Chuakari was back in her home, and was out for a walk and relishing in just how welcoming the lands felt. Even visiting her own coalition lands didn't make her feel quite the same as being here, there was not nearly as much to worry about here, she had her family, her job... she missed Uri and Sawia, but Uri had promised to come and visit. She was still giddy thinking about Uri having his own little family and seeing them when they came to visit her.
There wasn't anyone really needing a Nanny right now, and she had been a little delayed in making her return known, so Kari was happy to have some free time to herself to take a look around. Part of her wished that Hasidi had come with her, but she was OK being a little more independant.

With Huruma out with Ihlo and her other daughters off on their own adventures or bonding with Harabu, Amani once more had a little bit of time to herself. At the moment, she was lying beneath her favorite tree, ironically the tree her daughters were born beneath. She was just about to fall into a light doze, enjoying the calm around her only faintly stirred by a chance breeze, when she saw... No, it couldn't... But how often were cheetahs pink like that?
She stood and walked slowly over to the other female, pausing in her stride for a moment to simply ask, "Kari??"

It was hard to miss the white and blue lioness resting beneath the tree, but Kari did not recognize Amani, and normally would not wish to disturb a strange and so she was content to just leave her be. After a couple seconds of thought, Kari realized there was something familiar about her- and when she glanced back for a second look, Amani was already up and walking over.
Immediately, the cheetah froze and stared.
"Amani?" she called back, surprising herself at how easy it was to recall the name. It shouldn't have been so surprising, though. Amani had been Kari's first friend.

Amani grinned and all but ran the rest of the way to her friend. It seemed like it had been a lifetime since she had last seen Kari, and in all actuality, it had. She and Harabu had started a new life here in the Kusini lands and had forgotten the past. But Amani had not forgotten her friends.
She stopped in front of Kari and looked her up and down. "Well, you've sure grown since I last saw you, but I could never mistake that heart," she said, still smiling as she lightly touched Kari's mark with her nose. "How long have you been here?"

Kari was delighted once it was confirmed that it was in fact Amani that she was seeing, and her expression showed it. She'd grown up and calmed down a lot since she'd last seen the lioness, but part of Kari would always be the insecure and excitable cub she'd been back then.
"You've grown up as well," Kari pointed out, nodding as she looked over Amani- who'd always been bigger than her, and was even now that they were both adults. But cheetahs generally were smaller than lions, and Kari was fairly small for a cheetah.
"I've been here quite awhile now, I think," she murmured thoughtfully, trying to remember just how long it had been. She and Hasidi had come back this way from the ocean when she was pregnant, and that didn't seem all that long ago. "I didn't know you lived here, but then, I haven't met too many of the lions here," Kari admitted sadly, though she kept the smile on her face.

"I guess I have. But I'll never be as big as my Harabu," Amani replied and sat down, smiling at her friend. It was nice to know that she had someone here that she could more-or-less bond with, someone she knew. "I don't know anyone, really, either, but for my mate, two of his children, and our children. And you, of course," she added, unable to stop smiling. She wondered what Kari had done in the time of Amani's life that was now just a blank page in her story.
"It seems so long ago when we played back in the Pridelands. How have you been doing since?"

Kari was pleased to have an old friend of her's in the pride, it made her a little more comfortable despite having been allowed to join by the King and even given the special job of watching over the youth since she wasn't so great at hunting. She was about to ask about Harabu, when Amani gave a satisfactory explanation of who he was- the mention of her having a mate and children made Kari beam happily.
"You have a family? You must tell me all about them," Kari said brightly, and then smiled sheepishly at being asked about herself, "Things have been up and down, but things are happy now- I live here with my mate and cubs as well."

Amani smiled when she asked about her family. "Well, Harabu's a big black lion with red markings on his hind end and a red mane. We have four daughters, Nurisha, Umbia, Huruma, and Idubencane, all still cubs. And Harabu has three adult children, two of which I am acquainted. Ihlo is a white lioness often seen with my second eldest Huruma, and Tota is a red lion with a white mane," she explained trying to describe her semi-odd family. It was still a little hard, remembering how Harabu had... She shook the thoughts away. Everything was good now, and she had a female roughly her age to spend time with. Girl talk.
"What about you? What are your mate and cubs like?" she asked, smiling over the fact that they were both moms. Oh, it had been long since that day in the Pridelands.

Chuakari listened intently to thedescription of Amani's family, noting how her mate sounded like he was quite opposite her in color and laughing mentally at it. She tried to keep track of all the names and descriptions, but only one seemed to stand out as familiar- but she couldn't quite remember which one. Of course her son Tafasuri had mentioned making a friend, Nurisha, but Kari didn't quite realize this yet.
"They sound wonderful," she commented, beaming when asked about her own family, "W-well- my mate is a lion, actually." The cheetah blushed a bit, and managed to fight the urge to look down. She knew she didn't need to worry about what Amani thought, she was her friend- and Kari found this pride very accepting of her and her family. It was out of old habit that she had any inclination to worry about how this was thought of.
"Hasidi is a couple beautiful shades of red, kind of earthy colors," she explained brightly, "We have three sons, Tafasuri, Mhuni and Najisi, and one daughter, Nakupenda. They're an interesting bunch." Kari held back commenting on just what a cheetah-lion cub looked like, though she figured if Amani was skeptical to existance of hybrids she might have to comment. However, she was very happy.
