It was a bright and cheery morning in Pallet Town - the perfect day to start a Pokemon journey. Mimi Kouyama would be one of many young trainers starting on such a journey that day. She had even made sure to arrive the day before, so she wouldn't be late and would get a good Pokemon. Luckily, Mimi's aunt lived in Pallet Town and let her stay the night.
The warm rays of sun shone brightly through the spare bedroom's window and directly on Mimi's sleeping form. She stirred in her sleep and rolled over to face the window directly above her bed. Slowly her eyes opened and a faint smile appeared on her face, as if she had just woken up from a good dream. And she had - a dream about her upcoming Pokemon journey, which was about to start. Quickly, she pulled herself out of bed and got dressed, packing her things gradually in between. Once she washed up, brushed her teeth and was dressed and packed, she tied her hair up in its usual style with a thin red ribbon. Then she headed downstairs where her aunt was already up and waiting for her.
"Good morning, Aunt Kaoru!" Mimi greeted her aunt with a warm smile, joining her at the table which already had breakfast laid out upon it. "Thanks for letting me stay the night. I really appreciate," she said as she helped herself to some toast.
"Don't worry about it deary. You can come and stay with me anytime you like," Kaoru replied. Mimi's aunt Kaoru was her father's older sister. As such, she was a much older woman of almost sixty-five years. She lived in Pallet Town with her husband for as long as they'd been married. Mimi didn't get to visit her aunt and uncle very often. In fact, this was only the fourth time she'd ever been to their house in her entire life. And unfortunately, it was only for the night.
Mimi quickly ate the rest of her breakfast, since she was running out of time and didn't want to be late. She thanked her aunt once more for her generosity before grabbing her things and heading out the door. "Bye Aunt Kaoru! I'll be sure to write!"
Mimi's aunt lived a bit out of the way from Prof. Oak's laboratory, so she had quite a walk ahead of her. But it was such a nice day, she didn't mind. In fact, there was a noticeable bounce in her step the whole way. And the bright smile on her face was a good sign that she wasn't bothered at all by it.
When she finally reached the lab, there were already a couple of trainers there with their parents and other relatives seeing them off. Mimi hoped that she hadn't missed the good Pokemon already. Though there were only a few trainers, there was a good crowd of people around Prof. Oak. Mimi had to squeeze her way through just to get to them. After pushing herself to the front, Prof. Oak recognized her almost immediately.
"Ah, Mimi! Good to see you made it here safely. How was your trip from Celadon?" he asked.
"A little long, but I came in last night and stayed with my aunt. It was really nice to see her," she replied.
Prof. Oak nodded. "Good, good, glad to hear it. Now about your Pokemon...if you'll come with me inside the lab, I'll get you all set up."
Mimi followed Prof. Oak through the front gate and into the laboratory/home. By now, the crowd was already dying down out front as the other trainers set off. Prof. Oak took Mimi through the house portion of the place into a very lab-like room that seemed to be made almost entirely of metal, with computers and other electronic gizmos everywhere. In the center of the room was a round machine with a glass cover on top. Prof. Oak opened it to reveal a surface with pokeballs resting in indented spaces. He picked one up and turned around and gave it to Mimi.
"As you requested, I have found a suitable Pokemon for you," he said. Mimi took the ball in her hand and opened it, releasing a Bulbasaur between the two of them. Bulbasaur looked up at its new trainer and smiled happily.
"He's quite friendly and energetic. Much like you. I'm sure you too will get along just fine," Prof. Oak explained.
"Oh, thank you Professor! He's perfect!" Mimi exclaimed as she knelt down and pet her new Pokemon's head. Prof. Oak went over to a desk in the back and retrieved some items for Mimi.
"These are you Pokedex and five pokeballs to get you started. You're all registered as a trainer now and are free to start your journey." Mimi took the Pokedex and pokeballs and placed them in her bag. She was ready to go immediately. She called Bulbasaur backed to its pokeball and placed that in her bag as well. Thanking the Prof. one last time, she left the lab and headed back down the path that would lead straight out of Pallet Town.

Hideki loathed coming to Pallet Town. Not because he hated the place but he had to take a ride with his brother Nori, on his Fearow. On the entire way there Hideki and Nori were fighting about random things that would pop in their heads. One would say something and the other would disagree and the whole thing would turn into a grudge match. It was surprising though their struggles Fearow didn't drop them from the sky. The worst part in Hideki's case was that he had to hold on to his brother. His mother ordered him to and his brother mocked about how gross it was to be in contact. Both brothers would bicker and snap. Hideki spoke in anger to his brother as they continued to fly.
"Are we almost there?" He said rolling his eyes. They were both tired and drained from fighting and yelling so much. So the intensity dropped but just by a little bit.
"No… Hideki why do you have to be in so patient?" Nori said in a tone that annoyed Hideki and made him respond rudely.
"Well if I didn't have to hold on to you! I probably wouldn't be so impatient! It's disgusting to even be facing you, let alone be in contact!" His voice started to rise as he spoke more.
"Don't you have that sass with me! May I remind you that I am older and that I wasn't the one who came up with the idea of taking you, like I really want all your germs on my back. Once I get home I'm planning on using some disinfect." Hideki was at snapping point and wondered, if he had jump now, how long it would take to hit the ground. Hideki was totally drained and it was getting late. They had taken off late and he doubted that the professor was still seeing trainers at this time. The rest of the way there they were basically quite until the hit the ground. Nori looked around at Pallet Town; it looked like he was taking in old memories. He rubbed Fearow's neck and got off after Hideki did. He took in a deep sigh Hideki was relieved that he wasn't holding onto his brother anymore. Everything was dark night had already fallen, the only light source there was from house windows.
"I told you we had to come earlier or it would be too late!" Hideki said glaring at his brother who was getting back on his pokemon.
"Well I guess that's your problem now isn't it." Nori said as Fearow started to flap his wings. He planned on leaving Hideki there in the dark with nothing but a map and his pokemon. He waved and soon become a speck in the sky, Hideki walked away angry and quiet. Luckily he was near the Pokemon Center; he talked to Nurse Joy. She smiled and stated that there was a spare room for him to stay at. He nodded and went to the bedroom and instantly fell asleep on the bed.
It was the next day and Hideki was slightly refreshed. This was Hideki's first time being in Pallet Town and it wasn't a pleasurable visit. He didn't get much sleep, he was slightly nervous; he had never met Professor Oak before. So today was going to be his first and he wondered what he was like. His brother Takahiro always talked about him like some God. He sounded intimidating, but he also heard that Oak was a gentle caring person. It didn't dwell on Hideki in the morning. He didn't really know where the lab was so he had to use a map given to him by his mother. While searching for his way Aki was by his side following calmly. It took him a long time to just to find the lab; it was a good thing that Hideki had received his pokemon from his father. Or he might've never gotten one, it was almost empty there. Only a few of his aids were there and they were busy working as expected. It took a while till anyone even noticed Hideki was standing there at all; he stayed quiet the whole time. Oak greeted him and Hideki responded respectfully; he was only polite to adults. If you ever notice it you would think he was two faced, which he is.
"You must be Hideki Kudo… your father told me you were wanting a pokedex, am I correct?" Oak said with a sincere smile across his aged face. At first Hideki almost made the reaction of surprise. He didn't know whether his father knew he had left the house. He only told his mother and brothers, he didn't think it would interest his father at all. So he didn't bother with informing everyone. He also wondered whether Professor Oak had any connections to his dad. After a minute or two Hideki realized that he was just as the others had said; he was a simple kind man who's interested lied in the study of pokemon. Hideki tried to muster a smile upon his frozen face but failed for he never did. Instead he nodded even though he wanted to say something.
"I see well then here you go." He said with the same comfortable smile. He's arm was extended out a pokedex and Hideki took it and placed in his pocket. He lowered his head in a small bow and then thanked Professor Oak and then left after he got five pokeballs from one of the aids.
He left the lab and Aki stood at his side, she was a being a bit impatient. She had walked with Hideki all day and saw nothing interesting. In other words she was extremely bored and wanted to do something. At first he had many doubts on whether being a coordinator. Hideki now, has no more doubts; he figured it's was to late now. They already started why not finish and make something happen.
Hideki had gotten lost again and finally was at the exit of Pallet Town. He t hen spoke to his Vulpix.
"Let's go and grow stronger." He said looking down at large eyes and nodded.
Vulpix was excited that she would be able to something other then walk around. She was itching for some action and possibly looking for a fight. Of course Hideki had the same ambition and wanted to get some pokemon under his belt and get some experience points for Aki. They then walked out of Pallet Town and into Route 1.

Aisumaru yawned, opening his navy-blue curtains and allowing the warm sunlight of Pallet Town to seep into his room. He stuck his head out the window, watching Flora tend to a small bed of cyclamens, a warm breeze gently caressing his silvery-blue hair. There was the faintest trace of a smile on his lips, before his gaze moved on to the lake, where Horsea and Shellder were playfully squirting water about, and Magikarp jumped out of the water, each landing with a faint splash. Aisumaru sighed, it would be hard to leave the place he called home for the past three years, the rather empty-seeming three-room house his parents had left him.
He went into the bathroom connected to his room, taking a quick shower before getting dressed in his normal attire and gently brushing the knots out of his gently gleaming silver hair, parting it to his left. He took his time brushing his teeth, after all, it could be a considerable amount of time before he had running water once more. With swift, fluid movements, he ran down the staircase, skipping every other step. Aisumaru's pale, cold eyes glanced at the backpack he had prepared for travel the night before, mentally going through a checklist and remembering the moment he put each in. He nodded softly in approval, and headed toward the kitchen. He had learned to be independent over the years, and made himself an omelet and some toast with a glass of orange juice.
By the time he had finished his breakfast, Flora had finished tending to the small garden, and had brought in a rather large "vine-ful" of the cyclamens. The bright red flowers were laid gently on the table, Flora beginning her breakfast of the special, bitter pokefood Aisumaru had made especially for her. Aisumaru finished his breakfast and washed the dishes while Flora continued eating slowly, yet hungrily. After all, Flora was not the type to choke on her food. Aisumaru set to work, splitting the cyclamens into three piles, each tied with a thin red ribbon with a small tag bearing "AN" in small, well formed black letters.
Nodding in approval, Aisumaru returned to the living room and put on his backpack, making sure that the Town map he had found left there by his father of the region-lying neatly next to the maps of Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh-was safely in the backpack, as was the pokedex he had received from Professor Oak when he had first started studying pokemon eating habits and care under him. Sure that he was completely ready, he washed and dried Flora's now empty food bowl and added it into his bag. He then picked up an egg container, the egg inside which he was currently bent on hatching despite its odd coloring, the hot pink egg with the paler pink heart on it was quite a contrast to his black and navy-blue attire.
He left the house, Flora at his heels, and locked the door, completely ready for his journey with his backpack over his shoulders, the vibrant egg in one hand, and three delicately tied bunches of cyclamens in the other. He dropped one on the doormat of his neighbor's house, for it was her who first helped him to stand on his own two feet. He then went to the lab, glad to see that both Professor Oak and his aide were out, most likely conducting field studies. He left one bunch of the cyclamens on Professor Oak's desk, and another on the aide's desk. As he was leaving, the aide returned.
"You're leaving," the aide stated. Aisumaru nodded in response.
"Well you're ready, I suppose. You'll make a fine breeder. Ahh, take these pokeballs, I insist. After all, I give them to all starting trainers," the aide offered. Aisumaru nodded once more, wordlessly taking them.
"Cyclamens, eh? I see you've inherited your mother's knowledge of flowers," Aisumaru twitched at the mention of his mother, but the aide continued nonetheless. "They mean goodbye, do they not? Same to you then."
Aisumaru nodded wordlessly for the final time inside Pallet Town for a long time, bowing respectfully before leaving the lab, then left the city onto route one. He crouched on a ledge overlooking the city, gently patting the heart design on Flora's forehead. Goodbyes were always much too painful...I suppose I should be thankful they don't involve any deaths this time around.

SCRAMBLE "All ships check in!" Red yelled over his mike, boosting rapidly out of the Pheonix's exit bay. The light hit him in the eyes, and he took a second to adjust before yanking the controls back, sharply flying upwards to avoid enemy fire over the canyons and hills of the rocky planet Zeb 2JK. "This is Silver, all systems go, H-Diffuser working properly.""Sapphire reporting, all set to blast some Ej Niib fighters.""Pearl here, Time to take the fight to the planet's surface!"Dragging out a loop, Red sighted his comrades pulling ahead, flying straight towards the invading armada. "MOE, prepare teleport systems for CBs, Earthshakers, and supplies.""Roger that." MOE replied from the ship's control room. Red smiled, and boosted ahead of his fellow pilots. The K-wing's all-range wings extended, and team Red Wings burst into battle. Red instantly downed a Swarm Fighter, but narrowly missed another, shot down by Silver. It seemed Sapphire was feeling a little goofy today. "Look, look!" he yelled, cutting Red off and flying dangerously through a few tunnels in the rocky canyon walls, while the rest of the team flew over it. "Did you see me?" he laughed, firing on an Assault Laser. Everyone ignored him. Red barrel rolled to avoid two turrets, shooting a C-Bomb at one of them, causing an explosing engulfing a few Fire Wheels around it. Blowing up a couple Mechs, Pearl came out of nowhere, chasing a couple Swarm Fighters. "Take this, Junk Heaps!" she yelled, firing everywhere except at them. Silver easily took them down. "Hey, those were mine!" she protested, making a face at him. "Don't be so greedy!" Silver just smirked. Just then, a giant Death Saucer came out of nowhere, and fired its Hyper Laser right at Red. There was nothing he could do but scream. "YAUGH!!!""I didn't know pancakes scared you that much."Red panted heavily, and looked up at his little sister, Green, who was standing in the middle of his room, hands on her hips. "Mom says if you don't take a shower and come downstairs to eat now, she'll call Professor Oak and tell him just to keep Charmander until some new trainer comes along." Red was out of bed and halfway down the hall three seconds later. Green shook her head in amazement. "Wow, he's really excited." she mumbled, heading back downstairs to the kitchen. Red Jackson, 15 years old. I'm finally getting to go on my Pokemon adventure. He let the shower drizzle over him, before procceding to wash his unruly brown hair. I've had my starter Pokemon for 5 years, but Oak insisted on giving her a final checkup. Well, I'm off to his lab to get Charmander, then start my journey into the world!Ten minutes later, Red was pulling on his jacket over his black shirt while running down Center Street, with a piece of toast hanging out of his mouth and his backpack over one shoulder. Running past his neighbor's house, Red waved at Professor Oak's grandson, Blue, before vaulting over an open manhole and turning down Main Street, eager to reach the outskirts of town. "I've checked Charmander out, she seems to be in fine condition." Prof. Oak said, handing Red a Pokeball. "I'm glad you know how to take care of your Pokemon.""Yep, Mom really did a lot of work though, she makes the best food in the region!" Red smiled. "Yes, how is Violet?" Prof. Oak asked. "Ah, I'll just give her a call later. You got your five Pokeballs from my aide, Dr. Fields, correct?" Red nodded. "Good. I also understand your sister gave you that Town Map I told her to give you?" Red nodded again, more vigourously. Prof. Oak laughed. "I can see you're eager to get on with your journey. Take this Pokedex, and begone! You've got a lot of work to do!""Yeah, thanks Professor!" Red yelled bolting out the door, leaving a chuckling Oak behind in his wake. ((For musical accompaniment to the dream sequence, please visit this.))

"Nomaa, it's time to get up," Vitani called up the stairs to her daughter, which was still sleeping. Nomaa groaned, throwing her arm over her eyes as the sun streamed through her window.
"Too...early," she muttered as she rolled over so that her back was to the window. However, thirty seconds later, she shot straight up from the bed, her bare feet making contact with the wooden floor with a loud thud. Crossing the room in three big steps, she went to the wall calendar and looked at it as an excited squeal escaped her.
"Oh my gosh! TODAY is the day," she exclaimed, running over to her dresser and pulling out her clothes for the day. Throwing on a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt on, she hopped down the stairs on one foot as she pulled her sneakers on.
"Come on-come on-come on," she said over and over as she reached for a piece of toast being offered to her by her mother. Stuffing it into her mouth, she ran over to the door and grabbed her mother's coat, throwing it to her.
"Nomaa, calm down. We have plenty of time to get there," she said with a small laugh as she pulled her jacket on and followed her daughter out of the door. Nomaa was already running down the path that lead from their house to the main road of town, and Vitani had to hurry to catch up to her. When she was close enough, Nomaa linked arms with her mother as they walked.
"Now Nomaa, you know that this is a big day for you, and you have been looking forward to it for a long time. But, if you don't get the pokemon you want, just remember that there are other options, and you always have that pokemon your brother gave you," she said with a smile, patting her daughter lovingly on the head. Nomaa nodded to her, giving her a small hug as they reached the Pokemon Lab.
"Mom, we're here," she squeaked excitedly as she dragged her mother through the front doors to the Pokemon Lab. There stood Professor Oak. Walking confidently to join the line of children who were also receiving their first Pokemon today, Nomaa stood with a confident air about her, smiling and giving a small wave to her mother. Along with the rest of the kids, she was fidgeting as she listened to the never-ending speech by Professor Oak about the new journey that awaited them, the choices they would have to make, and the importance that their Pokemon would play in their lives. It was nothing she had not already heard.
"And now, the moment you have all been waiting so patiently for. Nomaa Blitz, you may come up first, and choose your first Pokemon," Professor Oak said with a smile at her, motioning for her to come on up and choose between the poke-balls he had set out on the table. This was it. Trembling with anticipation, she stood, walking closer to the table. There were so many to choose from, and every waking moment, every conversation she had with anyone, and been about which was the best choice for her.
"I'm going to take Charmander," she said with a confident nod, as one of the boys behind her let out a groan. It seemed that he had been thinking the same thing, but she had got to it first. Hopefully, it wasn't someone she got along with. Professor Oak nodded, picking up the middle poke-ball and handing it down to her.
"Well, here you go Nomaa. Take good care of it," she said, giving her a small pat on the head before handing her the new pokedex he had perfected. She accepted it with a gleeful sparkle in her eyes before turning and sprinting over to her mother to give her a bug hug. She had to contain herself while she waited for the rest of the children to receive their Pokemon, and when it was all over, they all went outside to say good-bye. As soon as they were outside the doors, Nomaa turned to her mother.
"MOM! I got him! Oh, Danny is going to be so jealous! I can't wait to see him," she called, doing a small joyful dance as her mother looked on with a silent tear in her eyes. It seemed that her baby was not a child anymore, and it was time for her to set off, just like her brother had so many years ago.
"You're Nomaa right," a voice asked from behind her. Nomaa turned to see one of the aides from Professor Oak's laboratory approaching her. Nomaa nodded, breaking away from her mother to meet him.
"You forgot to come get your starting pokeballs," he said with a pleasant smile, handing her a small bag with 5 pokeballs in it. Nomaa took it and attached it to her belt with a smile.
"Oh, thanks," she said to the man, giving him a small wave as he turned and walked away from her.

"You are sure you have everything? You got that potion out of your PC, right," Natsuko's mother asked, brushing some of her daughter's pink hair out of her face with a concerned look in her eyes. Today was the day that her precious daughter was going to start her pokemon journey, which meant that it was time for her to go out on her own.
"Yes mom," Nat moaned, getting rather sick of her parent's constant concern. It was cute, but at the same time, she had already gotten her pokemon weeks ago, and they were both itching to get out into the world and make their mark on it. Her mother took the opportunity to root through her bag once more, making sure that she packed everything that she would need. It was then that her father came up to her, handing a folded up map to her.
"Here ya go Nat. Make sure to keep it with you at all times," he said, giving her a smile and a pat on the shoulder. She was about to say something else, when one of the aides from Professor Oak's research lab ran over to her, huffing and puffing from the run.
"Glad I caught you," he said, propping himself onto his knees and bending over for a second to catch his breath. When he was finished, he stood, handing Natsuko a batch of 5 pokeballs. She took them, giving the man a quizzacle look.
"Oh, I give them to all new trainers. Use them wisely," he said pleasantly, giving her a small wave before turning and walking back in the direction of the research facility. It seemed that her mother found nothing wrong with the bag, because it was at that same moment that she handed it back to her daughter, who slung it over her shoulder. It was now or never. She looked over to Squirtle, who took his place at her side, giving her a comical thumbs up, which caused her to giggle slightly.
"Mom, Dad, I'll be fine. I promise" she said, as she gave both of them a tight hug as she spoke. Breaking away from them, they said nothing as they obviously could think of nothing else but the danger that they could be sending their daughter into. Before they had a chance to hold her back once more, Natsuko and Bloo taking off in a run towards Route 1. Their adventure was officially beginning.

"Kaleb, get your butt down here!" Matt yelled upstairs. His green-haired brother sleepily stumbled down the steps. "I'm here, so be happy," he muttered. Matt just stared at his brother in shock. "GREEN? Since when?" he asked excitedly, pulling on his older brother's arm. "Since my girlfriend said she wanted to see me with green hair," Kaleb said, dragging his brother to the fridge. "Erin?" Matt replied with disgust. "You're still dating her? She's so.....mean." The fourteen year old hated his brother's girlfriend. Kaleb just shrugged, grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and a poptart from the counter, and went out the door, his younger brother trailing after him.
"Matt! Don't forget to stay with Kaleb! Don't forget to check up on us!" Matt's mother called as the young trainer released his eevee, Kale. He named Kale after his brother. The eevee seemed just as serious and lazy as Kaleb. The white-furred pokemon jumped onto Matt's shoulder, nosing the skull tattoo that peeked up from his coller. Kaleb had taken him to get that done a long time ago, much to his mother's dismay. Matt's father just laughed and said, "Just put you blame on hiim, son. When you get old and that tattoo is faded on your wrinkly neck skin, remember who got it for you."
"Stop, Kale, that tickles," Matt muttered and his shiny eevee obeyed, jumping over his master's head to his other shoulder. "C'mon Pidge, let's get this guy to Pallet town so he could get his pokedex from Oak and get out of the house," Kaleb said, releasing their sister's pidgy from its pokeball. Renee hadn't wanted them to use it, but their Dad put an end to that argument by bribing her with a new pokedoll.
"Will it carry both of us?" Matt asked warily. Kaleb shook his head no, his green locks getting into his eyes. "You'll go by yourself. I'm going over to Erin's." Matt stared through his gray-blue eyes in shock at his older brother. "You're leaving me alone, so you could go fool around with it?" Kaleb rolled his eyes (red, Matt noticed. So his brother had gotten new contacts as well.) and shoved his little brother to the ground and as he leaned in close to his brother's face, he growled, "First, I am not going to Erin's to "fool around." We're going to train. And none of your stupid comments! Second, Erin isn't an "it" she's a girl and my girlfriend, so behave or I'll tell Pidgy to drop you overtop Oak's lab, got it?" Matt just nodded, pushing Kaleb off of him. He climbed onto Pidgy's back and took off without a word, Kale back into his pokeball.
They flew from Lavender Town to Pallet Town rather quickly, making it there by nightfall. The next day, Matt and eevee walked to the lab, after releasing Pidgy back into the air. Pidgy flew off to go back to Matt's sister. "Well, Kale, here we go," Matt sighed. The shiny eevee followed his master inside. Professer Oak stood up immedietly.
Matthew! How nice to see you! How's Kaleb?" he asked. Matt just shrugged. Oak turned around and picked up a pokedex, five pokeballs, and a town map. "Behave, okay? Don't get into too much trouble," Oak said, a warm fatherly smile on his face. Matt nodded and took the items from the old man's hands and put them into his backpack. "Bye eevee," Oak said to Kale, who just twitched his tail.
Matt exited the lab and put his earbuds into his ears, changing the music to Three Days Grace. Kale jumped back onto his owner's shoulder and put his ear next to Matt's so he too could listen to the music. "To route 1," Matt said, loudly since he was practically deafened by the music in his ears.Changes: Obtained 5 Pokeballs Obtained 1 Town Map Obtained 1 Potion Moved to Route 1

The shrill sound of an alarm clock shattered Billy's peaceful dreams of girl chasing and Billy shakily rose to his feet. Stupid hotels and their stupid alarm clocks. Billy shook his cranium to clear his head and clumsily put on his clothes. As he exited the hotel, he was nearly run over by new trainers, eager to strike out on the road with their new starters. How pathetic. He was glad he still had Lax for a starter, instead of having to grovel for one from Oak.
He arrived at the Oak Pokemon Lab shortly after and knocked on the front door. An aide hastily yanked open the door and escorted Billy inside, closing the door behind him. An immediate waft of disinfectant hit him and he scrunched up his eyes in discomfort. Slowly, he made his way to Professor Oak himself, who was busy typing up a report. Billy cleared his throat noisily to make himself known, as Oak spun around on a swivel chair. "Oh, you're the one from the phone, aren't you?" "Yes, I am. I was wondering about getting a pokedex." Oak nodded and placed a red electronic notebook on the table. "This is a pokedex, an electronic encyclopedia. It records information on pokemon by scanning them and has too many functions to list." After handing the gadget to him, Oak returned to his work and Billy turned to leave. However, an aide caught him by the arm. "You should be careful out there. Here, take these." The aide handed him five pokeballs, a town map, and a potion, standard procedure for starting trainers.
After thanking the aide and professor, Billy left the lab and headed towards Route 1. Who knew what the future held for him and Lax? The only way to find out would be to head out.

Posts until hatching: 49 Current changes: - Obtained Pokedex - Moved on to Route 1 Location: Beginning of Route 1_____________________________________________________________________ Victoria raised herself up on her toes so she could keep her father and his elderly Pidgeot, Breeze in sight. She waved extravagantly above her head even though her father had his back to her by now. When she could no longer make out the speck in the vast blue of the mid-morning sky, she sighed and looked around herself. Pallet Town was small and quaint. There were no pokécenters here as there were at almost every other city and town in Kanto.
She knew where the Professor’s lab was, as her father had given her directions before he left. He’d spent a couple of years as a trainer himself in Kanto and had met Professor Oak before to receive his starter pokémon. The ranch hadn’t been nearly as successful then and her grandfather couldn’t spare the pokémon to give his children as her father did. Victoria’s older brothers had received a Ponyta and Meowth in their youth, when her parents decided it would be wise to teach pokémon care from a young age. Of course, Anton’s attachment to Meowth had come completely as an accident and that is why Victoria was given her egg while she was still an infant.
Glancing at her Growlithe, Ember, she grinned. There was no better companion the world over. He was a constant in her life, now that her family wasn’t going to be there for her anymore and then she had the secret possibility of the egg her father had mysteriously gifted her with before he left.
As if anticipating her thoughts, Ember growled an enquiry, tilting his head at her. She shook her head in response.
“Come on Ember, let’s go to the lab and see the Professor.” She said in her usual chirpy manner, heading off in the direction her father had pointed out to her earlier.
“Grow,” Ember walked patiently along at her side as they made their way up a pretty straight forward road. The lab was one of the largest buildings in the town, looming over the main road. Victoria began to understand that she probably didn’t need the directions earlier. There wasn’t much chance anyone could miss it.
She approached the front doors, which opened smoothly for her and her pokémon. A couple of lab technicians turned around to see who it was and she flashed them a nervous, but cheery smile. One of them broke away from a group and came over.
“You’re looking for Professor Oak?” He asked, beaming through long bangs of jarrah brown hair. Victoria nodded.
“Yeah, we are. Is he around?”
“Sure! He’s gone out the back to check on the pokémon we look after here.” He pointed out toward a metal back door that stood half open. The cries of pokémon drifted on the light draft that was granted access inside. She nodded.
“Thanks.” Victoria chirped in her butterscotch voice and made her way thought he door to the fields on the other side. The amount of pokémon made her eyes widen in shock. The direct sunlight made her dark brown eyes light up into their customary eerie crimson glow. Her hair followed suit as she emerged into the sunlight, the black strands lighting up like a dark red beacon.
She scanned the vast grassy area and spotted the elderly man out by a far side fence with a clipboard and pen. He looked up and spotted her, smiling and raising a hand in greeting. Victoria smiled back and slowly made her way over to where he stood, Ember trailing along behind her.
“Miss SaDiablo,” he acknowledged, giving the egg a curious look.
“You know my name?”
He chuckled, making a motion toward her hair. “I’d recognise that particular trait anywhere. What can I do to help you?”
Victoria self consciously flicked a section of her hair away from her right eye, shifting a little on the spot. “I was wondering if I’d be able to get a pokedex from you.” She said, going straight to the point. She was excited to begin her journey and the Professor seemed like the kind of person to appreciate no waffle.
“Ahh!” He seemed very pleased. “The pokedex, one of my more brilliant inventions.” He slipped is pen into the metal on his clipboard and motioned for Victoria to follow him. The Ponyta he’d been scrutinizing watched them as they passed, going back to their previous activities. They passed a small pond where a small school of Goldeen and Staryu played. He led her back inside and through to his office where he pulled out a key and opened a drawer.
“There have been a few trainers through here recently obtaining pokémon and pokedexes. I have to say it’s unusual that a breeder should be interested in obtaining one.”
“Well, I thought if I could keep records on the pokémon I see, then I could improve on myself so much better.”
“Hmmm, a very logical argument.” He reached inside the drawer and brought out a bright red device, handing it over to her. “There you are, use it well. I’m sure you’ll do you dad proud.”
“Oh wow,” Victoria accepted the pokedex from Professor Oak and grinned down at Growlithe. “We’re well on our way Ember.”
“Growww!” Came the enthusiastic reply. Sometimes Victoria’s own excitement was catching and her pokémon can’t help but feel the same way. She looked at the Professor. “Thank you Professor.”
“It’s no trouble Miss SaDiablo. Now, be on your way. I still have a lot of work to do.”
Victoria beamed. “Of course. Goodbye Professor.”
She emerged out of the lab back into the sunlight, ignoring the strange looks she received form some of the town’s residents. Her features tended to draw a little attention. She couldn’t wait to get on the road again if only it meant less people to gawk at her. She brushed her long brown skirt lightly with one hand, making sure it hung properly over her slim hips. It reached her ankles, revealing the top of her simple flip flop shoes. She wore a black tank top and her exposed arms were covered in decorative henna designs. She wore an iron cuff around the top of her left arm, engraved with a sparing linear design. Her wrists were decorated with bangles and her right hand was dominated by a beautiful grey jewel set in a gold ring.
She was a slim, athletic girl with not much in the way of chest or hip, her hair was shortish and her facial features were small and pixie-like. She was quite tall, standing at 5’8” and very fit, thanks to the work she did on the ranch. Her bangles clanged and chimed as she twirled on the spot, expending some of the energy she had pent up.
“Let’s go Ember, on to Route 1. Papa said Viridian is the city closest to us, and there should be a few different types of pokémon on the way.” She weaved her way to the entrance of Pallet Town, making her way out onto the first leg of her journey, her egg held securely under her arm.

The morning came ever so pleasantly with the Sun rising slowly into view, casting light upon the sleepy town of Pallet. The birds erupted in a joyful chorus, chattering beautifully between another. With the arrival of this bright morning, came the elegantly floating clouds and a gentle whisking breeze caressing the flowers that gracefully swayed with the wind. Within mere minute, the cold dewy atmosphere changed to a dry, fresh one, and the sky faded from dark, grey velvet to a vivid azure horizon. It was still dusk, but you could see that the animal life was already beginning to awaken and go about their daily food foraging. The Dodrio upon the hill leading into Pallet town awoke and sung their morning chant, alerting the residence of the town to the blessed morning awaiting them.
Soon after, many houses began to come alive with the sounds of laughter, children rushing outside to play around in the many gardens. In addition, people were going off to work, breathing huge breaths of the fresh air around them and walking briskly to their jobs. Their families would come out of their homes the workers as they departed, waving goodbye exuberantly. What seemed to be most apparent about today was the fact that many soon-to-be trainers would be flocking to Professor Oak’s laboratory to collect their pokémon licence and with that, their very first pokémon.
However, one boy would sleep in until mid-morning when many of the other new trainers would be leaving; Ethan David Nevis. At around 9am, Ethan’s alarm clock rang noisily to wake the slumbering 14 year old, closely followed by the resounding footsteps of Claire, his mother, climbing the small staircase with short, sharp steps. She knocked on his white washed door and waited, Ethan giving her a grumble before she opened the door softly.
She walked over to clock to turn the alarm off, then to the window to fling open the cream coloured curtains, the Sun’s rays flooding into the room. “Come on Ethan, you don’t want to miss your chance in getting a pokémon now do you?” Claire asked, encouraging Ethan to get out of bed. Ethan turned to reply, but upon opening his teary eyes, the light made his eyes wince shut again. He moaned again, this time throwing off his bed quilt and rubbing his face. Ethan rose up and sat on the edge of his bed with his face staring down, adjusting to the brightness of the room.
“I won’t be late mom.” Ethan replied eventually, but Claire just laughed. “You will, because firstly you haven’t had breakfast and secondly, you haven’t got your… Oh…” She said, noticing that on the glass table in his room laid an assortment of clothes and underwear neatly folded in three separate piles. Ethan chuckled, walking over to his cupboard and pulling out his shirt and shorts. “See… And you thought I was disorganised?” He teased merrily, making his mother smile.
Soon after that, Ethan dressed himself and packed his backpack with the gear on his table, he then packed a thin sleeping bag. Ethan knew that he would be carrying more than just clothes; he would need to store any key items that he would encounter or need too. With his backpack relatively light for his journey, Ethan hopped downstairs to grab a bite to eat, and then poured out a glass of milk. He guzzled the milk and sighed in satisfaction, before hurrying to the door and slipping on his running shoes.
“Honey, before you go…” His mother started, “You will need some pans to go into your backpack for cooking, and also a trinket to boil water in. I took the liberty of putting these into your backpack, and lightened your load a little more to compensate.”
“Hey, thanks mom. You’re a diamond!” Ethan responded, taking the bag from his mother and giving her a kiss on the cheek. “Well, I have to go now; my watch says its 9:34, so I have to go now… Bye mom!”
Ethan embraced her and flung open the door. He raced down the gravel path giving a final wave to his mother as he sprinted. His mother waved a sad goodbye, wiping a proud tear from her eye. As Ethan ran to Oak’s lab, he waved to Mrs. Ketchum as she tended to her garden, who shouted, “You’re going to be late!” amusingly. Eventually he found himself close to the huge laboratory on top of the hill he would have to walk up. Realising that he had made up lost ground, he decided to rest for a while. He opened his back and gasped in shock.
“Where the heck is most of my clothes? And my favourite underwear is gone too!!” Ethan ranted, before noticing that the essential wear was still in the bag. His favourite hooded sweater was still there along with his jeans, with a few pairs of boxer shorts, socks and a washing line, as well as the extra gear his mom gave him. He found a Town Map within his bag too; a very convenient item that he forgot to pack and which he thanked his mother for remembering to give him. After inspecting the contents, he opened up another zip and pulled out a cold soda. Ethan took a few mouthfuls of soda, getting up to walk the last part of his trek.
It wasn’t long before he was standing outside the door. He hesitated a little while before opening the door, but before he could open it, the door swung open and cracked him in the forehead. A lively Eevee emerged from the open door with a fearful expression, almost as if it were trying to get away from someone. Ethan groaned in pain, and not realising that the critter had hid behind his leg, stepped back. The hapless boy tripped over the frightened pokémon and thumped his head again on the ground below; luckily the grass was lusciously long and it did not do him great harm.
Suddenly a man hurried through the door and helped Ethan up to a seated position. “Are you okay young man?” The man said sympathetically, checking the bump on Ethan’s head. “Erm, yeah I’m fine sir… Just a little sore that’s all” Ethan replied holding his throbbing head. As he looked up, he noticed that the face was familiar to him.
“Professor Oak!” He yelled.
“Ah, you are Ethan. I was expecting you to be much sooner, but you timed it just right.” Oak smiled. The Eevee that injured Ethan nervously crept over to him, licking his hand. Ethan placed a comforting hand on the worried Eevee, petting its slick fur. Oak helped Ethan to his feet an apologised on the pokémon’s behalf, telling him that it does not seem to like being in a pokéball. Oak ushered them into his lab so that he could talk; by then Ethan’s pain began to wear off.
“So, you are here for your pokémon licence right?” Oak asked.
“I sure am. And am I right in saying this is also where I can get my starter pokémon?” Ethan replied. “Indeed it is…” Oak grinned, “Now then, you’ll probably want to have a look at the pokémon that are still on offer, so come over to here.”
The two walked over to a table with a dome in the centre. Oak flicked a switch on the side of the table, which unveiled a secret compartment holding plenty of pokeballs. Ethan was amazed at the amount of pokemon still on offer, even though he took so long arriving here.
“We still have plenty of pokémon you can choose, so go ahead and pick.” Oak said enthusiastically.
Ethan took a moment to decide, but then noticed an empty pokéball lying half-open in the dome. He picked it up and examined it, looking towards Eevee, who seemed to recognise it. He then pointed the ball at Eevee, who gasped and shook its head violently. “You must really hate it in these things, huh little one?” Ethan remarked. Eevee gave him a sorrowful stare and nodded. Ethan laughed quietly and knelt down to stroke it. Ethan’s warm touch soothed Eevee’s nerves, and with that, he gave a sweet growl.
“Professor, I’ll take Eevee please.” Ethan decided, after taking a shine to the cute fox’s affectionate side.
“Very well then, I am sure you two will get along well.” Oak grinned. “Here Ethan, you need these; your Pokéballs and pokédex.”
The professor handed the five capturing devices which were clipped to a belt, and then handed Ethan his pokédex. Ethan checked that the details on his licence were correct and thanked Professor Oak for giving him his journeying tools, especially Eevee. The two partners waved goodbye to Oak as they ventured back down the hill. They walked close to one another brimming with confidence and excitement. Where will this journey take them? What exciting events will they be a part of? What new human and pokémon friends will they encounter? Those were the questions going through Ethan’s mind, and there was only one way to find out.
“Come on Eevee, do ya wanna sprint with me?” Ethan asked his new companion. Eevee yapped happily in acceptance and the two started to run. At that point, Ethan noticed that Eevee was particularly fast in comparison to some of the other one’s he had seen before. “You’re a fast little fella, aren’t you?” Ethan stated taking short pauses for breath. “Don’t stop now though, we’re going to become as fit as we possibly can, so that we can take on any challenges that come are way!”
Ethan cut across the path, rejoining on the path towards Route 1, where their pokémon journey will officially begin. Whatever happens from here, these two ambitious companions will only grow and mature, both physically and mentally, and never look back on the choices they might make. With the grassy plains of Route 1 in sight, Ethan let out a huge cry.
“Let our quest to be the best… BEGIN!” __________ Quest item obtained: Pokedex 5x Pokeballs Pokemon - Eevee Town Map

Izzy heard a loud beeping noise and opened her eyes drowsily. She sat up in bed excitedly remembering that today was the day she would finally become a Pokemon Trainer. She hurried to turn off her alarm clock so she wouldn't wake her little sister and little brother. Elle came in and sighed 'You almost woke Cain and Mimi up." she scolded her daughter. "Sorry Mom I just got caught up in the excitement of my first day as a trainer." Izzy smiled at her mom sheepishly "I'll be down for breakfast as soon as i get dressed OK." she said as her mother left the room. Izzy jumped out of bed and changed into the Pink miniskirt and Brown Tank-top that she had laid out. grabbing her bag that was packed with her clothes and the brown cape hanging on her bed post she left the room. As she came into the Kitchen on the first floor she gasped. her mom had made a wonderful breakfast just for her. Izzy sat down in her chair and stared at the food wondering where to start. She decided it would be best to start with the Omelet. Smiling she picked up the fork and knife and cut off a piece. "mmmm Onions, cheese, green peppers, olives, and tomatoes. My favorite." Once Izzy finished the omelet, pancakes, and juice she stood up. "OK mom I'll visit a lot and tell you all about my adventures." She brushed her bangs sideways and hugged Elle who was tearing up. Izzy opened the front door and was about to leave when she heard a shout. "Wait Izzy!" 4 voices shouted at once. Her parents and siblings came running out her mother carrying a map. "You'll need this sweetie." Elle said handing the map to her which Izzy put into the trainer bag at her hip. Elle hugged her again and then her father hugged her. Izzy crouched down in front of Cain and Mimi. "Hey you guys i promise to visit a lot and I'll show you all my cute Pokemon. I'll even have 2 named after you guys." She smiled at her little brother and sister who were crying. In choked up voices they said "Sissy we'll miss you." Izzy smiled sadly. 'Oh you guys" she whispered and hugged them both 'I'll miss you to Now i have to go." She stood up waving good bye and ran out of the house. She ran all the way across Pallet Town to professor oaks Lab. "hey professor I'm here to get my Pokemon." Izzy called. "oh Izzy come over here i picked this one out just for you." he handed her a Pokemon "Go on take a look." he said with a genuine smile. Izzy smiled and let out the new Pokemon. Gasping she saw that it was a Growlithe. "Oh My Gosh Thanks professor Oak." He smiled and handed her another object. She looked at it and discovered it was a Pokedex. "thanks!" she exclaimed. Professor oak nodded "my aid has something fro you to." he said as eh walked away to look at something. Izzy walked over to Professor Oak's #1 Aid. "Um Professor Oak said you had something fro me." She said. the aid looked at her and nodded "Oh yes Now where is it." He rummaged through a bag on the table next to him. "ah here you go." he said taking 5 pokeballs from the bag and handing them to Izzy. Izzy smiled confidently "Thanks." She left the Lab and walked to the Town Exit. She turned back to look at her Birth Town, her child hood, and of course her family that was standing at the door to her house. She waved with an excited smiled. they waved back as she put on her cape and shouted "Here comes the rest of my life." She jumped into the air and then left the town.
