A beautiful mate.

Three beautiful baskets.

How could life be more complete?

Twilight could be seen walking merrily across the glittering snowscape field, a small bag of grains and apples in his mouth he'd received from the native tribe a distance away from their cave. In exchange for a bit of labour on his behalf, Twilight had received care for his wounds - all of which had healed leaving scars across his once perfect ebony coat; as well as food and baskets for when their children had been born not long ago.

He knew they couldn't stay here forever, the winter season was far from over here and they could only rely on the two legged for so long. They failed in finding Cosette's parents...yet they did find their love and now the love of three foals. Perhaps it would be best to head back down to the lowlands to ensure the safety and well being of their family. Yes....they'd have to make the journey before the storms rolled in again.

Not to mention...Twilight had been getting tired of heading down the mountian to find a suitable source of water. Looking down to his hooves, his eyes widened only slightly to still see the blood stained on his legs; leaving imprints on the snow. Of course, to anyone else - they were as clean as before. Hidden inside....something was snapping slowly in the stallion; something his family would never come to realize if he could help it.

Dropping the bag for a moment, he furiously tried to scrub his legs against the cold snow. Scrub, Scrub, scrub! It was the only words that registered in his mind as his eyes took on more of a psychotic look while he 'rid' himself of his sins. As soon as his legs were efficiently frozen, matted and of course soaked he grabbed the bag and settled his composure; heading back to the cave where his family waited. Unfortunately, the blood which left rusty stains in his long locks refused to come out with even the most persistant of scrubbing. As the cave came into view, he began to trot a bit faster through the snow; eager to see his family.

----------*-----------

It was dark. Really dark.

Trying to peer through the small holes in the whicker basket, Zevach could hear the small noises of other things and the brightness of the outside world. Last night he'd heard the angsty cries of something large and closeby....yet he'd heard nothing else through the previous nights. Snorting softly, he'd wondered why he was forced to stay in confinement when it was so obvious there was a whole other world outside!

Frowning as his temper seemed to flare, the young colt opened his mouth qith a squeak, before realizing he was capable of making noises! As the furstration began to build, so did his movements as his hooves kicked at the inner walls of the basket. Soon enough, his frustration ended up breaking his leg out from the basket - stuck as the cool air rushed against his limb.

"M....MMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

There were something going on out there. Sleepily the little girl's ears twitched, the darkness surrounding her and giving her comfort. The innocent little foal had no idea about the world outside of the basket - in here she was warm, she was comfortable, and familiar voices could easily be heard. They comforted her and were comforting. . . .

What more did she need?

Settling herself again, hearing nothing out of the ordinary, the girl closed her eyes to resume a nap.

But then there it was again. A strange rustling rollowed by a muffled squeak. Frowning, frustrated at all the noise, the little girl wanted to know what was going on. She put the connection that there was darkness out their. . . it never occurred to her to wonder where the voices came from. They were just that - a voice!

But instinct tugged upon her spirit. Something told her that there were foreign noises within the darkness that needed to be discovered! Whatever was rustling, whatever was moving, the great unknown barrier needed to be broken. Unlike her struggling brother, all the leggy foal needed to do was stand.

Stifling a yawn, the girl sat up, her neck lowered so as not to brush the ceiling of her enclosure. But there was more to it than this, wasn't there? Whatever was within the darkness needed to be discovered. . . .

The exotic noice called "M. . . MMMMMMMMAAAAA!" had to dealt with!

Pushing her head against the basket, fully expecting to struggle, it took but a bit of pressure before the top of the basket popped off and cracked open.

Freezing cold air hit the filly's face dead on as well as a bright light! Given, the cave wasn't that bright, but her eyes were accustomed to the blackness that often enveloped the basket. "EEEP!" Her voice worked, surprising the girl further as she quickly went back in to hiding and huddling within her basket.

The lid shut promptly with a rustle. . . .

And there she waited.

Something was really weird out there. . . It was cold and blindingly bright.

Maybe. . . . maybe she'd rethink this idea.

It had been very much a dream to the arctic mare, till the night before.
She had come up the mountains with Twilight in hopes of finding her family. They had been attacked by two-leggers and their dogs, and they both suffered injuries. But then they arrived to this cave and confessed feelings, and a few days later she was pregnant.

It had to be a dream, because Cosette couldn't believe it would happen to her so soon into her adulthood.

However, she awoke from that dream last night to find that it was all real when it had been time to actually birth those in her womb. One painful way to realize it was all reality, that was for sure. Cosette had heard of older mares wishing for three children, happy with their two but always wanting more. It was a huge shock to the white and blue hued mare that she had carried three foals, despite being young. The night before after the foals had been placed in their baskets, she had flipped her mane proudly (though weakly), a bit cocky over the fact that she and Twilight had conceived three children.

It wasn't a bad reality to wake up to, really.
Cosette was overjoyed that she was very much in love with her best friend-turned-mate, but to be pregnant to early in on the relationship... And carrying the foals was not the best part of the dream, with all the discomfort.

The mare frowned in her sleep as something loud pierced her ears. She snorted a bit, lifting her head as she began to stand up slowly, yawning. Her crimson eyes were still shut, unwilling to open, not recognizing the sound. As soon as realization hit that that wasn't the sound of a bird, and that it could possibly be one of those canines...

Her eyes opened immediatly and began to search the cave, first landing on her baskets to see if they were alright. Her heart nearly stopped as she saw that two fo the baskets had begun to open, one foal still sleeping in his. As fast as her tired hooves would carry her, Cosette scrambled over to the baskets and nudged the greenish one first, the one with the leg sticking out of it.

"T-Twilight!" She shouted, lifting her head away momentarily. oh, would that stallion hurry up? His kids were coming out! She looked back to the greenish basket expectantly, but her eye caught the ajar cover to the lightes basket. She grinned widely and nudged that one too, encouraging her foals to come out.

"C'mon, you're almost out! Mommy wants to see you~" She crooned, giddy. Her head felt light, elated.

She turned her head to the darest basket and gave it a concerned look. After seeing it shake, she practically jumped for joy.

-----------------------

Who was making such ridiculously loud noises?

The little colt in the darkest basket made a low grumbling noise, too annoyed at whoever was in the world outside for waking him up to realize he was actually using his vocals. His bi-colored eyesopened and could only see the dark interior of his basket. Scared of the darkness in his container, He tried to get himself on his own four legs. They shook beneath him weakly, not sure how to actually stand.

He nudged the top of his basket top, expecting it to move with ease. It didn't, and he made a grunt of frustration as he pushed harder against it. He felt it move, and ecouraged, he continued pushing it, craning his small neck upwards and to the right. The top nearly slipped off his basket, and at the different lighting, he winced.

He slowly lifted his head out of his basket, an at the sight of the large mare, he immediatly ducked back into his basket.

Who was that?

As he trotted closer with the food in maw, Twilight squinted slightly to see motion in the cave - it seemed Cosette was up and att'em now. However, he wasn't expecting to hear the yell across the quiet snowy plains....it seemed urgent; when it hit him.

The foals....they must be hatching!

Moving into a gallop as the snow kicked up at his heels, he wouldn't miss this for the world....the three little baskets which so dramatically changed his life in an instant. Was this what it was like for Azariel? It must have been....speaking of her, how suprised would she be when she found out that she was an aunt?

Rushing into the cave with a slight pant as he quickly set down the bag of apples, he moved over to Cosette with a curious look before laying eyes on the struggling leg sticking out from one of the baskets. Immediately glancing to the other two baskets, he noticed one was partially open on the top, while the other had wiggled a bit. Gently pushing the baskets together, he wanted to be able to see all of them at once!

"This is really happening, isn't it?" Twilight could only grin in pure excitement, they were officially going to be parents! Looking to Cosette, he nuzzled her tenderly....it still was hard to believe that things had happened so fast. A strong friendship moving to a relationship, to foals!

Peering inside the darkest basket, he noticed the lid was a bit off....and could spot the colt hiding down in the darkness. Smiling with the utmost pride gleaming in his eyes, he poked his nose in to give his son a little nudge on the forehead. "Welcome to the world...my boy. C'mon out....its safe!" Next, he moved his head to nudge the lightest basket....if memory served right from the birthing, this one was a little filly. "Wake up, baby girl....come see your momma..." Grinning to Cosette, he knew she was more than excited to see her children - just like he.

However, the last one brought a bit of concern....it seemed this one was quite rambunctious as yet another hind hoof cracked out of the basket wall....heck, the basket was hustling almost violently now! "Oh my...." He raised a brow and sniffed at his second son's hoof, barely evading being kicked in the face.

-----------*-------------

Another out!

Squirming and kicking at his confinement, he could hear the voices of others more clearly now! Yet the question in his head was why were they not helping him!? Didn't they see his struggle, probably not, so Zevach did one of the only things he knew would get their attention. He made a ruckus.

"RAAAAAAAAGGHHH. Eeeeeiiiiihhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!"

Whinnying and letting out a hoarse demi growl, the small dark teal colt thrashed his body to the side as he effeciently ripped the side of his basket while his legs ripped open the other side. The cold air and light entering the enterance of the cave burned at his eyes and chilled his body, but he seemed not to mind too much as he pushed his body up onto his wobbly legs as ruins of his basket lay at his hooves; the lid balancing on his head.

Shaking off the lid, his brilliant ruby orbs opened wide as he looked around to the world he so eagerly wished to enter...taking notice of two rather large beings before him....their voices registering in his memory. Was these two...his parents? They must be, or else why would they be here? Snorting softly, he glanced to the other two baskets beside him....were they also stuck? One was slightly open, the other still closed. It must have been sealed tightly too! Without much attention paid to his parents at the moment, he moved over to the lighter basket, effeciently stomping his little hoof through the lid of the basket (luckily not hitting his sister!) Before freaking out and flicking it off just as fast with a suprised yelp.

Attention quickly shifting, he peered into the basket at the light sky hued filly and gave a bit of a whinny....almost rudely shoving his face into hers as he touched their noses for a closer inspection!

The noises only seemed to get louder, the muffeled voices growing close. The deep familiar voice close to her basket was forgotten about as soon as whinnying shriek was heard. There was a strange sort of crackling crunching sound that followed. . . whatever was out there was something Eponine could do without!

She was perfectly content in her basket, yes, yes, yes.

She'd wait for the noises to die down before investigating, when things were quiet. Settling contently within, she heaved a sleepy sigh as she listened to the noise out there. Whatever was out there sure needed a lesson in silence! Maybe if she took another a peek around, maybe if she -

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The scream, though a bit weak thanks to her baby vocal chords was genuine. In a flash there was a crack and stomp as a foreign hoof slammed down in to her little home, positively terrifying the little foal! Before she had a chance to properly investigate, the entire roof of her basket had been ripped off, cool air and light overwhelming the already frightened little filly!

Huddling as close to the back of her basket as possible, she hardly had time to figure out why her basket had broke (and where that hoof had come from) before a teal face poked through the blur of light before her. Blinking fast, eyes adjusting to the small cave, the little blue filly just stared. . . .

Was this who was making all that noise?

She couldn't exactly see past the teal colt's face, and had forgotten about the big things standing nearby. All she knew was this was someone, something, that had been out there. "M-m-momma?" She questioned, reaching out ever so shyly to poke her nose a bit harder against the colt.

Teal eyes met red and all the filly could do was stare.

She didn't dare move, still concerned that another hoof would come down out of no where and shake up her little world a second time.

Cosette could barely feel the touch of her mate's nuzzle as excitement raced through her system, only returning it slowly as her attention was mainly focused on her children. "Y-yeah...!" She responded, swallowing as it registered. She watched him peer into the darkest basket and nudge the lightest, a warm smile on her icey-colored face. She flushed at the word "mama" and tossed her mane proudly, wanting to playfully kick her mate if it weren't for the fact well, she was a mama now.

Her attenton was immedialy drawn to the crack of the greenish-blue basket, and she took a step forward in response. That one was certainly a fighter! She only laughed at the foal's loud noises (though conerned, wondering if that was normal), as he kicked his way out of his basket. Her mouth fell agape a bit, and her knees trembled as she saw the first of her foals. She had seen them of course when they were born, but she was tired and worn...

The little colt didn't seem to mind much attention to either her or Twilight (which offended her a bit) as he went to kick his sister's basket.
She frowned discouraginly, wanting to raise her voice against the newly hatched colt. She couldn't find her voice to do it though, ad the voice of their filly entered her ears.

She took a few steps forward and nudged her colt away from he filly, taking time to nuzzle his face, "Hey..." She crooned before looking to the light-colored filly.

"Momma's here, along with daddy~" She giggled, glancing to Twilight and flicking her tail playfully before looking back to the newly hatched foal. She nudged her nose against the little one's own, smiling widely.

However, her attention drifted to the last basket, which was ajar and a snout was sticking out. She almost snorted as she laughed.

"Twilight, looks like he's coming out too."

The black and teal colt snorted, mimcing his mother. He did it on impulse, trying to find the strength to stand up. He turned his bi-colored eyes over the large stallion, eyes wide with awe. That... Was his dad? His own mouth fell open a bit as she forced himself to try and stand up. His back legs came up first, wobbling, while he tried to stand on his front two. The basket lid slid off, and he made a noise of displeasure as he was now vulnerable to the world outside his cozy basket.

He turned his attention quickly over to his siblings. He focused more on the girl-looking one, not very fond of the brashness that he could only assume came from the other colt.

"Hey!" Twilight scowled, looking down on the little dark teal colt who seemed to wear a bit of a shocked and impish expression on his face as his mother had nudged him aside and away from the other foal; his sister. "What posessed you to do that.....that was not nice in the slightest, and unbecomming of a young colt. Appologize." Oh how he was against such violence that his son, his very own son seemed to do out of instinct before he could even talk!

"Say Sorry....." He blinked, realizing that their children didn't even have names! Looking to Cosette, he smiled a bit sheepishly. "What should we name them, darling?" He asked a bit timidly, never realizing how much came with being a parent! Names.....they would need to last a lifetime. Something strong, unique....and of course, names which stood out for three amazing foals.

Looking down to the teal colt with a speculating gaze, he remembered a name.....one which had a very bittersweet meaning, yet maybe; just maybe he would be able to bring honor to the name.....to be able to overcome and surpass those ideals.

"Say....how about Zevach for this one?"

Turning next towards the darker colt like himself, he couldn't help but see the same passing down of the genes of his father, to him, and now....to his son. Kale....father. Would he be proud of him too, like he'd been for Azariel? Leanding down his head and fondly nibbling at his ear while nudging the hair from his eyes, what a strong soul this one would be, just like Zevach. It was amazing how two brothers could be so different....was he and Kalm so different too?

"This one....he's not as.....rambunctious...." He chose his word carefull with a grin, "Perhaps something with an M?" He thought back to his mother, the one he barely knew. Her name was Marina, it was beautiful, like he could remember from his first days on earth.

----------------------------

Why was momma mad...? And his father? Did he do something wrong?

It had to be, as the colours of all present in the room were similar....this was his family. A mother.....white like an angel with navy markings. A father, dark, with tints of teal, blue and white....many layers. The other colt, whi resembled much like his father with the same darkness to his body while his appendages held cerulean. His sister, a nice natural mix of the light colours their parents shared.

And he....

Looking down at his own pelt, it wasn't like his parents....such a strange shade of teal. Tilting his head slightly as he could only watch from the side as Momma comforted his sister, and father look to his brother with such pride.....it left the little colt wondering where he fit in. 5 wasn't an even number.....it never would be. Biting his lip as his eyes fell to his hooves, the young colt wasn't dumb; the gears of his mind ever turning.

"S......worry." He muttered towards his sister, would that make it better? Could a word really do so much?
PostPosted: Fri Sep 21, 2007 12:15 am

Any uncertainty the little filly had felt was quickly wiped away as a HUGE HEAD leaned down and brushed her brother away. The cogs of her mind worked, realizing that the teal colt who had initially peeked in to her basket was not her mother. That would be the pale white and navy face that leaned down and touched noses with her, that voice familiar and soothing. . . . .

Only then did aqua eyes move from Cosette to study the large, dark form behind her. If she had thought her mother as large than this teal male was a giant! At least from her position crouched ever so low. She didn't dare move forward, not quite yet, as his voice began to speak. It was rough, almost sharp, and for some reason he seemed upset? Why. . . . ? Why was he mad?

That was without a doubt her father. She could remember hearing the muffled voice in her basket, vague as the memories were. That voice had always been comforting and gentle, so why had it changed? And on top of that, why was it directed at her brother?

The pale filly's ears twitched as she ducked underneath her mothers chin, pausing to peer curiously at the teal and striped male. Craning her neck, she glanced over her shoulder at the much darker but just as striped dual-eyed sibling that stared at her. She beamed, smiling over at him in greeting, wanting to turn around but noticing that her neck was a wee-bit limited in its motion.

Oh - there was just too much to see and too many to get to know! This world was huge. . . How could they all fit together? There were five of them, and that was an awful big number. Was the world really so huge as to let them all live there? And what would happen if they got to be as huge as their gigantic parents? Would they all still be able to fit. . .?

The naive thoughts raced through her mind as she attempted to take in everything. It was a bit over whemling for the young girl.

Thankfully, a voice broke through her thoughts. An apology? Turning her head back towards her teal brother, the pale girl smiled. All fear was long gone. Stepping out from underneath her mothers head and neck, her steps a bit awkward and shakey, she trotted pointedly up to the teal one and nuzzled and nose sweetly. She mimicked the affection her mother had given her before nuzzling under his chin. "It's okay! I'm s-s-sorry t-t-to." She spoke carefully, attempting to form the words but stuttering and tripping over them. "I d-d-didn't mean to b-b-be so s-scared!"

And wasn't that the truth!

If she hadn't been scared maybe then he wouldn't have had to apologize?

Glancing over her shoulder, not wanting to leave out her other brother, she awkwardly turned around. This walking thing sure was . . . weird. Tail swishing behind her, she was in far too much of a hurry to where her darker brother waited and wound up tripping over her own feet. Eyes wide, she spilled flat on her face, eyes wide and startled.

What. . . . what just happened? How did she get down here so fast?

Glancing up, a hesitant smile crossed her features as she looked from Cosette, to Twilight, and landed on her dark-coated brother. Was . . .was she supposed to be upset by this? Or was she supposed to laugh? The fall hadn't hurt too much, but it had given her another scare.

Hmm. Maybe if she just stayed on her belly for a few minutes her legs would want to work again. "Ooops." Her little voice piped up, a small giggle following.

Cosette hadn't realized that what her dark teal son had done would be considered violent, butt just... A rambunctious act of curiosity? She nodded affirmitatively at her mate's command to their son, hoping to hear the words and her own son's voice say them. Though she should scold him a bit, she was a bit too happy to do so. Her eyes flickered to Twilight as he brought up names, and immediatly her eyes rolled upwards as she thought.

She had caught onto the 'darling', and it had fallen foreign on her ears. Whisking the thought away, she went back deliberating over names.

When Twilight spoke up again, she looked to the insolent colt and thought over the name. Zevach... Certainly sounded rebellious. She giggled and nodded, "Zevach~" She tried it out, listening to it for a second time before nodding.

At the apology, Cosette nearly squealed with joy. She hadn't taken notice to how sullen he had looked, but was quick to react. She brought her nose down to nuzzle Zevach's mane, grinning into it. "Hello Zevach~" It came out as a giggle, playfully nudging him happily. A stunning name for a stunning foal, no?

So one down, two more to go.

She cast her attention over to her darkest foal, biting down on her lower lip. She had noticed he wasn't as.... Active, loud as the other two. She cocked her head to the side and thought. M... A name that started with M. She didn't want to go with something that others would have... He was a special little colt, just like her other two. They ahd to have unique names, just like their parents.

Without thinking, a name rolled off her tongue, "Marius."

She was shocked at how easily the name came to her, and the arctic mare looked over at her mate, "How 'bout Marius?"

Cosette looked down at the filly, and grinned. "Think Marius is a good name for your brother?" She paused after that, giving her daughte ra funny look. She was sorr for being scared? She early laughed, and shook her head. "It's okay honey! Now... What to name you..."

----

The darkest colt watched his brother apologize, brows furrowed as he tried to understand how quiet his brother had gotten. At his "sorry", a small smile tugged at his dark lips before looking off to his sister. She was apologizing too? He pressed his lips thin, flicking his tail as he wondered if he too were supposed to apologize.

But... He had nothing to apologize for.

Why would he apologize? Was it right to say sorry for something? Everything was confuing him now... Looking away he "hmphed" a tad audibly, studying a rock in the corner. An "oops" rang through his ears and he was quick to turn and look over to the source of the sound - his sister.

His eyes flashed with concern, but at hearing her giggle it dissipated. Standing wasn't so hard.... But as for walking...

He's try it out sme other time.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 24, 2007 11:41 pm

Twilight smiles softly as Cosette mulled over the name he'd suggested, yet his attention was more on the look his son had given. He'd never before scolded anyone before...and the stallion didn't know how to take the feeling. He hated causing any form of sadness....yet he knew he'd been doing it his entire life. From his family past, to his new one....was this the course of his life?

Luckily Cosette had stepped in to nudge the young colt, which allowed Twilight the moment to close his eyes and take a small breather to try and calm his rising nerves. It was usually the father's role to be strong; and he knew that this was just one thing to have to adjust to....to make sure his children knew right from wrong....and of course how to fix their wrongs and enjoy the rights.

"Marius..."

He spoke, letting the name settle on his tongue and he realized that it did sound fitting - perfect.

"I like it.....strong name." He grinned watching his daughter and more...energetic son...and wondered what their relationships would be like; would all their kids get along? He could only hope.

Now, their daughter. The more, well, rounded of their foals. She was happy, energetic, kind, warm....just, with a slight speech impediment. Now what name could possibly embody all of these traits? Furrowing his brow in question, he pondered the possibilities.

--------------------------

With wide eyes he stared down his sister as she had come foreward to nuzzle him, her head slipping under his chin. As his face quickly turned a bright scarlet while he gave a huff; the colt whipped his face to the side in a fluster.

"Yeah yeah, whatever."

Really it didn't matter to him wether or not his sister was sorry....even if she had nothing to be sorry about. The only thing that really mattered to him was that everyone seemed to have forgotten about the little mishap already. It seemed that word really was magic, and just by saying it; everyone thought things were back to normal.

It was a very useful thing to know.

Frowning softly, he locked eyes on Marius his newly named brother. Already the proudness his father felt for the colt made Zevach's blood boil! How was it that quiet wimpy stallion gained more attention and praise than he? Flicking his tail irritably, he had a good mind to go over there and show him a one two before his sister once again caught his attention as she ambled over to him. Before they knew it, her legs became tangled as he could only yell "W-watch out!" before he scrunched his face as she biffed it.

Oi. She was sure clumsy, but always smiling, so very....

"Peppy." He spoke....but then there was her uniqueness, none of the family was quite like her. "Eppie...?" Cocking his head to the side, he wondered why he was liking that name. It kinda....rolled off his tongue - and could even with her "vibrating" tongue.

The little filly blinked as she stared down at the ground, eying her unstable hooves cautiously. Why weren't they working properly? She had walked over to her brother just fine! So what had gone wrong, what had caused her to tangle and flop forward with such disgrace? Oh well. Maybe she'd just have to try it again.

Silly smile still on her features, the filly twitched her ears at the call of her teal brother. Peppy? Eppie? Was that . . . wast that her? A glance over her shoulder proved that the call had been directed at her. Eppie? "Ep-p-p-pie?" She sounded the word out slowly with a stammer before her smile turned radiant. "Ep-pie! Eppie! Eppie, Epp-p-pie, Ep-p-p-pie!" Faster and faster she spoke it, giggling as she tripped and stumbled over her name with a sing song voice. A look up at her parents, tail swishing in delight. "EPPIE!"

With new found pride and glee, the girl gave standing a second chance. Swaying dangerously to the side, the little filly eventually managed to make it back to an upright position. Now. . . what had she been up to? Oh yes! Marius! Smile still carved brightly upon her looks, the girl took an exaggeratedly slow step forward. She made sure her hoof was firmly planted before lifting or moving the others. At a snails pace she finally made it closer to Marius, and she reached forward to give him an affectionate nuzzle. There! She'd snuggled them all, hadn't she?

"Eppie."

It was a good word, wasn't it? It was quite fun to say and it was her name. . . . right? Maybe. Two aqua eyes looked brightly up at Cosette and Twilight. Hmm. . . . . . It wasn't very easy to lather her brothers and parents with love and affection when they stood so far apart. A shame they weren't closer so she could snuggle and be snuggled by them all.

That's all she wanted right now.

Love.

Giggle excitedly, the blue touched filly suddenly wanted to run and dance and play! They all had names - well almost (hers had yet to be confirmed) - and it was time to celebrate. There was something about knowing her family was there and they were all together that made the girl ever so happy. She couldn't ask for any more than this. So long as they were together, so long as they had each other, then that was all that mattered.

How lucky she had been to have been kicked out of her basket by Zevach. If he hadn't disturbed her she might have missed out on everything!

Cosette grinned widely when her mate agreed on the name, proud she had picked it out. With a cocky toss of her mane she nuzzled her darkest son lightly, though her eyes fell on the lightest filly. Her brow furrowed as she thought, but then a Zevach's voice broke through her thoughts, and her eyes flickered to him. Eppie? She smiled at her son's suggestion. He was trying to be helpful! She giggled and gave him an encouraging look, but he didn't need it, for his sister was repeating it constantly! She looked over at her daughter and repeated the name for herself.

"Eppie... Eppie.. Ep--OH!" Her voice broke as Marius pushed past her leg, his eyes guarded as he approached his sister. She watched as he looked her up and down, his tail swishing. What could her son suggest?

"Epp. Eppoh. Eponi?" He continued adding letters to the name, cosntantly licking his lips as he found his mouth to be quite dry. He had not spoken yet to his parents, but he did speak to his sister... He wanted to pick her name! "Eponine." He said softly, watching her carefully. He didn't want her to take his brother's name... Zevach was special. He was differently colored. He himself looked like his dad and his ister looked like their mom.

"Eponine!" He repeated, looking towards his father pleadingly. "Marius," He repeated, looking down, "...Zevach." The last name was said hesitantly and he glanced over his shoulder at his brother.

Smiling down at his children, it wasn't hard to miss the pure adoration their filly had for them; the way her eyes lit up when meeting with any member of her family. Tilting his head to the side he knew this was right, everything about this situation fell into place and warmed his heart - simply it was meant to be. Heaving a wonderful sigh as he took a glance from his mate, back to his...youngest son? He wasn't sure whom had come out first, yet the notion really didn't matter to him.

Folding his ears back slightly as his daughter cried out with joy the little name Zevach had been trying to give, Twilight liked it, quite a bit. Although he wasn't sure if such a cute little name would last the mare her lifetime....cute names were nice; but it did need some sophistication for when she was indeed older. He dwelled on the thought like Cosette had, before blinking at the sounds out of her mouth "Epo?" Hmmm, it did seem they were on the right track.

Then it came.

Eponine.

So simple, elegant, and could easily be mixed into Eppie; he'd hated to admit it.....but his sons were genius. A bright grin streaked across his maw, looking into the eager eyes of Marius for some sort of approval. "Eponine it is. Our little girl, and our little Eppie." Taking a step forwards he nuzzled both Marius and Zevach, before glancing to Cosette. "Well, it looks like all is finished now. We have our family.....You, Me, Zevach, Marius...and Eponine." Oh how wonderful it had been to say that. Yet something kept gnawing at the back of his mind....his promises to his other family. He needed to bring it up.

"Cosette....I know this might be soon...but I think we need to move. We can't stay here, for I don't know how long we can rely on the two leggers for food since most of the work is nearly done. Now that we have more mouths to feed; I don't think this is the best place to raise a family." He pressed his ebony nose to her ivory one, a pleasant contrast. "You can meet my family, back down in the lowlands. My father and sister will most definately wish to see you...and of course our new family. We can have an easy life down there, and the kids will be safer there than up here.....what do you think?" He stared into her eyes, those enchanting red orbs he'd found so exotic when they'd first met.....its funny how things turned out in the end.

----------------

Eponine.

He supposed it would work, yet he wasn't thrilled on the fact that Marius had to but in.....feeling the competative nature rise in his chest as Marius was the ultimate rival. They looked similar, both brothers.....in essence, one in the same. Snorting slightly, Zevach's tail flicked irritably, before being a bit suprised at the nuzzle from their father. It was an odd sensation, to feel the reaction of someone's display of affection. It felt nice, and comforting to know that he was loved, despite yelling, dissaproving looks....he was loved.

And that made the colt smile. Even if it was a small one.

His legs were a bit more stable than his siblings, given he'd been restless for as long as he could remember being concious. Walking over to Eponine to test out this revelation, he pressed his head up against her neck, nuzzing like she'd and her father had done before. It was true, the senation had returned! Trotting next over to his parents in a mission, he finally aknowledged their existance and looked up at them with curious eyes as they talked about them moving. He was sure he'd know in a minute, and nuzzled both their legs. On time, the fuzzy feeling had returned. How odd, yet nice.

Yet his gaze wandered to Marius as he spoke their names....and wondered if the feeling was the same for he was it was for the rest of his family. Tentively he walked over, looking his brother square in the eye before nuzzling his cheek against his....a small display of affection before he whipped his cheek away like it was molten lava and jumped aside.

It was the same feeling as the rest....damnit.

The little filly looked about proudly at her brothers and parents. So this was her family was it? And she was now. . . Eponine! That's what they all had decided to call her, though she still liked the name Eppie herself. It was easier to say. Blue fluffed tail swished behind her as she looked about at the world.

It was still colder than her basket but maybe . . . .

Walking carefully, the little female pushed her way between her brothers and moved closer to her parents. She was cold, and her stomach was making funny noises. Did all their stomachs make noise like that ? Possibly. It kind of hurt too, but maybe that was normal. . . . . Right now she just wanted to be uncold!

Her basket had been awfully warm before - what would she give to have that warmth back! The little filly remembered before her fall that it had been rather cozy underneath her mothers neck. Maybe it would still be warm? Pushing herself close to Cosette, the little mare pushed herself between her legs and stood there, waiting. Well. . . . .it was warmer. That was a start.

But. . . . What about papa? He did have awfully long hair!

Nickering softly, she pushed herself through Cosette's legs completely (fumbling only a little) and scampered over to Twilight. Long hair. . .that looked nice and fuzzy! Giggling softly, she threw herself at the hair, and was thoroughly shocked and surprised when she took a trip THROUGH it! She had expected the mass to have been firm and thick. . . instead she was now tangled within it!

Crap.

Still - it wasn't a bad feeling, just weird. She couldn't see much, and it was kind of wet thanks to melted snow, but it made for a good blanket. Maybe she'd just stay cuddled within it for awhile. . . . .

That sounded like a good plan to her.

Cosette smiled proudly at her sons, tossing her mane. Not even a day or so old and they were already so smart! She mentally laughed aloud, though verbally giggles spewed as her duaghter tried to seek refuge in her father's mane. "E-Eponine," She giggled, walking over and using her nose to push aside the attractive long locks, attempting to free her only daughter.

At the sound of Twilight's voice, she looked up to listen, watching him with a large smile. It faded however at his words, and she looked down to her children. They had to leave so soon...? She didn't want to complain, claim that this was her home, but it would be better for the kids.... For them.

She averted her eyes as she thought about it, fidning the contact of their noses quite disracting. "Your family? Ugh," she complained playfully, pulling her nose away and tugging at a lock of his mane teasingly, trying to make light of the situation. "It would be best, I would think. Especially if two-leggers are hnging about..."She shivered at the painful memory of that one day. It still unnerved her, and it felt just like it happened yesterday. She locked eyes with his pleasant dark hued ones, and nodded with a light smile.

"So when do we leave?"

-----------------

Marius gave Zevach an annoyed, confused look when his brother looked him in the eye. What was he looking at? He froze at the contact, and though it felt pleasant he scowled mentally. Was his brother trying to look good infront of their parents? Would they find his act of affection better than his name for their sister?

The colt kept an impasive face as he mulled over it, looking away as his brother backed away. Eponine was the only girl. She'd get the attenion! But what about him?Was it a competition for their parents love?
If so, it was one he was going to win.

However, his thoughts changed as soon as his mother brought up leaving.

"W-We're leaving mama?" He looked at them bother for confirmation. Why were they?
