(thought it could be fun to have something to actually do....like investigate a new world, for those of us who are bored out of our minds.)

There is an open portal to Ahmenta right outside of Union in a cave. The small portal is charmed by Sahira, so that those who pass through have the gift of tongues, leaving them able to communicate in the other world. It was initialy used for her contacts from her home world durring the Union crisis, but has since been abandoned....and left open for wandering scragglers who want to come play in desert land. >.>

Ahmenta is a mostly desert planet (there are parts that aren't desert but we're not going there at the moment). In a normal day there are six hours of direct sunlight, two of those hours are unbearable, four of those hours are so hot that no living thing can live outside of shelter for a period of more than five minutes.

The people of Ahmenta are seperated in a number of kingdoms, but they are highly dependant on a clan system. They are all cat based, though are humanoid in appearance (kinda like Sahira...surprised? shouldn't be). They carve out incredibly detailed palaces/cities/villages in caves, in the sides of mountains, even in underground tunnels. They hide away from the sun during daylight hours, but are rather active during the night.

Creatures to be wary of:

Sand Sharks: large fishlike predators that swim through the sand as if it were water. As they move they send out vibrations which have a liquifying effect on the sand making it easier for them to move around and capture prey. If someone starts sinking in the sand, as if it were water, that means a sand shark is near by and possibly hunting them.

Sand Vipers: Snakes...poisonous snakes....yeah.

Sting Beetles: Nasty little thumbsize black bugs which sting the host, numbing part of their body, and then bore into them. They then crawl down to a cavernous area inside the body and lay eggs. The baby bugs will eventually hatch and eat the host from inside out. A very painful, frightening death. Yummy.

Heat Seekers: Hard to describe these, but they don't have a form of their own (Appear firey and glowey-ish) and survive off heat. They are rumoured to be born of the sunlight, and they prey off of unwary travelers at night. They sometimes hide themselves away in the blackened corpses of thier victims, waiting for others to walk by.

I'll fill things in more as the thread progresses.

Anc stood at the entrance to the cave, his stolen bike beside him. Having woken some distance outside the shelter, he decided to hunt for Sahira, and remembered this cave when the two went to her world.

"Awh, hell." He said, entering the cave, making for the portal.

(Sahira just came out of a portal, badly injured, in the Krovh/phoenix thread. But it's still fun to check the place out.)

The portal was small, only big enough for one person at a time (which would mean Anc would have to shrink down to fit through). It was hidden behind a turn in the cave, and for the most part looked like a small doorway leading to a blood red sky. The sun would be rising soon, however the portal was not too far from the sandstone caves holding Sahira's home palace and city.

((Yeah, well forget whatever it was I said about Ra up there, Steube....She's here now.))

As the car stopped Sahira slid out, most of her wounds gone by now. "The cave's up there. And I'm assuming you want me to come in their with you hmm? Because it's full sunlight right now, and I'm not exactly fond of dying....or duplicating the stunt I pulled earlier."

"iffn' yer really worried, you can stay. But I'm goin' in. Don't know how bad it is for you, so I don't know if I can keep you from gittin' burned up. I'll go take a peek and tell you."

Alloran walked up to the portal, stepping in. A sigh of relief washed over him. Now this was nice. The sun shined down on him, warming him suitably. He stepped back through, steam rising off of him.
"Yeah, come on, I can keep most of it offa you. You'll be warm, but you won't get burned."

Sahira moved to the portal cautiously. She shielded her eyes and stepped through. If it had burned, she would have hissed and run back inside, but it seemed to be rather pleasant, the heat moving away from her before it would touch or become irritable. "What exactly are you?" She asked quietly. She still kept her eyes shaded, protecting them from the glaring light.

"Just a guy who's not amazinly' opposed to this place." Alloran said, keeping the heat off of Sahira. "It's nice here, I could get to like it. Now, where'd the girl pop out? We're gonna say she made her way somewhere safe, where'd that be?"

Sahira pointed to the caves a few miles in the distance. "My home city, the closest visible shelter. She wouldn't have known to seek anything below the surface." The sun made the sand on around them nearly glow, a bright gold color. The waves of heat visible in the air. "Born in a volcano, moss man?" She started walking towards the caves, hoping her people hadn't killed Ruby on sight. The red hair and pale white skin would be a bit frightening to the best of them.

"Are you kidding? ******** car won't fit through the portal either." Alloran grumbled at having driven all the way there, to be the distance of the drive away.
"Let's go then." He grumped, starting in the direction walking.
"So what, you grow up here, and you can't even stand the heat?" Alloran didn't bother with her question to his nature.

"Do you see any children playing in the playground?" She asked with a dry voice. "We've adjusted, all the life on this planet has adjusted. For the most part we spend our lives at night." She stepped up her pace a bit moving through the sand with ease. "And the portal is purposefully small, I didn't want an army exiting or entering my world. It could have been disastrous. Only a spare few are permitted to even know about cars. It would unbalance things."

Laurel landed beside the abandoned car outside the cave. She saw a motorcycle next the the cave entrance and headed that way.
Inside the cave, she found the portal and could see two figures in the distance, one of them green.
She could feel the sun's heat through the portal, so she created a ball of shadow around herself and stepped through. Even with the direct light blocked, the heat was staggering. She knew that she had to find shelter soon. She took to the air and flew after the others, a ball of blackness in the desert sun.

Anc paused, collecting himself as he walked, the air around him collected to refract the heat into the ground to the side of him. It was still hot, and he didn't care for it much, but atleast he wasn't dead...
He trudged to Sahira's city, moving at slow, deliberate pace. The Heat Seeker he ran into last time at the front of his memory.

Lucidity watched the others go into the portal, and he grew curious. After about ten seconds of thinking it over, he walked up to the portal and entered. He appeared 10 feet above the ground, cause he's lucky like that. He fell with a soft thud onto the scorched sand, but he didnt mind the heat. He stood up and brushed himself off and in the distance he could see Ancwalar. He set off after him, basking in the nice heat.

"Just because there ain't a lot doesn't mean it ain't an army." Alloran nodded, looking around at the barren waste, no blemish in the clean-cut horizon. "Cars would be a bad idea. This place is too hot for most fuel."
Alloran continued walking, bored, causing bits of the sand here and there to form into unclean glass.
