Mortal Academy History The world was created in the combat that left the moon crippled in the sky. A fight with her bright brother, Solaris, left her diminished, her light forever to be silvered. But in thier combat for the skies, the world was created. Life as known was created. Solaris was not without compassion, nor did his sister, Lunaris, lust for revenge. Once their combat was over, they turned to watch over the world, watching as the first lives took their breathes, as the first heart beat began, and guided them towards thier light. As time wore on, some became creatures of darkness, some of light, some of evil, some of good. After this division of creatures occured though, a third entity became aware. New creatures arose, in the waters, in the mountains, in the flames, in amongst those who existed already, something was gifted. Within each of these beings, they were given abilities. The peoples called this new entity, Celestial. The three entities watched over the budding peoples, watching them grow, flourish, fight, and mostly, just live. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ The world had dozens of races, some with a tiny popluation and unknown to others, some as widespread and populous as the elves or the humans. Most stay within thier own territory, some intermingle among others. There is only one place, just one, where all races, no matter which light they face, where everyone is welcome. Where the gifts that Celestial had given them was trained, from telepathy, to magic, to empathy, to the gastly abilty of nercromancy. No matter what you were, you were welcome at the Mortal Academy. It had stood for hundreds of years, growing and shrinking, expanding and teaching. From the time of its founding, over a millenia ago, it was the only unchanging thing. It always held its doors open to any, even when war was brought to its gates. Once inside the gates and its vast territories, however, those who entered abided by its rules. No one else's

Rules No god moding. It is dumb and pointless. Literate Roleplayers only. No chatspeak tolerated. Profiles aren't needed, but make it clear in your first few post what you look like, what you are, your age, etc. The Headmaster is a NPC that is used only by Truedarkhero (aka me) so unless you can play him according to the character portrayed, don't do it. You can be a student already attending, one arriving. If you want to be a teacher, PM me with what you want to teach, and what your character is. That's it for now.

The gates opened to her as she approached them. She looked over to see that the dragon who'd given her a ride already flying away, heading for its orginal destination a bit farther north. Looking back to the gates, she eyed them carefully, before making her way into territory. She was never sure why a school had so much land. She couldn't even see the Academy complex.
*Welcome, to Mortal Acedemy, Young'in.* the voice boomed in her head as she finally managed to spot the Main Hall from here. It was a legendary structure, known to all people, and only seen by the rare few who actually attended the school. Last she heard, there were only a few thousand students attending actively.
"It is good to see someone from Mt Leeran willing to come." The voice she'd heard in her head came from the older, fit male of some species she didn't immediately recognise. He looked human, but had just a touch of otherness to him.
"That remains to be seen, Headmaster." She whispered. Though her voice was soft, it still felt like a rumble. "Whether I stay or not is my decision." She could see a centaur, a few humans, a small coven of elves, and what looked like a pixie from where she stood.
"If you'll douse your flames, you can come inside and have your temporary classes assigned for you." He turned to head for the main building. Her next words stopped him.
"I can't."
"Why not?" He sputtered.
"The reason is that the people of Mt Leeran are fire elementals. We are as you see me now, beings of fire. To extinguish our flames is to commit suicide." She didn't smile. "Still interested in enrolling me?"
"We'll figure something out." The Headmaster said with a wave of his hand. "If we can teach dragons, we can teach you. We just have to figure out how. Come on. I think we'll make the except to the no shoes rule for you." He said as he glanced at her volcanic stone sandles.
"Wise." She said before following him.

Holy crum... Is that the new student...? Tovi watched the exchange between a fire elemental and the Headmaster, biting his lip. He ran a hand through his shoulder-length black hair, toying with one of the bright teal streaks that ran through it. Sighing, his soft grey-blue eyes gazed hopefully over the interaction down the hall. Maybe someone at this school will actually be friends with me... His bare foot rubbed against the floor nervously. Glancing around at the gathering of other students, his cheeks turned faintly pink and he wrapped his cape around his bare chest, as if it would shield him from anyone who bothered to look at him.
Under the black cape, Tovi drummed his fingers against his smooth, toned stomach, one fingertip lighting on fire and gently illuminating the teal lining. Looking over the message his mother had scrawled across the fabric in Sharpie, he followed the directions. Deep breaths, Greg. Deep breaths.
The Headmaster started leading the fire girl elsewhere, and Tovi bit down hard on his lip. I'm sick of this... Get some damned courage, Greg Farrell Tovi. Get some damned courage. Determined to at least let the new student know he existed, he peeked two fingers from behind the dark fabric that protected him and a light breeze was sent to brush by her. There... he thought, somewhat satisfied that he at least made an effort.

She was about to follow the headmaster into the building when her hair flickered, growing longer for a brief moment as a breeze swirled around her. She stopped, knowing the breeze was created and looked around. Her fiery gaze swept the ground, dismissing the pixie and the elves. Centaurs tended to fear fire, thier equinie nature fostered that fear. Her eyes fell on a caped figure, the teal in his hair making her tilt her head.
After studying him for a long moment, she smiled and sent a small ember to him. It floated in the breeze for a moment, hovering in front of him. Though she turned away and followed the headmaster into the building, the flame formed a blank face, which then smiled at him before twirling into non existance, leaving a small fire opal behind.
"Now, not much is known about your people, hense not knowing that you were an elemental. How is it that you shelter yourself?" The headmaster said.
"In volcanic caverns, or in the magma streams." She replied. "A room of rock will suffice. I can create what I need to survive." She wasn't here for the basics. She may not be as versed as some of the elders, but she was no puppy.
"I'll see what we can do. Is there anything we can do for you in the mean time, to make you comfortable?" she resisted the urge to sigh.
"Leave me to my own devices. I can care for myself. I am here to inquire about lessons." She stated.
"We'll have to spell a course book so you can look over what we offer." He smiled. "Why not go meet that youngster you flicked a flame at." She smiled and bowed respectfully. "I may not be your age, but I am not blind. Try not to set the grass on fire."
She headed back out the building to the front lawn.

Tovi's breath caught in his throat as the fire elemental's gaze fell on him. 'Um,' was all he could even think, cheeks turning crimson. But she surprised him by smiling and sending an ember over to him. He watched it burn in front of him, smiling back at the face it formed, and caught the fire opal it faded into. 'That went surprisingly well.' He bit his lip even as a smirk crept across his slender features. Letting his cape go to flow freely around his tall frame, he slipped the opal in his pocket and hooked his spindly thumbs in the waistband of his black pants.
The flame girl stepped back out after talking to the Headmaster, and Tovi's cheeks turned pink. His pearly teeth gripped his lower lip mercilessly. 'Now to see what's coming to me...'

((hey sorry it'll be a few minutes, we're transferring an RP outta email to open it up. We'll post with you then kay? sorry about that))
She smirked as the grass around her withered a bit at her heat. She didn't mean to do so, but the breeze from earlier had heated her to that point. She wondered if the area was prone to winds. If it was, she might just set the school on fire.
Well, she probably would at some point, she was a hot head and idiots made her lose her temper, which usually ends up with someone or something on fire, but still, a strong wind would do it by accident.
She puffed a few emberlets at the boy, the small, tiny flames spiralling around him before snuffing out. She would have extended her hand, but touching anyone who wasn't a fire elemental tended to result in melted limbs. A friend of those of Mt Leeran said that anyone who wanted to should go swim in the lave pits.

Tovi watched the embers swirl about him. The fire girl hadn't said anything, but Tovi usually wasn't one to start conversations... at all... He waited until the embers had died out before he tilted his head to the side. A faint blush tinted his cheeks as he spoke. "Is that your way of offering a handshake?" he asked quietly, hooking his hair behind his ear. "You won't have to worry about that with me..." His arm turned to a column of flame and he offered it to her to shake. The red hue across his slender face worsened as he realized how bold he was being. 'To someone I don't even know, too...' Giving up, he smiled shyly at the fire elemental and spoke again. "My name's Tovi. Greg Tovi." His bare foot toyed with the ground nervously, as if waiting for him to say something stupid so he could run. "What's yours?"

She looked at his arm before smiling. She still didn't take it. "Trust me, flames are like cold water compared to me." she stretched, and noticed the elves staring at her nude form. She set one of them on fire. "I'm Brasa, fire elemental from Mt Leeran."

Tovi extinguished his arm and let it fall to his side, slightly embarrassed. He almost didn't notice the elf lighting on fire not too far away - he was a little busy staring at the ground. As Brasa introduced herself, however, he looked up with another shy smile. "Nice to meet you, Brasa." Twirling a bit of hair around one finger, he watched her curiously. "What classes do you plan on taking?" he asked for sake of filling space. He bit his lip nervously, awaiting her answer.

She shrugged. "Haven't looked at the course book." She held up a hand, which was deepening to a ruby red. "Can't touch it yet and I'm the first of my tribe to come." She looked at the ground before shrugging and dropping to the ground. Instantly a circle of grass turned to ash and blew away. The earth blackened and turned into a baked crust.
"What about you? How long you been here?"

Tovi nodded slightly as Brasa explained a bit. Watching the earth crisp beneath her, he took a seat on the edge of the burnt circle. "I've been here a year..." he said, pulling his knees up to his chest and resting his chin on them. "I'm an elemental changeling," he added, smiling softly. "I read somewhere that someone described us as 'carefree as the wind, gentle as a stream, stable as the earth, and passionate as a fire'. But I'm not sure if I'm all those things." Blushing, he laughed nervously. "My mom says I'm mentally unstable." Chuckling a bit, he toyed with a small stream of water, swirling it in the air.

"My tribe has heard of people like you. Though you may be fragile, you'd be free to walk on Mt Leeran." She kicked off her stone sandals, and they landed at the edge of the baked ground. "In my langauge, you'd be called Ande S läkt, or spirit kin. In our beliefs, it makes you kin to us, and therefore, you have a place among us." She flicked another flame at the elf and smiled as his hair caught fire. "Stop staring. Incourtesy will earn you melted skin." She shouted at the male.
"Your mother makes it seem as though the mental realm is at all stable. She would probably declare most of my tribe insane."
