The older male had been out scouting and in the process had caught himself a fine little male that he was going to keep all to himself! A foolish zebra mare had thought it was safe to give birth away from the herd...well...served her right now didn't it? Mind you, he hadn't come out without a good gash over his hind leg that had stopped bleeding when he'd gotten half way back to the pack.
He lay near his large skull den, stretching slightly before he placed his kill between his paws. Nothing hit the spot like a newborn animal and zebra was especially good, no horns and just a lot of tender meat. The male grinned to himself before taking a bite out of it, grumbling softly as he usually did.
He felt like nothing could ruin this day.

Another boring day. Kailasa had not seen sight of her new friend, Tibuka, anywhere. It had only been a day, of course, but still, she missed him. He had been the nicest hyena here, even though she had only met a few all together. Still, she was lonely. Maybe some traveling around would do her some good. Maybe she could find a new hyena to talk to.
And that's when she saw him.
In the distance, a brilliant color caught her silver eyes. A purple mane, attached to a dark gray body. It was a male hyena, and he was chowing down on something. Just watching him eat what ever it was made the female's stomach rumble. Maybe this other hyena would be kind enough to share? It was worth a shot.
So, quietly, she padded her way over, taking slow steps, so as to not frighten or get him upset.

Kimwondo gnawed and chowed down on his meat, his meat and his alone with a large grin on his bloody maw...however as the sound of paws padding against the ground caught his attention, his ears suddenly stood up on his head as he raised his grumbling maw from his kill. As he saw the female, his muzzle wrinkled back in a slight snarl as she watched her closely, rising to his feet as she kept his deep violet eyes on her.
"Who the hell are you?" He snapped, some meat falling from his muzzle as he placed his forepaws infront of his kill. He was a male, large, experienced...and it was obvious he wanted an excuse for being snuck up on by this young whippersnapper.

Kailasa was taken aback at first, but held her ground. She had gone through this plenty of times, and she needed to stop being so afraid of everything that stood against her.
"My name is Kailasa. I'm a new scout here in the Graveyard." She watched as blood and meat fell from the male's jaws, it looking both delicious and intimidating. "Who the hell are you?", she mocked.
Kai was much smaller than him, but wasn't going to pushed around by him either. She could stand her ground, regardless of her size.

The male arched a brow, looking unimpressed before he snorted slightly at her words before moving back to his kill and taking another lump out of it, which he chewed and swallowed quite slowly, as if to tease her. He knew how hungry this pack, or infact, any pack hyena could get and gave a cruel grin in her direction.
"Kimwondo, a scout like yourself..." He said bluntly before laying down infront of his skull, his paws laying over his kill as he watched her. "And I'm going to assume it was your belly that lead you over here..."
It wasn't as much a question, as he said it in a tone more like he was quoting a fact, ears pinned against his skull and light purple mane as he licked some of the blood from his maw. Waiting for her answer.

"Well... Yes, actually. I am a little hungry..."
She watched as he ate the kill in front of him, and she heard her stomach rumble once more. It looked so good, and it was only getting better and better looking. She hadn't been a hungry just a little while ago, but watching another hyena eat was like torture for her.
"Ummmm.. Kimwondo.. May I... You know.. Have a bite..?", she asked hesitantly, easing herself towards him some, still a bit unsure.

Kimwondo stared at her, snarling as she got closer and standing up slightly, a sign for her to back off as he watched her closely with his sharp, emotionless eyes. He pondered whether to give her even one scrap, the little worthless female...then again, as long as Mafa reigned she'd probably want as many females in the pack as possible. The male let out a long, aggrivated groan and then ripped one of the hind legs off his kill with the bone crunching jaws his species had inherited.
The sound was awful, the joint popping and snapping out of place before he stood there with it in hand and then threw it towards her with a flick of his head. Watching as it landed infront of her.
"Eat up." He said bluntly before sticking his muzzle into his kill once more.

Kai had backed away as the male snarled and stood up, giving her the evil glare, even though his eyes had no real emotions to them. Still, she respected his wishes and backed off, as she didn't want to end up like his kill. However, when he seemed to of remember something, his whole attitude changed, a manner of speaking. He ripped off a hind leg of his kill and then tossed it to Kai, her backing up even more when it just slammed down onto the ground.
Her silver eyes showed much thanks as she smiled at the gray and purple male, her head dropping down to instantly start ripping the meat apart. It was so, so good.

Kimwondo gnawed and chewed the meat of his kill, paws draped over the carcass as he kept a steady eye on the younger female and as he swallowed another chunk he felt the need to lift some of the tension. If he was apart of this pack he might as well have gotten to know some of the member...however reluctant he might've been.
"So..." He started. "What made you join our...humble, pack?"

Kai dug into the meat some more before looking back up at the gray and purple male who had given her this delicious meet. She licked her chops after swallowing, blood tasting so good.
"Well, it's a long and weird story." She took a second to lick her chops yet again. "I joined to merely get away from home, as I wanted to be on my own. However, I didn't expect to like it so much here, as this is not a life I'm used to."

Kimwondo arched a brow at the young female, the thought of actually someone CHOOSING to join the pack and stay in this rotten place of bones struck him as odd...sure hyena's had been living here for years. The Elephant Graveyard was the legacy of hyena's in the beggining, when old families came to feast on the wonderful meat of dead and dieing elephants. He however, did not share the optimism of this place.
The male chose to hunt fresh, young meat...he'd learnt while living on his own for several moons and as Kailasa finished her words he gave another rude snort, swallowing down the meat as he licked his chops of the sweet blood that smothered it. He then looked over her for a moment before rolling his deep purple eyes.
"I guess some hyena's have to be positive about living in this place." He said bluntly before licking over his paws.

Kai couldn't help but to smile a little bit. Maybe it was just her, but she was seeing some possible liking here. Of course, not the type of liking where you started a family, but more so of the liking where you accepted someone for who they were. To Kai, that meant a lot.
"Of course. Otherwise, with a pack of negative-thinking hyenas, you could be overthrown. It may help to have a positive hyena, just to have someone to go to for reassurance, or something like that, you know?"
Her own paws gripped the meat that she had left over. However, since she wasn't done, she didn't care about them. So, she buried her muzzle into the bloody flesh once more, ripping out a good chunk.

For once the old male had to arch his brows, he agreed with a female...a female! He felt as if his esophogus just got closer to his stomache and swallowed down the ugly lump in his throat, before he shook himself and shrugged towards the younger female.
"I suppose so...it'll be good for the packs ethics...that and with Mafa's beautiful tempermant stinking up the place, we could use someone with a smile that isn't forced."
What the hell was he saying? Happiness was just a wall to be smashed down by worthless scum, scum who didn't care about you and only for your sisters who beat you sensless every damn day! As the memories flooded back he bit into the meat and started to shake and tear into it, taking out all his rage on his food.

The gray female chewed up her food delicately and swallowed it, blood trickling down her throat, making her yip with excitement as it both tickled and refreshed her. She smiled as she looked at Kimwondo, thinking that he was just funny to be around. He didn't like to admit being wrong, and when it came to agreeing with her, he seemed to hate that even more so.
"I don't know much about Mafa.. But from everything I've ever heard about her, she seems to be the type of ruler that will bite you as soon as she's agreed not to. I could be wrong though."
She looked at the male for a second, still pondering over his purple mane and tail. Then, trying to seem like she wasn't staring, she bit back down into her delicious meat, gnashing her teeth to get through the tough parts.

The male forgot his anger as he returned to eating, sighing angrily, dammit...so many bad memories...so many awful memories...of his damn mother and his damn sisters. He let out a small growl as he chewed and then cocked his head to the side as the female spoke before rolling his eyes.
"Nope, you pretty much hit the nail on the head there." He said, ears flopping forward as he stretched himself and looked up at the murky sky of the graveyard and snorted. He then turned back to her and got up, shaking himself before he moved a step closer to her. Even through the murk he could see the sky was darkening and watched Kai' closely.
"Oi, it's getting late, you best get back to your den." He said bluntly as he stood there. "You can keep the meat."
