Kaelia walked in the forest from Luau LuLu's house. He wanted to go out on her own for a while. She knew her sister ment well, but never going out was just as bad as being stuck in the glowing flower cave.
She found herself in a medow full of flowers. She had always loved them. Maybe being stuck there wasnt' so bad. Hybiscus sat on her shoulder wantching over her.

As much as he used to complain about the demon boy, Saffron found that his days were almost too quiet and just a bit...dare he say it...lonely without the vampiric teen sulking about. He'd taken to wandering the isle, secretly hoping he might run across the estranged youngster once more. No luck thus far, but he wouldn't allow himself to be discouraged. Of course, how could he be discouraged if he didn't acknowledge exactly what he was doing?
He was lost in his thoughts as he wandered today and was surprised to shake out of his stupor long enough to notice someone else was enjoying the meadow today. Someone...oddly similar to someone else he hadn't seen in a while. In fact, he'd never seen another before like himself and his sister. Except for her coloring, this female looked much like his sister...
Who knew? Another mixed demon...
The mixed angel chuckled to himself and smiled gently, raising a hand in greeting. "Err, hello there! I hope you don't mind my intruding..."

Kaelia looked over and saw the mixed angel. He was like her sister. So, she didn't slink away as her feeling toward him was that he must be okay. Then again, she hadn't been too bad with new people as long as it was one at a time.
"Oh, no that's okay. I'm Kaelia." She smiled warmly to the male. Her mellon looked him over for a moment then wispered in her ear, which made her laugh. It was nothing bad of course.

Saffron raised an eyebrow in mild curiosity, but didn't ask exactly what was so funny. He could only hope it wasn't something he said or did. He moved closer, sitting down at a comfortable speaking distance, but not so close as to make either of them uncomfortable.
"Thanks," he said, smiling gently. "I'm Saffron. It's a pleasure to meet you, Kaelia." He nodded politely, then leaned back on his hands comfortably, legs crossed at the ankles and staring up at the blue sky. It really was a nice day today and while he was tempted momentarily to comment on the weather, he realized how cliche that was and simply stayed silent, trying to think of something more interesting to say.

Kaelia smiled. "Nice to meet you too. I haven't met many besides my family so it really is true." She was sure why she was explaining that. She frowned slightly to herself.
"I miss the glowing flowers. Have you ever seen any?" Kaelia asked as if Saffron would have any clue what it was she was talking about. "In the darkness they were a nice light." She then sat down as well.
Kaelia grabbed at a small weed flower and touched it. Soon, it was glowing. Kaelia looked down with a half smile. That was odd.

"Glowing flowers?" Saffron looked completely baffled. He shook his head, tiny head wings fluttering slightly. "I'm afraid I'ver never even heard of such a thing, let alone...seen...it..."
He stared in disbelief at the glowing flora, cocking his head to the side curiously. "...at least not until this very moment." He looked quickly to Kaelia, raising an eyebrow. "How did you do that?"

Kaelia looked back at Saffron. "Oh, um... I'm not sure. I lived in a cave filled with glowing flowers. Maybe they like me?" She had been taken to get a power with her sister, but she hadn't thought of that.
"I wonder if only flowers glow?" She asked. She didn't know she could make all fiber things glow. Not that there was much else to try. "Maybe it's the potion?" She said as she looked at the flower begining to dim.

"I have no idea," Saffron admitted honestly, still staring at the flower even as the glow faded. "I suppose that could be true. I mean, I've heard of stranger things, but still..."
Blinking, Saffron finally processed all of what she'd just said. "Wait...potion? What sort of potion?" He frowned, looking at Kaelia with curiosity. He had no idea what sort of potion she was referring to, as he'd manged to inherit his own strange power from his parents before the isle had begun changing again.

Kaelia thought about it for a moment as Saffron spoke. "Oh, well my sister took me to a cottage and made me a potion and drink it. I wasn't sure what it was for. Luau LuLu said all pae's needed to drink them now." She nodded. "I guess it could be that. Or it helped bring out a power. I know my sister had one without a potion." She shurgged.

A cottage? Potion? Powers? Ah ha!
"Wait...I do remember a cottage. I never went there for myself...but I took Devyn. I remember it all now...it's been some time since then, I guess." Saffron mused half to himself, half to Kaelia as he worked through his own hazy memories. Of course...not long after that day, Devyn's fangs had appeared and he'd started biting people.
Well, started biting hard enough to break skin at least.
Looking back at Kaelia, he nodded. "Yes, I gained my own power long ago without using a potion, but I know others who have had the same experience as you. I'm almost sure that that's how you gained this ability. Err...even if I don't understand exactly what it is yet or how it works."
Then he frowned, his thoughts straying elsewhere. If she could make the flower glow...what would happen if he shapeshifted into a flower?

Kaelia understood. "Oh, I see. Thanks so much for helping me. I wonder what else I can make glow?"
She smiled and reached over to her foot and touched it. Nothing happened. She then touched Hybiscus. Again nothing. She then touched a blade of grass. It did work. "Maybe only plant life?"

While the thought made him feel a bit uncomfortable, Saffron didn't see any other choice if they were going to settle the matter. Hopefully, Kaelia wouldn't be as uncomfortable about this as he would...or that she wouldn't freak out...
"If it's okay...I'd like to test that theory. Err...for the sake of science, of course," he joked, grinning sheepishly. Slowly, he reached over and just barely touched Kaelia's arm.
Nothing happened.
Not that he'd expected it to.
"Alright," he sighed, closing his eyes briefly in resignation. "I'd like to try something...but I don't want you to be scared or shocked or anything, alright? Give me a second before we try this again...and brace yourself." After shooting the young woman a brief smile, he turned his attention inward and concentrated on the image of the flowers growing around the meadow. Particularly the same type that Kaelia had just caused to glow.
Nothing happened for a moment, then slowly with increasing speed, the mixed angel Pae'il's form melted and shifted until a small flower occupied the same spot he had just moments ago.
Would it still work on a Pae'il-turned-plant?

((Do you think it would? I"m a bit fuzzy on the power myself. lol))
Kaelia wasn't sure what he was talking about but she nodded to him. He then changed. The girl blinked once, twice and then a third time.
"Holy Seashells. Did he just turn into that flower?" Kaelia asked her Mellon who was floating around her head in a bit of a panic whispering to the girl. "No, I don't think he was a flower spirit just looking like a pae...or was he?"
One had to remember she grew up on her own in a cave with only flowers and her Mellon to keep her company. "I know it's his power." She giggled at herself thinking he was a flower spirit and the reached out and touched the now Saffron flower to see if anything happened.

((*chuckles* Would depend on Saffron actually. As to whether he simply shapeshifts and remains a Pae'il in the shape of a flower, or if he actually alters his genetic make-up and molecular structure to BECOME a flower. I choose to interpret it as the second way, so we'll say it does work. *winks*))
While Saffron could still somehow hear Kaelia in this form (Guardians only knew how), he couldn't respond. He'd never figured out how to communicate in this form and had yet to discover whether he even could.
A flower spirit? The thought was amusing...but he was pretty sure he wasn't one of those. Only if his parents were too. Again, pretty sure that answer was a negative, if still amusing.
Leaves rustling lightly in the breeze, at Kaelia's touch the tips began to glow softly. The glow seemed to strengthen and spread slowly from leaf to leaf to petal.

((Yeah, I was wondering about the first one too. Okay!))
Kaelia smiled as he, the flower, began to glow too. "Ooohhh.... now you look very pretty. All glowy. Reminds me of home...or what I called home for so long." She smiled again as she looked at the flower.
"I wonder how long he can stay that way? Do you think it's painful?" She asked her mellon. Hybiscus shurgged her shoulders. She didn't know.
