Home, sweet home. Well, sort of. These lands alone were her home. She had been born and raised in them, until she had made the decision of her life. She went to the hyena Graveyard. There were a lot of stories about that place, but Kai, so far, had not really seen any of them to be true. However, the hatred for lions there was huge, and she could easily see why. Still, she kept an open mind.
"Hmmm.. I wonder where my dad could be. Surely he's with momma." Kai had to giggle for a second. "And now I'm starting to sound like Tibuka. Oh geez." She smiled to herself, remembering Tibuka. Such a dear hyena he was.

Mottled shadows passed over the ground as the male moved, his gentle eyes watching the world around him. It had been a while since Abayomi had come back to these lands, he'd been traveling with Peni around, which gave the two of them some time together since her daughters had gone off on their own.
Deep down inside Aba had to admit that he missed hearing the three girls running around and causing mischief. He'd never really gotten to know them all that well when they were younger and he regretted that fact, however they hadn't been his and naturally had been a good bit wary of 'mommy's new mate', even if he HAD been around with their mother when the three of them were born.
Now Pukukino and Kailasa were gone and Sauda had left long before them, to where he didn't know, however Peni had told him not to worry, that all her daughters were strong because she was. Not that Abayomi hadn't known that before, their mother was the strongest female he'd ever had the pleasure of meeting, one that he loved endlessly.
Maybe that was why.
As he kept walking, lost deeply in his thoughts, Aba completely missed the branch coming up and smacked into it unceremoniously, crumpling down onto the ground with a look of shock and pain.
"Ouch..." He muttered with a short laugh for his own inconvenience.

Kai's ears swiveled around. What had that noise been? It sounded like a combination of an animal along with something hard... Like a rock or a tree. Turning around slightly, the gray female scanned the area. She couldn't really see anything, so for her own safety, she got down in the grass and started to stalk about, listening for the noise again.
Surely it wasn't a hyena following her from the Graveyard, was it? Nah. None of the hyenas there would of cared. Then Kai thought that over. Tibuka would probably of followed her, had he seen her. So, chances are that he didn't.
What was that noise then?

Rubbing his now sore pink nose with his white paw, Abayomi rolled his tri-bald shoulders and trotted off once more. The hyena wasn't in search of anything in particular, but he also wasn't in the mood to stop for some reason. Maybe it was just an unfailing need to keep walking, or simply because he'd done so for a large majority of his life.
Of course now he was happily in love with Peni and he would never wish to leave her side, but Aba still desired to go out and bring smiles into the world. It was something that ate away at him until he went and finally did it. So once a month he'd wander the surroundings and do his quest in his own way for a week, and always ended up back with Peni.
Sniffing roughly to make sure that his nose still worked despite it's contact with the branch, Aba let out a happy sigh peered around. He could have sworn he'd heard something.

At first, Kai had seen nothing, nor heard another sound, so she relaxed a bit. However, she did smell something in the air. The more her nose went at it, the more she realized what the smell was. Yes, it was another hyena. That, she was sure of. However, this smell was a smell that she had known all her life, and a smell that she greatly treasured.
Her foster father, Abayomi.
He was such a kind and loving father, even if he wasn't her real dad. Sure, she looked nothing like him, but she couldn't of asked for a better father. So, now that she knew exactly who it was, she stayed low in the grass, easing her way over to him by sniffing him out. With luck, she'd be able to sneak up on him and pounce, scaring the wits out of him!
Yea... That'd be a ton of hyena fun.

Lifting his head up to the air, Abayomi narrowed his eyes at a certain scent, but he wasn't sure of exactly what it was. The scent that he was used to was there... but it wasn't? It had morphed to include that of others.
This was to be expected of one of Peni's daughters, especially the one that he was smelling on the wind. Kailasa had always been a decent hunter, but he wished he'd taught her how to slide further downwind. She would learn, at least she was better than her hotheaded sister Pukukino had been.
Letting a smile grace his mottled muzzle, Aba strode forward as if he didn't sense a thing, his expression hadn't changed even a hair, he was used to this sort of thing after all. In order to not frighten those hiding from him he had to learn to keep his expression frozen and just keep walking, appearing as if nothing had happened. Let Kailasa just try.

So far, so good. Aba didn't seem to notice her yet. Moving just a hair here and there, she managed to inch her way behind him, still following his scent trail that he was leaving behind. She had always been pretty good at this sort of thing, so she was pretty happy when Aba didn't seem to notice her. After all, she had already figured out that she had been downwind from him.
Bad, bad idea. Good circumstances though.

Hiding a smile at his foster daughter's skill, Abayomi kept stock of her movements by recognizing the pattern he himself would have taken behind something. She'd slid back into his blind spot so that he would be forced to swivvle his ears to hear her and she would notice, giving her enough time to freeze and cease all noise, as well as keeping herself downwind so she could smell him but keep him from smelling her. Kailasa really did have a knack for this sort of thing. With a little more life experience she would get much faster at dodging downwind and keeping herself hidden, however it was hard to hide from the one that taught you.
Tilting his head back in an attemp to feign looking at the sky, Abayomi let the hidden smile spread over his muzzle and took a deep breath, his ears that were constantly down in a lazy position flicked backwards for a hairs breadth of a second, long enough to hear how she was moving so that he would know exactly what was coming. He didn't really wish to be taken by suprise, but he figured that he owed his daughter this.
Rolling his broad shoulders, Aba dropped his head down again and yipped happily for the day.

Kai giggled some as her foster father let out a happy yip. She knew that he knew that she was behind him. It was obvious. However, she decided to let it go and to continue to pretend that she didn't know, just as he pretended that he didn't know. Such irony existed here, and it was very hilarious.
However, now was the time. Stalking a little bit closer, Kailasa quickly pounced out of the tall grass and right onto Aba's back.
"Hi, Daddy!!"

The slight male nearly buckled under the weight of his daughter who had now come to be the same size as him. Males were notoriously small compared to females of the hyena species, but Abayomi's size was slight even for male hyenas and as such his daughter's weight was almost too much.
However the male forced his well muscled legs to hold himself upright and he turned his head back to look at Kailasa only after he let out a yelp of suprise and set all of his fur on end. Laughter danced in his welcoming brown eyes as Aba looked back at her.
"Hey girlie, where have you been all this time?" Abayomi's warm voice poured from his muzzle as he licked the end of Kailasa's nose, smiling with his shockingly white teeth and chuckling at how much fun it was already to see his daughter again.

Kailasa giggled as Abayomi licked her nose. She hadn't felt that touch in a long, long while. She had truly missed her father, as well as her mother. She already had plans to stop by and see her before she left for home again. Her parents were her life, and she wanted to see them as often as she could.
"Where have I been? What about you?", she giggled some more, bouncing back off of his back, smiling up at him as she landed on her paws gracefully. "If you REALLY want to know though, I've been with the Graveyard pack. I've made some new friends and I've been accepted into the pack!"
She smiled proudly, as she was sure that her parents never though a sweet hyena like herself would of ever been able to get into the Graveyard pack. It seemed practically impossible, but clearly wasn't.

The smile on Kailasa's face as she said that moved him and Abayomi wasn't one to even think badly of a single decision in any being's life. Least of all his daughter. Overjoyed that she'd found her place to call home as he had, Abayomi licked her ears brightly and gave a happy yodel-like yip up into the air as the only expression of his happiness for his daughter he could think of other than words.
"I'm glad you could find the place you belong. As long as your friends treat you right I suppose I won't have to come and start any rucus." As Aba said this he winked, knowing that she would understand or at least hoping that she would understand, the joke.
Kailasa, the best scout and hunter of the three of Mtupeni's daughters. She would become a very good member of such a pack, most likely keeping many of her pack-mates safe from both lions and just large cats in general. Fast on her feet and not quick to judge, she would be ideal.
Thinking of his daughter being happy and having a good post within the Elephant Graveyard completely washed away any fear that he might have had for her safety. With Mafa there it was almost garunteed that all those within the pack would be safe, Mafa was many things but a bad leader was not one of them.
