The Story Book Contest

Well, we figured it was time for a new, fun contest! What say ye? Anyways, we figured we'd need one that involves creativity rather than random knowledge and luck. So we created the story book contest. Oh snap. Plus, this will help get everyone pumped for our writers & fan fic forum that will come out once we have 2500g donated to the guild [I'm not hinting at all wink ].

This competitions prize is: 500g.

Here are the order of the posties:

  • Post 1: You are here. General announcements and such will go here.
  • Post 2: General Rules.
  • Post 3: Specific Instructions go here.
  • Post 4: submission instructions go here.

General Rules

The General Rules of the Contest Are as follows:

  • These contests will run for two weeks at a time. This gives you 14 days to prepare and submit your application.
  • Because this is the first time to run this contest there will be no entry fee. However, we may establish one in the future.
  • The user is to submit a story based on the guidelines given in the specific post [below this one]. However, the following rules will ALWAYS apply:

    • All content must be PG-13. Basically, if the ToS says it's not okay we aren't going to make exceptions.
    • The entry must be submitted in readable, dark colored font (none of that fancy pantsy stuff). Basically, we don't want pictures taken of your story, drawings to go with it, none of that. We'll add in an art contest later.
    • The story must be a minimum of 500 words long. The max it can be is 3 pages long. To determine how big this is we ask that you use size 12 arial font in microsoft word. Don't worry, you don't have to double space. Eventually we'll put a word limit on it, but right now we're pretty open ended. It's okay if it goes a little over 3 pages (like 3 pages & a paragraph) just don't write us an epic poem.
    • You must have your entry submitted by the due date.
    • After the contest closes all entries wil be posted here (by me{ we copy them and post them} for all members to read. We will allow commenting, voting, & etc for a week. All users will be allowed to review, critique, and ask you about your work. Do NOT enter if you cannot handle this. We will have rules for critiquing.
    • The winner will ultimately be decided by the guild crew. We will take reviews, voting, & etc into account. Chances are that the person with the most votes will win. However, there may be some expections.

3. If there is an entry fee you can donate it to the guild or send it via trade with the guild account, mischievousmaraudersguild.

4. Make sure you include at least 5 of the 10 requirements (listed in the specifics) to make them easy to find we'd really appreciate if you bolded them.

5. Be sure to include any background information you want us to know about your entry with your submission.

THE FOLLOWING IS AN EXAMPLE SUBMISSION (MINUS THE LENGTH REQUIREMENT): [I'm making up requirements that I'll be bolding]

topic: write a story about a lovers spat.

"Oh Bob! You silly crack brained neanderthal. I can't believe you threw my cat out with the trash." Linda screamed. "But Linda," he replied "You always complain about the cat, I thought I was doing you a favor" He retorted angrily. When Bob was angry his eyebrows furrowed in such a way that there would appear to be a contracting catipillar on his forehead. He really needed to trim his unibrow.....

------------
*This story alludes to the cat in the hat [not really, but if your entry does allude to something feel free to tell us]
*I used the following requirements: I can't believe you threw my cat out with the trash, he really needed to trim his unibrow, & etc.
