Dario Franchitti is the 2007 IRL champion!!!! biggrin
Congrats to Dario!!! Yay!!!! biggrin
And now he wants to go to NASCAR. Will be replacing David Stremme in the 40 car at Ganassi racing...which yet again makes me hate Gannasi. Kicking out David from the car and sounds like the team as well sad

Stremme's contract was already up at the end of the year, and Coors said they weren't coming back with a sponsor. Ganassi wouldn't resign him without a sponsor. It's all about having a driver who will win or who has a big name. That's how the teams get money and sponsors. Plus the thought of more races and bigger audiences is drawing the IRL guys - I read a quote from Dan Wheldon saying that he would consider it too for those reasons.
I think it's pretty exciting that a bunch of open wheel guys are in or coming to Nascar (Montoya, Ambrose, Patrick Carpentier, Franchitti). I was thinking about the Franchitti news and was wondering if Ashley pushed him in that direction because of his 2 close calls this year. She's a strong woman, and I could see her putting her foot down because of their family. I'm glad he won the championship this year, in case he does leave IRL. And what an exciting last race it was!!
