At high noon, the Grand Cross stood on top of the world- or at least, her perspective of it. Nothing barred her view but the horizon, and she had a deal with him anyway. Carlisle could see everything from her vantage point on top of Drake's tower.
Not like that wouldn't change within moments. She gazed down the multitudinious stories to the grassy practice yards before and placed her hands on her tiny hips. If she tilted her head just right, the dot farthest to the left could almost be Raven, her only superior in this order of knights. But she wouldn't be there anyway, traitor. Carlisle pulled an angry face as she thought about her superior's actions and the cause for them. Men were forever making good women weak.
She eyed the floating pink, green and orange thing a few feet from her current position. It hovered over nearly five hundred feet of pure, insubstantial air. Whatever it was, she wanted to look at it. With a couple of tentative steps, she walked to the very edge of the old stone roof that killed the insurance costs for the old headquarters of the Order and leaned out, ignorant of the danger.
Someone was missing their squishy.

"Are you sure it's safe to be doing that? There's a lot of empty space between you and the ground, and it would be a shame if you fell. And I'm not being sarcastic either," she added hurriedly." Jaye asked Carlisle as she watched the Grand Cross leaning out toward a pink, green and orange orb that seemed to be floating in midair. What was it? Her attention was immediately drawn to it... whatever it was.
Striding over closer to the edge, yet keeping a slight distance, the sixteen year old peered at it curiosly. It had her attraction in a tight snare, refusing to let go even if Jaye was put in a precarious position such as the one she had just reprimanded the council knight for having.
"What... is it?" she asked, eyes still focused on it.

"Let me get it, Dragon Knight," she said lazily, stepping out over the abyss. She walked over the air to the orb, grabbed it, and lobbed it towards Jaye. "Maybe it's your squishy. It's tied to you." Yes, there was a faintly glow-y red string connecting the cantaloupe squishy and Jaye. Whatever the cantaloupe squishy was must like Jaye. Carlisle felt very left out and sad at that thought. She wanted a squishy, too.

Jaye gaped at Carlisle walked across the abyss to grab the orb from midair. Nevertheless, she was still alive to the fact Carlisle had lobbed it to her, catching it. It didn't require much effort. It was as light as air. It also resembled a cantaloupe slightly. But the most important thing was the tug she felt toward it, and the slight tug of herself that it was apparently forming. Her eyes were wide as she looked down at it.
"It's tied to me?" Jaye inquired. What did she mean by 'tied'? Was that what the tug between them was all about?

Carlisle gestured at the tie that traversed a usually invisible plane between Jaye and the cantaloupe squishy. Though the other couldn't see it, it was plain as day to the Grand Cross, even when she adjusted her glasses. "Nevermind, you wouldn't be able to see it anyway," she said, muddling her way back over to the top of Drake's tower. "It's yours though. Don't tell me you didn't know you lost it?"

"You're right, I can't see anything," Jaye remarked, following her gesture and seeing nothing but empty space between her and the cantaloupe-looking orb. Same as always. Must be something there that Carlisle saw, though.
"I... To be honest, I wasn't aware of the fact." She flushed scarlet. That sounded responsible.

"So not only did you lose your squishy, you also didn't even know you had it." Carlisle quirked an eyebrow- the one on the side of her head that was buzzed to barely a centimeter of visibility. "Right. Why are you a Dragon Knight again?" She slung an arm over Jaye's shoulder. "You see that?" A gloved finger pointed out red sparks in the forest. Another thing that Jaye, unless she had good vision, wouldn't be able to see.
"Someone's burning s**t out there. Looks like wood, so maybe we'd better go talk to some water mages. Walk with me?"

A strong part of Jaye itched to respond along the lines of 'Because you and the rest of the council decided to make me one?' but common sense won over and she ultimately decided against it.
She squinted as far as she could, but she only caught sight of one measly spark. Her vision wasn't too horrible, but she still was nowhere near at the level of Carlisle, obviously.
"Ugh," she stated when the Grand Cross pointed out what she thought it was. "That's disgusting. And sure, I'll go." Jaye hated fires, especially the ones in the forest.
She kept a firm mental hold on the... 'squishy' as Carlisle called it, determined not to lose it after finally being revealed that she did have it. It would ultimately be embarrassing if she did, something that she'd rather avoid.

"It's the circle of life," Carlisle sang, horribly out of key as she descended the stairs to the central area of the top floor. "It's the wheel of fortune-" Blessedly, the Grand Cross tripped and fell onto the landing. Her singing- if it could be called that- was interuppted as she loudly whined about how the stairs discriminated against her and her specifically. It was like they plotted against her. Carlisle considered the fact that she might be abusing the italics, and decided not to reveal the rest of her emoing to the narrator. Instead, she pulled out a bag of daifuku and offered one to Jaye as they went down another set of stairs. "Sour apple," she enticed, using her Big and Sparkly Eyes to try to get the other to try one.

Jaye followed after, her natural politeness keeping her from commenting on Carlisle's singing ability, or lack... which would be more appropriate at present, heading down a few flights of stairs. Man... they had been really high up. It didn't seem as obvious when you were going that way, ironically enough. She accepted a daifuku from the bag, once again, deciding to try it for the sake of being nice. She was rather adventurous as far as food was concerned, anyway. "Thanks," she stated before biting into it.

Carlisle smiled goofily. Daifuku were a hard sensation to get used to; you expected squishy, flour-y jelly (because of the flavored exterior) but what you got was crunchy chocolate. She'd always liked that, though. Kept life interesting. After a moment's hesitation, she chose a daifuku she approved of and ate the inch-wide candy in one bite.
"Aren't they good?" She closed her eyes, happy at the sudden inrush of sugar. "Maybe your squishie would like them, they are equally so squishy, right?"

Jaye nodded as she tasted it, finishing hers off. "They are," she agreed. She in all honesty had been expecting a flour-y jelly. She smiled slightly at the question pertaining to the squishy and the daifuku. "Perhaps. I'm no pro at this or anything, but I don't think it can really eat anything right now... Can it? Maybe when it ages some. If it does."

"You're going to be haunted by a floating squishie and you're not even gonna see if it eats? Man, I'm gonna have to demote you," Carlisle whined, offering Jaye a pair of daifuku (one for her, and one for the squishie, of course, and if the squishie didn't eat it, well then, she guessed Jaye would). "You'll never find out if you don't try."

"I'll try it," Jaye conceeded with a groan. "I was just basing the conclusion on the fact that the squishie doesn't appear to have a sort of mouth - or otherwise some means of getting food into it. It looks rather self-sustaining to me." Nevertheless, she took the daifuku from Carlisle and held one out to the cantaloupe-like orb before her. Moments passed. There wasn't a response. Jaye, to be frank, hadn't really been expecting one. Perhaps this floating orb simply... existed. No need to eat. No need to drink. No need to breathe. Just... existance.
In any case, the knight didn't think it polite to try shoving the daifuku into the squishie. No one liked being forced to down something, so why should this be any different?
With a sigh that was laced with finality, Jaye popped the daifuku that was hers - although the fact that the squishie didn't appear to eat made them both hers, right? - into her mouth and chewed it absently.

Carlisle snorted indelicately and dropped a daifuku into the center of the squishie. It made a slight popping noise, then the daifuku disappeared.
"Ha! I win!" She did the Dance of Two-Legged Victory down the last flight of stairs to the fourth floor, where she believed she could find a small cabal of fire and water mages. "It's probably not a squishie," she said after a moment of thought. "Since it can eat, it prolly lives, you know?"
