RP for The Kat Aclysm, Haisyn Fierra, and later, BlackPidgeot. X3 Oh, and Trelweny too <3 ----------------------------- The young dirty-blonde adult Kitsusagi landed on the grass with a rather ungraceful and abrupt thud. With the way the creature landed, one would have assumed that he had fallen from a rather large height, although any observer in the area who had beared witness to the scene would have said that it didn't look like he had actually come from anywhere at all.
A sharp pain lanced through the youth's left shoulder as he hit the ground. He squeezed his eyes shut, seeming to forget the entire world for a few moments.
"Oww...!!" He whimpered pathetically. The Kitsusagi lay in the grass, wings flopped at his sides, spending several moments trying to reclaim his senses over the pain and recover.
Slowly but surely, the pain subsided and he was able to sit up, burnt-golden eyes finally focussing on the area around him to take in his new surroundings. He noted with a vague curiousity that he could hear a plethora of sounds and that his hearing was particularly sensitive right now. He heard all manner of birds twittering in the trees beyond the meadow he had fallen into. That was something new, at least...
At least he was still in one piece, it seemed. Nothing hurt majorly, which was good - it meant that he had no serious injury. Still, to be sure of that, he quickly checked himself over - relieved that he still had all his limbs. His brother had lost limbs on past encounters with the gate, afterall. But as quickly as his relief came... a horrible fear washed over him as he came to the realization that he was no longer the same at ALL. Instead of hands, he had paws. He wasn't even a human any more.
"No..." He whimpered. "This wasn't supposed to happen! This isn't right at all!"
Another quick look over himself revealed two more discoveries that were just as odd. He had three tails, all of which were the same colour as his hair - dirty blonde. He also had a pair of feathery white and gold-flecked wings, although they did not actually seem like they were connected to his back at all. One quick twitch of them confirmed that they were indeed his, and that they worked.
"Well that's interesting... but how in the world is that equivalent exchange?!" He said aloud to himself, upset and puzzled. How did he end up like this?! And what exactly was he now, anyway? Some strange breed of dog? The next thought that ran through the young blonde alchemist's mind was that he had made a horrible, horrible mistake. Then again, what had he actually been expecting when he had made his bold demand? Not even he really knew...
His request to the gate had been a rather demanding one. Such a long time had passed since his brother's dissapearance now... He had gone on a personal quest of his own in search of his brother, but it was to no avail. Just how much time had passed now, he had forgotten. One thing was for certain, however - he was downright fed up of being alone.
So, he had gone about doing something about it. He had drawn the intricate alchemy wheel required to visit the gate and had activated it with his own blood. Once at it's doors, the youth bravely in front of it, standing tall, angry. He had yelled at the gate doors, demanding the return of his brother for once and for all. The cost of such a thing? He was willing to pay any price, willing to sacrafice anything - whatever the exchange demanded. He had stood there boldly as the arms of the gate surrounded him, completely sucking him in.
But instead of being dumped back in Rizembool, instead being thrown into the world on the 'other side' of the gate, he now sat in a quiet grassy field which seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. Some distance away was a small wooden shack, gentle smoke rising from the chimney. The trees nearby were similar to the ones he had seen before, the leaves showing the first signs of a colder season on it's way. The scenery looked nice, but it wasn't of any real interest to him right now.
His biggest concern was that he had made a terrible mistake, and that something along the way had gone very, very wrong.
“Help!” He called out to nobody in particular. He stood tall on his hinds, desperately looking around him in his state of panic. “Is anybody here? Please, I need help!!” He tumbled down onto his back soon after, not at all used to balancing in his new form just yet. He just shook himself off and got to his feet again, running for the wooden shack on all fours. Maybe there was somebody there who could help him.

It was Al's pounding on the door of the shack that initially caught Bryn's attention as she floated aimlessly across another nearby field of grass. Bright golden eyes that might remind someone indirectly of Ed's peered down from over the roof, distinctly different in their intensity from the elder Elric brother's because of the utter lack of emotion found there. There was the owner of said eyes to consider as well; silver hair and dark clothing, arm-sock clad forelimbs now dangling down over the roof as she peered at the frantic Alphonse.
Then, inconcievably, a spark of something like happiness actually lit those glittering orbs. "You look like Nii-chan! But you're not Nii-chan... so... you must be Alphonse!" Ed had been looking for his brother for a long time now, and of course she knew about it... she'd been helping look for him for Nii-chan! Especially while he'd been gone on that trip.
She flipped over on her back and floated off of the roof, peering down at the slightly altered version of one of the few people in the world she honestly gave a flip about. This was SO cool. And then... without bothering to ask for his consent because he'd probably have too many questions to be answered for them to get anywhere for a long time otherwise... she exercized her handy anti-grav powers and made him float up in the air behind her. "Nii-chan isn't in that little place. He might be in the big one though!"
Her tails swished in the air behind her as she faced the both of them forward and they started moving toward the HQ. She kept about even with him, since it was easier to answer questions when you could see someone, after all. "Nii-chan will be happy! He's been looking for you fooooreeeeveeerrrr."

Alphonse panted hard as he reached the wooden shack and began to loudly bang on it in his desperation. He could definitely hear activity in there, and it piqued his curiousity. He found himself putting his head to the door a moment later, one long ear raised against it, listening hard...
"Ouuufff!!" He yelped suddenly - the door's hinges opened under his weight. Obviously, the front door had not been properly latched shut. The dirty-blond haired Kitsusagi stumbled into the entryway in a heap. "That's the second time I've fallen down today..." He said, more to himself than anything as he sat up again, rubbing his left shoulder. That was really beginning to smart, now.
"How do you do tha---" He never finished his sentence. A loud yelp was caught up in his throat as he felt himself float up off the floor, and he flailed his limbs in fright, not at all liking the new sensation. "Aaaah, help me! Please, please, put me down!!"
He continued to struggle against the levitational forces, uselessly flapping those new wings of his, now. "Can't we talk about this on the ground?" He yelped. "Who's your Nii-chan, anyway?" He had a gut feeling about the answer to his question, but... no, it couldn't be... right?
His mind was now a tangle of questions, and he gave the silver-haired Kitsusagi a pained upset expression. Above all right now, however, it would be a bonus if he could touch the floor again.

Bryna did stop moving... though... she didn't put Al down yet. "Nii-chan? Nii-chan is Nii-chan. Your Nii-chan too, isn't he?" Blink. Oh. A name, right? "Ed Nii-chan! You are Alphonse, right? You wear the same kind of coat, and you look a lot alike, and he said his teacher gave those coats to you... and he's got the metal arm!" Pause. Gasp. "I haven't checked his arm since he got back! What if one of the bolts got loose?" She looked positively mortified.

His mind had been racing with so many questions, it had begun to hurt. That was, until she spoke again. This time, Alphonse could only just stare at her, burnt-golden eyes wide, seeming to have frozen for a moment or two. Being held in the air, being a four-footed canine-like animal, none of that seemed to matter to him now.
"Ed..." He whimpered. "Brother..."
He shook his head abruptly. "Wait - you know where my brother is?" He asked her desperately. "So the Gate put me on the right side after all? If that's right, then, I don't understand..." He pinned his ears back, thinking about that to himself for a moment. "Where are we? What side of the gate is this? And why are we covered in fur?"
Could he use alchemy here, too? He had so many questions to ask the female, but only one needed answering above all else.
"You know where my brother is?!" He yelped finally. "Can you take me to him?" He hadn't expected to encounter somebody who knew his brother so quickly, but this was certainly not a bad thing at all.
Being suspended in the air, though... that was another story.

Bryna tilted her head to the side, curiously. Well... she'd missed Ed while he was gone. So... Al had been away from him for a lot longer. OK, that made sense! She was, perhaps, rather inordinately pleased with having sorted that out.
"Nii-chan is probably at the HQ building... or cousin's house. And Gate? What Gate? Oh... we're in the Realm right now. I'm still not sure about that gate thing... but lots of Before people come here! Like Nii-chan, he had a Before life. You followed him through this Gate thing?" That last one was easy, though. "We're furry because we're Kitsusagi, silly. For some reason I guess it's easier for the souls from the Before places to get put into Kitsu-bodies." She shrugged. That was about all she understood about that particular facet...
"Can you do the paw-clappy thing like Nii-chan?" Guess that answered his alchemy question, too. "Nii-chan did almost-magic! You have the teacher-coat so you learned it too, right?"
But... Well, yeah, she could take Al to him! That's what she'd been doing in the first place. "Why do you think I floated you? It's faster to get to Nii-chan that way. Unless you know how to fly?" Headtilt.

"Wait a minute - before life?" Alphonse blinked, eyebrows raised, seeming utterly confused now. That was beginning to become a rather familiar feeling to him. "No, I think you're mistaken. This is the same life as always. Isn't it? And you're right," He nodded quickly, "I followed my brother through the Gate, but..."
Another question for his arsenal, it seemed. Even though some of his memories were still fuzzy, most of them had been coming back to him lately. With the way the female had spoken and described the 'before-life', he couldn't help but wonder if she was talking about reincarnation. But that couldn't happen, right? People didn't die and live again, he and his brother had learned that one the hard way.
"Kitsu... what?" The word was completely foreign to him. He was about to ask more, but then Bryna asked him about 'the paw clappy thing'. "Ah! you mean alchemy?"
A smile promptly grew across his face. If she knew about alchemy, then he might be able to use it in this world! At least that was one question answered. "It's not magic, though. Alchemy is just a simple exchange of elements. To obtain anything, something of greater or equal value must first be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of equivalent exchange." He promptly glanced around the floor for something harmless to transmute, but then realized he wouldn't be able to do such while still in the air. Darn.
"Huh?" He blinked, then shook his head. "No, I can't fly..." The thought of doing such was foreign to him right now. "I'll tell you what, though." He grinned suddenly. "We can make a simple exchange now. Take me to my brother, and I'll show you some alchemy. Does that seem like a fair trade to you?"

Bryna paused and looked curious for a moment, the confused, then shrugged. "You can ask Nii-chan. Or maybe we can take you to talk to Kitsyn later. I don't really know how it works."
"Kitsusagi," she corrected automatically, though she wasn't really paying attention because she saw something shiny on the floor. Ooh. A marble! She floated down and scooped it up to roll it from paw to paw. The offer to show her some alchemy cause her to perk back up and look at him though. "Sure! Though... I'd take you to Nii-chan anyway. Didn't I say he wants to see you? He's been looking for you for a loooong time. Longer than I've known him, anyway."
Well, if he couldn't fly, he'd just have to deal with being floated there. Rather abruptly they were out the door and zipping over fields and through trees at a speed akin to a fast horse at a gallop. She could go faster, but not with someone else in tow. She hadn't been able to float two grown kitsu at the same time for very long, so she hadn't quite gotten the knack of it yet. But this was good practice!

Alphonse went quiet as Bryna told him about Edward. His eyes became unfocussed, his expression thoughtful. Edward had been looking for him, too? That thought alone filled him with some comfort. During his own journeys after his brother had dissapeared, he had often spent time pondering whether his brother missed him as much as he had missed him.
He was about to comment on this, but was knocked out of his thoughts entirely as he felt a rush of air around him. He blinked, returning to reality again, loudly yelling in shock as he discovered that he was now several feet above the ground, soaring over treetops.
"H-Help!!" He yelped, paws flailing out at the air, as if looking for something sturdy to grab onto. Was this flying? He doubted he could ever get used to it. "I want to get down!!"

Bryna looked back when Al yelled and rolled her eyes as he went on. "Do you want to see Nii-chan or not? If we go on the ground it'll take a lot longer!" She knew it was a lot more disconcerting for most people who already knew how to fly to have her float them around... at least Seer and Valefor and the triplettes said so. But... nyeh. Al and Ed would both be happier when they saw one another, and she doubted Al would mind this little trip so much after it was over. "I won't drop you. I do this all the time!"
She must have been moving faster than she thought, it only took about 10 minutes to roll up on the HQ. She pointed to it as they approached. "See? We're here. And if Ed Nii-chan isn't at this place, we can walk to the other one." Al was such a cry-baby. >P But she kept it to herself.

Alphonse kept his wings huddled closed on his back tightly as they made the rest of the journey to the HQ building in the air, partially out of his fear, and partially so he could stay warm. He pulled the red coat closed around him, thankful that it was so warm. He had no idea the air up here would be so chilly.
"Bbbrrr..." He said aloud, teeth chattering. "You do this all the time...? How?" Levitation and flying were interesting to think about, but he doubted if he would want to learn it himself. He was just glad that alchemy could be used in this world.
Bryna's assurances that he wouldn't fall left him somewhat calmer towards the end of the journey. He even took time to take in some of the scenery below, noting to himself that this new land sure was large... had Ed really been here all this time? At least it was nice.
"We're here already?" He called out to Bryna as they approached the building. "Thanks for the ride over, um... I didn't even catch your name." He looked down at the ground, happily. It would be so good to touch the ground again. He took advantage of the time in the air to quickly survey his surroundings. He saw nobody else, though, and his ears lowered. He felt his heart begin to sink again.
"I don't see him..." Alphonse sounded immensely dissapointed. "Maybe we need to walk to the other place."

Bryna pointed again. "The building..." Then she floated them toward the building, adding, "I'm Bryna!" And then she took deep breath before shouting, "NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-CHAAAAAAN. I GOT A SUPRISE FOR YOU." For such a lanky, petite girl, she could sure get some volume.
It was then that she landed them, letting both of them go a couple of feet (just a couple!) above the ground. It didn't occur to her that Al might not have been expecting to be let go before actually touching down. She just didn't have enough practice landing someone else close to the ground. She didn't want to drive him into the dirt on accident or something.

"Building?" Alphonse blinked, turning his head in the direction of the pointing. "Oh... right." He grinned.
"Oh, hi Bryna! You already know my name, so I guess I don't have to introdu---" Alphonse sharply flinched at the yelling sound that cut him off midsentence. He squeezed his eyes shut in reaction to the loud noise - it was very painful, and he felt like he had been struck in the ears with a sharp object.
He still had his eyes shut when Bryna removed the levitational influence from the both of them, and he tumbled to the ground in a heap, having not expected it at all.
"Oooufff!!" He yelped, hitting the ground for the third time today. "Owww..."

Unfortunately for Bryna, Edward was asleep inside. And we all know how Ed tends to sleep like a rock. Sometime during Terasu and Lilianna's conversation, he had gotten bored and decided to take a nap. Sprawled upon his back on a pillow, legs in the air... save one which was draped across his belly. His mouth slightly opened as well.
He didn't hear Bryna's call.. and she was outside anyways... so there were walls that kind of muffled the sound anyway.
Snooze.

As Edward had fallen asleep while she got the details with Terasu, Liliana had apparated home with her request for her father to send his patronus with a message to the unknowing grandmother. In that time, she was informed by Cedrella of having met one of said kits some time before and that this 'Faith' was in her 'group'... whatever that meant. Not that Lily intended to tell her mate about that just yet. Certainly not as she returned to his side and he was still sleeping soundly. Her crimson furred face had softened, simply watching Ed for a moment. Softly she had padded beside him, nestling into his side. Then fallen asleep herself.
Some time later she stirred, thinking she heard her cousin's voice. Well, that was not all uncommon. But Liliana was too sleepy to wake fully to hear what it was Bryna was shouting about this time. It had not been her name called... though some faint voice in the back of her mind was tickling, trying to tell her she did know the name though it was not fully registering in her drowsy state.
