Casi looked fuzzily down at the crumpled letter in her hand (it has a coffee rign stain on it, too), then back up at the building with an eternally weary gaze. She'd gotten this letter... ages ago. She flipped it over in her hands, giving a soft sigh. She had been contacted to attend an appointment at this Divinity building.

When she'd found the letter (while cleaning her tiny apartment) she'd tried looking in the phone book to contact them and ask if they still wanted her to come despite the appointment date being -way- past. When she couldn't find a number she simple followed the directions within the envelope to get to this place.

It was pretty shoddy on the outside, but with a shrug she reached for the door and swung it open, stepping inside and looking around with a slightly less sleepy expression of mild surprise. Oh... well this was better. She glanced around the front area, finding a desk that she assumed was for reception and a blond young man sitting behind it, focused on whatever was on the screen of a laptop in front of him.

"
Errr.. hello?"

Nikita blinked at the tired looking woman who had entered the room, his expression as much of surprise as hers. Except his seemed to be of a more naturally jittery inclination, more then anything else.

"Hello, ah...c-can I help you?"

There were no appointments today...in fact, there weren't any appointments for quite a while. He was beginning to feel a bit like he was just waiting for something bad to happen - a feeling of impending doom. It was putting him on edge. Of course, the only reason for that, was that he hated having to deal with people.

And with Divinity leaving him alone for the most part, he just knew they were going to have him meeting a whole bunch of people. He just knew it.

But this woman...he didn't know she was. Just don't let her be one of those crazy ladies that wandered in here from time to time.

She held up the envelope, her voice was slow, as though she'd just woken up - her hair gave that illusion as well, being mussed and ruffled. "Uhh.. I got this letter..?" She set down the piece of paper that was folded over into a square a few times, the edges curled up.

She offered an awkward, shy smile at the man. He was pretty cute, she thought distantly. She liked his hair most of all and she took note of his bandaged hands. When she spoke again it was in a much softer, sleepier tone, head slightly bowed as she reached up to try and comb her own hair with her fingers. "
I'm Casi... Uh.. Casi Lethe. I had an appointment..." Her voice trailed off nervously.

Nikita blinked owlishly at Casi, reaching out and taking the paper before speaking. An appointment? There were no appointments today...or yesterday. Or even tomorrow, for that matter.

Then, as he read the note, he noticed the date. It had certainly been quite a while ago. And, now that he thought about it...he could remember. She's never shown up.

And, also come to think of it, Divinity hadn't provided him with an alternative potential guardian, as they usually did - something about the Sylph taking much longer then normal, so they weren't in a rush to find a new potential guardian.

"You, ah...you missed your ap-ppointment."

Eh...well, that was rather obvious. But...they hadn't ever given him a new name to check, soo...

"B-but, we're still in need of a guardian, s-so we can just have it now."

"Oh, good." She said softly, in that shy, awkward tone one might get when they knew they shouldn't be allowed something but were getting it anyway. She was embarassed and wondered why she'd bothered coming here after so long anyway. Something about the letter, the wording, the content itself had piqued her interest, though.

So, tilting her head down to hide her flushed cheeks with her messy bed-hair she looked up with just her half-lidded eyes. Her hands came together awkwardly in front of her and she just... stood there. And felt really dumb. When silence continued for a while longer she made a sound that would quickly be familiar to anyone who spoke with her often. "
Err.. Do... uh.. what d'you want me to do..?" Another flush of embarassment, drat!

Huh. Someone who was as socially uncomfortable as him. That was new.

"We're looking for guardians..."

That was how he started, and he went on to explain Divinity, the Sylphs, and what was expected of the guardians - within reason. All that was explained about Divinity was simply that it was an organization devoted to researching magical phenomenon, the Sylphs were beings of magic who made deals with Divinity to become human, and that the guardians were expected to live on the compound - free of charge.

It was that 'free of charge' bit that convinced them, he knew. Otherwise they tended to be a bit upset.

"S-so...are you interested?"

Free of charge was definatly something that caught her attention. Her current apartment was pretty dinky and she was having a tough time paying rent, not to mention water, electricity, and cable. -Free- meant that she could continue with her less-than sufficiant job working at the theaters. She was |this| close to becoming a full-timer, she knew it... well she hoped it. Okay she doubted it. It was just a fantasy she told herself to help her keep going.

As for the topic of Divinity and the Sylphs.. she didn't know what to think of that. She was a tad uncomfortable but... she liked kids. Usually. Taking care of one of these Sylphs would kinda be like having a sister, or neice. She had sat listening with those half-lided green eyes, nodding from time to time, and probably occasionally looking as thuogh she'd fallen asleep, but when all was said in done she gave a small sigh.

"
Well... I suppose." She gave a small bob of her head, looking up at the young man for the second time. "Yeah.. I'll do it." She really wanted to ask his name but wasn't sure how. Instead she stood there some more. Feeling dumb. Again.

Nikita smiled for a brief fraction of a second - at least that was all taken care of - before it again faded into his usual nervous expression. At least he didn't have to worry about a brand new guardian, now - he hated the first meetings. And this one wasn't turning out too bad, but he'd have hated if he had to meet yet another for this Sylph.

"W-well...that's it, then. Ah, we do have a choice of apartments for you to p-pick from...I could show you one if you'd like. We h-have them ranging from nice, to a b-bit more run down - but more private."

It didn't occur to Nikita that he hadn't introduced himself. It probably would in a little bit...but the oddity of the situation itself had thrown him off; he hadn't been expecting anyone to show up today, except people passing through.

"Oh, yeah.. that would be cool. Thank you, uh..." She awkwardly scratched the back of her head, making her hair only messier as she looked down, shuffling her sandel-clad feet on the tile. It was the best tactic she could deploy to get his name.

"N-nikita."

He hadn't introduced himself...well, if nothing else made him feel stupid, that had. He'd done everything else right - hadn't forgotten any of that spiel - but he'd forgotten the very first thing he was supposed to do. Introduce himself.

Well...at least he could rest easy in knowing that Dmitriev probably even skipped out on the spiel, and introducing himself, whenever he was stuck with this job.

He stood then, and gestured for her to follow as he headed for the back door.

"I'll show you one of our m-middle-road appartments.."

She gave a faint smile. Nikita.. she'd have to store that away. She wasn't so good with names, usually. She gave an agreeable nod as he began walking toward the front door, following behind him. Absently she brushed her hand over her hair again, trying to make it settle in vain.

She looked around curiously as they walked through it and into a hallway, smiling at the quaint little wooden mailboxes. She lightly tapped one and heard it make a hollow sound as they walked past. She was quite content to follow him silently, she wouldn't know what to say anyway.

Nikita led the girl out of the hallway and out into the compound. Once out there, he followed a path until it led to a building - not the closest one, but a bit more towards the center of the compound. There were only three apartment buildings open to guardians, but there were several other buildings in the compound.

Entering, he began to head up the stairs, pulling a key off of his belt as he did so. He had quite a few keys there, but he seemed to know which one was which.

"This is one of our middle-road apartments..."

It was one for show, of course; some basic furniture, but that was it. He unlocked the door, and gestured her in.

Casi stepped inside, looking around with a small sound of curiosity. The stairs made her a little nervous, though. She didn't see anything that was different.

She walked a bit further into the room, smiling sleepily at the humble furniture before turning around. This would be perfect if...

"Err.." This was going to be awkward, it always was for her. Like telling someone she had some strange disease, one of the ones with the long names that were hard to say. Either they didn't understand the weight of it or they walked on eggshells. It wasn't even something that drastic just... "I tend to sleep walk.. is there anything on ground floor? I don't..uh... usually.. open doors and stuff but I don't want to risk it if it's okay..."
PostPosted: Tue Sep 18, 2007 9:31 am

Nikita wrinkled his brow, and considered. The ground floor was taken in A, and C...but it was open here in B, he believed. He'd need to doublecheck to be sure, but he thought so.

"I think the g-ground floor apartment here is open."

Sleep walk...well, there were plenty of guardians with stranger (and scarier) things.

"I'll need to ch-check, though."

She broke into a sleepy smile that made her look more sheepish than anything, her hair falling into her eyes. "That would be really great." She gave a nervous laugh. "Wouldn't be so uh.. nice to come out and find me with a broken neck at the bottom of the stairs one day, huh?"

She internally wondered what had proded her to say such a weird thing.
"Err... just let me know, kay..? Take your time.. this.. uh... this is a nice place." She looked out the window toward the compound. "Don't get me wrong... I'd like an upstairs apartment. I like the view... just.. don't wanna die."

She had simply told him she sleepwalked... she didn't go to the length to explain the case. Somnambulism wouldn't be so bad.. it wasn't so frequent but when coupled with the insomnia and night terrors.. she had definatly been the source of entertainment for others as a child when attending sleep overs.

She turned back toward him, eyes flitting down along his frame and then away to a corner of the room. He was so cute... maybe she could ask him to get coffee or..

"Uhh... I like coffee." She blinked, mentally slapping her forehead. She'd choaked just before she'd asked 'would you like to get some coffee' and supstituted with the simple statement and blurted it out.
