Finally, a purple ranger!
I've wished for one since I was little!

Actually if you count HanaRangers from Kakuranger and Wolzard from Magiranger, purple has been done. This is the first time its a hero color though. I think he's the best part of Gekiranger. His style and story is interesting and I like his version of GekiTouja the most out of all the gekirobots.

Fukami Gou/GekiViolet is fast becoming my favorite ranger. Just seeing him makes me want to take up Kickboxing too!

Now... we have Gekichopper to look up to, some episodes down the road...

Abarekiller will always be the best character wise to me, and Dekamaster holds the best costume design, but GekiViolet is up there in the all time best rangers and would be on my "dream team" haha.
I'm not really looking forward to GekiChopper, he doesn't seem too interesting to me. I'll give him a chance, but ehh...

Nah, I don't count rangers who just happen to wear purple.
I'm talking about a straight up purple ranger.

I hadn't even finished watching Boukenger yet, but I'm starting on GekiRanger now that I know about GekiViolet.

he's almost funnier than GekiRed. almost. not quite.

I think he is a bit more funny since it feels like what gekired SHOULD be like almost. Gekired isn't really wild-person enough for me. Its too forced on the actor or something. It still kind of works though, so its passable I guess. I don't like gekichopper's abilities too much so far but Ken is a good character. Gekiviolets still my favorite but it feels like he's being pushed aside too much, even during his own little story arch he easily accepts being in the triangle after a little bit.

gekiviolet was pushed aside after his debut. my only problem with Gekiranger is that it seems they have to introduce someone or something new each episode. this meant that gekiviolet, however awesome he was, stood in gekichopper's shadow.

I disagree about Jan. He's funny, crazy, and just a joy to watch.

Yeah, they are kind of doing that. At least we still got some time for them to try and develope characters they already have some more than just introducing more.

Jan is supposed to be a wild person but he just doesn't feel it too often. They give him a more childish feel than really a wild type of person to me. His character is amusing, but he feels more like what Ken is. A bit immature and a goof. Infact beyond the first episode I can't think of any time where Jan has felt really like a wild person instead of just a childish type of character who makes up words.

I actually thought Jan's 'wild' antics were kind of cute, but not annoying for me. In fact, his made up 'Jan-ism' language is kind of fun to say.

It's sad that AFTER Ken/Gekichopper debuted, I just lost interest in Gekiranger altogether... I know I wanted to give the guy a chance, but... It's probably the actor's character that made me, since I've already seen too much of that type: The character who is dumb, careless, etc... BUT has some 'hidden/extraordinary power' within him (wait...this applies to Jan too, doesn't it? ><; ).
I have to agree with GekiViolet/Gou being pushed aside, and seeing the OTHER rangers like Ran and Retsu not getting any attention either. I didn't think that after the arc with Gou's 'werewolf problem' being solved, that they would introduce ANOTHER Ranger almost quickly...

Not sure if I want to go back into it again, only if I hear about it getting interesting. Especially the upcoming episodes of Kensei VS Kenma, and the appearance of BrusaE and the SaiDaiOh mecha.

his Janism is cool and all, but it doesn't make him feel at all wild. It just makes him feel childish, like he has his own baby talk. I mean heck, I can see Jan screaming "Goo-Goo Gaa-Gaa!" as a battle cry >< Him and Ken to me ARE the same for the most part. The only difference is that Kens special ability outshines Jan, who is simply an unbreakable body (which hasn't really been displayed too well yet I think. They all have put up with a lot of stuff. He has nothing standing out on that I think besides one of the first eps)

I can understand pushing another ranger out, but I dislike how all focus is lost from other characters to him now. I notice too that they are keeping ken as the star focus now, and making everyone else revolve around him. Such as retsu having to go with him, gou helping him from the side, the two things with Jan. Its all focusing on him now and not anyone else even if they nudge others near it. I at least like mele is having character development during this time.

As for the upcoming stuff on Gekiranger i'm not really...excited. The Kenma vs Kensei battle should be entertaining but I know it won't go far given Maku has Dorinki and as far as we know none of the kensei have anything beyond Geki and their somewhat abilities.

BrusaE doesn't seem very... interesting. I'd rather learn more about other stuff than add to the mess of stories. It feels almost like gekiranger is doing a kamen rider and their ending is going to tangle up and then quickly fiz away as they rush to finish it for the next series. I hope it doesn't

And SaiDaiOh? Ugh... Just ugh. Ugly design to me. Coloration doesn't hold well. It could be worse for a carrier mecha *cough*revolvermammoth*cough* but I don't like it still. The look, feel, everything is just blah to me. We shall see though how it all turns out.

LMAO! Oh god, Jan saying that... wait, then again the guy DID turn into a child when Ran had to battle against Ruutsu.. >_>;

I just realized while looking at the SaiDaiOh pics, I got a weird... reminder of seeing the Magiranger's MagiKing mecha... Admitingly, when I first saw the pictures, I thought, '.....what the....??' I don't know if I should like it, or not...

The funniest thing when I was looking at the BrusaE pictures, I thought it might have been Ken AS the guy. And, maybe Ken is important because he's the reincarnation of him. Of course, this is just crazy thought, on my part.
I don't blame the actor playing as Ken, but on how the character was written and portrayed is what's making me not watch it. And yes, also on the fact it seems this guy CAN'T handle stuff by himself, and has to rely on other people! ><;
It just sucks that ever since now or something, our Sentai series starts great, but ends up less than spectacular. Even though it is aimed at kids.
Like I said, if Gekiranger doesn't do something to uphold my interest in watching the series, I might as well just continue with watching Den-O and other Tokus instead. In fact, Den-O is the only current Toku show that is holding my interest anyways.

Also... has anybody noticed in recent years, Toku has too many hiring of the 'pretty boy' actors, instead of an actual guy that can ACTUALLY act?? ><;
Seriously...I saw that the actors that played Jan and Rio work in the same boy band company together... >_>;

Jan definitely looks like he came from some boy band. Rio, on the other hand... he's just emo.

They have hired a lot of pretty boy actors, but it's been the trend for a long time now. Liveman hired two singing stars as Red and Blue, and another pretty boy as Green. AbaBlue was also a singer. It's a trend in most shows, Japan or outside, to cast recognizable people in roles. How do you think the late Machiko Soga got all the recognition she had? It's her repertoire...
