..." she paused, considering what to say to the other child near her.
Nothing, exactly, came to mind.
"Sorry," she mentioned, hopping down from the park bench, clasping her hands just behind her back, underneith her huge wings, "I didn't mean to startle you." Another Terra. She could feel it almost instinctavly. Plus, scientificly, even on the outside, the butterfly-girl could calculate that this was no ordinary specimine she was dealing with. So she smiled, her bright wings fluttering, "I didn't mean to scare you. With the screaming, and the yelling... and the me doing it..." she shook her head, disliking where she was leading the conversation already, so she swapped to, "My name is Snow."

{{Lol, Vin isn't a Breeder. I use the term Breeder to mean any human that can have children. It should say Terra where you wrote Breeder. But I'll ignore until you have time to edit.}}
Vin pulled vis head down and closed vis eyes when ve was addressed, pretending that ve was invisible. Eventually, the girl would realize what she was talking to and fall silent, send Vin away. Vin hated conversation, hated being treated like the equal ve was not. Ve existed to serve, and everyone seemed unable to understand that!
Vis eyes flicked open as the girl introduced herself. Ve flicked vis gaze to Snow's wings and hair, to her eyes, and came to the conclusion that the name was a very, very silly one.
"This one is called Vin," ve said gently, keeping blue-hazel eyes downcast. "Forgive this one's presumption, but you do not look like the sort to be named after freezing-time."
She should be called Leaf! She was the fiery colours of autumn, and she blazed with the same sort of energy. But Vin had already far overstepped vis boundaries by speaking so out of turn, and wouldn't dare speak so bluntly again. Ve wished ve could retract that speech, but there was no escape from this one. So ve held the milk and eggs and prayed that Snow would realize that Ve was doing work and release ver from her presence.

((Thanks lol *edits*))
Snow blinked and reached back, tugging on her wing for a second before she laughed, tilting her head to the side, "Yeah, I know. Snow isn't really the right word for me, is it? But my father, my adopted father, he likes people who have names that don't seem to suit them. His name is Alice you see, a girl's name," she giggled a little, "But Vin is a very cute name, I think it does you quite a bit of justice." She fluttered over beside Vin, getting a closer look at vin.
"Oh... You have things to do!" She mentioned, noticing the milk and eggs, smiling a little, "I'm sorry, but would it be alright if I walked back with you? I don't have anything to do, and I was bored up until right now. And besides... This is the first time I've ever seen another Terra!"
Well, met one anyway.

Vin listened politely as Snow promptly began to ramble. And there she went. Without meaning to, Snow had already stumbled into the one subject that upset Vin more than anything else: gender-appropriateness. A girl's name. Vin was three letters, more a sound than a name. Not short for anything, not a nickname. Just Vin. Nothing to indicate gender or rank. Vin looked studiously at vis milk and eggs while the winged girl spoke, trying to sink away into verself.
For a moment, ve looked up, a glimmer of hope in vis eyes as Snow recognized that ve had chores to do. But then the hope was gone, and Vin had no choice but to nod resignedly. "Of course," ve murmured glancing down at the calculus book Snow had dropped. It was much too complicated for Vin, who had thus far resisted literacy, insisting it was inappropriate for vis status.
"Shall this one carry the book as well?" ve suggested meekly. If Snow was to accompany ver, ve would at least make verself useful.

Snow was picking up that Vin didn't seem to like her very much... at least she didn't think the other Terra did, "Oh... no, it's okay, I'm retarded for throwing it anyway. It isn't a very nice thing to do to a book. It's not like it did anything to me," she sighed and picked it up, "Want me to carry anything? I could probably help you out if you want Vin!"
Still, when it came to names, Snow seemed to love saying Vin's. She had a way of giving life even to the mundane that way. It was part of her charm, or so Alice always said to her. She couldn't help it, she genuinly liked to like people, and she liked it when people liked her back too.

Vin flinched when Snow chirped vis name, hating verself for even giving it out. Ve wasn't worthy of all the attention that ve was getting, and Snow seemed strangely insistent on 'helping.'
It was an awkward situation to be in, one born to serve being asked if ve needed help in vis task. "No, thank you very much, though," Vin answered softly, deciding that perhaps if ve was polite and nice, in a sort of mirror of Snow's outgoing manner, that Snow would go away. Perhaps reverse psychology worked better for the strange Breeders Vin encountered than did vis carefully obvious hints. Nobody seemed to understand what ve was playing at.
And with a brief nod to the girl, ve set off down the street, back toward vis house and the breeder who insisted on treating ver as an equal.

Snow was quiet for a little while, observing Vin before she finally came up with her answers to thoughtful questions. No specific gender signs. Vin seemed to show no sign of being male or female, nor did ve accept any help from her. That made her curious, as Snow generally was. She had to ask, even though it might be rude.
"Vin... you don't have a gender, do you?" She asked, with a straight and honestly curious face on for once instead of her usual excited one.

Vin paused in vis walking and looked over at Snow, blinking a few times at the question. Ve tilted vis head to one side, considering how to answer. For a moment, one side of vis mouth quirked up in what might have been a smile. Finally, someone seemed to understand vis androgyny, and vis place in the world. "No," ve answered softly. "This one has no gender." Ve glanced at the sky, and then down at vis milk and eggs. "This one is a Nonbreeder, bred to serve." Ve shrugged, open and not upset at all at vis low social standing. It was a pretty basic fact of life for ver.
Then, with a shake and a shrug of vis shoulders, ve set off down the street like nothing at all had happened. The autumn weather was still infectiously lovely, and ve found verself wondering about Snow. The girl seemed perceptive, bright, and a little too canny to be human. And there were those wings.
"Pardon this one for asking such a thing, but are you part butterfly, then?" ve asked, blue-hazel eyes momentarily alight with curiosity and focused on Snow's face instead of downcast.

Bred to serve? Oh... I think I get it now... Snow thought to herself, and then she nodded, "Yes, I am part butterfly, really my original species was more like a butterfly with human-like characteristics and size, but as a Terra, I seem to have taken on more human-like qualitities than my original kind," she kept thinking about Vin.
Nonbreeders... a slave breed then? That would explain all the resistance and the will of... a wet noodle, was all she could think of. Vin would want to be ordered around, not helped. Wierd, as far as Snow was concenered, but interesting from a genetical point of view, to have a species that actually wanted to do was they were asked. A little too masochistic for someone like Snow.

Ve hadn't known that butterflies were so much more intelligent than humans, for that could be the only reason Snow seemed advanced beyond her years. Vin listened and didn't really understand what Snow was saying, which ve put down to ignorance on vis part, because obviously it made sense to Snow, which could only mean that Vin was dreadfully behind.
Ve didn't really know how to continue the conversation, and, in all honesty, ve had no desire to. Ve tilted vis head up at the sky and wondered briefly how much longer Snow was going to tag along. Ve had chores to do, and as much as Snow seemed polite and nice, ve didn't want polite and nice. Ve was not on the same level as Snow, and Snow need not insist that ve was.
The silence was getting uncomfortable. Vin began to wonder if Snow was waiting on ver to continue the conversation.
"Autumn," ve said eventually, looking at a tree as they passed it. "Leaves changing. Temperature is falling." Ve wondered how Snow would take the coming winter. For all her name implied, she was still part insect. Insects died in the cold.

Snow blinked, snapping out of her dream-like state and nodding, "Ah, yes... I'm not all that fond of the cold. I should hope you wouldn't be either." She had decided to try a little... how could she put it? Social experiment, she supposed her father would call it, "Vin, I would like you to carry my book until we reach your house." She did not say it with such force that it was an order, per say, but it was not a request either. It was more like she expected Vin to do exactly as she had asked.
Which was pretty much what she expected. If ve didn't though, it would be equally as interesting. Would that mean that mixing different blood had impeded Vin's ability to do as his genetic code ordered vin to? Oh, this was all a very interesting little theory.

"Cold is fine for this one...at least, it should not be much of a problem." To be honest, Vin didn't really know. Cold winds were objectionable, but ve had discovered warm clothes, and it didn't seem to be much of a problem. All in all, ve seriously doubted that cold would be that much of an issue.
Wait, was that an order? Vis eyes lit up when Snow spoke and gave ver a specific request, not technically an explicit command, but so close as to be almost the same anyway, so it didn't matter. Ve bowed low and rearranged the eggs and milk in vis arms so that ve could take the book from Snow. Vis pace increased slightly and grew lighter, almost like a horse anxious to move forward or a sled dog ready to start pulling. As soon as ve had a task, ve knew vis place and everything became lighter.
"Of course," ve said, not exactly happy but with a sort of reverence mixed with adoration that always upset vis guardian. Xaga didn't like it when Vin fawned over anyone. And that was almost what Vin was doing now. Fawning.

Ah! I thought so. Vin is a slave race! Snow smiled, "Excellent. Now," she spoke with more conviction, "we're going to stop by at my house before you go to yours, and you will drop off my book, just like you should, right?" This was all too much fun! A real slave race, she had only read about them and never actually seen one. A race that actually wanted to be ordered around.
Way, way too much fun. Too good to be true, even. Though she wouldn't abuse her new knowledge, of course... she would merely find convienient ways to use Vin to her own advantage. Her father would probably be proud. She could even trick Vin's mother, likely, into letting Vin come over to 'play' with her...
