A Delightful Evening

(This is a private roleplay between Saiyukii and Desiree~ Please do not post. <33)

User Image

Shifting around restlessly, Rohan glanced at the rising sun as the day soon faded into evening. Flicking his ears forth, He could hear the excited crowd of humans and soquilis from some distance away. It seemed.. as if they were celebrating something? But it wasn't like he cared much anyways.

With a throw of his head, and a whinny, he headed away from the bright lights of the village towards the grassy plains for some peace. A cool breeze blew, mingled with the scent of humans, foods, and other mixtures of smell. Rohan has assumed that all of the other soquilis had gathered at the village, leaving Rohan to wander by himself. But little did he know, that he wasn't alone.

The shy mare had found herself drawn away from the activity of the humans and other soquilis. Such excitement and activity made her uneasy and a bit nervous, but it was only because she had not befriended anyone. She could be just as happy and active as the next soquili, but she had yet to really be noticed.

She was nestled in a patch of grass underneath a tree, eying quietly the sky and watching as new stars littered the dark velvet like spilled glitter.
Her ears perked at the sound of movement, but she disregarded it.

Heading farther away from the village, Rohan found it much easier to relax and think, with the eerie silence surrounding him. As he continued to walk in an unknown direction, He spotted a large tree from above the hill. Hm. Maybe he could take shelter there for the night? The thought was appealing, and it was a good possibility. However, when he came within closer enough distance to the tree, he noticed the vague outline of someone beneath the tree.

Was it a human, or soquili? Well.. He would know soon enough. Although he couldn't imagine why a human would travel out so far, at this time of night..

Coming closer, ".. A mare?" His voice curious, making out the outline of another soquili. From what he could determine, it was most likely a mare. Because the shape was too small and skinny to be a stallion, with their large size. But what would a mare be doing out here so late? And without a chaperone?..

But than again, it wasn't any of his business either.

Her ears swiveled, listening to the crickets as they filled the silence with their comforting songs. However, they stopped, and she became slightly alarmed when they did not return to their singing.

She lifted her head and looked, but she could see nothing. Of course, she could only see what was immediately around her because of the falling darkness. Someone, or thing, was moving closer and it had frightened the little insects. She thought of standing up and running, but what if it were bigger than she? Surely it could overtake her.. but to her knowledge, there was nothing larger than a soquili.. or rather, a mare soquili. And that thing was a stallion. What would a stallion be doing out here? Possibly the same reason as she, to escape the noise.

She turned her head again and let out a soft whinny, hoping for a comforting response.

"Relax. I'm not dangerous." Whinnying softly in response to the mare, as a little smile settled upon his face.

He was about to comment on something before noticing the slightly alarmed look in the mare's teal colored eyes.. a different shade of green from his own. Did he alarm the mare? But than again.. The sound of hoof steps in the falling darkness, when one though they were alonewould be alarming to anyone. "I apologize if I've frightened you.." Came his low voice, pausing momentarily before he began again.. "I was just trying to find a peaceful spot myself."

"And what about you?" His mane blowing with the breeze, As he tipped his head to the side a little.

Amberli stayed on the ground, her legs tucked comfortably underneath her as the stallion approached. She eyed him suspiciously as he spoke, studying his features.

"I am quite ... new. I have yet to befriend anyone, and the celebrations were, ah, a little unnerving." She tossed her head a little to shake her mane from her face. "I took to this spot; it's close to the village, yet secluded. If I need to run from Soquili hungry creatures, I'll be close to everyone."

She couldn't help but smile a little bit, then whinnied quietly in a relaxing gesture, her body no longer in an alarmed posture.

Night was falling fast, and the darkness enveloped the sky at a relatively fast pace. One could hardly see the orange-yellow glow of the setting sun anymore.. But Rohan gladly welcomed the night sky, and the darkness it provided. Turning his attention back to the mare at hand, He chuckled at the discreet observation, "Ah. A cautious creature you are than.. I think I'll find myslef in good hands." His voice light, but he found his own neon-green eyes studying her. It wasn't often that one would encounter such a innocent mare.

"Would you mind if I sit here?" Gesturing with his head a little to the left, near the tree. "I promise I won't eat you.. But if theres any danger, you can always calls on the villagers for help." His voice slightly teasing, yet mocking, as he settled himself down on the grass. It was polite to ask permission, but not necessarily, Rohan knew.

The crickets resumed the chirping nearby. It was obvious that the alarming tension had disappeared, and the mare welcomed it. She smiled a little at his depiction, and tossed her head again, this time simply for emphasis of her features. He was looking at her, but she welcomed it.

"You may relax wherever you desire, of course. However, if I did not want you here, it would be obvious." Her chubby little horse's lips twitched into a grin.
"Now, if you attempted to eat me I would have to feed you with my hooves first." She snorted and eyed him again. "I believe everyone would indeed be frightened to have a cannibal amongst the village."

"Ooh, Backbone." Pretending to be offended by the statement, his eyes gleamed with a twinkle of amusement.

"But than we both know that whether you want me here or not doesn't matter, because if you had refused, I would have stayed anyways?" His voice well-mannered but distant and deep. His eyes flickered back at the mare before gazing off to the bright lights of the village once again. He honestly couldn't care less for the opinion of others. "It's a fairly decent shelter that can last me up until tomorrow, anyhow." After tomorrow, He would most likely be heading off somewhere else.

Her snort catching his attention, "Trust me." With a dry voice 'I don't think I'll like the taste of hooves.." Pretending to ponder the taste thoughtfully. "I doubt it would taste good anyhow.. Especially considering the things a soquili steps on." GLancing meaningfully at her hooves, "But if you like the idea, you could eat your own hooves?" His expression and voice, entirely too innocent.

She snorted again, but the snort became a soft chuckle. "I am careful where I step, however I do agree that hooves would not be tasty."

At this statement, she lowered her head a nibbled at some dew laden grass. She plucked gently with her lips and chewed thoughtfully.

"I could, however, gladly munch on vegetation! Now, without thinking of everything that has existed on this grass, I will say it is quite yummy. Much more so than hooves, do you agree?" Her teal eyes blinked at him slowly, her lashes fluttering on her cheek bones.

Blinking in surprise at the unusual, didn't all soquilis eat grass, or some sort of vegetation? That certainly was.. an odd question to ask another soquili.

"I honestly couldn't care either way." He said politely, giving her a shrug. As long as the food was edible, Rohan didn't give a damn about food. Added on the fact, that he wasn't particularly hungry either. Settling his head upon his hooves, he was oblivious to the lash fluttering.

Maybe he should get some sleep? The next day promised to be a long one.

She made a deep rumble in her throat of content, and again she shook her head. Her main was often falling into her eyes, despite how short it was.
She looked towards him, "Tired? Well, it is getting dark out. What is your name?"

She realized neither of them actually knew each others' names. Maybe he didn't have one, which is why he hadn't asked sooner. She hoped she didn't offend.

Her tail swished lightly. "I am called Amberli."

Still awake, and on guard.. He shifted into a position where he could see the mare. Rohan took a few minutes to respond to her answer, because he didn't like to speak much, if he could help it.

His neon-green eyes pierced hers before answering, "It's not necessary for use of names." Came the soft, low tone "Names are only a word that soquilis want to call themselves.. but I think stallion or mare will suffice quite as well." He said calmly, cutting straight to the point. The statement wasn't intended to offend, or hurt the mare.. It was just a simple matter of truth. That was all.

Letting his words sink in, There was nothing but silence in the air. Indeed, this mare was unfortunate as to have stumbled.. or encounter Rohan. Many had remarked that his unkind, yet uncaring attitude could make a foal run, and a mare cry, from his cutting remarks. Personally, Rohan thought that Tact was ridiculous. It was better to be forward than to hint at a person's meaning.

"Do you have anything else to say?" He said with a minimal amount of courtesy, before going back to sleep.

Her ears swiveled, then laid back against her head. How rude, came her thoughts. But then again, she was half expecting a similar reply.
"Well, Stallion," she replied tartly, "I believe names provide customization amongst a herd. That way, not everyone is the same."

She didn't mind too much his thoughts or opinions. They were, after all, opinions. If he did not have a name, or did not wish to share it, it was fine. It was also fine if he was a bit rude with his statements. Of course, she understood it was not intentional rudeness. Just.. ignorant rudeness.

She mimicked his posture and found her head nestled into the grass.

"I do not." Sleep was indeed a good thing, and the crickets easily lulled her into it.

It was obvious by the mare's tone of voice, and her tart reply, that she thought Rohan rude. But someone else's opinion of him, rarely if ever bothered him. He was so used to their insults, and whispers that it no longer affected him. Afterall, it was not entirely his fault, that he had developed this sort of attitude. Not that he regretted it, of course. It suited him perfectly fine.

Indifferent to her attitude, He didn't bother to reply to the mare, because he knew that she had already fallen asleep. With a cool dis-attached interest, He lifted himself off the ground before heading to the top of the hill, to look down upon the villagers, and their fading excitement. It was still very crowded and noisy, but not as much. His eyes scanned the crowd for any familiar faces, and he spotted one or two here and there.

The dark sky was enveloped in bright, shimmering stars and the pure white moon. Ironic.. As his lips curved in a wry smile. How many times had he stared at this night sky? Probably a dozen times a night, back than..
