Sometimes in the course of duty, Avedis got bored.
Well, what do you expect? Match up someone like him with someone like Kalistrae and you got... exactly chaos. Chaos. Their organization didn't like chaos, thought it was awkward and rude. But Avedis was anything but awkward and rude, and even chaos could get boring if it got chaotic enough for a significant amount of time. That is what brought him out wandering, all senses wide-awake and open for anything that would indicate that he'd found one of their many targets. The ranks of this Chaos increased every day, and he despised it with all his heart. It was irritating, disconcerting, and above all, against regulation.
There was a single, constant source of irritation to the direct east of his location. He'd been listening to it all day, grating his sparkling, white teeth and wincing when the power level spiked (indicating usage). What kind of world left the power levels of their mages so... untrimmed? It wasn't like a sudden power surge would hurt him- he was nigh indestructible. You couldn't kill ideas. But he still could feel pain, and there was a strong ache in his ear now from this one's irritating patterns.
A large, final spike in the power levels and a sudden change in pitch brought Avedis's head off the grass he'd been laying in. He stood up, looking about to check for observers. Not only was that the annoying little mage, that was one of those... chaotic little things coming into existence. In his world. While he was trying to relax. Nevermind he'd been waiting for this. It still pissed him off.
Assured no one was watching, he pulled on the fabric of the universe and vanished through the rip he had created.
When he remanifested himself in a dark, dank library, he was surrounded by sparkles and shining things. And, of course, books. Avedis narrowed flourescent purple eyes. Somewhere between his last location and here, he'd taken on a more comfortable form- that of a tall, skeletal humanoid with slightly tattered black robes. The lining of the cloth was visible through some of the rents in the fabric- white peeked through in sharp and daunting contrast. His hair was a vibrant, unnatural red that was half-pulled back over more hair, this time black.
"Where is it," he demanded vaguely, gesturing. "Tell me, little mage."

The result was completely an accident.
This was obvious, even to the stranger, for the magic circle she'd scribed onto the dated hardwood floors hardly spoke of polished skill and there were at least three runes that had expired long before this experiment. Josie had known this. The girl was by no means stupid but had rather set up this entire thing for the simple practice of doing so and properly pronunciating the complex turns of speech involved with summoning. She had never expected it to spark, let alone work, thus she would fine it completely justified (upon later recalling the situation) that at the sudden appearance of a massive figure that spoke of dark times and unpleasant intent that she’d stopped in the middle of her sentence and had proceeded to fall backwards, squealing in fright. Dark chestnut locks fell like silk before pallid features, emerald optics facetted within them now grown wide with shock as they beheld the, what she assumed, male entity whom loomed over her trembling hourglass frame.
The sound of her original emanation faded within seconds and she hesitantly brushed back the hair from her face to get a better look at just what it was. The entire being spoke of power. The dark hues, the tattered garments, and the tell-tale frame of one who was clearly involved in the same dealing as she - magic. That could be the only explanation to the drawn in features. It was really a very stark contrast to the younger mage whom had yet suffered the ill effects of wielding such power. The girl wasn’t worth yet of such a magnificent presence and to all the world looked like a novice.
A novice who had screwed up big time.
“Where is it?” The voice confirmed her suspicions, it was male. “Tell me, little mage.”
Josie shook her head a little and forced words to form through the fear. “I-I’m s-s-sorry…Where is..where is what?”

"The abomination!" Avedis drew himself up to his full height and looked around for the little floating Illusion he knew would be here. Maybe this little girl would be able to spot it first, if this circle weren't still spitting sparks at him. The man broke the line nearest him with a foot, rendering the circle impotent. Once the sparks had died down, he said, "Do you see anything here?" He strode forward and towered over Josie. "Look closely."
He thought he'd spotted it, but it looked more like a dust mote to him.

Josie regretted asking the question almost immediatly. The figure was NOT pleased and apparently believed that she knew something about whatever it was he was looking for. Now, she wasn't about to displease him again, if she could help it, and pushed herself up from her undignified position to better have a look around.
At first she didn't see anything unusual. It was a library, albeit old. Thousands of dated tomes lined the walls and here and there lay forgotten furniture, piled high with dust. No light from the inviting day shone through the glass panes of the windows but instead illusions danced just behind them - probably set hundreds of years before her.
But...something WAS there. Something that hadn't been there a moment before.
The girl stared hard at it for a second before nodding to the figure whom had demanded it. It was barely a whisp of something - grey and dull, although upon closer inspection she could see a bit of red hovering somewhere in it. Perhaps it was injured? That she couldn't determine. She pointed at it. "There...that's it." Her gaze carefully came back to him. "Isn't it?"

He looked back at the dust mote. Now that he was actually paying attention, he could see the tether that kept the abomination connected to this plane of existence, rather than the void. It stretched between the student and the Reverie, pulsing brightly with fresh power. No wonder this little one had attached to the girl like that- so much untamed power. In this form, the buzzing of uncontrolled abilities was much more audible. It was also easier to ignore, so Avedis simply blocked it from his ears.
"At least I know where one of them is now." He'd actually located at least three of them by that point, but this one would be a good one to observe. More information could perhaps be gleaned from this than from the teenager he'd already located, or the children. "What's your name," he said, all politeness now that he had found the Illusion. One bony, long-fingered hand slid out of a sleeve and he offered it to the girl to help her up from the floor. "I am Avedis," he continued. "Forgive me, I was overwrought."

The offered hand was accepted and she pulled herself up completely. Avedis, as he'd now introduced himself, was still a great deal larger than her - even at her full height - so Josie couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated. She cast her attention back to the whatever it was, avoiding the thought his height brought to mind. "Josie...I'm Josie, and i-it's alright. You startled me is all..." She made a slight gesture to the circle. "I hadn't expected it to actually DO anything...let alone bring you and..well...that."

"It only brought that," he said kindly. "I felt a fluctuation and came myself." How he got there, he'd probably never tell anyone. It probably wasn't their business anyway. Avedis really could be quite gentlemanly, when he wasn't looking for the source of interdimensional abominations. With this one located, he was actually feeling quite charitable. "So, what are you going to name it?"

Name it? She was expected to KEEP it? The thought caused her to frown for a moment before a slow, shy smile came to her features. It was going to BECOME something! It had to, after all, since you could not simply name a oversized dust mote. She approached the hovering object she looked it over carefully, the smile becomming a grin as after a few moment she declared, "I'll name it Victor! If it's a guy thing...I dunno...erm....Marrie if it's a girl? Or maybe it'd adronogymous..."
The tone made it obvious that she was beginning to warm to the idea of having her own minion, of sorts, although she hadn't a clue as to what it was yet. Before magic came her original love, science, and to her it all seemed to be a grand opportunity to investigate him and it and whatever else was going to happen.

"Victor then, it'll be a--" Josie's tone caught up with him, and his face settled into a frown. Why was she eager to end up in his master's bad books? Perhaps she was simply looking at it from the wrong light, but he could feel the ire bubbling up again. Avedis's face shifted to a half-grimace and he walked slowly over to the girl.
"Are you so eager for damnation?"

It was then the girl had realized her error. The heavy sounds of his slow, steady pace could be heard and the anger simmering just below his tones caused a fear that had seemingly fled to return twofold. Josie turned to face him but only to know where he was as she began to back up, trying to retreat until her back was jarred by a desk edge - meaning she could no longer make good of the otherwise open space. Nomatter if she took left or right, she already knew he would be there. She was alone...he was comming for her...and, foolish as she'd been, she'd NOT told her uncle where she had gone.
There was only one thing she could do and pray to work, she squeezed her eyes shut and sucked in a deep breath, finally screaming out his name as Avedis grew close. "MAVERICK!!!!"

Between Avedis and Josie, there appeared a rather large, male-shaped shadow. That shadow soon formed itself into the form of a very angry Maverick Arrikanez. He hissed, and his eyes glowed blood red. He was like a father cat with his apprentices. And one did not mess with his kittens.
"Josie. Run. Now. DO AS I SAY."
He used his arm to push Josie to the side, and backed that way to protect her. The twelve foot behemoth in front of him was something a bit formidable, but he'd dealt with far worse. He drew his staff from under his cloak, and held it in his left hand, the right one waiting to be used.
"You have about five seconds to tell me who the HELL you are, and what you are doing here scaring my apprentice. 1..... 2............ 4......."

Probably contrary to what Maverick wanted, the man was not frightened by him. He was actually quite intrigued. "You skipped three," he said politely, as if it were a matter of no import. It couldn't be clearer that Avedis didn't consider anyone in this room a threat at all, except the floating gray fluff of Victor. He turned to follow Maverick, looking highly interested. "Perhaps this culture doesn't believe in three?"
That was of no matter. Now, more importantly, should he answer or should he let it go? Not like it really mattered. This was a trifling thing, he supposed, since he knew where and what the new Illusionary was... Avedis considered leaving, but then decided to continue on his former course. "Alright, I'll answer your little questions," he said, all condescending. "My name is Avedis, and I am here as a representative of my master. There was a flux of power, and I came to see it."

Taking the chance given her, Josie rounded to the left of the desk and ran - not towards the exit, but towards the fluff.
Now, the reverie had been content in minding it's own buisness. From a distance it had observed the creature it had been bound to as well as the one who might very well bannish it from existance. Or whatever existance there was. A floating remnant was not his ideal form and the pallid color of dissapointment was clearly exibited through the soft grey hues that composed what was it's entirety. However, that was not to say that this new life did not offer promise...It watched still, hovering but a few way aways from tenant and tormentor - wondering what was to become of it in the midst of all this.
Not that it had long to wait.
Josie grabbed it. Whether or not it was tangible, her senses extended and she latched onto it with her mind, pulling it to her as she drew into range and then cutting off through the shelves. Maverick would protect her - she knew he would - but who would protect Maverick when Avedis tried to get at the fluffy ball of smoke she held to her chest posessively?

Maverick was NOT amused. He narrowed his eyes, and reached over to take the glove off his left hand. In place of normal, healthy human flesh, there was a skeletal nightmare. And it was just about then that Ean and Nishin decided to join the party.
"Uncle Mav? What's going on? Aunt Josie?" Ean sounded confused.
"Did I miss the festivities? I've always LOVED a good shedding of blood..." Nishin just sounded creepy.

Avedis smiled, eyes going a little wide with fascination. "Oh, an exposed skeletal system," he marveled, reaching out to touch it with one bony hand. But before then, he felt another 'ping'. More abominations, how lovely. The smile turned to a grimace and he straightened up to his full height, looking down at the two; at least they weren't attempting to threaten him. That would just be infuriating.
"And another abomination. Two of them, but only one? How interesting." His voice didn't hold a ring of truth, but was rather more deadpan. "You're of the same age as that blonde brat, aren't you?" Avedis referenced Aure, sketching an approximation in the air with a fingertip. Though nothing formed in the air, it was enough to give an idea of the other Illu's general appearance.
He hmphed after a moment and drifted off after Josie, slow and serene. No matter. It wasn't all that important anyway.
