Setting

The story takes place in the fantasy medieval setting on the continent of Encelle. (Map to be added)

Caliphen

To the chilly north lies the now conquered kingdom of Caliphen, a land known for its stalwart and honorable soldiers and for its healers. Although mages known for their mastery over the cold elements study and call their home here, they are not as prized as the warriors and clerics. The current political situation appears on the outside to be running smoothly, with all the senators working together to help govern the realm for Tornish king Valdis who has taken up residence in the Caliphen royal palace. But what is really going on is that the senators of Tor are always out ruling those of Caliphen and governing as they see fit as dictated by their king. Most of the Caliphen senators are deeply involved in intrigue and have their own intelligence network in conspiring against the Torish king. It was through this network that they learned of the long lost Prince’s status and location.

They are now seeking to send their own agents in going into Kaiten to watch over Calison and protect him against possible threats on his life; it was made apparent that there may be a traitor or traitors among them that could have leaked information to the Tors.

Tor

To the south of Caliphen in the warmer plains and forests, lies the Kingdom of Tor (which has extended its borders by taking over Caliphen.) The Tornish were not always so militaristic, but ever since the throne was taken over by the current king Valdis, the Tors geared up for conflict and war. The overall goal of King Valdis is to conquer the entire continent of Encelle for given reasons for complete control over resources. However his true intent is solely the ambitious goal of controlling the entire continent and its people to meet his own twisted needs and ends. The great northern kingdom of Caliphen was merely a stepping stone on the way to conquering the rest of the countries that were to the east.

What the Tors did not anticipate was the tenacity of the Caliphen armies and each battle and siege was hard fought. Even after eventually taking the capital, the Tors faced a lot of losses and debts that they had to take a break from furthering their campaign to take over the rest of Encelle. 15 years later they are getting back on their feet and gearing up again. The confirmed rumors of Prince Calison’s survival has now reached Valdis’ ears and is now sending agents to Kaiten to solve his Caliphen heir problem. He has however not made any move against the senators representing Caliphen, thinking that eventually, that if his initial attempts at the Prince’s life fail, he may get the Prince in the end if the senators have their way.

The Eastern Countries

To the east of Caliphen and Tor are three countries: Kaiten, Descron, and Beliken. The three countries have always been somewhat ill at ease with each other solely upon their different beliefs and approaches. But this xenophobia towards each other has not lead to any major conflicts.

Kaiten lies to the direct east of the old Caliphen borders. It is a place where the forest reigns over much of the landscape. What Kaiten is known for are their archers and their mages; both are trained at a very young age to either master the bow or the mystic arts and they excel in their fields, surpassing a lot of their colleagues in other countries. The country has always had ties to the Kingdom of Caliphen in the sense that they both respected their practices in the magic and combat skills. Although this was a somewhat loose tie, they still took it upon themselves to shelter Prince Calison in Caliphen’s time of need when they couldn’t send much force to assist them in trying to fight off the Tornish. The country is ruled by the strongest of the mages.

To the south of Kaiten is Descron, a country embroiled in a massive desert, starting where the trees of Kaiten end. In the deserts town, crime thrives as most of the populace tries to make a living for themselves by doing various unlawful things. It is common to find thieves’ guilds in most large cities and town and these guilds have become a part of life to the extent that they are contracted by the central Descron government to carry out a lot of covert and underhanded jobs to help run the country. It is with this culture of light fingered individuals that Descron is famous for producing fine assassins and saboteurs of all sorts, ready for hire for the right (expensive) price. The republic of Descron doesn’t quite like the Kaiten approach of only letting the ones that command the greatest of magic rule. The Kaitens on the other hand don’t quite approve of the contracting of those that should be punished by the law.

Lastly, to the very east of both Kaiten and Descron marks the borders of Beliken. In a country where the richest of merchants drive the political system, the people of Beliken tend to get on the nerves of the other two east countries due to their conceited attitudes; thinking they are the wealthiest nation they have concluded that they are better than everyone else. In times of conflict what Beliken does is hire sell swords to do their fighting for them. However in the past half century they have focused intensely on building up their navy and pride themselves in it. A lot of shipping is done through Beliken merchant vessels which has benefited the economy of entire continent. They have also kept a somewhat loose standing army comprised of sell swords that live in the country, but haven’t really built upon it upon seeing their fleets were of paramount importance.

Alright this is where all of you come in! What will you be in this conflict? A supporter for the Prince of Caliphen or his hunter? Will you be a nation's leader and guide your people? Will you be a senator working for Valdis or plotting against the Tornish king to put the Prince back on the throne? Use the setting information as guidelines (meaning some to refer to and not something to cling to) to create your characters!
As the Tornish gear up for war, everyone is aware that they will begin any of the eastern kingdoms. Will you watch by and see them march forward or will oppose them? Will you seek out the Prince of Caliphen and help watch over him and get him support gathered for the reclaiming of his throne and defeating the Tors or will you sell him to the Tornish King and hope that he will spare your country? It is all in your hands.

Character Name: Calison Zelcon (Caliphen)
Home Country: Knows it to be Kaiten, but it is the Kingdom of Caliphen.
Side: Currently neutral
Occupation: Mage, newly graduated.
Bio: Although he is the heir to the Caliphen Throne, Calison doesn't know it himself. After the sacking of the Caliphen capital, he was left in the care of the Kaiten mages. Growing up in a somewhat sheltered life, Calison learn how to hone his magic talent, which was mainly comprised of conjuring ice and control the cold elements. He is now a newly graduate and still completely oblivious of his true birthright.
Personality: Calison can be a bit cold at time, as the magic that he has mastered, but can be really kind and caring towards those that he counts as his friends. He usually tends to be more on the serious side and isn't really one for a lot of jokes.
Abilities: Is a talented mage when it comes to using ice and cold magic. Although he has no talent with the sword, he hopes that one day that he can be taught how to use it in the case that he is drain of his magic or prevented from using it.
Other: Calison has a familiar or magical pet that he is linked to, a white fox by the name of Shard. The fox is considerably intelligent and often gets into argument with its master. Shard and Calison can communicate to each other through a mental link.

Occupation: Valdis's General over Caliphen
Bio: Hokori rose through the Tor ranks quickly. Using his cunning and skill with a blade he was named Commander of the Vangaurd on the attack of Caliphen. Proving himself time and time again in combat he was granted power over much of the Caliphen country and royal palace. Is in the senate against his will but hardly ever attends except on special occasions.
Personality: Very loyal to his master. Would rather see his master's plans take effect than live. Although he would die for his master, he does not plan on doing so anytime soon and makes sure he is prepared before he goes into battles.
Abilities: Uses two daggers to attack swiftly and assassinate targets silently. Can use shadows to disguse himself and sneak around undetected. Is very charming and can flater many people to follow him.
Other: Although very evil, many people believe he is kind hearted and working for the Caliphen people because of his apperance.

Bio: She came from Tor and has always liked it there. Her parents were people of high status but were both assassinated. She now lives by herself in a huge mansion in the forest and loves traveling to different areas, not taking sides until someone proves their point.
Personality: She's somewhat 'distant' and can watch the moon for hours and hours. She's really fun once you get to know her and very easy to get along with.
Abilities: She has a dagger , which turns to a katana, strapped to her thigh, usually hidden by her skirt. While she uses her left hand for her katana, her right can control the wind. Occasionally, if she's threatened or mad, she can also make lightning, even though she can't control it too well. She can also heal, but she feels the pain of the wound as she heals.

Bio: An adept assassin within Descron, well know for her own way of killing her targets through the act of a innocent little girl. Eva may seem like a child to many, but a well trained assassin. An abandoned child that was taken in by a family of Assassins, making her one of their own. Training her to becoming strong. She was found at the age of 3, and in a short 10 years she had risen to the ranks of a well known assassin. Some say she was a child of a prodigy killer, or is one her self.
Personality: Calm at all times, and never shows emotion during a hunt. But during her normal life, she is happy and innocent. For the most part. Eva likes sweet foods. Has a habit of sitting on the ground and playing with her long white hair. Her favorite animals are cats.
Abilities:
Charm - Eva can charm her targets into believing she is a hopeless child that is in need of help.
Throw - Having a high ability to see moving things, Eva is able to throw any object from a distance of 10 yards and hit a vital. With a distance of 25 yards just to hit the target.
Adapt - Eva can adapt the her situation accordingly. Within moments of something happening Eva can counter and change the way the fight or conversation is heading.
Other: Eva has long white hair. Deep blue/purple eyes. When not hunting, but mad Eva will have a large killing intent.

Bio:Always one who learns things the hard way, Yushi was born to become a mage, and graduated from an acadmey at only the age of seven. Not thinking this was enough, she also made the long trek to Descron on foot, and learned the ways of spying and espionage. She was hired by Tor to 'take care of a certain noble', but after learning of their plan, she decided to save the Caliphen prince instead of killing him.
Personality:Yushi loves to play and kid around, but is scary when nesessary, and full of mystery to those who don't know her or chose not to. She is also a jail house lawyer, and can be bribed to do almost anything for three things: Candy, money, and sex. She is also a very proud pervert, and likes to flirt with both sexes.
Abilities: Control over fire, spying, and espionage
Other: She has a massive sweet tooth, she is a pervert, she is really body shy, she hates killing people, and she has a soft spot for those she considers her friends.
Appearance: Mostly what she wears is pratical, black on black on black. A sleeveless black shirt, a pair of tight black pants, and black boots conseal a great deal of weapons: eight throwing knives in each boot, a dagger at the small of her back, another dagger at the nape of her neck. She openly carries a bag full of throwing stars, another bag of throwing knives, a dagger at each hip and a longsword on her back. She has also been known to carry a walking stick, which doubles as a magical staff should the need arise for one. When she is visiting Drescon, she also wears a full tan cloack, with a hood to sheild her eyes from the harsh sun, and a peice to cover her mouth so she doesn't begin to choke on the whipping sand that is frequent in Drescon.When she is hunting, her long red hair is braided up into a bun, otherwise, she lets it hang in a loose ponytail or a single braid that reaches the small of her back. Her jade green eyes see everything, and her glowing skin makes her look like a goddess.

Occupation: Sword Fighter/Mage
Bio: Lucas has always been different then everyone else, always alone and training. He traveled to Kaiten just to learn a few spells here and there to make himself even more formidable. He has never known his parents and was an orphen untill he was 16 years old. From orphanage to orphanage he trained, protecting the little kids who were picked on, sometimes even getting beat up himself, yet he never gave up on his dream to be a great swordsman. Now he is traveling around to train himself even more.
Personality: He loves to be near water it tends to calm him down. He is a hot-head at times along with his undying need to be alone. It sometimes seems as if he is claustrophobic .
Abilities: He uses Flash Steps to get from place to place quickly, along with his Meteor Blade It makes him quite formidable, he also is quite attuned to Lightning magic skills.
Other: Carries a rather unusual blade that seems to sap enemies strength, and sometimes his own.

I write poetry and love nature. My best friend got in the middle of the war, and died, so I am on a quest to see who killed her. I always carry twin swords, that my dead friend gave me, though they aren't always visable
Personality: My personality is curious, loving, generally friendly, but I can get mean if I'm upset too much.

Bio: Uma is a shadow born deep in the forests of Kaiten. At a very early age she was exposed to deep magics and learned to control them with ease from her somewhat famed father Magnus Rozenfeild.Her family was slaughtered in front of her very eyes at the age of 5, the warriors had just killed her father and were moving onto her , she used her magic to escape the killing. She then fled Kaiten for sometime wandering and stealing in Descron. She allies Caliphen because she believes.. no, she knows it was a Tornish warrior that killed her family. Her quest is one of revenge and she will not stop until she sees Tor fall..
Personality: Calm and collected. Easy to underestimate. She has boughts of rage when faint memories of the death of her beloved family come to mind.
Abilities:dark and light magic, superb fighting skill( uses them rarely)
Other: Uma carries several weapons hidden deep in her cloak but maily uses a bow and arrow when she chooses to fight. Her eyes and sight , Uma's eyes are two different colors because of the magic...she encounters faint blindness from time to time

Bio: During his childhood Caliphen was being over run by Tor. His family being slaughtered he ran and found shelter with others hiding. He grew up heartless in battle. Always fighting to stay alive and now at large for murdering a lead officer for Tor. Sneaking in the shadows he moves from city to city looking for supporters for Caliphen.
Personality: Not talkative unless he trusts them. Short fused. not much is known about him.
Abilities: Fights with one long thin blade, can control and use the earth as a weapon, very quick

Bio:When she was four years old her parents were killed while traveling to the Eastern Countries. They were trying to escape the tyranny of the Tor. Unfortunately they were killed by a group of bandits. Those bandits imprisoned her and they made her their own personal little slave. As the years went by she learned and grew. One day she assassinated the leader after she drugged him. She took over the group and made her way to power.
Personality:She's pretty quiet and mostly keeps to herself. She does not really care about the political conflict as long as it doesn't interfere with her. She kills anyone for the right price and even betrays her clients. In other words, she pretty void of emotion.
Abilities: Uses a katana engraved with kanji. You could say her sword is "alive" after making a pact with a spirit. She is able to control chakra quite well and excels in dark arts.
Other: She has a snow wolf as a comrade. The snow wolf is called Raiden. It's very protective of it's master.

Bio: Abandoned at the age of 3 when she first used water to her liking, she was raised by a few theives. If her intrest hadn't caught them she would of been
killed then and there. They were unsure of how to further her ability so instead they trained her into becoming one of the greatest assassins from Descron. On her 16th birthday, her and her family traveled across the Eastern Countries resulting in her being the only survivor. Heartbroken she made a vow to become the greatest assassin in history.

Personality: Her personality changes all the time. She can be like fire then ice. Warm and dangerous or cold and unstable. It all depends on whats happening around her at the moment.

Bio: Ever since the attack he had trained in secret to raise his skill with the ancient, yet brutal Caliphen fighting style. When his master and father was killed he swore revenge and the Senators picked him to be an agent.Now at age 19 he is the Royal Bloodine's only active knight so they made him Calison's bodyguard. He watched his parents mutilated thouroughly and harshly and a young age and watched as they raped and beat his sister. He was scarred and has a mile long emotional strip the can empower him, but gets him in trouble too.
Personality:He is a mute from the young scarring but people usually understand him anyway. He isn't violent or mean, but because he can't talk he appears unfriendly at first..
Abilities: His only real abilities are unparalleled swordsmanship, incredible athletecism, and A bright yellow material he can create that is highly corosive.
Other: His eyes are quite blank and he has the Caliphen symbol tatooed on his back, somethin ghis father left him.

Bio:Born in a family of poverty Jin had always been the disliked member in his family no matter what he would do it wouldn't be enough to satisfy them. His parents were drunks and would blow out all their money on gambling or some form of alcoholic beverage.He began living away from home whether it'd be in a friends house or in a cellar or even some where in the streets.he began to learn to live for himself until one day he was caught by Valdis's guards.It was taken into custody and accused for treason just because they said so. he served time in prison 3 years just because they "said so". 2 years after he sentence he decided to join valdis's army and worked his way to the top with in 5 years and is high commander at the age of 21.He now is away from Head quarters and on a reconnaissance mission.He is gathering any information about the kingdoms.

Bio: Kathryn was born in Descron but moved to Beliken just when she got used to the lifestyle of Descron. she took her habits along with her which got her in to trouble many times. she was sent to a private school as her parents were very wealthy. this is why they moved away from Descron.Kathryn turned out not to be a bad student after all despite her shady past. She graduated at 17 and had studied defensive arts and the art of medicine. Though she is quite intelligent she still lacks some common sense and ends up in sticky situations. when she turned 18 she signed up as a mercenary for higher.
Personality: Intimidating, some times silly, Intelligent.
Abilities: Enchanting, Medical expertise, Outstanding speed and agility

The white fox had its tail wrapped around the neck of his master and observed the small conjuring tricks that he was doing. Calison Zelcon was pondering what to do with his life and talent now that he had graduated from the academy as he sat in one of the courtyards. He had been living in Kaiten (and more specifically the school it self) for as long as he could remember. The mage instructors have always told him that he was just an abandoned child found on school door steps when ever he asked, but it steadily became more apparent as the years passed that they were practically shying away from the subject. However he did not pursue the questioning further when he became embroiled in his fascination of magic.
The palm size twister of snow and ice was gliding about his hand when it suddenly compacted together to form a diamond shaped ice shard. Calison looked over at his fox that had perked up at the abrupt change and gave a wholehearted laugh. “Didn’t expect that, did you?”
The fox looked at his master and said mentally to him, “Yes, yes, you’re really talented…but don’t you think you should be planning out what you’re going to do; you can’t keep living here all your life.” The fox had more of an intellect than any animal should, but Shard gave sound counsel. Calison merely nodded as the single palm size shard of ice floating inches above his palm split into dozens of smaller shards. The young mage gave his hand a subtle twist and they all stood still for a second before they all started to point at Shard. The fox grew wide-eyed as the ice was launch at him. As the pieces of ice were able to hit him, they all dissolved into light blue particles that dissolved into the air around them.
Calison laughed as his fox glared at him, “Very funny…I’m not amused. You seem to be in noticeable high spirits today…”
“Of course, my entire life is now in front of me, I can do whatever I want….now I just need to figure out what I want to do.” Calison stood up and exited the courtyard and made his way to the head master’s office to give his final farewells.

Shard's hair started to stand on end when he got the feeling someone was following them. How did they get in here? the fox asked himself. He wasn't getting any bad vibes from the person, but he didn't like the idea that his master was being stalked. The headmaster's office was just up ahead and as Calison went in, Shard leaped off his shoulder and stood in front of the door as if to stand guard.
The headmaster greeted Calison wholeheartedly, "Ah, Mr. Zelcon, what can I do for you?" Calison scratched his head as he started to explain his desire to travel far beyond the school and to see the rest of Kaiten and perhaps Beliken and Descron as well. The headmaster nodded as he listened intently to the prodigy mage before him. "Very well, I think you should be free to travel, but it is a dangerous world out there...not that I'm doubting your skill and talent, but why don't you look for someone to accompany you?"
"I have Shard, he's the only company I need," Calison replied. "He technically doesn't require sleep, so he can watch over me during the night, and as you've said, my magic is to not be doubted, I can take care of myself."

((oops, sorry Ghost is the name of another fox in another RP, Shard and him are of the same concept but are different, so I unknowingly used the name interchangeably. It's Shard ^^;; ))

Shard cocked his head to the side as he sent a mental message to Calison. His master exited the headmaster's office immediately after hear of 'a strange person outside'. He looked at the girl suspiciously, "Who are you?" The young mage did not believe that he saw this girl around the campus at all during his stay and she certainly didn't appear to be a student or anything along those lines. Shard climbed back onto his master's shoulders and stared at the girl, almost glaring at her.

She stood. "My name is Rose Tyler. I'm a wanderer who likes a bit of adventure now and again. I'm shure you're geared up for anything. Care to join?" she asked, smiling lightly.

"I was a student here once..." she said, and she had proof to back it up as she summoned a ball of fire to the dusk. "Shall we go grab a bite to eat as we talk?" she asked the two of them.
