Since I haven't seen this yet, I thought it would be cool to have a little thread dedicated to showing off their Saiyuki related Cosplays and/or maybe ask for help. So, I guess I'll start off... Halloween 04: Me in the middle...So, that was mainly Target made, with some stuff I had laying around too. The Hakuryu is really one of those white dragon beanie babies, think his name is magic. Had him for a while, he's my temp for until I finish my Hakuryu plushie/bag. Only that wasn't target really were the shoes (thrift store), the buttons and black trim (thrift store again), and the ear cuffs, which were a tealight that I killed, and trust me, if you ever do earcuffs from tealights, put a little adhesive on too, just in case.

I've cosplayed as both Genjyo Sanzo and Cho Hakkai. I think you did a good job on the Hakkai cosplay...I wish I had a Hakuru plushie...that would have made my Hakkai cosplay complete.

*petpets Sor* Don't worry! You'll be in Maryland the WHOLE WEEK before Otakon (you will) and me and my sewing self will help you! *snuggles*
Just everyone wait until August! Then you'll see the most rockin'est Saiyuki cosplay EVA!!!!
(It's a damn shame that one of our members is unsure enough about making it down that I'm not going to spend the time making her a costume - she would have made a really cute Hakuryuu. I had it all planned out... *disappointed*)
Bug, do you have any pictures of you an I together? Sanzo and Nii style?

No, I think Sam had the only one... crying
And the plan so far, is that I probably won't be able to come early (because I hate Moosehead and Moosehead hates me), but I should be able to leave there a week early, instead of asking for the weekend off, where Otakon's near the end of August next year. So I may not be able to go early, but if I can afford it, I can stay later <3.
But we'll talk about it more. Fo' sho'. whee

I was thinking of adding a hakkai shirt tutorial to my website... So I guess I will. Oh, and you can get it done in about. *thinks back to halloween time* 8 or so hours. Basically teh first step is to get a nice green turtle neck, unfortunely its really hard to find one that doesn't have ribbing, then find some notions which you like, I had some nice black suede like stuff laying around, same with the buttons, which are completely inacurate in my case, but look pretty (they are bronze with engraved lines that look like a sun) Oh, and I think I saw a green turtleneck at Walmart this week too. I got mine at target, but if you can't fit into children's clothes, then mine wouldn't work on you. There was one at target in the guys section though that would have been nice, had it not been way too big on me. Just remeber, hakkai's top is baggy, and make sure that you can tuck it into your pants. (my pants had problems cause they were girls size 16. @.@ if only they had had size 18! But the girl's section has the right cut in order to downsize the butt. You just sometimes have to deal with an embroidered heart on the but, but I think Hakkai's pants with an embroidered heart on the butt is cute.)
Oh, and essay, it hasn't gone to con yet, like me, but its first is Anime Expo 05. (I was trying to get a Sanzo ikkou together at least, but alas, I'd have to make the Gojyo costume, and hunt down a Sanzo and Goku. And that's only if my dad will let me go to AX because of my grades. ^^0)

I already have the pants covered. They're a beige-y kinda cords. I wuff them <3. Like Hakkai's, they flaunt my a** pretty well XD. So I'll have to scour around Zellers for a turtleneck? I'll have to find a HUGE one, because I'm going as Reload!Hakkai, and he wears his shirt untucked like that. crying So so pretty... I have to do him justice!

NO! Not HUGE! How to tell if it'll be right is see if you can fit out forearm into the shoulder of the other arm, it should be big enough. Unless you happen to have really fat/skinny arms. Of course, your opinion of how it looks is the most important.

She's saying huge because she wants it to be long. But, as turtlenecks, esp. female ones, are cut at the waist, that's going to be a problem.
Damnit, Bug, you need to be able to sew.
Besides, if you want to be dead-accurate, a turtleneck is a little high... *is a**l retentive...*

That's why you change it. You cut the neck of it shorter, and then you sew on the trim. I'll get to doing the tutorial now, help calm my nerves before SAT ya know. I'm just excited because I get to go wig shopping after SAT with a friend, I'm almost sure I'll be getting it tomorrow. I know this nice lady at the mall. But, yeah, I'll start drawing up the tut.

There was this one Lirin at Otakon this year who had plushie soft fleece pants whee Mine are being recycled from unfinished white jeans my mom made as a test pair or something, and it's made out of this denim type thing. Plus they're too big for me so I can take in the top for that "flare" thing her pants do at the top while still having baggyness. <3 Only 85% left to finish. gonk Already made the big Sanzo plushie to go with it, but I messed up on the shirt. Might end up using the Hakkai method. wink
