A light, silvery pelt could be seen from a very far off distance, if his by the sun at the right places. This being so, Kiume took to sheltering himself behind a few boulders he'd happened upon just the past night. After his hunt earlier in the day, the maned wolf just lazed about, exhausted from his travels and eager to regain the energy he spent lying awake at night, sleepless from anxiety and fear of attack. He'd seen too many things to sleep comfortably in an open area.

He'd just woken from a long nap, and he groggily lifted his head, blue eyes clearing ever so slowly as the sunlight hit his retinas. Kiume blinked once, twice, then yawned and looked around him. It was a quiet, seemingly desolate place. It was mostly dry patches of yellow scattered across the plain, and he snorted.

"I'm glad I eat meat," he said boredly, then stood and shook the dust from his body. The wolf gave yet another yawn, and began to walk in search of water. As he slowly made his way across the plain, his mind began to wander. From his old life in captivity, to his new life of freedom in the wild. They meandered to thoughts of having a family of his own, perhaps in the near future. He found himself smirking as he poked fun at himself.

Let's face it, he thought, I'm definitely not getting any younger.

Inja'amadube walked through yet another unfamiliar empty land. He looked around to see if anyone or anything was near. All he saw was a silvery figure in the distance by some boulders. He hadn't talked to anyone for a bit and figured he could try to be a little more social. Afterall, he was new to these lands, it wouldn't hurt to make friends with the locals.

He increased his pace, walking quickly to the figure. Once he was within hearing distance he said loudly, "Hey, you. Wait for a second."

Inja'amadube quickly rushed over to the wolf, then added, "Where are you headed?"

It was a lame question to ask, but he wasn't good with small talk. He didn't like talking, though he always wished to be more social. Unfortunately, he tends to come out a bit aggressive to others, so its dififcult for him to find friends.

Kiume turned his head quickly, his body slightly tensed, to see who it was. The voice hadn't sounded threatening, so slowly his body eased again, and he stopped walking. The wolf turned and examined this....dog, it seemed. Peculiarly striped, and rather unnerving considering he hadn't taken any sort of precaution with considering whether or not he was a hostile predator. He brushed the thoughts aside moments later, and took a seat.

"Nowhere, I figure. Just hoping to run into some water somewhere along the way..."

He fought and lost the battle of keeping himself from yawning. Even though he'd just rested, it seemed his journey had taken quite a toll from his body. Wander, after all, was never easy. Especially in the heat.

"Water, that sounds good, I like water," he said. It all came out somewhat awkwardly for he wasn't too sure what he was saying. He was very bad with making small talk. "My name is Inja'amadube. And, who are you?"

He let his question come out in a slightly rude or sarcastic manner, which ironic considering he was the one to original instigate conversation. If only his social skills were as good as his hunting skills, Inja'amadube would find no problems in his life. He would never trade away his skills in hunting. Never, they were much too important to him. They were wahat made him proud.

Kiume looked at Inja oddly, as though this sort of cross-species interaction wasn't normal. He wasn't very used to speaking with those outside of his species, at least not on friendly terms. However, the wolf didn't look at the experience as something bad. It was just something to get accustomed to, he reasoned. He'd been running into this sort of thing more often lately, and he was, he had to admit, getting used to it.

"I go by Kiume, it's a pleasure. What are you doing around these parts? I thought it was pretty much abandoned, and I was just passing through anyway.."

"I suppose I was just passijng through as well," he said. "I've been wandering on my own for several days, traveling looking for a new place to call home. Living the nomad life."

He stopped to think that perhaps this wolf may know an area that is less 'abandoned', as he put it. Maybe that would be a better place for him to go to than just wandering aimlessly.

"If this area is 'abandoned', then could you direct me to an area that is more populated? Preferably one that has good prey for hunting," he said casually. "I'm not familiar with any of these lands much at all."

Kiume frowned. He didn't know the area too well either, having lived the main portion of his life elsewhere. He thought for a moment though, since he'd been traveling for a while now, what areas he might have passed through that had anything that Inja was looking for. Lots of game, with a fair amount of population...

He shook his head. "I'm sorry, I can't think of any place that fits that description. And if there is, I haven't passed through it yet. You see...I'm not from these parts either, so I'm the wrong one to be asking that question."

The wolf, thinking that the conversation was over, stood up and turned around to start walking again. It'd be better to get some ground covered now rather than later, since he expected a small heat wave to pass later that afternoon. It felt something like that would happen, and he didn't want to be left in the sunlight if or when it does.

"Wait, where are you going?" called Inja'amadube as he chased after the wolf. The wolf seemed to want to be left alone, but Inja'amadube wasn't quite done talking with him yet. As he ran, he stopped to sniff in the air, looking for a scent. There was stll nothing he could detect, besides the wolf which most definitely was not appealing as a meal. He gave a slight frown, a bit disappointed.

Kiume looked back at the canine and turned around, once more taking a seat. "Off to find cover. I've a feeling it's going to rain today, and I don't particularly like the rain." He too frowned, wanting to get out of the heat soon. The wolf figured, however, that Inja would either stick with him, or leave him be. One way or the other, he'd have to deal with the orange zebra-striped wild dog.

Coward. Hiding from the rain? A sign of weakness to Inja'amadube's eyes. It was only water. Sure, its not as though he liked the rain either, but its no reason to go find shelter. Inja'amadube didn't like associating himself with the weak, although he felt sorry for them. He felt he had an obligation to make them strong. But some weak will always stay weak.

"Are you afraid of the rain?" he asked, almost tauntingly. "Its just a little water, there's no reason to be afraid of it. No reason to go and hide. You get wet. So what? Is that the worst thing in the world?"

Kiume snorted, insulted by the question. Who, in their right mind, would be afriad of rain? His eyes reflected his dislike of what he said. "Of course I'm not afraid of rain. It's just water, there's no sense in being afraid of it. I just don't fancy the idea of getting wet and uncomfortable, as well as raise chances of getting sick. I travel too much, and being sick leaves you vulnerable, and if you're vulnerable chances are rogues looking for lunch will have a bite at you. I'm not looking to die at the moment, so cover until the rain passes would be best for me." He stood and turned once more.

"You don't have to hide from the rain, as you so well put it, if you don't want to. I, however, would like cover." The wolf began padding slowly away, mainly to see if the dog had anything else to add to that. He hadn't meant to be rude, but a question like that took a bit of a blow to his pride, and biting back was one way to defend it, as well as a good way to get away and look for water, as he had originally planned on doing.

"Do you worry about being attacked? Worry about being killed? Worry about being eaten?" asked Inja'amadube darkly. He understood these fears and did not judge the wolf for having them. It would only be expected for a prey to be worried about being killed. They weren't fears that Inja'amadube would ever allow himself to have, but he could understand why a prey would have them.

"You should learn to be stronger, learn to fight back, retaliate," he suggested, hoping to inspire the weak wolf to become the strong hunter that it can become. It was Inja'amadube's bellief that in most cases, the weak can turn to become the strong. It was a belief that he wanted to prove to this wolf. Whether or not he would be able to was a seperate subject.

Kiume eyed the canine, beginning to get little more than flustered at what he had to say. Did he see the wolf as weak? As one who spent most, if not all, their lives running and hiding from danger? Kiume, if he hadn't known better, would've taken a bite at Inja already. However, his body, weak as it already was from lack of hydration, would give in almost instantly if he tried. It was already taking a lot of his energy just walking around in the heat; he would, in no way, stand a chance against this dog.

"I worry about things everyone worries about," he answered curtly. "And if you deny that you have those worries as well, then I suppose you're nothing short of a god. As for learning to fight back, I already know how to fight back. I wouldn't be able to fight back if I were sick, is what I'm saying." He stood, once more, and turned. "In other words, I'm nothing more than a mortal wolf trying to find the best way to survive around here. If you can fight back while ill, that's fine with me. I wouldn't want to try it, but go ahead and jump into it if you want. It wouldn't be my problem if one of those lions managed to pull your neck off because you're so eager to prove your strength."

With that, Kiume began to walk forward, no longer wanting to hear anything more that Inja had to say to him. It was obvious that he saw the wolf as a 'weaker' being, and Kiume, for one, absolutely hated being seen as a weakling. He was, he thought, anything but that.

"Well then, I think its best we split ways and ignore each other," he said coldly. "There's no reason for me to continue to waste my time with the likes of you."

Inja'amadube growled softly, staring down the wolf. The wolf's argument had some validity, but there was something about him that aggravated Inja'amadube. Perhaps it was the tone or possibly something else. He wasn't sure what it was, he just knew he didn't like him.
