He stretched his wings once he cleared the line of trees, taking a moment to ease the stiffness of joints before drawing them back against his body. A grin was still curving his lips; that look of shock on the pretty stallion's face priceless. Was this the thrill that his brother and sister felt when hunting? Mm... He might have found himself a new game; far more interesting than rabbits and deer.
He headed back towards the darkened corners that his 'family' inhabited, knowing that the time for what was to come was drawing near. He had said that he would be there to watch and he meant it... If he had any say in the events, everyone that they pertained to would be there. Even her.

She had grown far less irritable over thinking of the mutant, though he had never left her thoughts for an instant. She contemplated what she would say, what she would do, when she finally ran into him again. So much had happened between them and she still felt the hatred towards the beast burning within her... but aside from that burning sensation there was a dreadful feeling of emptiness. From the moment she had departed her ways with him and the foals, not a day went by that she didn't find herself bored at one point or another. As cruel and crude as he was, he still made life interesting.
Whatever. She'd figure out what to do when she found him, if that was even possible!

His ears flickered towards the sound of movement. Had the stallion been foolish enough to follow him? Oh, were that the case he would certainly find a good bit of amusement.
He listened carefully trying to figure out whether or not it was his toy coming towards him... No, it wasn't. The sound wasn't nearly as delicate as he took the stallion to be. The sound was...
"Mother, dearest." He grinned as the source came into sight. How could he forget her? He still bore the marks from his last encounter with her; hidden beneath his wing just as the markings he'd been born with were. "How perfect."

Her eyes rose from watching the ground, having found the blades of grass a boring sight anyhow. In their place stood a large stallion, nearly as large as his father but not quite. Had it not been for his vivaciously bright pink wings, Dia might have even mistaken him for Plague.
She glared, and her defenses rose.
"Aren't you supposed to be dead somewhere? I'd have thought your Father would have put an end to the scrawny likes of you long before now."

"Now, now, Mother... Is that any way to greet your son?" He crooned softly as he stepped closer to her, not meaning her any harm... At the moment. "Father isn't concerned with me. Father has other things on his mind." He grinned, pale pink eyes gleaming. "Would you like to know what those things are, Mother?"

"Quit calling me that," she snapped, allowing her emotions to get the better of her. "I am not your mother, no matter how badly you or your wretched siblings may want me to be. I'm nothing more than the mare that brought you into this world, and if I had my way, I'd be the one taking you out as well."
Her ivory head remained high, familiar looking pink eyes staring right back into her own. She knew nothing of these foals, not even their names, much less what they were capable of doing. But knowing Plague, this one no doubt had some training drilled into him at an early age, even despite his mare-ish appearance.

His eyes narrowed slightly as he straightened himself out, holding his wings close to him least they somehow be used against him should she choose to attack. "You are my mother even if you aren't motherly. If you would prefer I could address you as Father does..."
As little as he cared for this mare and as many things as he could call her he knew that he could never address her as Plague did. No, that word was reserved for him... b*****d that he was.
"We've grown up now, Mother. Have you come to try again? Or have you come to learn exactly what it is that I've learned... I could tell you such stories. Can you feel it lingering in the air, Mother? Do you know what's coming?"

"Mother is only a name, and a name that is far from befitting of the likes of myself. Dam, perhaps, but not mother. Never mother."
Her own bat-like wings spread out further, instinctively attempting to make herself appear larger than she really was. He was bigger than she, but what she lacked in physique, she made up in knowledge. As trained as he might be, she had been trained by Plague herself as well... and dealt with him for far many more years of him than this young colt had.
"You're no longer worth my time," she scowled, her eyes now searching around him, for signs of the stallion who had sired him, "And your cryptic words mean nothing to me as well. What will come will come."

"I may not be worth your time... But whoever you're looking for is." He smirked, giving his head a light toss that sent curls splaying softly against his neck. "Are you looking for him? You won't find him here, Mother. He left... Not long ago... But he'll be back. Oh, yes... He'll be back and when he comes back? There will be a wonderful suprise here for him. You wouldn't want to miss that, would you, Mother?"

She was growing more and more annoyed as each second passed. What the hell did this colt think he was doing, trying to toy with her like this!
"You're lying to yourself if you think I'm looking for him." she snorted, shaking her own curls in retaliation. There was no way on this green land that he would ever be as beautiful as she, though it was apparent that he was trying, and trying hard. "I have far better things to do with my time than meddle with some worthless foals... foals that don't even look the part of the kalona they're supposed to be!"

"Why else would you be here, Mother? What else would bring you so close to home?" He laughed as he shook his head, mimicking her movements in an almost mockingly perfect way. "One of us looks every bit the kalona that you do, Mother. He is the one that you should keep an eye on... And she is the one that you should watch out for."

"So in other words, you're saying you're the reject of the group, hm?"
Her pink and purple tail swished back in forth in the gentle breeze, her attitude anything but pleasant. "I'll go where I want to go, and there's no one nor nothing than can stop me. I happen to enjoy the food found around these parts, so if I choose to hunt here, I shall hunt here."

His eyes narrowed as his demeanor changed, taking on a colder feel to his stance. "If I am it is because I chose to be so, Mother." The final word was said with contempt this time, no more of the singsong 'warmth'. "What does that make you, Mother, if Father left you to raise us?"
Snorting he gave his head a light toss before his features smoothed into a beautiful smile once more. "No matter. You should stick around, Mother... Or at least be prepared. Things are changing in this part of the woods. It's bound to be a fabulous show."

"I'll have you know I left your Father long before you three were ever born." she smirked, noting the change in his attitude. So her words had struck a soft spot.... good. "He came searching for me, and it was only then that it dawned on him that I was pregnant! As if he'd raise you to actually MAKE something out of you!"
She laughed, tossing her head back, enjoying the sound of her own noise. "He only took you three in to try to 'teach' me, I'm sure. He only used you, so you may as well give up on any hopes of gaining anything out of having him around. But oh... that should make you feel terrible, shouldn't it? To know that your life was only spared so that you could stick around long enough to be a thorn in my side? What a purpose!"
Grinning, she moved her way past him, continuing in her direction towards the forest. "As I said before, what will come will come. If there's a show in store for the lot of us, I hope to hell it's a good one so it doesn't waste my time like you have."

He let her ramble on, hoping that it at least made her feel better as he himself paid it no mind whatsoever. He had said to her what had needed to be said... He had told her to be prepared for what came next... And, if she wasn't? Well, that was most certainly her fault.
"Have a good day, mother!" He called after her, a bright smile curving his lips. At least, if anything, he had managed to put a burr in her backside.
